I tried visiting blognownow. It has been listed as an attack site (sites that install software on the visitors systems to grant the site owner access to the visitors information stored on the computer system including but not limited to credit card numbers, usernames and passwords, etc.) . I suggst y'all be careful. @feyisara, why is your site listed as an attack site? I did not eventually visit it for security reasons.

WebmastersMy Idea by proproman(op): 12:41pm On Nov 04, 2009
pls, if you've not thought of this, don't steal the idea. This is my idea. I've noticed that most web developers and designers on nairaland don't have any real "haven" so to speak. I think it's better everyone has a place were people seeking web designers and developers can meet them, assess their skills and all that, the designers/developers have an online resume (sorta), like a freelancing site for Nigerian Developers/Designers. I'm thinking of creating a site like that. I'm seeking the opinion of y'all so i can know whether to start or if such a site is already in existence.

NB: I mean a full freelancing site, not a forum like this one.

What d'yall think?

@Yoruba, so what is your point? Nigerians should start fleeing to SA in droves? Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you think SA is heaven next door, so be it. If enjoyment thinks its hell at the back yard, it's his opinion and I think kyou should respect it, not insult him for it.
Nairaland GeneralRe: What Are Your Views On Homosexuality? by proproman(m): 1:52am On Oct 31, 2009
I've read lots of posts here and I feel I must say something. Am a christian, and while our religion does not support homosexuality, I am against treating gays as subhumans or criminals. Am against this "stone them to death attitude". It's wrong. Take away their sexuality and what are they? Human beings like you and I. You can preach repentance and redemption not condemnation. God reserves the right to condemn anyone. God, not human beings, destroyed Sodom. It is up to him to decide the fate of gays not us. If I have a gay child, I will do what is expected as a parent and a good christian. Outside that, there's nothing I can do but to leave it to God. If any of you wanting to stone gays found out that your father was actually gay but got married to avoid stimatization, would you kill him? We are not innocent of other sins. If we have committed any other sins (including but not limited to premarital and extramarital sex, masturbation, lust) and even smaller things like lying, then we have no moral standing to condemn others. God wants us to preach repentance and redemption, not condemnation and apathy.
BusinessRe: Lagos To Introduce Electric Vehicles In 2010[in A Blackout Nation] by proproman(m): 1:17am On Oct 24, 2009
@kobojunkie, not meaning any insult but, what exactly have you ratified on Nairaland? It may be that i've not followed all your posts but you don't seem to ratify anything government does. Again I don't mean any insult and, of course, you are entitled to your opinion but then I don't want to believe you are a pessimist. About the bicycle scheme, former minister of transportation, Ojo Madueke attempted to promote the use of bicycles. The result? He was labeled the bicycle minister by the press and people and Nigerians are still not massively riding bicycles till today. The fact is this; most Nigerians don't know what they want. All they know is the mantra of "good roads, pipe borne water, hospitals, electricity, schools, " and anything that does not sound like these is rubbish to them. I don't want to believe you are in that category. Fashola has done well for Lagos state and that can't be denied. But because some people did not hear him say "good roads, pipe borne water, hospitals, electricity, schools, " he's suddenly a non performer. Some one called him psychotic! Imagine that coming from someone living in Lagos and has seen the level of change and development that the man has brought to the state. Even if he proposed to fix the railway system, some people, because they did not hear "good roads, pipe borne water, hospitals, electricity, schools, " will try to shoot it down. I admit that the idea could be expensive and a little premature but you have to give him credit for at least thinking ahead. There are states in this same country where something like the BRT system would be a novelty to the state governor. I support Fashola because he's performed credibly well so far. As for Americans accepting the use of bicycles, well you know the priorities and thinking module of an average American is different from that of an average Nigerian. Tell a Nigerian banker to go to work on a bicycle in his suit because his work place is not far from his home? You've automatically become an enemy of progress. Most Nigerians look at cars as proof of success and accomplishment and bicycles as vehicles of the poor or just for exercise. You have to first change the mentality of the average Nigerian before that idea can work (and by the way, since it's not "good roads, pipe borne water, hospitals, electricity, schools, " they'll probably reject it anyways). When I state my opinion I consider both sides of the argument and I think everyone else should too.

