flushing an engine with diesel or any engine flush has both pros and cons.

We might think that carbon accumulation in the engine is bad. but it is a real essential for any engine to run in full efficiency.
the carbon actually acts as a seal and sets the piston rings to the cylinders geometry and thus full compression is achieved. and as all of us would know, this is what happens during the running in period.
diesel or in this case any engine flush would act as a detergent that dissolves this carbon and takes it away making the rings to lose its tight fit causing decompression in the cylinder.
now the same thing happens when we switch from normal engine oil to synthetic oil after running the engine in normal oil for anything above 30,000kms. the synthetic oil has a detergent property that creates a similar problem.

Now, the pros
If engine flush is carried out frequently from new or if synthetic oil is used in early stages then you'll have a nice clean engine that is almost like new.

Moreover, This was one of many tricks used in the old days to keep an engine free from sludge. Oil technology has come a long way since and engines are burning cleaner than ever. With regular oil changes and a quality filter, sludge will not form to the point that you should need to do this.

what i think is NEVER FLUSH AN OLD ENGINE.
by old i mean by mileage an engine with 2000kms and 5 years old is still a virgin engine.

my point here is if you are thinking of flushing your engine because the existing oil is very old, i suggest you buy two types of oil. one cheap one and another regular oil that you want to use. after draining your old oil, pour in the cheap oil. run the engine for about 30 MINUTES and then drain it. now you have clean engine but with all the essential carbon in it. after this you can proceed with your normal oil and filter.

This is bullshit.. I did engine flush in my cars,Cls 500 and w202 benz c180(my mum's) , mehn the experience is perfect. Both cars return back to factory performance and mpg.. No crack was done to my seals, Well proven facts..

I use a HL as a daily car for years running and its got all I need in a vehicle and hasn't disappointed yet.

It is highly regrettable that a supposed educated car enthusiast should promote all sort of deception, even multiple thread names(Kingrein, Gazuzz, etc and what have you) just to lure a lame person, an unsuspected one into believing your Toyota myths against world acclaim sophisticated aesthetically autorist giant like MB, simply because he languishes in Toyota. He would even go extra miles to dig cow dung from internet to support his faulty claims against this world acclaimed giant- to the extent that he even start believing in his own very deceptions. It is most regrettable.

Let me tell you, no matter how you may promote that crap , that Lexus is just another bland Toyota but with some level of aesthetic, it still got the same poor suspensions, poor engine and life span, though you would polish this to be an achievement, it's still built with the same substandard pan and materials though you may have deceive yourself to be a pride , it's still limited in several instances just like the Toyota cheap materials and technology. The only Toyota i could pick out is the discontinued Supra and maybe Corrolla simply for fuel efficiency.

Your half bake HL is just an elevated Camry with same poor brakes, poor suspension, poor handling and every other poor items , i'm sure you know that, though you may keep on deceiving yourself and those unsuspected persons.

bros, forget handling in ML350 W164, its bland and rubbish. Steering is way too im-precise, bland and road manners is an issue, it also have numb brake feeling (even tho they have excellent brakes). It only excels offroad (when equipped with the offroad package option). Excessive technological aid spoilt that car. Go read and watch reviews online.

The HL on the other hand has a very precise steering (even tho its numb and bland too), soft spring rates, and excellent road manners. When equipped properly, that HL can be a cheap lexus RX350.

My first time love, I was like that to one damsel i once met, who did one comely/homely thing that captured my whole heart just a moment she came to my office, and i fell flat for her for life. She was also rewarded with asshole men after i finally got married to another angel that God brought my way, such that i got to hear her plight and felt pity for her to the extent that i had to call her to attention & gave her a very sincere but lengthy advice that really helped her, and finally got her to marry after 3yrs of my own marriage. That moment of advice almost got me in trouble with my present love if not that she understood and love me so much despite my imperfection that was caused by another woman.

Many many of the newer top shelf import cars have a better weight to horsepower ratio.

I schooled many of the Mustang guys in my Evo IX on the street. Then they want me to go to the track so we can do standing 1/4 or 1/8 mile runs, not my thing.

The 2016 Civic will have a 300 horsepower option and I am sure that one can get an additional 150 horsepower easily from bigger turbos and tuning. Once you do that then the horsepower to weight ratio is right there with more expensive cars.

Anything can go fast, but the chassis must support it , if not you have a wreck. Those muscle cars have superb chassis that can stand anything, including power, thrashing and pulling, which is not found in Jap mobiles, else it could be a disaster.

