buzugee: ahhh gotcha. simple enough. be long suffering, quick to listen and slow to speak, be kind, gentle, love your neighbor as yourself, slow to anger, give of yourself to people without expecting anything in return, not caught up in the lustful desires of the world like materialism and get rich or die trying mentality, and then love God. am thinking that should convey you mighty fine grin
Well, it should also convey love our neighbor, but also drive out the merchants from the temple with a whip Hahahaha! Please do not be offended, it's just a joke.

emöfine2: @ Ptolomeus Hola amigo cheesy

When I said "representative" I meant that anyone that adheres to a particular belief-system thus adopts the title i.e. "Muslim", "Hindu" etc...and for an outsider to initially comprehend the personality of these deities they may observe and study the individuals that call themselves "Muslims", "Hindu's" etc etc...and as humans we often make mistakes thus if some people are seen as ambassadors of their "perfect" god could such imperfect people translate that nature accordingly.

How are you by the way? smiley
Very dear friend
I believe that when someone identifies with a religion, not being identified only by a god, nor a cult, but a philosophy of life.
No one is god, nor does it represent God. But we must try to be faithful to our belief.
We are human and therefore fallible ...

Here's all good ... but winter is coming ...
I hope you're well!

The neuron is malfunctioning.
The individual is happy because someone swears by God ...
Which god? ...
Imagine you an atheist swear by God (laughter) you imagine a Islamic? ... you imagine, in an Islamic country a Christian swearing by the god of Islam? (laughter) ... comply with a sdtupid requirement that does not commit no one.
So, easier to miss that oath.
My country is secular, it swears "by the personal honor," but not by any god.
All religions are respected, and no church can meddle in government affairs.
But that's not an atheist state.
Sure, we can not do that to understand Enigma ... your neuron fails to understand.

Ah, dear friend ... a thousand apologies for my English, I know it's really bad. I appreciate your effort and consideration. I just use a translator, because it does not speak English.

I explained to you, if you do not consider it an abuse of me ... I have gotten very old Adura (prayer to Orisa) which are the days of slavery. These Adura (to my knowledge) are written in Yoruba. It is not very important for me to know the translation, because I have a vague idea of its meaning, but it would be important to know your opinion on this type of dialect used, and if you can understand.

It is more comprehensible now? Otherwise, please notify me.

emöfine2: Lol Ifyalways honestly I had no names in mind...all the details in my head were slightly sketchy but this is the first time I’m hearing that Drogba went to consult traditional gods...and here I was thinking that all he had was down to skill and hardwork grin

You have a valid point and I never considered that being a reason as to why there was such a ripple of sensation when these stories surface but that does make sense. Growing up in the Diaspora the views on African traditional religion has rarely been positive and often stereotyped but then again how much would an average foreigner know?. But a few times I’ve read some columns exposing and subtlety mocking African footballers/fans etc that consult traditional gods as if to highlight their “primitiveness” or even “cheating” in some ways because African traditional religion is often attached to black magic etc – so I guess to some people magic = cheating. Yet other footballers and fans pray to Allah or Jehovah for a "miracle" and there’s no controversy over that. At first I used to wonder is it because these traditional gods are alien to outsiders but then I doubt that's the main reason because even some Africans sef are guilty of sneering ....so I guess it’s most likely the reputation these traditional gods carry.
On second thoughts maybe these people were scared lol.

It’s not only Africa though because I once read that one native doctor in Ecuador was trying to aid the success of his national team but dem lose sha lol.
Dear friend:
Ask a god for a sports score, I believe that god is underestimated. I do not think a god takes into account a request for such nonsense ...
I imagine Allah and / or Jewish-Christian god concerned about the football game! (irony).
As for traditional religion ... people make fun of the person consulting? or mock WHO ASK?
I think that means something like "Look at this fool, believe in this nonsense ..."
I think the mockery is towards traditional religion ... the same traditional religion to which many come in the most difficult moments, but to tease in public.
Please accept my greatest affection!
Christianity EtcRe: Reasons Why I Know Obama Is Not A Christian by Ptolomeus(m): 7:50pm On May 25, 2012
A secular state does not mean to be an atheist state.
A religious state is one that has an official religion and that religion can intervene in public affairs or in matters of state.
This makes the official religion, has privileges over the other, and even can get to ban the practice of a religion (which is against human rights).
A secular state (I insist) is not an atheist state, but a state without religion, that does not allow any interference of religion in their decisions, and which, in turn granted to all religions the same right.
There is nothing a secular atheist.
Christianity EtcRe: Reasons Why I Know Obama Is Not A Christian by Ptolomeus(m): 7:40pm On May 25, 2012
Enigma: As has been shown already, "separation of Church and State" is not a US constitutional concept as such.