PoliticsRe: Bankole To Niger Delta: Your Leaders Failed You by proproman(m): 2:29pm On Oct 20, 2009
You obviously misread and misunderstood my post. I was not trying to imply that the Federal government is to take all the blame> All am saying is that their hands are not clean in the issue as you guys make out. As Jesus said, let him who has no sin cast the first stone. The Federal have lots of sins yet they are throwing a barrage of stones at all and sundry yet claim innocence. You must admit that if blame is to be shared, everybody culpable should get a share not jus one party.

He does not have to say it, it is NO NEW NEWS. Even on the international front, it is clear that Nigeria has yet another useless president. BUT that is NO EXCUSE FOR INACTION on the part of State and LG governments. Bankole is not the AUTHOR and FINISHER of all things truth. He is just another person contributing his part in the ND debate. No need to suddenly expect him to hold 100% when we aLL know now that he is another politician.
Is that an excuse for them not to perform, because all the previous governments have failed? If that is what you are implying then we better be set for hell because Nigeria will never get better. The fact that it is no news that corruption is endemic in this country does not mean we should do nothing about it. Would you sit back and accept being told you're a scammer by a foreigner because Nigerians have a reputation of being scammers? That is not an excuse, please.

What Bankole has done is essentially give the ND what it requested --National attention. He did not say he is INTERESTED IN SPEAKING THE TRUTH. ND states (people) demanded attention to their issue and this is part of what you get when you do that. I expected people welcome this development and make sure the debate does not end by offering up meaningful rebuttals, at the same time acknowledging the valid points made.
National attention my foot. What the NDeltans are asking for is development, National attention in deed not words. So by his pronouncement, he's saying that FG has nothing to do for them and they should query the state government. As for your insinuation that state governments should take over the FGs responsibilities because the FG is inactive, don't let a state governor hear you on that. Why not the FG stop giving allocation to states and tell them to go and raise their own revenue? I say again, let the FG fix its infrastructure first. What is the USE of having a government that does nothing? So you would prefer that the FG does nothing and the states do everything. The FG is supposed to set an example for the States to follow and that is what is obtainable in some states. the LG does nothing because the SG does nothing, the SG does nothing because the FG does nothing. Whatver country you are in works not because the State government works alone but because the Federal government works as well.

