Wow. I just thought better be safe than sorry, even the professional certifications needed for computer Science for both Signal Corp and Intelligence Corp. like CEH, Penetration, forensics, Database Administration I can do them well. But I no get paper to back am up. So I just applied for the Corp that doesn’t require certification for my course

ugo4u:

Certification at point of screening is not compulsory except you're in Education corp, Finance and Medicine especially medicine.
You'll only be disturbed for it when you're already in.

The thing is, your course should be accredited in your university when you were still an undergraduate.
NASB don't bother much about certification last year they said people applying for Aviation unit with Bsc in Geography must have NCAA approved certification but they didn't ask for it during screening and I know someone that is currently an officer in that unit that don't have the said certification.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Nigerian Army SSC And DSSC 2016/2017 Forum by Prudent5217: 12:03pm On Sep 09, 2019
My course was even listed in Intelligence Corp too but for professional certification things. I just use my head select another Corp because I know the competition will be high for Intelligence Corp. Although I love the Corp wella.

ugo4u:

Your course was advertised under Intelligence Corps, one of the most coporate & polished corp in the military.
You no too put your eye wella, you for see ur course.

Thanks for the info also a friend asked me this evening. What if someone is 1.67m and the requirement is 1.68m does the person stand a chance to be disqualified during screening

ugo4u:

No. As long as it's ordinance you selected nobody will change it for you, it is the SSC guys that has little say with respect to the corp they will find themselves.
In DSSC what you choose is what you get.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Nigerian Army SSC And DSSC 2016/2017 Forum by Prudent5217: 12:20am On Sep 09, 2019
Hello Ugo4u just a quick question. You know your wisdom always gives me great joy. So for example if a Computer Science graduate chose Ordinance Corp for DSSC during registration, does it mean if he is lucky to be selected the army will assign him to signals Corp. Thanks

ugo4u:

If you like have first class upper it won't stop them from north posting you to the NE though it might not be immediately but at a time in your career you might be posted there, only women are exempted.
It goes like this
Computer science.. Signals
Geography, artillery.
Engineering, engineers.
Chemistry, ordinance.
Intelligence study, intelligence or military police.
etc People that studied wonderful courses like Fishery, forestry, religion, animal husbandry etc has higher chances of being posted to Infantry etc
And for RC they have always written promotional exams before promotion except moving from 2nd Lt to Lieutenant.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Nigerian Army SSC And DSSC 2016/2017 Forum by Prudent5217: 11:18pm On Sep 07, 2019
Sure, they all have there pros and cons

ugo4u:

It depends sha things do change the last guys that were promoted from LT to Captain didn't write exams, the only criteria was having a good PR. They do sit for exams but things has changed, honestly DSSC is quite a stress free commissioning with respect to hussle for promotion but SSC must go for courses tire, if the person no sabi book he will suffer. Some SSC retire at Lt and Captain set many of them. This is rare for a DSSC officer except such a person voluntarily resigns.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Nigerian Army SSC And DSSC 2016/2017 Forum by Prudent5217: 11:17pm On Sep 07, 2019
DSSC officers also have the opportunity to head there various corps eg support and support service corps

ugo4u:

Upon commissioning you're incharge of 30 soldiers, the welfare of this men rests on you. You get allowances for operations etc In summary

1) SSC officers are combatants, while dssc officers are not. 2) SSC officers command men, while dssc don't. 3) SSC are to write exams for promotions, dssc don't.. SSC can convert to become RC but dssc convert to become DRC. In terms of making money. Since dssc cannot command, they can never head a unit, platoon, company, battalion, brigade and can never be a GOC.
In my own assessment, ladies are better suited for DSSC than SSC because na unnecessary suffer head you won't be posted to a fighting unit at the end most likely you will be posted to other supporting unit according to your course of study, where you will still jam DSSC guys.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Nigerian Army SSC And DSSC 2016/2017 Forum by Prudent5217: 11:03pm On Sep 07, 2019
The last time I checked DSSC Officer don’t need to write exams to convert to DRC. Just medical and some form filling, or am I wrong to that regards

ugo4u:

If he/she converts, he/she has three attempts at that, such a person can stay up to 35yrs in service all other things being equal, he/she will reach the rank of atleast a Brig.General or even higher if age and space is available. If they don't convert they will retire as a Lt.Col
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Nigerian Army SSC And DSSC 2016/2017 Forum by Prudent5217: 10:55pm On Sep 07, 2019
Hello Ugo4u can you explain the highlighted part properly to me. That part caught my attention so what if a DSSC officer decides to convert to DRC after the first 3 years what happens then. Thanks

ugo4u:

