nigerians have got to be the moat hypocritical set of people in the world. it is really suprising how osaze has gone from being "the spine of the super eagles" to "a worthless player", "without talent", "not special"and "undeserving of wearing Nigeria's jersey". against ethiopia, when nsofor was shooting the ball at everything except the goal post, weren't some of you here calling for osaze to be subbed in? now he's a useless player we can do without. i agree, twitter isn't the best place to air your views but we don't know the details of what transpired and how strongly osaze might have felt about it. yet everyone feels they must run their mouths here. if you have at one time hailed him as a good player then come around here to call him wortless, then i suggest you check yourself for serious hypocrisy. na wa for una o. no wonder our dual nationals choose to play for other countries as they know the nigerian kind of appreciation and support. i no dey blame agbonlahor again. na wa o! |
@aisha2, and that is, the discussion does concern politics doesn't it? |
ha, i thought the multiple id thing would be carefully avoided on this particular thread but i'm apparently very wrong. you can spew insults till the kingdom come, i'll hardly be bothered. what sort of campaigner convinces people to see reason with him or his cause by insulting them? wether these posts lauding your prowess (at what, i will not state) are from other nairalanders or are being engineered by other "yous" here on nairaland is not my headache. i have sha given you the low down. your jonathan must give us the heaven he's promising us through you else you'll have to answer to Nairalanders.it would be unfair that you'll keep up this grandstanding only to dissappear when the hotseats shows up. |
Dear Mr Beaf, I have intended to create this thread for a while now but due to certain circumstances beyond my control (like my ISP) i have been unable to. However, it may be a good thing because if I had posted this earlier, it would be in no way complementary, but given that the elections will soon be over and done with and with it, hopefully, this your aggressive "political activism", i've decided to be a bit more open minded and toe a middle line. Over the past few weeks, you have raved, ranted, hollered, insulted, bullied and argued here on Nairaland in favour of your preferred presidential candidate. You've even gone as far as creatin multiple monikers to give us the impression that there are more people supporting you and your arguments. Well, I don't blame you. Many of us will go far to shore up support for our preferred candidates, maybe not to the extent of anoying nearly everyone else in a public forum, but you get the point. I was speaking with a few friends about the coming polls. Some said they were going to vote Jonathan for a variety of reasons but they had a lot of faith in him. They expressed their hope in his ability to bring about the desired change. They said he was the most preferable of all the candidates. They said he was young and had a lot to offer, etc. All that I have heard already. However, I am addressing this thread to you because you have not just tried to convince us to vote Jonathan, you've also tried to force him down our throats. I'm not exactly against Jonathan, i believe all the aspirants have something to offer. I won't hug a transformer if he wins by legality or crookedity. However, it is what follows that matters to me. If your Jonathan wins this election and fails to deliver, then it will be your head that should be called for, not his. The way you have painted Jonathan on this forum, one would think he is a prime candidate for sainthood. Without apologies, i'm not sure Jonathan is what we need at this time. He doesn't strike me as being decisive enough. He hasn't posited himself as someone that thinks holistically, sometimes his decisions look like he failed to think of the consequences. Luck, as you like to have it, brought him to where he is, not proper politicking. In governance, luck can't take you far, so if you're expectimg some "luck" from, somewhere to fix Nigeria just because Jonathan is president, then I advise you to stop smoking whatever it is that you're on. He has been in government for quote a while, even longer than Fashola and we all know who has achieved more. I really don't want to mention that i don't expect much from his first lady as regards promoting Nigeria outside the shores of the country; her speeches inside it are bad enough. Then, of course, he belongs to that antidemocratic den called the pdp. Even of he has good intentions, i'm sure they won't allow him succeed. So you see, there's a lot to make not just me, but a whole lot of people skeptical about a Jonathan presidency. What Jonathan has going for him is his age relative to that of the other aspirants and the fact that