olenyi: Just as i said, u haven't being following in here. Forget what the so called engineer told u, u can still watch mytv.

Now dis is wat u do.

First, remove ur diseqc switch and run the wire direct from dish to receiver.

press menu button, press ok. Enter 4 zero's if pin is requested. Go down to manaul scan and select.

Press the red recall button on ur remote and look for astra 1N/2abd. Select it and go down to frequency

Now look for 12523 19531 V. If u cant find it, press zero and select add. Enter the values at neccessary places. It should be grenn now. If not, change the ''v'' to ''h''. If it has turned to green, den let me know. If not, let me know. Do this first stage and come back for more.

Ilish: He was not sincere. If it was as a result of "Over The Air " software download, all you need to do is to remove that TP which carries the software MENU > INSTALLATION >OTA MENU......change the satellite and to.....let it be in red and save. Your decoder will never again do an auto OTA.

The satellite has no problem in this regard.

HOW TO BUILD AN RS 232 CABLE
Go to the guys selling computer parts. Buy an rs 232 cable (as shown in Diagram 1). You cantake the picture along with you for them to understand. Both ends of the cable should be female (with holes) See attached diagram. The connections will be
pin 2-----------------------------------pin 3
pin 3-----------------------------------pin 2
pin 5-----------------------------------pin 5
Though it may be difficult for you to physically know what connects to what, i willgive you my own style.
Take a cutter (or knife, pliers) and cut your cable into 2 at the midpoint (middle), you will find 9 coloured cables including a Unclad one. You will only need the Green, Orange, Red and the Unclad cable. Connects it like thisat both ends.
END 1 END 2
Red ------> connects to <----------- Orange
Orange ------> connects to <----------- Red
Green -----> connects to <----------- Green
Unclad wire ------> connects to <----------- Unclad wire
If you connect it well, then you are good to go. (make sure you cover the connected ends with cello tape before you destroy your decoder oooo)
Check the diagram for more details.
However, if your own cable is different, you will need a Multimeter (in the diagram) to test the cable to actually determine pin 2, 3 and 5 then you cross it as is shown in the diagram. How do you test? Alright, Turn the multimeter in such a way as if you are testingfor the resistance of the cable e.g. 2k, then connect one end of your Multimeter to pin 2 (second hole from right) (see pin diagram 1 -5, 6 – 9) and then the other end of the meter,use it to touch each ends of the coloured cables to test. If there is a deflection(analog) or value (for digital) , then you know that is the cable for that particular hole (pin 2) . Do the same to determine pin 3 and 5. The Unclad cable is easy to see. You can then connect the cable to your decoder and PC to start the transfer.

Dnt undastand bt a frend told me i bought d fake 4669x decoda cos d real one z no longer in market nd ma dad wil crusify me if i tell him this cos he wanted DSTV bt i convincd him 2 go 4 STRONG. Pidzo: Try to upgrade it via PC using cross RS232 cable.

olenyi: Seems u are using mytv. Nollywood and co was on before, but dey've been encrypted about two weeks back. If u want to subscribe for it, ckeck for CTL dealers in ur area.
U can't use ur 69X as modem. Some have come here claiming such but non has been able to prove it. If it was 69Z, and the HD decoders with ethernet port, u might be able to view youtube, etc on them. But no browsing.

Tanx brodo. If i subscribe 4 dis CTL stuf, wil i b able 2 view mytv chanels alongside, cos i dnt wana lose mytv. Nd by d way, do u knw how much d payment cost?

olenyi: First what paytv provider did u subscribe for. Because if it's MYTV (which has only about 20 channels, from bbc to fox and nkb world), u cant watch nollywood and co as they are owned by ctl and not mytv. Etv is encrypted for now on nagra 3 and dia's no option of payment now. Ewtn is still very much on (maybe u should rescan ur intelsat 7/10)
When u blind scaned, those channels u got are like dat. Nothings on it. U can as well delete them because dats how it's been for ages.
We only do upgrade wen something is wrong wit ur decoder, or dia's a specific feature of the new software update dat u need. Besides dat, u don't upgrade. NO ONE FIXS SOMETHING DAT AIN'T BROKEN.