In terms of appointments and little politics of power play he's correct. Another thing is, Converting to RC from SSC is not automatic or easy, because atimes this is where politiking come into play, they might even tell you, you failed a promotion course etc. RC owns the army while SSC are fatigue tools according to them, no much diff with DSSC in terms of treatment but DSSC guys tend to flourish more because they're always in a dedicated corp where RC guys are rarely found e.g Education Corp, Medical corp etc. DSSC are saved the stress of unnecessary exams for promotion, every 5yrs they hang new pip and have 15yrs to serve uninterruptedly if they don't convert to direct regular (DRC).
From the look of things and also from testimonies of serving officers both RC, SSC/DSSC, DSSC is better.
I personally prefer SSC cos of the high chances of getting into a fighting Corp like Infantry/Armor etc lead men into battle and also the possibility of being a COAS someday(though it's rare).

Crime / Re: South African Man Lied That This Man Caught With Drug Is A Nigerian (Photos) by Prudent5217: 4:05pm On Sep 06, 2019
I once travelled to Nairobi and gush I was pissed off when I saw the way some Nigerians dress, very loud. One was even putting on a Polo he customized with his nickname behind, sagging and in front of the top was the inscription “Money Man”. angry I was so pissed.

MelesZenawi:
Nigeria, Drug Cartels And Xenophobia In South Africa. THE FACTS.

I have a lot of problem with the authenticity and accuracy of these stories , I'm a graduate of the University of the Witwatersrand, now University of Johannesburg, I am married to a South African, I worked for the African union from inception until 2009, when I decided to relocate, so, from 1996-2009, that would be 13 years of living in South Africa, by virtue of having studied and worked in South Africa and speak Zulu fluently. Also, due to the nature of the work, it afforded me the opportunity to travel extensively within South Africa and Africa generally. So I can conveniently and confidently say that, I know South Africa and its people, very well.

Now, the issues raised in this write up concerning drugs is untrue, yes, some Nigerians are involved in drugs, but they didn't start it nor are they even in the majority, neither are they the kingpins of drugs, but the thing is Nigerians in South Africa are like the children of the Third Reich, damned for what they are and damned for what they're not.

Encapsulating the drug business in South Africa and prostitution, it would be wise to recognise that drug business was going on before the earliest Nigerians settled in SA, in Cape town, gang wars started in Cape flats amongst the colored people long before Nigerians got there, in Durban, there was drug trade by Indians from Pine town to the Promenade long before Nigerians saw the Indian Ocean in Kwazulu Natal,( note Durban is not a capital city like JHB. Pietermaritzburg is the capital city)

Now, in JHB, drug business by Nigerians are heavily situated in places like, Hillbrow, Berea, Yeovil, Orange grove, Ellis park, Rossettenville. These are areas heavily populated by foreigners of diverse origin.
Let me also shine some light on Prostitution before I conclude. Prostitution is a right of passage of 90% of South Africans, white, black, Indian, colored, the remaining 10% are Khoisan. An average South African girl of 15 years already has a child before the family will now aid her to move from the locations to JHB, Durban, Port Elisabeth, East London, Cape town or Tswane, which is by the way, the real name of Pretoria.

Native South Africans are extremely poor and as as a result crime and prostitution thrive in the Locations ( informal settlements) like Soweto, Alexandra, Tembisa, Lenasia and Eldorado park in Gauteng province, with JHB as capital city. Lamontville, port Shepstone, Umlazi, Umtata, Bluff, and other locations spread out in the Zululand, feed the crime and LovePeddler needs of Durban KZN. While in the Cape town is fed by, Gugulethu, Kylitsha, cape flats and neighbouring East London and Port Elizabeth.
The other provinces, like Bloemfontein, Limpopo and basically all of the former Northern Transvaal, Boputhatswana, flock to JHB, supported by migrating prostitutes from Namibian, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malawi and a smattering handful from Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho and Angola, not forgetting assassins from Mozambique and Zimbabwe. These completes the Violent crimes and Prostitution ring in South Africa.

