Billyonaire: Let me be frank. The teachings of Pastor Chris Oyhakilome has impacted more enlightenment in many, than the teachings of Jesus Christ. His Teachings are for these times while teachings of Jesus were meant for people of his times. I am not religious, but I love motivational speeches.
.....OMG, such crap. U're comparing a mere mortal to Jesus Christ, d author and finisher of our faith, u must be soooo dumb and deluded to have said that. If u've got nuffin to say, then keep quiet b4 u blaspheme.

Lolz, this topic is bringing me way back down memory lane. I was still in pry school then in d early 90's. Thr was this elderly man who visited our house often. D man was rich but didn't knw how to spend his money, so my dad nicknamed him "money-miss-rd" unknown to d man. One afternoon, thr was a knock on d gate. My elder bro ran out to see who it was while d youngest of us all, trotted along. Immediately, he saw d man at a gate, my younger bro ran towards where my dad was standing at a corner in our compound and shouted..."Daddy, money-miss-rd is around, daddy money-miss-rd is around". 2 say my dad was shocked and embarrassed is an understatement. Hastily, my elder bro quickly carried him and we all entered our rooms immediately. My sisters made a joke of d whole experience and we laughed uncontrollably while we awaited our dad's admonitions. I still remind my bro who is nw grown of d experience. We usually have a gud laff wen we reminisce bout our childhood.

RomanceRe: Is It Wrong To Approach A Lady On The Street? by promire2004(f): 6:08pm On Jun 24, 2012
There is no definite place where spouses or soul-mates are met. U can meet someone in d street, it all depends on ur perspective bout life. It's unfortunate dat once a lady finds herself in d bad book of her hubby's pple, she is often tagged as "been picked from d street", when in reality it's not always d case. Although, there are no fast rules as to where u meet ur spouses, i still fink dat life is full of stages. If u accost a lady on d street, u can do that politely and wait patiently to observe her reaction. If she sounds friendly and interested, u can forge ahead, otherwise u just respect her opinion. I rem some time ago, i was motioned to a stand-still on a very sunny day by one funny looking fellow like dat, d way and manner with which he beckoned at me got me pretty scared. I later realised he was just a lousy fellow. Tried to be nice sha burrrrr.........anyway, some guys are very funny. Guys, don't stalk ladies on d streets, and ladies, pls don't be too hard on guys. *my 2 cents*.
RomanceRe: Even Pretty Girls Cry At Night by promire2004(f): 1:07am On May 25, 2012
Although i agree with the poster to some extent, i still fink dat ladies in particular should always give a good impression. First impression matters a lot. If u c urself as very pretty, it shudn't get into ur head. Rather, a woman's beauty is mostly admired when she is soft-spoken, gentle, reserved and polite. Often times, people often get d misconception that when a lady possesses all of the above qualities, that she won't be respected. But in reality, such ladies are highly respected and commended for their beauty and humility. U can be humble but u shudn't be vulnerable to gimmicks whatsoever. Been classy, posh and real is very different from been fake and a craving to belong-wannabe. Respect is reciprocal. U shudn't expect any form of respect from anybody when u look down on pple and walk out of them snobbishly all in a bid to bruise their self-esteem!
EducationRe: I Was Very Sad When I Had A B, Says Graduate With 4.99 Cgpa by promire2004(f): 6:32pm On Feb 27, 2012
moremi2008:
The bittersweet reality of life is that all the studying and first class degrees in the world do not guarantee success in the game of life. For every Nigerian with a first-class, there are a thousand Indians and Chinese with a first-class+++. The world is teeming with technocrats and only a few of them make it past middle management. It's not sufficient to study hard and do well in school. Good grades have to be coupled with personality, wisdom, emotional intelligence and a good dose of humility.
u're sooooooo on point. Most first class degree holders seldom have a good dose of humility. Academic excellence is all they care to know!