The expression in the American context originated in a letter in which Jefferson responded to some Baptists, who were congratulating him on his appointment, basically assuring them of his support for the idea that the State should not interfere with their religious freedoms.

Basically, the duplicitous atheists have hijacked the expression and bastardised its use into a context different from its origin --- this occasionally with the assistance of the American Supreme Court. A major impetus of the First Amendment was the protection of religious minorities, in fact minority Christian groups, so that they will not suffer persecution by majority religious groups, in fact majority Christian groups. In various settlements, some "denominations" tended to predominate e.g. Catholics in some places, Anglicans in others etc. The concern about domination and persecution of the minority groups was also fuelled by the experience of many of the early pilgrims who had fled to America because of religious persecution in Europe.

Nowadays, every evangelical atheist mumu shouts "separation of church and state" either in ignorance (among most) and in duplicitous chicanery by the smarter ones. They have benefitted from a generally sympathetic judicial system.

Hmmm, food for thought:

The oath of office that must be taken by various US government officials including congress men/women, senators, cabinet members and even the Vice-President requires them to declare "So help me, God." By convention even appointees to the office of President have usually made the same declaration.

Your comment is very valuable and surprising. Here in America, it is believed that traditional religion is the most practiced in Nigeria. I was very surprised when I joined the forum and saw the religious reality of Nigeria.
According to your comentrario, the precarious situation of Babalawos contrasts with the sumptuous living with W. Abimbola, which is representative in the Diaspora (USA, Cuba, etc..) And makes decisions on a religious level.
Abimbola first instance was firmly opposed to the existence of the office of Iyaonifá (Babalawo woman), but then, he encouraged the creation of that office, which goes against the most ancient traditions ...
HOWEVER, from here we continue to look to Africa with admiration and respect. Africa still feel like the great cradle, the root, the referent.

Avicenna: Ha, my friend, it is not all the priest(not even most) that have that attitude. Only the ones that felt insecure gave such names. Infact the name,IFATOYINBO is rare. If any yoruba man sees such name, the response will be that of shock or incredulity followed by laughter. By now, most priest have gone underground. You only see them in obscure, rural villages. The african/yoruba traditions are worthy of praise and respect no doubt. Don't let a brainwashed, insecure minority priests convince you otherwise.

I am indeed sorry for that slavery era. I hate slavery with every drop of my blood. The more disturbing thing was that my forefathers had a part in what happened. They were ignorant of the pain, suffering and humiliation they were condemning their own people to. I am very sorry.

Anagos, I believe, was the name Yorubas bared before colonization, but I could be wrong.

If you're indeed sincere about your journey to acquire more knowledge about the Yorubas, I truly respect that endeavor. Much respect my friend.

I'm proudly Yoruba, btw.

You're quite right, THERE IS NO RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE YORUBAS AND THE JEWS. Yorubas were there, from Togo to what is now called Nigeria while the Jews were still . . . . wherever they were.

Ori is one's head or one's spirit.
Olorun in today's time, is another name for Eledumare; the superior being (God) or the creator.
There could be a metaphorical relationship between the two tho.
Usually when a Yoruba person prays, they say "Ori mi o, eleda mi o" to call out to God.
dear friend Idi Ileke :
More than 30 years ago I began my research, and yet I think I know nothing about Africa and Yorubaland.
Thank you very much for your appreciation, affection and respect shown by all the comrades of this thread really moves me! Thank you!
There are many versions about the origin of the Yoruba ... even a version related to the black pharaohs of Egypt. I maintain my firm position regarding Oduduwa as Patriarch, and I dare not make any relationship without strong evidence that I never found).