Even with the state of federal schools, there are now hundreds more non-federal schools that are managed by private individuals and groups and even state, to provide the service that the federal schools in the state have refused to provide. There are state hospitals to fill in the gap created by the federal hospitals etc.
Non federal school-> state or private schools. Since the FG is inactive, the SG (by your insinuation) should fix and build roads, provide security one way or another, pay teachers and lecturers, build hospitals and health care centers, generate power somehow, provide potable water and basically do everything. How much do you think the State government recieves that it can start taking up the responsibilities of the FG in addition to its own? The SG has it's own schools (where it has not paid all its teachers salaries), hospitals (where doctors are planning strike), roads (which are not all fixed) etc. That Fashola fixed some Federal roads does not mean that all state roads are good now. He just had to fix them with the money he should have used to fix state roads. So the state roads suffer because of FG's responsibility. Are you saying this is good? By the way, not everyone can afford private facilities. I know how much my dad spent sending four out of five of us to private secondary schools. We consequently had to attend Federal Universities. Now we are on strike. Is this a good thing?
PoliticsRe: ~Have You Ever Denied Your Country(Nigeria)? . . .~ by proproman(m): 7:41am On Oct 20, 2009
@biolabee, God bless you for that post. All of una wey dey claim diehard Nigerians, make una keep quiet! Most of you are not even in the country, a lot of you were not born here or did not grow up here, that's why you feel you have the moral standing to castigate those that have denied the country. Well, if you did not go through what they have gone through, suffered what they have suffered, then my dears you have no right to claim justification for castigation. When any of you get married and have kids, take that child to Nigeria, drop him or her with a relative in Ajegunle or Orile. Come back for your child in 15 years. If the child does not deny the country twelve times over at a go and even deny you the parent for claiming Nigeria, then you will know that things have gotten better. Why suffer in this country and still suffer outside it. If denying Naija will give the same opportunities and treatment as others from other countries, i don't really blame the denier. Anyway, i don't blame anybody. I blame our siddon look attitude and pray without ceasing mantra. Prayer alone will not solve our problem in this country. Our leaders see us as toothless dogs that can only make noise and I must say we are toothless dogs and we have to borrow teeth. At least the French and Ghanaians took initiative not siddon look.
CelebritiesRe: Who Cares If Omotola Jalade Has Ten Children She Needs to Loose The Weight by proproman(m): 6:20am On Oct 20, 2009
@ poster, you are so damn right. A lot of Nigerian women are living in self denial. They see getting fat after child birth as a norm that nothing can be done about when they can actually do something. They don't even take the health implications into consideration. It is one thing if you're naturally on the big side. Whoever marries you would not be surprised by the fat but our focus is on women that were once slim and fit and after marriage and kids become obese and heavy. I know a woman, a neighbour who had four kids and still looked ok. She ate healthy foods worked out and still had time with the kids. Working out does not mean spending a whole day at the gym. Taking 10 to thirty minutes out of every day to exercise will not do any harm. Is anything wrong in looking slim and good after getting married? No wonder some men chase after young girls after their erstwhile lepacious wives become bags of rice. Some women think all men just love to cheat but that's not right. A cheating man goes after what he can't find in his home: A good looking, attractive woman. The days of Nigerian men loving their women fat is far gone. The sooner all married women realize it, the better for their marriages.
PoliticsRe: Lagos Governor Calls For State Police by proproman(m): 4:17am On Oct 19, 2009
@DrKing, so Fashola is a selfish, embezzling governor now. As far as i'm concerned, Lagos needs as much security as it can get given its population. I don't blame the governor for asking for state police given the ineptitude of the Federal Government provided security agencies. If it were any other Governor, i would have smelt a rat but this guy has shown commitment to the development of Lagos state. Am sure the structure of the state police will be different from that of KAI or  LASMA (who, i must admit, are just thugs in uniform).
HealthRe: We Perform Surgeries With Torch Lights - Doctors by proproman(m): 12:24pm On Oct 18, 2009
@bikini, am sure you won't allow a street rascal, no matter how warm hearted, treat you when you are ill. You seem to have serious beef against the doctors. Not every doctor is as nasty as you make it out. I have been to several federal hospitals and am yet to find a really foul tempered doctor like you've painted. It's usually the nurses that play that role. Seriously, you ought to give kudos to those doctors that, given the conditions the work in, wake up every morning and go to the hospital to attend to patients. Maybe you should take a day of and go to any of the federal health care institutions around you. You will find out that most times, you'll have a situation where ten doctors have to attend to about a thousand patients, that's 1 to 100. I tell you it's disheartening when you finish attending to one patient, you know there are about sixty others waiting outside. Most patients want the doctor to spend lots of time with them but you can only get such a luxury in private hospitals, if you can afford it. The doctor would like to attend to all his patients so he can have some time to himself. You can't blame him for getting frustrated. If you were in their shoes, you would also be frustrated no matter how cool and level headed you are. I can bet you that. There is so much pressure, so little equipment, really terrible environment and not enough time. Consider all these and you'll know why some doctors do get angry especially if you criticize their profession because the doctor name is the only thing that gives them pride. Apart from that, there's nothing much else for them to be proud of. You have to give them credit for trying. If after reviewing all these you still think they deserve all the aspersions you are casting, well there are many rascals out there that can give you treatment when you are ill. Am sure they will give you a discount.
PoliticsRe: Bankole To Niger Delta: Your Leaders Failed You by proproman(m): 11:28am On Oct 18, 2009
@Kobojunkie, not meaning any insult but, are you in the country at all or have you been here recently? Your opinion that the Niger Delta leaders should shoulder 90% of the blame (because that is what your posts have illustrated so far) is quite wrong. Here's how. If you've been in the country, you'll definitely know this. Finger pointing is very much part of Nigerian politics as New York is part of the United States. When fingers are pointed in Nigerians politics, it is not for truth but to take suspicion away from self. Bankole spoke the truth but he was insincere and economical with it. Is the Federal government not to blame as well for the problems in the Niger Delta? You may argue that the same can be said about other states but since the focus is on the Niger Delta, the question remains. Know this if you've not realised it yet. If the Federal government sat up to it's responsibility, more than half the problems in all the states in the country would be solved. Most of the major roads in all states of the federation are in the purview of the FG. It is also it's responsibility to provide security as the Nigerian police is overseen by a federal agency. There are Federal schools in more or less all the states, federal hospitals, power supply from a national grid overseen by an FG appointed board, etc. If I continue, i wouldn't be able to list it all. If the FG can fix their infrastructure in all the states they can then start pointing fingers at the state and regional leaders if things remain the same. If Bankole was really interested in speaking the truth, he should as well have mentioned the FG's part of the blame. He even criticised the FG without meaning to. He said that Lagos has witnessed so much development because of good governance meaning that the Niger Delta's lack of development is due to bad governance. What then would he say of the whole country that has witnessed next to no development under the Yar'Adua administration? Terrible governance? If he wanted to speak the truth, he should have spoken the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth not this half baked truth.