he is from the SS and Nigerians are largely tired of Notherners being our leaders an not a track record of performing at the highest level. For me personally, competence comes way ahead of age and tribe. If an 85 year old man will change Nigeria for the better, then we'd better hand him the reins than giving it to a 50 year old that will keep things the same or make it worse. Before you call me a Ribadu or Buhari or Shekarau apologist, i support none of these people. They all have their faults that have been highlighted here on nairaland, some by you but seeing as nobody has rubbed them in our faces the way you've done with Jonathan, i find it unnecessary to pursue their cases as yet. This is the bottom line of my post; if your Jonathan wins this erection, sorry election, and then fails Nigerians, you better hope that none of us lays our fingers on you because you will have a lot of explaining to do. At that time, i don't want us to have to search for you on NL and that you won't create a new moniker (something you're now apparently quite good at) to escape our queries. We have endured your actions here so there will be no excuses for failure from you patron |
that goodluck biscuit looks less like a product from a reputable company than all the others. i hope the same does not apply to the man. |
ok. that was silly on one hand, but hilarious on the other. what can't photoshop achieve with pix? |
look, this is a traditional setting. if the cursing and everything is part of their tradition, then let them be. in our own traditional settings, our traditional leaders do certain things that we might not consider as modern but most of us respect them. maybe we should also learn to respect other people's traditional beliefs. |
@ poster, ok its about time you stop riling people up for nothing. I don't know why some of you just whip up tribal sentiment here on nairaland just for the fun of seeing sparks fly and tempers frayed. What sort of enjoyment can one get from such a pointless excercise? I really believe you can act much more matured than that. |
We're talking about universities, that's a bit too far. Let's talk about our high schools, the secondary schools. I gave up on the Nigerian system of education, not when after my first two years at the federal university of technology, owerri but after my first term in ss1. I was in science class and i was all so eager to start learning everything and anything. I had a particular interest in chemistry right from jss1 so it was no surprise that the first subject i took seriously in ss1 was chemistry. A friend of mine (who, despite being told that he wasn't suited for science class by an aptitude test conducted by an external board for jss3 students in my school to determine what class students should be placed in ss1 (though the final decision lay with the student sha), still went on to join science class) had these two foreign chemistry textbooks i took serious interest in given that they were recently first published (like a year ago at that time) as against that supplied by the school (that was first published twelve years ago). Our chemistry teacher, a woman, had given us the subject outline for the term, for those of us that wanted to read ahead of classes. Of course i quickly delved into the foreign books as they were very clear, concise, illustrative and even funny (they had some cartoon strips drawn, i remember mr max atom and his three kids, neutron atom, proton atom and electron atom, lol.). Understanding basic principles of chemistry with those book was so easy. Before long, i was far ahead of the rest of the class in our chemistry curriculum. Now, i'd calculation of empirical and molecular formulae in those books and they'd presented it in a very easy to understand and apply system so i started using it to solve problems on that topic. Now our first assesment test for chemistry was entirely on empirical and molecular formulae. I used the method i learnt from the books to solve the questions and got each of them right so imagine my surprise when our test scripts were returned and i got a big, fat zero. The woman then wrote at the bottom; "is this what i taught you?" Or geography class. Our teacher had told us jupiter had twelve moons. An encyclopaedia reported that jupiter had well over eighteen moons or satelites. So when the first assesment tests came up and a question read "how many moons does jupiter have?" and i answered "eighteen" (i felt it would be silly not to be specific and write something like "well over eighteen" , this man failed me.Since then, i stopped trying to show any recent discoveries i've come across that contradicts or invalidate what a teacher has said. Whatever they said is to be swallowed hook, line and sinker, which i did, regurgitated it all on test and exam days and passed adequately. So you see why it seems easy here