The beautiful prayer you indicated (Ori mi o) is a praise to Ori.
His simplicity contrasts with its foundation, since (as we both said) Ori (Orisa is the staff ... our own destiny ...
It is said that before birth the person, in Orun, Ori chooses his destiny to fulfill on earth (Aiye) in the presence of Adjalá and Orunmila (both Orissa funfun). The term "funfun" should not be confused with skin color, but a condition of (Orisa related to creation.

I feel a great feeling to be sharing these beautiful comments as polite and friendly people.
Thanks for sharing knowledge and friendship.
Tell me you conmo a sincere friend.

Avicenna: Nice. Your research must be paying off, my good friend.
You are correct that OYIN means honey. FUNFUN is the colour white. As in white cloth, house. We both know no one is really WHITE in complexion just fair-skinned.
But this is my analysis of IFATOYINBO
IFA- this is the name of a god. He's very wise.
TO- means up to. Is equal to. E.g wale to taiwo means wale is equal to taiwo(maybe in age, intellect...)
OYINBO-fairskinned person i.e someone of european descent. Note- it does not refer to albinos. Albinos- AAFIN
Notice the difference between oyinbo and oyin.

IFA-TO-OYINBO= IFATOYINBO.
Ifa-is equal to-white person.
A spiritual entity(false anyway) is equal to the physical white man. You see what I meant by the inferiority complex.
Dear friend.
First of all, thank you very much for you to understand I'm not doing critical, but trying to contribute what little I know, and also to learn. Share. It was his excellent explanation of the term Ifatoyinbo. The Yoruba language is very complex, I have noticed that many times unite words and contractions performed by omitting letters .... It is very complex, especially for a foreigner like me.
I fully understand your analysis, and share it.
Do not is fitting that the priests themselves IFA adopting such attitudes ...
I would like to tell you something, that may seem minor, but it relates to African traditions.
At South American ethnic groups came from Africa. Had to endure a transfer inhuman in the holds of slave ships. The highest percentage died on the voyage, or as a result. Many generations lived in a state of slavery, with its language, traditions and beliefs prohibited.
However, despite the odds, kept alive the flame of their beliefs and traditions. Here is very respectful of the black tradition.
I think that contrasts with the adoption of the name Ifatoyinbo ...

If you do not consider it an abuse of me, I want to give some consideration traditional Adura that I have been rescued in the Yoruba language. It would be important, beyond translation, know the dialect and the possible origin ... It would be of great importance to my research.

I am honored to talk with you!
I hope you can understand my very bad English.

oiseworld: what is a religion? I think thats the first thing we should be asking here. When classifing beliefs then, christianity is a religion.
But what is christianity on its own? A belief in the teaching of jesus christ.
Who is Jesus christ? The son of God, the second in the trinity, the outspoken word of God. God in human form. God on earth.

When you take a look at the life of christ you'll get what christianity is. I know it is the way.

Infact words can not say !!!
Wikipedia

A sect is the set of followers of a particular religious doctrine or ideology. The term was originally used only to refer to parties or philosophical communities, religious or political through his teachings and rites differ among themselves. Subsequently adopts the secondary sense of "heresy" or belief and splinter group that is separated from its original source, usually with negative connotations. [1]

Charles S. Braden precisely gives this definition: "A cult, as I define it, is any religious group which differs significantly in one or more respects as to belief and practice of those religious groups that are considered normative expressions of religion in our culture total ". [2]

From a sociological point of view, is a group of people with common (cultural, religious, political, esoteric, etc.). As already noted, one of the possible meanings of the term has negative connotations, [3] as has been suggested the concept of "destructive cults".

As a religious sect, Max Weber and his colleague, historian of religion Ernst Troeltsch define it as: "A cult is a group of committed believers smaller and less organized, usually is to answer a Church, as did the Calvinists or the Methodists. Sects are comparatively smaller, usually aim to discover and follow the true way, and tend to withdraw from the surrounding society their own communities. Members of sects considered corrupt the established churches. most have few or no staff and all members participate equally. Among the sects created a small proportion of people and, rather, most actively binds to them to promote their beliefs. "(Anthony Giddens, Sociology)

The original religion was Judaism. Catholicism is a sect that follows the original religion (Judaism). Then, Protestantism is a sub-sect, and which is separated from Catholicism.
I think this is very clear.

