TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by puffmama: 10:17am On Dec 05, 2025
Good morning all, someone I know attended an interview, never been to the US before but has good travel History, according to her, interview went well and was told that if her visa is approved, it will expire before her proposed travel date and was given a form that says Adminstrative processing..
My question is this , will she need to apply again closer to her travel date? Pay another visa fees ? Or whats the next step.
Has anyone personally experienced this or know someone that has recently
Thank you.
TravelRe: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by puffmama: 8:36am On May 28, 2025
Yes he needs to let them know oh ..I presently have long duration valid visas -. UK, US , Canada and Schengen and I don't fail to mention that .
Apart from properties, strong ties can be family, commitment to church/ mosque..list it .let then know. Nothing like too much information . Infact anyone without a strong cover letter has a high risk of rejection for Schengen. Its only US that does not require a cover letter.

hunee:
Man. You like Rhetorics. Lol

'Must you tell them " I have strong ties to Nigeria"

Please make your letters very simple.

Thank you.

Include a paragraph for lump sum.exolanation in your cover letter and also attach supporting documents to proof you actually sold a land .
I have had lump sum in my acct and I have not had any issues because I do what I suggested above..
All the vest.

TravelRe: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by puffmama: 4:09pm On Mar 21, 2025
Not necessarily, my last 2 applications, my travel insurance was for 7 days only and I was given one Yr.

Also my daughter was given one Yr as a first timer though she applied with me also with 7 days travel insurance .

I didn't get a one Yr till after my 3rd schengen visa.

quote author=Chimzy09 post=134642495]

Congratulations. I'm sure there would have been a possibility of you getting a longer duration if you submitted an insurance policy with a longer validity period...given your current and past visas. Please put this into consideration next time.
TravelRe: U.S Visit: Port Of Entry Interview/stories. by puffmama: 7:35pm On Mar 13, 2025
A vacation of 3 months at a stretch and another one a few months after will likely be frowned upon and you may be taken in for.secondary interview upon arrival.

if you are so rich , why don't you go to other countries for vacations.

You said you don't work? Did you fill that in your visa application form?

When you are renewing your visas you may have issues as it may be assumed you are working in the USA.

You are expected to spend more time in your country than in the USA.

JaySterling:
Hi guys. I travelled to the US on the 20th of May 2024 and came back to Nigeria on the 7th of August 2024
Purpose of trip was vacation

Now it’s January 2025 and I wanna travel for another vacation again. Would this raise red flags at the port of entry ?

I’m actually honestly going for vacation

I’m rich and don’t work for anyone. So I can afford my trip.

Would the immigration officer assume that I’m traveling or visiting the United States too much?? undecided
TravelRe: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by puffmama: 1:09pm On Mar 13, 2025
Yes it is because people that use their schghen visa would usually use it for any of the states first before using it for other countries that accept schghen visas or at least try to use it for the schghen states before they apply for another one .
I am glad you were able to get a the Italian one because the scenario you painted is a typical example of what is refereed to as visa shopping and some embassies frown against it.

Congratulations

quote author=beautyuche post=134488367]Why strange?

Anyways, I got the Italian Visa.

Thank you so much , i don't think so, I actually thought this was late as the 3rd one cane out after 3 days . This one took 10 days so I suspect they have a lot of applications but frequent travellers checks may be a bit faster than a first timer.
I pray you get a favourable response soon.

Masorich:
Congratulations.
Could it be that because it’s your 4th Schengen visa that’s the reason yours came out faster? I applied for my first Schengen visa in Abuja on 27th Feb, and nothing yet.
TravelRe: U.S Visit: Port Of Entry Interview/stories. by puffmama: 5:38pm On Mar 11, 2025
You are not doing anything wrong , it's just the 3 months wait , you must be willing to defend reason for staying up to 3 months and back it with proof when you want to renew your visa. In the last few yrs , visitors that stayed for over a month got a 221G and were invited for interview after they submitted via drop box.

JaySterling:
Hey Guys. I’m currently in the USA on a B1/B2 visa and I just found a way to apply for an ITIN - independent taxpayer identification number. I needed to get this because I cannot get an SSN

I am on a B1/B2 visa and plan on buying a property which is not in violation of my visa

To buy a property I need an ITIN because I would be paying property taxes

NB: I have no intention of living in the USA. I am just buying the property as an investment and I would return to Nigeria and have an agency handle rental and management for me.