So Benz, BMW, Porsche and the Americans should even be commended for such zeal to venture into such, and are always able to correct such errors in later models that is late model of same chassis.

'Toyota isn't great advocate of sc" because they can't cope with it, the stress of it all . Remember most of those turbos are hand built , and Toyota cant afford such labour, they will always opt out for cheap labour, and using non technocrats to maximize profit. Note, all AMG engine by Benz are hand built, most of those turbos by Americans super cars are handbuilt. Such technocrats is not just anyhow.

Talk of durability, even a year old knows that you cant beat the Germans and those muscle cars on that.. Be careful with some of these recommendations before you damage your engine, or create problems for yourself.
1. Engine flushing is a questionable practice, many tech actually against it (http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/flushservices.html).
2. No one goes just to change oil filter; Oil filter change goes with oil replacement.
3. Again, no one goes changing fuel filter just to gain more power/performance, except there's a fuel-line related issue with the car.... The recommendation is to change fuel filter while changing fuel pump.

I didnt see where he mentioned going to change just oil nor fuel filter but "air filter" for the air cleaner. But then, it is good practice to be changing your fuel filter periodically if you aint sure of the kind of fuel you buy, as some gas stations may have impurities in them.

Engine flushing has a lot of advantages, if you do it well , especially in engines that has those symptoms he mentioned above, engines where oil change may have been neglected. Also, when you bought an old car but are not sure of the maintenance history. Perhaps too, in engine that every fresh oil change get dirty in no time as he stated.

These are wonderful practice most especially for German and European cars and formular one cars whose performances have fallen below the thresh hold. Unfortunate, there i always a critique in any thing in life and such is welcome. i have gone through the youtube link he gave and have seen a lot of critique there. i have also seen a lot of salvage situation too by his recommendations. I own a sweet looking Benz Cls that started losing some kind of power, throttle respond wasn't as it use to be. At first when i read this, i was very happy that i've got solution to my problem , but was somehow skeptical, 'disel in my Benz engine?' oh no! no! no!. But when i finally decided and did it, after having understudied his recommendations.. . Mehn! now my cls has got back her original responses and feels sharper. I'm gonna do same to ma mums w202 Benz. If your engine eventually develop any issue at the process, then it has got the issues already, but this process only made it apparent.

However, for Japanese cars and other substandard engines, there is a question mark there.

Wonderful! No more engine swap/overhauling in Naija. Naija is really growing to my amazement.

That is why i emphasize to avoid the earlier(experimental) models and go for[i] facelifted ones(late models)[/i] , if you want to enjoy reliability,aesthetics and have it all:

For w202- 97,98,2000 models
For w203- 2004,2005,2006 models
For w204- 20011,2012,2013 and 2014 models

Here, all built in experimental errors due to luxury must have been observed and corrected. When you here people talk about dependability, its always here. Infact, recently from 2012 up Benz has been on the deck to wipe away all dependability issues that often got associated with such luxury brand. They have been up and doing, so don't entertain any fear.

For those who already bought the earlier models, non face-lifted models(non late-models) , dont panic, when swapping parts , swap with facelifted spares, it will go a long way to make your earlier model Benz dependable

If you did all that and the issue still persist, you may need to check your front wheels to be sure they aint bend somehow.Sometimes the eyes may not see them.You could do that by swapping a healthy wheel from a normal vehicle that drives great into yours just to test to be sure before actually purchasing any wheel. If you go for the Audi, you are at your own peril, the better option for you is the Benz c 200 kompressor . Good return in fuel economy, comfort and prestige, combine with power and availability of spare parts, compared to the others. Two Adult enters the cramped sport back seat of Benz 190 , how much more the roomier c class?

Secondary, ask anybody around, mechanics in Naija dont understand Audi and BMW that much, so their owners tends to suffer in their hands. Except you'll be doing your repairs yourself.

Yes as you've said, the op needs a durable car , and durability is no doubt the language of the German cars compared to Jap mobiles.
Mind you , understand the characteristics of German cars, they don't spoil on transit, they will always take you to any bush and come out to your destination, because their engine is built to last , and to withstand the most stressful driving conditions unlike the Jap mobiles. Apart from the electrical component that only requires your understanding and little knowledge of car electricals, you are up and doing all year round without any breakdown.

See, lets get this thing right. Contrary to your opinion, i don't drive car just for point a and b, but for the needful,i guess you know what i'm talking about.