in Nigeria. Our lecturers don't want to bother with improving themselves and the fact that they're so egoistical means they'll also try to make sure that everyone below them stays behind them. It is a thing of pride for departments and lecturers to have mass failures and boast that "no student get an A in my course" not as a means of challenging them to strive towards an A but to inform them that he/she is the alpha and omega in that course znd they'd need to suck up to him/her to pass. In more civilized places, you would be queried if large numbers of students in your tutelage fail courses because it is your duty to provide them with the requisite knowledge to pass the coursr and if they fail in such large numbers, then it should be because you have failed in your duties as an imparter of knowledge. its such a sick system. |
ok, that was rather misleading. for one, there's nowhere in the article that says tinubu and co nearly died. neither is there anywhere that its stated that they blamed fej and the pdp for it. so i don't know what all this noise from the pro and anti pdp elements is all about. |
Now you arsenal fans are getting rather annoying. Answer the following; 1) Did Koscielny deserve a red on at least two different occasions or not? Oho, so the ref wasn't biased not to have sent him off abi. If van persie had not been sent off, koscielny definitely would have. Whichever way you look at it, Arsenal deserved to be a man down yesterday. 2) was messi'a goal in the first leg legal or not? If you have any doubts about the validity of the goal, visit goal.com or youtube, watch the video and tell me where you see an infringement. Aha, the ref was perfect in that match, ba? Because arsenal won that match. The ref wasn't biased abi. If that goal had stood, barcelona would have two away goal and arsenal would have needed to score twice at the camp nou to get to the next round. Considering they couldn't muster just a shot, how much more, one on target, i wonder how they would have achieved that. 3) did messi deserve to be awarded a penalty in the first half or not. Ehen, the ref's eyes were clearer then, wasn't it and he hadn't been paid ridiculous sums to help barca win, eh? Or are you saying it wasn't a penalty? Soft penalty call or not is no excuse, Arsenal have had soft penalty calls in their favour and their fans rejoiced and saw nothing in it. Abi una wan claim say every penalty call una get, una deserve am? Now barca were given what was clearly a penalty and are crying blue murder. I find it appalling that certain fans failto address the root problem in their team and blame their problems on the ref, or linesman, or the opposing team or the opposing fans. Arsenal were totally outplayed and needed an own goal to give them hope. What did you guys expect to win from, another own goal? Your team played poorly, deserved to lose, accept it and stop blaming the ref. All of you just watch, if arsenal loses to man u in the fa cup, it will be the ref's fault and man u being "pdp". Do you guys ever listen to yourselves? If i were an arsenal fan, i would be pissed at my teams poor play and admit that we were second best the whole match. There was no way Arsenal was going to win that fixture playing like that, trying to park the bus when you don't have the players for it. Inter Milan were a man down at the camp nou last season, if i'm not mistaken, for a longer period than Arsenal were a man down yesterday. Yet they defended gallantly and fully deserved their qualification. Look at it this way; if the ref hadn't given van persie a red, then koscielny definitely should have had one, true or false? If the ref didn't award pedro a penalty, he should have awarded one messi in the first half, true or false. So either way, there should have been at least a penalty and a sending off last night. Imagine Arsenal fans complaining of the ref awarding barca many fouls, what did you expect? Who held the ball last nite and who did the chasing? So who should have been fouling who? Abegi, you people have no excuse. When you don't play a shot on target, yet hope to score and win a match, that's the height of unrealistic expectations. Arsenal were just not up to it. All this "one day, one day" you guys are hollering is just hilarious. It's the same way Nigerians address political problem, just blame someone else for your problems, instead of addressing them. You guys are saying uefa have made plans against epl teams, abi? I laugh in swahili. When Arsenal lost to Newcastle, and their fans were chanting biased referee like it was a new religious chorus, was uefa "planning" against an eplteam in an epl competition? Una go soon talk say na uefa make koscielny and scsczeny get brain touch when them give martins through pass make im score awoof goal. Play poorly and lose, get over it, arsenal should improve their squad. Who