Will these cause me to have issues when I’m renewing my B1/B2 visa ?

I’m doing two things
-Acquiring an ITIN
-Buying a property outright in full (no mortgage)

NB:
-I have not violated my visa conditions. There is no where that states that a B1/B2 holder cannot buy property

-I will be returning back to Nigeria after staying about 3 months to acquire my ITIN and buy the property in full. Full amount is available

Please advise, will this pose me any problems with embassy in future?

Because honestly, I’m doing nothing wrong!

I am sorry you got a refusal especially as you did everything right. This is what I SUSPECT happened You are on a graduate visa and you have just about one year left. Technically you don't have any ties in the UK. They may assume you are looking for an alternative and not come back. I would usually advise people to apply when they are still students as you are not likely to abandon your studies after paying international fees or wait till you get a skilled work visa that's valid 3-5 yrs, that shows more ties as you may want to apply for indefinite leave to remain and not want to japa to Any of the schghen states illegally.

quote author=Ozeggy post=134364982]On your next application, make a reservation to go see at least 2 monuments ( e.g Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel towel etc) and add a museum visit as well. That gives a better tourist vibe to your application. For your accommodation, use a reputable site like Booking or Expedia (if you didn't use these for your first application)

Apart from your cover letter, also write a concise Travel Itinerary detailing your daily activity starting from the day you depart UK to FR, ending the last day with your checkout from hotel and flight return from FR back to the UK. One page should suffice. The daily activity and date on that travel itinerary should correspond with the date on your tour reservations.
Hello everyone . I am applying for my 4th Schengen visa . As at when I filled my form last year I only wrote France as my only destination for tourism . But right now I am considering another state to attend an event and I have supporting docs - registration, ticket and hotel - all paid .
My question now is this , should I fill another visa application form , I am thinking my number will be different from what's on my appointment slip and my appointment is end of the month . Or should I just leave it as it was and be silent about this other visit . Kindly respond .

I am sorry about your refusal , just wondering what could have gone wrong . What was your account balance like ?

Any idea why your sister and kids were given 4 years and her hubby 1 year ?

quote author=DarkShades post=133831479]

There was no euphoria to bask in bros. Everything was attached. Cover letter (stating activities we plan to do and cities we want to visit) as well as fully paid (but refundable) sight seeing tours to back it up. We requested for multiple entry visa with the first intended stay being for 6 days. Flight reservation was air france sef Abv-Cdg-Abv.

Maybe they have alot of over-stay people from the time of olympics and have decided to take stricter measures.

My sister and her kids applied as first timers and france gave them 4years multilple entry and gave her husband 1 year Multiple entry. But this was early last year.

I am just trying to know if others have been rejected too recently for no apparent reason.
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by puffmama: 9:55pm On Jul 04, 2024
It's not 8 weeks at minimum., that's the maximum , some people get theirs from 3 days - 2 weeks but recently it's been 4-6 weeks in Abuja and 2-3 weeks in Lagos but please note that the duration depends on each person's circumstance..

That's why it was advised that drop box should only be done if you don't have immediate travel plans

quote author=OyoTunjiUSA post=130793373]

Hey 🤠

1. IW decision is actually 8 weeks (2-months) at minimum according to the USA embassy website, so you have 2 more weeks of endurance before you start fidgeting.

2. It is not unusual and there is nothing you can do. You cannot retrieve or call for your travel passport until final decision . Its on their website .

Best Wishes 🙏
True . I remember it was 185k in Feb then increased to 335k at some point then started dropping cos of the fluctuation in exchange rate .

I was looking back at my last few transactions for US visa fees renewal and realized I paid
Between 31,200 and 67,200 between 2015 and 2022.

It was quite painful paying 259k in first week in May, only for it to be increased again on the 16th..

It's really unfortunate.

April 8, 2024 - Applied for dropbox but was refused under 221G and asked to schedule interview

B1/B2 interview (221G) Lagos Nigeria- 20th June 2024

VO is Black/Asian or Indian American VO(very critical ,stern and thorough man)

VO - where do you work?
ME - I work at bla bla lagos Nigeria as Manager

VO- why are you visiting USA
ME - Holiday/ transit to Canada after

VO- why are you visiting Canada
ME - Most of my family are in Canada

VO - Do you have a Canadian visa?
ME - I am a Canadian PR

VO - Really? Why are you a Canada PR
ME - Because I am and most of my siblings are either PR or Citizens