ApostlePat: The STOREHOUSE is A PORTION (Small house or place) INSIDE THE TEMPLE of Old where tithes for the Levites and Priest are stored as FOOD. Today, we (Christians) are the TEMPLE and HOUSE of God, take a look at these verse where Jesus established our body as the temple and the Apostle continued in that foundation,

Jesus answered and said to them, " Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." Then the Jews said, "It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?" But He was speaking of the temple of His body. John 2:19-21

"We heard Him say, 'I will destroy this temple made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands". Mark 14:58

"But Solomon built Him a house. "However, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says: Acts 7:47-48

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit [who is] in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 1 Cor. 6:19

Do you not know that you are the temple of God and [that] the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which [temple] you are. 1 Cor. 3:16-17

And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them And walk among [them]. I will be their God, And they shall be My people." 2 Cor. 6:16

So where do we store or bring the tithe to if we are now the temple and the storehouse is INSIDE the temple? Brother, you need to understand God has done away with tithe which biblically is crops and animals because the laws and regulations had changed, so also must the commandments of tithing changed. Today, the Levites who have the commandment to receive tithe is gone in the body of Christ, we now have gifts of teachers, prophets, Apostles etc to serve in the body of Christ, not the old temple system anymore.
Perfect explanation.

In Malachi, Jheova accused the LEvites of stealing. Ordered to pay the tithe, but only to the Levites!
The payment of the tithe is a punishment from God, who was robbed!
You pay tithes to a pastor, and you are being compared with those who robbed and Jheova offended.

Hope all is well.smiley

Ptolomeus, according to Christians and the Bible the Holy Spirit apparently didn’t have sex with “Virgin” Mary. The story of the “virgin birth” is often hailed as the “immaculate conception” because miraculously (without the use of sex allegedly) the Holy Spirit managed to get a "virgin" pregnant.

You have a point there but I think the supernatural in all belief systems is clipped to spirits/immateriality but it's somehow demonic when those spirits appear in other belief systems.
Dear friend, is beautiful to talk to you.
That is the line of reasoning to which I want to reach.
1. Thinking about relationships with a spirit (or supernatural) is disgusting.
2. A pregnancy without sex (sorry you know I mentioned some terms that may seem hard, but I want to be graphic) without sperm, without ovule ... "by simple decree" is absolutely irrational.
Many times we hear that "everything is a matter of faith," and empower such situations that absolutely nothing should be logical.
It's Kafkaesque ... (Franz Kafka)
If we accept that a woman is pregnant (self-pregnant), we already ruled out any analysis of the biblical facts.
The many biblical contradictions cease to be, and everything must be accepted by logic or faith ...
When logic and rationality fails, aim for the faith.
But faith does not mean irrationality.
That way, any doctrine or belief, however irrational it is, happens to be credible.
"A lie repeated a thousand times becomes the truth"!
Hermann Goering

With respect to spiritism.
I understand that some sects, hide their own lack of doctrine, with the attack on other faiths.
But they, in their minds to discredit others, end up discrediting.
They despise spiritualism, they considered primitive, but worship saints ...
What is a saint?
The question answers itself.

Please accept my respectful greetings and very affectionate!

buzugee: you are assuming that christians are rational people. anyone who believes a holy spirit impregnates a woman is a highly irrational person. you will find most christians fall in this category. the virgin mary story is piggybacked of the ancient babylonian empire. nimrod, semiramis and tammuz. nimrod the king died and shortly afterwards the queen semiramis got pregnant. and for fear of being labelled a LovePeddler, which is a grave crime in ancient days, she cooked up the immaculate conception story. she had a child named tammuz. christianity, the religion, is built on the foundation of the ancient babylonian empire. jesus is tammuz, and mary is semiramis. dec 25th, the birthday of jesus is nimrods birthday. the point to this whole rant is that i wouldnt attach much gravity to the opinions of christians with regards to vilifying immaculate conceptions in dreams but lauding marys immaculate conception. there is no such thing as immaculate conception.
My sincere congratulations, your post is great.
Many Christian traditions are mere copies of pagan cults. It is quite right what you say about the birth date of Jesus. It is impossible to have been in December.
Even the Pope's clothes have pagan connotations.