@akigbewhatever, i don't blame whoever said nairaland is full of ethnic bigots. Obviously, it's people like you that cause others to think such. What was the aim of your unnecessary, aimless, tribalistic rant? If you feel you cannot have one Nigeria with other tribes in the country, pack your bags and leave the country. Relocate to Benin Republic as becomrich proposed. Beyond your ignoble rant, what have you as an individual done to better the lot of your people? How have you helped develop the society around you? Am sure you don't pay tax, yet you come here and utter rubbish like you've done everything right. Mr man go and learn how to look at things objectively instead of through ethnic lenses. You can reply me after you've paid your tax in full. You are not a Yoruba person alone. You are also a Nigerian and if all you're concerned with is promoting your tribe and not your country, then you don't deserve to be Nigerian. Maybe Somalia will fit you better. "hiss". angry

Am sure they will be pleased to follow you.

Nairalanders really love to blow hot and cold. Today they're accusing Bankole tomorrow, they're praising him. Before y'all start praising him and giving him the title "Defender of Democracy", get this straight. He may have spoken the truth about Lagos but then, what else could he have said? Which other state could he have used as an example. Which other state has witnessed so much development in a short period as Lagos state? Politicians in Nigeria sometimes tell the truth so they can sound sincere but the fact is until they act out their sincerity, they can't be believed. Yar'Adua said the elections that brought him to power was flawed. That was the truth but what has he done about it? If he was sincere, he would have enforced electoral reform by now or quit then but he did not. His defence now is that an electoral tribunal declared his election valid but we all know the truth. Ibori is about to be let off the hook (you can bet me on that). That tells you a lot about the Judiciary in Nigeria, the "last bastion of hope for the common man". This is an opportunity for the judiciary to write it's name in gold, to put a corrupt person where he belongs but am sure they will not, afterall "greasing of palms" is still very much in existence. This is the low down. Both the Federal goverment and the Niger Delta leaders are corrupt. Questions should be asked of both. If the Federal government want to be blameless in this issue, they should play their part first. If the region remains the same after this, then they can put the blame solely on the shoulders of the Niger Delta leaders. Sometimes, the truth is told to deceive.

Wow. For once Nairalanders are defending the federal government. Let's face it there are problems on both sides. While am not totally at home with the idea of bombings and shootings, it seems like violence and force is the only language the Nigerian government understands. Why did the government have to wait for the Ndeltans to start agitating before listening to them? Why did the government wait for lecturers to go on a four month strike before paying them any attention ? Before we start condemning MEND we have to xray the kind of government we have. Nigerians have been crying out for development, electoral reform and so many other things but nothing happens. People die everyday on those death traps called federal roads and the roads remain the same. I can assure you that if Nigerians start agitating violently, government will be forced to listen and act accordingly. I don't know why our goverment chooses to act at critical moments and not when they have opportunity to get things right. The stadia in some states have been renovated because of the under 17 world cup meaning that if Nigeria were not hosting it, those stadia will remain decripit. Let us take a look at our government and ask ourselves if MEND are really to blame.

