Car TalkRe: Best SUV For Nigeria? by promise72(m): 6:45am On Jan 07, 2007
in my opinion both are wrong choices. you should get a 4runner of landcruiser.

Even though you dont care about spare parts now you will later. downtime from waiting for the part. a toyota is the only vehicle i know that can be fixed in any part of the world. Next time you watch videos from afganistan, iran or iraq you see how many toyota there is. In the desert of Saudi, kuwait etc its L/Cruiser all the way. They can afford a jeep of rover but they know better.

Even if you can get the parts, consider a scenario that you were travelling in the miidle of nowhere and broke down, it will be easier to call someine to get parts and fix it in the city that the car broke down at than towing the car all the way to lagos or wherever to get to a qualified mechanic.

Is a 4runner or cruiser as presigious as a rover? No! But the total cost of running a rover/jeep (gasoline, service etc) will be waaaayyyyyy more than a toyota.

Buy smart.

Car TalkRe: Join The Ride From London To Lagos By Road by promise72(m): 7:40am On Jan 05, 2007
time is money. it will take you long and cost way more than flying. if your purpose is to avoid paying too much for travel. this is a futile alternative. if its for fun, its something else.

Beware, morocco no dey play with africans. Dem go make you eat human feceas. You will regret.

What if you get robbed where will you turn to then? no money, no passport, no embassy? One thing is universal, the world is not pleasant for poor people.

You go smell pepper undecided
Car TalkRe: Abuja Car Race by promise72(m): 7:27am On Jan 05, 2007
where you go get land buy for abuja to make this a profiatble venture? Remember, the track has to be build and PARKING for spectators. So its not just a matter of clearing some road. Also, medical facility. Ambulance, ER, etc. THERE WILL BE ACCIDENTS. You have to thing of pheripherals , the side course not just the main dish. Also, SECURITY!!

It behooves me how, Murtala Int. Airport can be robbed for about 4hrs without police showing up despite them being down the street.

How will you get paid? Crowd control, gate fees, entry fees for racers, INSURANCE!!!. If a breadwinner is in the crowd and he got killed from an out of control vehicle whatta u gonna do? Run? Beg?

There are lots of jara that needs to be worked out. There are great minds in Nigeria, but sadly there are no facility/infastructure to sustain it.

Food nko? How will you prevent hawkers selling puff puff from crashing your party? As soon as you try and force Nigerians to obey the rule, then dey want riot? everybody thing they too big for rule of law.

Okada man no get licence dey drive like a madman, come hit your ride next thing you know other okada riders wey no sabi anything dey defend am. try to set your car on fire. Gather like 100 riders and ask them to procude licence on the spot, dem no get.

Sorry to break it to you, Nigeria is not ripe enough for that kind of things. Simple food, we barely feed ourself.
Car TalkRe: How Reliable Are BMW Cars? by promise72(m): 7:05am On Jan 05, 2007
Currently pushing a 1981 320i for the last 2years as a daily drive. Doing about 160 kilos per day (minimum). Its been notin but joy. However, the roads here are good, i put in about $1,000 about 5months ago to change shocks, tie rods, ball joints etc to keep it in tip top shape. parts are a bit expen$ive. But i havent spent a penny on engine (knock on wood). Oil change and a whole lotta beatdown.

My first BMR too. looooovvvvveee it smiley

As far as nigeria is concerned, just do alot of preventive maintenance and make sure you get good parts. it should last you long.
AutosRe: Golf For N200, 000 by promise72(m): 6:55am On Jan 05, 2007

EducationRe: Grad School In The Us by promise72(m): 6:53am On Jan 05, 2007
for oil and gas, all things considered i say you opt for texas a&M. you can get them online at www.tamu.edu. Texas is an oil state (like PH) and the good thing is that they (university) have a lot of businesses in the oil sector that helps out in IT, field trip, jobs etc.

however as with anything, ABILITY TO PAY IS THE ISSUE. YOU WILL HAVE TO CONVINCE THE EMBASSY. that is the sticky point.

Good luck smiley