I have said in several threads, which causes me to my repugnance the fact imagine having se.x with a ghost. Possibly to Christianity, the fact of engaging se.x with god, is a wonderful thing, but I think it's something unclean.
I ask, what woman would be willing to have se.x with a ghost?
I understand that Christianity is a spirit religion (worships the spirit of a dead or more dead), but anyway, who has imagined se.x between a human and a dead (or spirit) was to have serious psychiatric problems .
Just a thought: Christians despise spiritist religions ... but forget that they too are ... even their gods have se.x with spirits ...

Israel threatens to send African immigrants ‘behind bars’

Violent race riots prompt top-level calls for immediate arrest, expulsion of tens of thousands of African migrants.

Middle East Online
By Jean-Luc Renaudie – JERUSALEM

Who’s expelling whom?

Israeli Interior Minister Eli Yishai demanded on Thursday that all illegal African immigrants be put "behind bars" before kicking them all out.

"We must put all these infiltrators behind bars in detention and holding centres, then send them home because they come and take work from Israelis," he told army radio.

Unless the government took urgent action, there would "soon be half a million to a million, and we cannot lose our country to this," said the minister, who has frequently called for the expulsion of non-Jewish immigrants, sparking cries of racism.

Violent race riots that shook southern Tel Aviv overnight sparked shock in Israel on Thursday, but also prompted top-level calls for the immediate arrest and expulsion of tens of thousands of African migrants.

The latest unrest to sweep the impoverished neighbourhoods around Tel Aviv's central bus station erupted on Wednesday night when a demonstration of around 1,000 people who were protesting against the rising number of Africans moving into the area turned violent.

"Shock, violence and hatred of foreigners in Tel Aviv" was the headline in the Maariv daily, which described scenes of chaos as demonstrators went on the rampage with sticks and stones, attacking African-run shops and smashing up a car driven by two African men.

"Blacks out!" shouted demonstrators in the crowd, while others yelled "Send the Sudanese back to Sudan," several media reports said, as other protesters derided the "bleeding-heart leftists" working to help them.

Most reports said the rally turned nasty after the crowd was whipped up by several racist speeches by right-wing MPs, several of them from the ruling Likud party of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"The infiltrators are a cancer in our body," Likud MP Miri Regev told the crowd, as fellow MP Danny Danon shouted: "The infiltrators must be expelled from Israel! Expulsion now!"

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said 20 people had been arrested on suspicion of vandalising shops and attacking cars driven by Africans, but added that there were no reports of anyone being injured.

The police have also extended the remand of seven Israeli minors accused of attacking African immigrants earlier this week, he said.

Interior ministry statistics show there are more than 60,000 African immigrants living illegally in Israel.

Some are asylum seekers fleeing persecution, while others are economic migrants. Almost all of them sneak across the border from the Egyptian Sinai and end up living in the run-down neighbourhoods around Tel Aviv's bus station.

The issue of illegal immigration from Africa has thrown into relief sharp divisions within Israel, with many top officials, including Netanyahu, warning that their growing numbers pose a major threat to the security and identity of Israel.

Wednesday's nights violence made headlines in all the main Hebrew-language newspapers, as well as on the TV and radio stations, with army radio denouncing it as a "pogrom."

In a bid to halt the influx of immigrants from Africa, Israel has been building a 250-kilometre (155-mile) fence along the Egyptian border. It has also built a vast detention centre near the border to house anyone caught crossing the frontier.

At the start of the year, Netanyahu said he was planning to visit several African capitals to discuss the issue of immigration, but so far no such plans have been made public.

Who women to forum agree have se.x with a spirit?
What se.xual deviation could cause someone to have se.x with a spirit?
Really, I just imagining it produces repugnance ...
I do not know what was the reason that led Mary to commit adultery, (possibly the passivity of her husband, or perhaps that Joseph changed his se.xual preference), but still, having se.x with a spirit is really repugnant!