I've used joomla for quite a while now and though it's a very flexible and extensible cms, i found that customizing the standard joomla core to fit my requirements was rather difficult. I went in search of other cms and downloaded about twenty five but none of them was as extensible as joomla so i returned to, well, joomla. The story here is that when i returned to using joomla, i went in search of templates with modified quickstart cores. I came across yootheme's way beyond quickstarter and decided to give it a shot. It was exactly what i had been looking for. It was customizable to every letter and i must say thumbs up to yoo for such a great theme. Although the template is normally premium (you pay for it), there are sites where you can get them for free. Not just yoothemes but gavick pro, icetheme, joomlaxtc, rockettheme, joomla bamboo, you joomla themes and more premium themes. Check out premiumjoomlatemplates..com.

Forget all that crap about communication. If they love each other, they will eventually communicate. Stuff like these sorta lighten up the marriage and make things more interesting (if they know when to stop). They will laugh it off later and will be pleased to remember it. Relationships are not all about being the seriously dedicated lovers. A little competition would be just right to spice things up and make the relationship stronger. (remember, i said little competition!). Sorta reminds me about secondary school. I had quite some unhappy moments but i won't trade memories of those days for anything. Same applies to such moments in a marriage or a relationship.

@theblessed, you are wide off the mark. This has nothing whatsoever to do with the FG. The FG will not sponsor it. If the Governor of Imo thinks his state needs an international airport, it's up to him to seek funding and not to wait for the federal government.

@OviE, Why must everything government does be viewed in terms of common man and food? Do you know the merits of a new int. airport, how many jobs it would create, how it could boost economic activity (esp. in relation to the planned Lekki free trade zone)? How long will the money feed these so called hungry people? If the government starts feeding them, they will become lazy and complacent. The money will eventually run out and what happens then? This is a good thing and it shows that Governor Fashola has a good head on his shoulders.

@davidif, stop saying (or writing) that stuff. I hate it. England did NOT invent football. Stop swallowing all this propaganda the English FA use to sell their league. The earliest known similarity to modern football was played by Greeks and Romans and the Aztecs and Incas, a mostly south american to mexican civilization (does it suprise you that Brazil, Argentina and other South American countries play the best football and produce the best players? These guys know football to its roots). The other people known to play something like football in the ancient times were the inuit eskimoes who kicked a walrus head around and at each other as a form of pastime. They eventually used an air filled ball made from walrus skin or other materials. Even the Chinese were known to play a form of football from about 400 bc. The japanese too, played a game called kemari that was very similar to modern day football. They even used nets. England was not one of these places. These people had nothing whatsoever to do with the English game wise. All the English did was to introduce modern codes to the game and not all of the codes were by the English. Football is much older than England. Do your research before spreading falsehood.

Nairaland GeneralIs Religion A Setback To Nigeria's Development? by proproman(op): 4:27am On Oct 01, 2009
Nigeria is about to clock 49 and it is no better than it started out 49 years ago if not worse. For 49 years, Nigerians have prayed, "may it get better, in Jesus' name", but have these prayers been adequate? Haven't people prayed this same prayer for donkey years and things still remain the same, if not worse? Is it not time that Nigerians put more action than prayer? To me, all this religious talk is to avoid doing the hard work and taking the risks that will rid us of corruption and corrupt people. The people that have truly prayed for this country have done so and things have not changed. Am not doubting the efficacy of prayer, but sometimes, God wants us to do it ourselves, with his help, no doubt, and I think that is the case of Nigeria. We know what is wrong with our country, we know what to do to correct it but we just sit and hope things change automatically. God is not a magician. He doesn't just wave his wand and things become alright. We have to show seriousness by putting effort and God helps us through. It's just like asking God for food and asking him to spoon feed you after providing it. Some Nigerians don't want this country to get better because they are benefiting from the way it is now. I think it's time we stopped using religion as a shield and an excuse if we want things to improve. Or what do you guys think?