I do not buy the opinion that Degree holders cannot measure up to their HND counterparts.Their responsibilities in an organisation are different.Besides,we are all presented with equal opportunities to attend poly,Uni,Colleges of Edu or others. The choice is for individuals to make.If a person is not satisfied with his educational qualification, the room for advancement is not exhausted.
U're soooo on point, i concur!
EducationRe: Can Educators Reveal Their Experience With Nigerian Students? by promire2004(f): 8:19pm On Feb 13, 2012
wow! What a nice thread we have here, @Ops, thumbs up. I had d rare opportunity of teaching in a community secondary school somewhere in enugu state during my nysc programme. D experience was sweet and sour. It was sweet in d sense that d few attentive students learnt a lot 4rm me and i got along with them. It was sour in that i rem hw stubborn d S.S.1 students (now in S.S.2) were. Y i stood in front of a some-what indifferent class trying so hard to be audible, others busied themselves wit psquare's music *e no easy*at d far end of d class. D windows were their exit, they seldom made use of d doors. Initially, i almost gave up on d students but gradually i earned their respect when they finally realized i was gud wit d subjects allocated to me (physics and mathematics). During d exams, i rem hw i gave a J.S.S.1 student a very hard knock on d head 4 cheating. Dat was d worst punishment i meted out on my student physically. The S.S.3 students were my favourites. They accorded me so much respect and it endeared me to them. But in all, it was an unforgettable experience. I can't stop thanking Baba God 4 his mercies!

CultureRe: Igbo Culture And Quest For Landed Property by promire2004(f): 12:31pm On Feb 08, 2012
Abagworo:
I think this aspect of land you discussed is almost universal to every culture but what I mean is this. I for example acquired landed properties in places that I don't have use for them. I did that as a store of wealth. I noticed too that most of my Igbo friends are guilty of same while my non-Igbo friends only buy landed properties where they either want to live or do business making them own maximum of 2 landed properties. I think we have developed a culture of referencing landed properties as the major mark of success to an extent that an Igbo will rather trek to work than to buy a car. He would rather go off town with the car money and acquire a cheap land.
@Abagworo, u're absolutely correct. Seriously i was actually wondering y ibo pple are overtly crazy about landed properties. Now, let me use nnewi (in anambra state) as a case study. An nnewi man might prefer to ride a lady bike and own plots of land and mansions in his village than to drive posh cars. D few ones u get to see driving good cars are mostly working class people who see d need to own a car probably 4 convenience and status upgrade. It's not wrong 4 someone to invest wisely but i see it as sheer stupidity to own several plots of land and mansions while d person treks in his entire life. Deltans on d otherhand are very comfortable wherever life takes them. A true delta man might own a single house and buy as much cars as he desires while some others might choose to live in a rented apartment and drive d best cars u can ever tink of. This also is uncalled for. Either ways, moderation is important!

*smh* Soooooo unbeilevable! Dis is a sad case of paying so much and getting very little in return. I can't believe dat one wud be compelled to go 4 lectures witout bathing due to unavailability of water inspite of d exorbitant fees. Medi-care which is of utmost importance is apologetic. As far as i'm concerned, d private university is simply a complete waste of resources. Our federal universities may have their flaws, but i still prefer them anytym anyday to these so-called private universities. May d soul of d deceased rest in peace. It's such a pity!
RomanceRe: Why Do Nigerian Girls Find It Hard To Take Themselves Out? by promire2004(f): 8:52am On Feb 04, 2012
@op, ur perceptions about nigerian girls are not entirely true. Although i may agree to some extent dat some ladies like awoof, but rem dat we still have some classic ladies out there. We've different levels of ladies. There are d ones who wud hang out wit their friends in clubs, eateries bla bla bla and still foot d bills. There are others who wud prefer 2 sit all alone in an eatery or a club though in rare cases and there are d extremely dependent ones who derives immense pleasure in depositing money in2 their accounts, their kobo nor dey drop. As 4 me, i cud be quiet and restrained at one point and be outgoing and sociable if i want 2. @Ops, pls don't make general assumptions kk?

@Mayflower, u're so on point. Dis guy seems 2 be a witty person and a SUBTLE SEDUCER like u rightly said but OP will never knw. IMO, i wud suggest that d relationship shud be checked. It's not wise to continue a relationship wit some1 u're developing feelings for or possibly having a crush on. Marriage has its many problems and as adults, we shudn't run away 4rm our probs, rather we shud face them squarely. Truth is most ladies are kool wit platonic relationships, but 4 d guys hell NO! 99.9 percent of guys wud just lure a vulnerable woman straight 2 d bedroom. I've seen wolves in sheep clothing. At first, they seem nice, caring, kind-hearted and almost perfect. Such guys will never make their intentions known. They wud simply play along and take u unawares before u knw it.