VO - Are your Parents in Canada
ME - Not at the moment but they frequent

VO- Have you visited any-other country
ME - Yes…Multiple,

VO - Laughs at Multiple
ME - besides studying in UK, I have visited France, Italy, UAE, Netherlands, Canada, Spain, etc and then Bosnia and Serbia

VO - Bosnia and Serbia (Surprised)why were you in Bosnia and Serbia
Me- Went for a friends wedding in Bosnia and visited Serbia mostly coz my luggage was lost in Serbia Airport so i took matter into my own hands and drove to Serbia airport to get it

VO - okay nice, was the friend who wedded in Bosnia Nigerian?
Me - No, he is Pakistani but lives in London

VO - okay, typing typing typing
Me- Quiet and minding my business

VO - what will you do on this trip to USA…
Me - Vacation as usual before heading to Canada

VO - Why are you not living in Canada.
ME - because i’m taking my time and rounding up my work here. Since i’m still single i’ll take my time and move to Canada soon

VO - Laughs…okay okay ( u don win) here is this white paper…bla bla bla and enjoy your trip
ME - thanks (in my mind i mustered small small dey reject these people visa oga, fear God small but thank you o)

*Addition* I purposely inserted my Canadian Health Card and PR card inside my Passport when he requested for just my passport…dont wanna take chances. He picked the health card up later after the the interview and looked at it in Admiration. Something the USA does not have. Ntooooo to them

Also, the VO denied 7 out of the 10 people before me. Its like he had a particular vendetta for women who gave birth with their visas in the past.

Theres no question he didnt ask them yet denied most of them. He went as far as a calculating when they got their visa to when they gave birth to prove to them that they had the intention of giving birth when they were applying for their visas.

The man is something else. And it was just him that did all interviews for 221G today.

Anyway just thought i’d share

A relative filing does not affect visa issuance if the person is eligible .
There is a question that asks if you have a pending immigrant petition .
It's to answer yes and provide details that's all .

quote author=Soludonido post=130166134]

Yeah, people still get visas but the wait is undeniably long and frustrating.

If he starts the filling, he will not apply for a nonimmigrant visa again o so if his GC process takes 1 or 2 years(yes it can, high possibility ) does it mean that he will stay 2 years without traveling to see his children? That was why I said he should reapply for the B1/2 visa.

My two cents ✌️
For USA, as long as you have at least 6 months after the date of your proposed date you plan to leave the US , the 5 years visa will be placed there

Joining a group may not help much at this time because they are not releasing earlier dates .
Abuja still has june / July dates at few days ago , so you can consider filling another form and choosing Abuja but remember to update your profile with the new confirmation number .

Secondly , once you choose a date , you can no longer reschedule for interview waiver.
In time past you could change dates but now you need to first request to book an appointment date before you can even see the calendar with available dates.

I would advise you just choose a date and move on unless your travel is an emergency then you can then go that route and request for an emergency dates if you meet the eligibility requirements

quote author=Ikebabay post=130092605]Hello everyone!

I'm in the process of renewing my US visa and I qualify for an interview waiver.

I have two questions please:
1. Does joining a group where they collaboratively check dates for interview waivers really help with securing an earlier appointment? From what I can see on the travel docs site, the earliest date for Lagos IW is November.

2. How many appointment changes is one entitled to? I want to go ahead and book November but I want to know if I can change my appointment peradventure an earlier date crops up.

For anyone who knows the answers to my questions, your response would be appreciated.

It doesn't take 2 months .
It's usually between 3 days - 2 months .
Majority are out between 3-4 weeks .

On the issue of 3 months before expiry date . I personally know 2 people that submitted before the 3 months expiration and their passports were returned and they were asked to book a fresh interview .

I would advise you use send a message through the feedback link and ask for the implication of cancelling your appointment and then making a fresh request when it's less than 3 months or exactly 3 months .

quote author=Tamison post=129951247]Good evening everyone.
Please I need clarification on US Visa interview waiver. The website says one is eligible if a visa expired 48 months ago or in the next 3 months. Now, my mom's visa expires on the 31st of July, I just got a drop-off date of July 1 in Abuja. On the confirmation print out, it only says visas expired not more than 48 months ago and not the 3 months. Do you think there will be an issue with the renewal because of this? We usually use Lagos but I went with Abuja this time because of availability of dates. Has anyone successfully renewed in Abuja using the interview waiver? Does it really take 2 months? I hope to hear from someone soon.
Thank you.