expects me to believe in an Arsenal side that were handed a trophy on a platter of gold, theirs for the taking, yet handed it over to martins and birmingham, a side that failed to muster a shot on target against a team they'd beaten three weeks earlier. Infact, you guys can go and hug a transformer and give it a big, wet kiss for good measure. Guardiola can afford to say the red wasn't deserved because his team is already through. Na wa for una o, Koscielny deserve red, una no see am, una no fit remember am, messi deserve penalty, una no see am, una no remember am, dem come give vp red, give pedro penalty, una come dey shout dem mama. Infact sef, una dey vex person. Tell Wenger to build a squad that can play barca mano a mano, man to man, not one that needs own goals to get on the score sheet. I used to praise Arsenal fans for being faithful to their club despite years of trophy drought. Now i deride them for abject naiveity. |
You arsenal fans must be having a gunners laugh. What, van perdie didn't hear the referees whistle? Did he start playing football yesterday? Has he not played in other high profile matches with lots of noise, even more noise than was being made by the barca fans? So how come its today he stopped hearing the referees whistle? For one, nobody asked him to get himdelf needlesly booked for the first yellow. Fact is that, van persie was already showing signs of frustration even before he got a red for kicking the ball after the whistle. He made the most noise when mascherano brought wilshere down, he tried shoving mascherano? which was what got him the first yellow. What stops anyone from thinking he kicked the ball out of frustration after being waved offside. As for the "i did not hear the whistle" excuse, it falls flat. Okay, if the ref lets him go, then another player does the same thing and also claims not to have heard the whistle, what would you guys then have the ref do, buy a bigger whistle? Believe me when i say that the whistles referees us are made to be easily very loud BECAUSE THE MAKERS KNOW THEY WILL BE USED IN ENVIRONMENTS WITH LOTS OF NOISE. It's why even we the viewers hear the referee's whistle, because its loud enough for the camera microphones to pick up. The ref did the right thing. U guys don't remember him not awarding messi a penalty in the first half, or not handing koscielny a red on at least three different occasions. You all choose to be blind when it suits you. There was a time not too long ago that walcott won arsenal penalties in two different matches and i considered them rather soft. But an arsenal fan said that for the fact that walcott was tripped in the penalty box, a penalty had to be awarded. Now the ref is "biased" because he gave something similar. Don't even start with "this is a high profile fixture and cards shouldn't be handed out like that" routine. Refereeing has standards and the standards remain constant regardless of the fixture. So if you think "because its barca and arsenal that are playing, it shouldn't be a red card", then maybe you should go and rewrite fifa's statutes to make certain such allowances in such fixtures. Why can't y'all just accept you lost to the better team and be pissed at your coach who tried to park the bus despite not having the players or tactical nous for it. U're such sore losers. A whole game and not a shot on target and yet you blame the ref? Are u kidding me? In this very same fixture, last season, were inter milan not a man down? Did they still qualify or not? Was messi's goal in the first leg legal or not. O the ref was not biased then, he was just doing his job, abi. Now, the ref is bought with money, mcchew. U guys threw away the carling cup, failed to beat sunderland and reduce man u's lead to a point, lost to a team you couldn't muster a shot against, how much more on target, and u're expecting pity? Tell your coach to try again later. Every time, ref dey against arsenal, each time arsenal loses they have an excuse to give, ah ah! Abi dem winch una? Abegi, arsenal were shahyte and thoroughly got what they deserved. Their fans come come here dey form victimized. Mccheww. Una no go tell una self truth |
