Water yam is scientifically known as Dioscorea alata. It is a tuberous root vegetable that originated from the tropical regions of Asia, Africa and Carribbean. Water yam can found in white, yellow, purple and pink colors. It is low in sodium. It is a source of complex carbohydrates.
