AutosRe: Who Drives Manual? by promise72(m): 7:17am On Dec 20, 2006
it all depends. some cars dont even offer manual. no matter how bad you want it. ie lex430, mbz500, 750il etc.

however, i will tell you that they all have plus and minuses. a manual shift will last 2 lifetimes than an auto. you need less maintenance for manual. your get a slightly better gas mileage on a manual than auto (for the same type of car of course)

and if you break down, you can still do the ol' oga i beg help me push and start trick smiley
no can do for auto.

auto is more easy. and if you are in lagos you'll appreciate auto in traffic jam. also in hilly road going uphill you can stop and wait without the clutch & brake deal. You 'll lightly apply brake or sometimes no brake.

as far as i know. just know how to drive them both. cos real men drive manual smiley
AutosRe: Used Cars Wanted by promise72(m): 7:02am On Dec 20, 2006
This is responding to Seyijay.

The concept of giving the same cars 2 differnt names is called "Rebadge engineering". Its not that they think the consumers are crazy but its done for several reasons.

1. Image.
People on the "come up" might not mind driving a primera. However some big boys might think they are too big for nissan. so they buy infiniti g20. which is essentially the same car so the manuf. gets to satisfy 2 diff sets of with one product.

A case in point.Believe it or not Lexus, though made in Japan was targeted mainly for the US. I say "targeted mainly". even though its made by toyota. The same Lex 400 is sold in japan as a simple toyota for years. its not until last year sept that lex 430 is available in japan. sold as lex. As crazy as it sounds, lex will be produced in japan ans shipped outside in entirety without any one being sold in japan. that only stopped last year.
If lex has been shipped to US as a toyota, i guarantee you they will fail simply cos fo image. Rich people dont want to say they drive toyota

2. Economy.
On the side of the manuf. they get to spead out the same product over several brand and charge for it like crazy. If you walk into nissan dealership and say you want a primera brake pads. they may say $25. however same pads labelled as infiniti will be about 30% more cos you pay more for infiniti.

so if you know what cars are equivalent. you will save a lot of $$$ if you buy the cheap equivalent. its same thing by same manuf.

hope it helps.

TravelRe: What Do You Think Of America? by promise72(m): 7:57am On Dec 16, 2006
All the opinions i have read so far are correct yet wrong. whatever your opinion is about america, i beg you to do one thing for me. Go to 1st bank or Oceanic or any other banks that transacts western union and see how many people are waiting to get dollars for america. Every freaggin day.

No matter how small $50, $100, in some funny way millions in Niger are still alive cos of America and other countries. Please get this clear cos i will only say it once: THERE IS NO COUNTRY ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH THAT DOESNT DO BUSINESS WITH AMERICA. In one way or the other. Directly, indirectly, Legal, illegal or whatever. why is that.

there are countries that US dont give a damn about and dont deal with but not the other way round. All these punks in these stupid countries screaming down wt America yari yari yara. You know the funny thing? Most of their "Big Men" either study in America or their kids are in America. As soon as their country boils over, the first safe haven that comes to their coconut head is Good ol USA. Obasanjo, atiku dem All have connection here. If going gets though, they know who to cry to.

US is by no means perfect. But there is no country with the amt of influence as the US. Only 2% of Americans are farmers. Yet there is no place in the world where you'll never find a food item from US (Candy, Cookies, Snickers)

Industrialisation began on massive scale in the US, then copied throughout, somehow you can see other countries' industrialisation as the offspring of the US. Before, you draw your opinion. Check yourself b4 you wreck yourself  zuckers!!!! smiley

BusinessRe: Commercial Production Of Tinned Tomatoes by promise72(m): 9:09am On Dec 15, 2006
Dude,

I still never understand why anyone would want to start a business in Nigeria that will not be assured of raw materials. Yes, there are tomatoes in Nigeria but the amt of investment in tomato processing equipment will not justy the amt of tomato you can get in Nigeria.

I'm guessing that a processing plant on the cheap will run a minimum of $1-1.5million. You don't just get processing machine. you will need "ancilliary" equipment. Cold Room, Forklift, Trucks, Offices, personnel vehicle (sales, other logistics stuff), Generator (super Duty, No tiger piece of ### sad

Even if you get all that, you will need a tomato farmer on a large scale for constant supply. Whatta you going to do about Nigeria road

One thing i know about food processing, you need to process the fruits not later than 48hrs after being harvested. Otherwise quality is no good. If you do, people will reject your products and all your investments are down the tube.

I don't mean to be a downer, but you need to work out the logistics, hire a consultant and you're in business.

and lastly, you need hectres upon hectres of farm to supply tomato because the canning machinery works very very very fast producing about .5 to 1million per day. think about it.

its not a small boy business.