i can't believe someone is or some people are trying to justify Dame Patience's poor command of the country' lingua franca! No, it's just wrong to even try to justify it. How many of you will like to listen to your children, no, your parents address a gathering of people with a good command of the english language. Stop deceiving yourselves, there are first ladies from countries that do not have English as an official language yet speak the language to near perfection. Don't even tell me about how she grew up or wether she went to school or not. This is not her village, and she will not be travelling abroad to address (her fellow) market women or widows. She embarrasses Nigerians, yes even the man in the bush, when she speaks like that. Some people are here talking about wanting good governance and that good english won't provide that. Fine, look for one man from the creeks and bushes of okrika (no offence to okrika people, just using it as an instance) who has never read a line before, even from a book in his own language and install him as president, then expect him to do well. Believe it or not, your spoken English is one of the most visible signs of the kind of education you recieved growing up. What question do people ask of those who murder english on a regular basis? Did this person go to school at all, innit? Yet english is just one out of a number of subjects taught in school. Not saying GEJ should marry a new wife, language is a rather flimsy excuse for divorcing your spouse or marrying another, afterall, he wasn't deaf when he married her. But he has to MAKE SURE she learns to speak better English. Dangitt, and someone was complaining about Turai's accented but ok spoken english. The best madam Dame Patience's English can do is convince other first ladies to pressurize their husbands into getting their countries to invest in education in Nigeria (which is not bad, IMO ) |
@symbianDON, well since your phone is similar to mine, maybe you should help me with setting it up with other applications. @emmanuel, i don't even get edge. So you see, from 3.5g to plain gprs is a huge drop for me. I'm back to my mtn 100mb a month subscription. However, i still want to see if this 15mb can still work ok and faster so it doesn't go to waste. |
come on now, i have nothing against etisalat. I'm just sharing my perdonal experience. I bought the line last week and tried recharging it so i could get and use the 15mb. I was asked to first register the line before i could recharge and start browsing. I did that the next day. The day after that, i tried it again and i could check my airtime balance. Immediately, i loaded 200 and got the 15mb. I use a nokia 5230, a touchscreen smartphone. I have lots of apps that require the internet for me to get the best out of them. Of them all, only my web browser worked. Same for a firend of mine using a c5. As regards the speed, maybe we have different definitions of fast and slow. On my mtn sim, i get 3.5g connectivity (that's up to 3.6mbps of bandwith transfer). Anyone with even a basic knowledge of intrrnet speeds would know its way faster than plain gprs which is what i get on etisalat (i rarely ever get edge). So maybe what i consider as slow is ok with you guys (no insults intended) but i need more than that. As for thinking i'm trying to anti market etisalat, y'all must be having a good old etisalat laugh. I have nothing to do with any of the networks except being a subscriber on more than one of them. If you can bring up any post of mine in which i bad mouthed etisalat or any of its services (except on this thread), i'll never use a phone again. Can't someone relate his personal experiences without being called another beaf? |
Not too long ago, etisalat started offering 15mb free data services (internet access) for a week for each N200 recharge for its easycliq subscribers. now of course, you may ask yourself "what's the difference between that and mtn's 10mb for N100 for 24 hrs?". well for one you get one week to exhaust the15mb as against mtn's paltry one day. and its free in the sense that nothing is deducted from your N200 recharge for the 15mb as against mtn shovelling the N100 to give you 10mb. before you start rejoicing and going in search of easycliq sim cards or migrating to easy cliq so you can enjoy awoof, here's a little advance warning. For one, the 15 mb only works with your phone's native browser and nothing else. Not opera, bolt, ucweb, ebuddy, nimbuzz, ,migg33, nothing! So if you were planning to do a little 2go-ing with awoof 15mb, think again. Second and most important, it is so frickin slow. So slow, i wanted to weep for the speed. Apparently, etisalat are offering us 15 mb free but don't intend to allow us make use of it. Forget that guy in etisalat's easicliq advert, if he was actually using that "free" 15mb an smiling like that, then hemust have been high on something very strong that ww don't know about. it is mind wrecking slow. But for the fact that i had extreme self control, i might have thrown my phone at the nearest wall and shattered it to pieces. That's how frustrating the speed of etisalat's "free" 15mb is. You may not be so lucky, however, so if you love your phone, money and mental balance, better get an mtn line for your mobile internet needs. Na now i sabi say awoof dey turn bele. |
wow, i didn't know there were many anti-dbanj-ists. i don't know why some guys here are harping on about his singing. the guy has made it clear that he's an entertainer, not a necessarily a singer. he entertains, nigerians are entertained, everyone's happy. if you're not entertained, go and find what rocks your boat, instead of pouring sand-sand into other people's garri. |