Looking at drugs holistically, Nigerians, Tanzanians, Indians, Pakistanis' Italians and the Boer South Africans are indictable here, but in different categories.
The drug business are in three categories:-

1. Importers, ( drugs are not indigenous to South Africa) so they are imported from South America, Asia and Europe to SA. You might be wondering Europe? Yes, Europe, drugs is not restricted to Cocaine and Opium, inclusive also are, Fentanyl, Mandrax,Ecstasy, Acid paper e.t.c these come from Europe, they all find their way to South Africa and somebody brought them into the country and just about 10% of importers are Nigerians, are you now wondering who is then responsible for the remaining 90%? South African whites/Boers, yes most drug imports come from Holland which is the Boers original home. Have you ever wondered why there haven't been and major drug bust in the Airports or anywhere else in South Africa? Simple, its a Cartel, run by Indigenes, the Police, immigration and Customs.

2. These are the middle men, who now buy 50-60-70grammes, break it into 5gs and in turn sell to the third and final group in the drug dealing chain, called " Ndi-Atuke" .

3. Now, the third and final group who take the major risk in the business are the ones who may buy 5 or 10g and cook a part to sell as rocks and the other as powder, this group are the street urchins who market in small scale to whoever can afford it and this group are individuals that cannot afford to be cartels as they are constantly harassed by the Police and the Mafia, to pay protection money.

This third group, some of them team up with pristitutes to bring their customers ( mainly whites) to buy from them. So the prostitutes are already addicts, who are no longer accepted as residents in strip clubs like Summit club, Dorchester and other such clubs that dot the cities of South Africa like a reminder of its immediate gory past, they are the prostitutes and all Pinch sellers are guilty of such association and its not restricted to Nigerians.

Now to the reason why Nigerians are targets for this Xenophobic attacks are two tiered.
1. Once upon a time on Etv South Africa, there was a Talk show named "Third Degree" hosted by an Indian lady who was trying to divert attention of criminal acts from her stock to Nigerians, first of such shows was a Masacre that took place in a gay club called little Caesars, in the ensuing documentary, she blamed it on Nigerians and drugs, but when the case was finally busted, no Nigerian was involved. It was dobe by whites and Indians who hated Homosexuality.

The second documentary of note was the Moodly killing, Moodly, an Indian then a student in the University, reported his white girlfriend missing, and Mrs Pillay of Third degree concocted a story that Nigerians abducted her because of debt from drugs. At the conclusion of the investigation, when the body was found, autopsy indicated that the girl was not a drug user and that Moodley himself strangled and dumped her body before reporting her missing, again, no Nigerian involved.

2.. The second and most probable reason ( which even irritates me) Nigerian drug dealers in Hillbrow are lousy, Infact, if you see them misbehaving in South Africa, you'd think they're in the village and drug sale is a legal business. Others nationals more involved and richer are absolutely living non-descript lives, but their Nigerian counterparts in the lower rung are living flamboyantly with no obvious source of income.

So, in conclusion, Nigerians are not as was described in that write up, but they have simply constituted themselves into a "nuisance" in South Africa by their show-off. If they were the biggest drug dealers in South Africa, they would all be in prison by now. The biggest barons are big South Africans and are known to the government, that's why they are untouchables. Don't regard all their blame-shifting
There are lots of Nigerian professionals living and working in South Africa, even the face of Vodacom the largest telecom service provider is a Nigerian. Many small and medium scale businesses in South Africa are established and run by Nigerians. They create several jobs for South Africans.
There are so many Nigerian Doctors, lecturers, business men , Engineers holding places of pride in the economy and society. These are areas where the citizens don't even have the capacity to cover.
Finally, xenophobia has nothing to do with drugs, but lots to do with envy. They came to loot and kill. Do you fight crime with another crime?

@Major555 Please do well to read the origin that warranted the exchange of words. Irrespective of questions and answers it’s wrong for an adult to reply someone else by insulting their families. I saw his question and passed by but the insult to KODACK’s Family is uncalled for. Next time do well to address the genesis of a problem.

Peace
Mayor555:
KODACK and prudent5217 please be guided, no question is stupid.... Asking questions doesn't mean they don't know the answer, but want to be very sure.

I believe you must've scared alot of people away, to prevent bashing and insult on their personities, thereby failing the purpose of the thread.

To me, referring people to read the whole thread is not fair, reason being that, not everyone have the luxury of time.

If a question seems stupid to you, you can just ignore, it's not rocket science.

The purpose of the thread is to help each other, not make enemies.

Always strive to make friends not enemies..... Take a cue from mrsuama.