i am really disappointed in some Nairalanders. How some of una go dey reason like dis? You all know what Jonathan did or did not mean. for one, Jonathan did not mention anyone's name, the thread poster just created blanks and then filled them in. Most of you just know this just a case of wrong choice of words but some rabble rousers here just want to get people to hate on Jonathan. All Jonathan was trying to imply was that the PDP has the best candidates in the coming elections. While I definitely don't agree with that, I don't think its best to simply ignore what he obviously meant in favour of what he did not just because you don't endorse his aspirations. an obvious case of wrong choice of words some people here are taking advantage of here. before anyone starts calling me a GEJ zombie, lemme just make it clear that I don't have a reputation of being one, wether on Nairaland or elsewhere. infact i am very pro fashola as some of my posts will attest. however, i can't stand the blatant misinformation going on here, its things like this that are pulling this country backwards. (and before you post a reply to a thread, PLEASE READ THE FIRST POST. I can tell some people didn't read beyond the thread's title) |
Nice |
Am rather glad someone else has noticed this. Nigerians have really gone off with this enemies thing. Of course, it's normal to have enemies, both those you know and those you don't. However, it's not normal to obsess over them like they control your life (xcept you believe they do). Some people go to great lengths to deal with "enemies" both real and unreal. Infact, at least half the number of enemies people think they have are usually imaginary. But that's not it. What the poster is trying to say is not that we should ignore the existence of enemies but not to kill ourselves over them. If an enemy doesn't wish you well, then let that the be the person's problem to think of. If you believe there is a greater power than that of your enemies (for religious adherents), then you should let your supreme being fight your battles instead of worrying yourself while you still believe that your 5od can deal with your enemies. It's people who don't believe there is a solution to their problem of enemies that spend time worrying about them. However, if you don't believe there's someone or something greater than your "enemies", knock yourself out worrying about them. Peace. |
Ha, Kobo, what did you do to cause the illustrious Banom to spew Venom? You guys must have had battle royale on one of these threads, right? Poor Banom,he's now officialy a member of the "we hate kobojunkie" group, a quite burgeoning group of people here on Nairaland .Kobo, wetin dey happen na? |
I don't hate Mikel but as far as he can't reproduce for nigeria what he does for Chelsea, not a fan. |
Nigerians are one, funny kettle of fish. Some of you say Soyinka's too old. Well, what the heck are you "younger people" doing? Did anyone bind y'all with chains and prevent you from forming the political party? If you feel you're young enough and have a good agenda, go and join a political party and make a difference. Or form one. Just stop casting aspersions at someone who has put himself on the line more than several times because of your ungrateful selves. |
Nairaland has lots of controversial characters but who, in your opinion is that person that's always on the wrong side of popular opinion, the most controversial Nairalander? Views, |
paddy_lo, i doff my cap. you definitely know what you're talking about |
@Beaf, na God wey go have mercy for your you. ROTFLMAO. You've been infected with the mapo virus. You need a cure from Dr Maurice Iwu. |
@Ezeuche, not a big fool, I assure you. Just someone who can never agree with someone else if that person's opinion is different no matter how salient the person's points are. If that's your definition of a big fool, then Kobojunkie is by all means one. I've thrown a challenge to her (i'm assuming the sex since i see a big, purple "f" beside the screenname) on social crusading. She's neither taken it up or turned it down. Just nimbly side stepped it and went on making new old points (no mistake here with the new and old). Dede1 that was in support of her has either lost interest or understands my stance as I expect most people that read this thread have. i don't know wether she's keeping this up for the fun of it or she actually doesn't get my point. I'm not asking her to join Nigerians in worrying about the zoning formula (heck, she's not in the country. She doesn't have to worry about anything). All I want her to do is to understand Nigerians' worries but she keeps on reeling out bobloblawslawblog. Anyways, she has a reputation for being like this on Nairaland. Guess she's just tryin to keep it up. |
As for the tinted lens thing, i still stand by my words. Gani and Soyinka knew that getting Nigeria to change requires the crusader to be on ground, leading by example, not just typing it on Nairaland. You're probly somewhere in the US and you've seen how people stand for their rights. Well, that's cos the US has a better justice system than Nigeria and a better democratic structure. In Nigeria, the richer you are, the more cases you win. How do you expect a Nigerian who cannot boast of N500,000 in his account to stand against a corrupt politician with millions in a justice system where justice goes to the rich? Won't happen I tell you. Your stand up and fight mantra is actually calling for a revolution if you don't know that. It doesn't have to be a bloody revolution, just serious enough to change things permanently. You can't ask someone to stand for his rights. in a system where the odds form skyscrapers against him. It's like tying a boxer's hands and feet, blind folding him, then asking him to fight. He has lost from the beginning. I'm not trying to say we should stop trying. Just stating the obtainable. The problem in Nigeria is beyond monetary corruption. There's a systematic corruption which means the system has to change and everything else will follow. You don't have to worry about the PDP's zoning formula, i'm not begging you to. You just have to respect others that do so for good reason. |
@kobojunkie, I wasn't trying to tell you something new. Just telling you what is currently obtainable, you should know that by now. Gani, Wole Soyinka and Festus Keyamo are just three people out of over 150 million. In a society where people are less afraid and more ready to fight for themselves, those three could be enough but in Nigeria's case, those three are lone voices crying in the wilderness. Now Gani's dead, there are just two left and as you've indicated, Soyinka's tired of fighting for Nigerians. So I guess that leaves us with Festus Keyamo alone. I may not be telling you anything new but neither are you saying anything new. I hear the same things you've said at newspaper stands, BRT bus stops, on buses, on the streets, everywhere. Why then has Nigeria not chandeg for better? Again, it's all well and dandy for you to sit behind your pc and type out solutions in their thousands but getting the actual change to happen is on a totally different difficulty level. As i've pointed out, our crusaders are diminishing in numbers. You may consider relocating here to become Nigeria's next top social crusader! On a more serious note, with the way things are going, it would take something really drastic for Nigerians to stand up and fight for their countries, not just typing it on Nairaland. The curroption going on in Nigeria is far beyond what drove the French to a revolution, yet Nigerians are still mute. I can't tell you anything new cos what was obtainable then is still obtainable now. Neither can you tell me anything new cos nothing has changed. The job of a social crusader here in Nigeria is still up for grabs. You can come down and add concrete to your words cos right now, they're just hollow. |
@redman, got ya. You've made a good point. You're absolutely right. |
@Kobojunkie, what have Nigerians actually done that I should post about. Numerous political parties? Do you seriously think these study groups that call themselves political parties can win an election against the PDP? You're looking at this issue through tinted lens, tinted by what is obtainable in the USA. The Democrats and the Republicans can challenge themselves any day and any side can come out tops cos the US has a strong democratic structure and a credible electoral process. I ask you again, what have nigerians done to change the current status quo? As is currently obtainable, when it comes to presidential elections, Nigeria is an unofficial one party state. Does this mean that other parties don't field credible candidates? No. It just means that the PDP, through INEC, which it controls by proxy through the president wins elections even before it has started regardless of the efforts other parties have put into winning the elections and the credibility of other parties candidates. So you see, it's either free and fair elections or a revolution. This common sense you're talking about is not a rare commodity here in Nigeria. You're not bringing up a novel concept, Nigerians already know what you're on about. But the fact that nobody has done anything concrete to change things means that things will continue to be the same for a while. You know what that means? 1)PDP will continue to rule, 2) PDP will continue to control INEC, 3) PDP will continue to rig elections and, 4)PDP will produce our next president. I hope you can now see why Nigerians worry about the zoning formula. |
