Hey,
It’s specific to mums unfortunately. As for newborn’s passport, when we did ours in April (biometrics), we followed the instructions on the website. They didn’t ask for NIN and we got the passport in August. I don’t know if things have changed though.
Just Google Nigerian high commission Canada passport for newborn.

sam4774:
Hi,

is this group specific to mums or generally for child-care? If it is for child-care are fathers allowed to get information from these groups as well? If not I will just ask my question here if you can please provide the answer. I have asked it earlier but the answers on the thread seem to be here and there so I am not quite sure. Please what is the process for applying for a new born Nigerian passport in Canada and more importantly is there need for NIN.

Hi all,
I am a mum with two kids (6&1) living in Ontario. I can answer any questions specific to Ontario. We also have several Nigerian mums WhatsApp groups. I can get you added to one in your region once you land(again, specific to Ontario mums).

Hello,
We applied for my baby’s passport in April (received it in Aug) and she doesn’t have NIN. We weren’t asked for it either

sam4774:
Hi all,

Anyone understand the process or how seamless or difficult it is to order a Nigerian passport for a new born in Canada that definitely has no NIN. The Canadian passport ordering was seamless I really hope our Country doesnt show me unnecessary pepper.

I believe there was a lady in the spousal forum who mentioned she got PPR for her visit visa. But it's really trIcky trying to prove you will not just decide to stay with your spouse in Canada rather than go back home. However, employment and assets are usually strong home ties

ikemummy:
From my observation, most of the visa application that was approved this week is for mothers of Temporal or Permanent residents. That of spouses was mostly refused.
Travel / Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by purplerain(f): 8:29pm On Dec 03, 2021
Hi,
Sorry about the refusal.
Did you guys include a letter from his employer stating he would be returning to work? Also, include land properties (if you have) or other assets in your next application. These usually help with home ties.
We were really worried about proving home ties for my dad's application as he is retired and this was first time applying to Canada, but I included several of his properties and he got 10years visa.

You really can't do much regarding the travel history apart from explaining like you did.

All the best in your next application.

OloriOfMontreal:
I'm PR and we applied using the new portal on Nov 10th.

Refusal: December 3rd. (So at least this 14-30 days to process is working)

Reason for refusal: Travel history and asset/financial status in Nigeria

Thanks.
Travel / Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by purplerain(f): 8:22pm On Dec 03, 2021
Hey,
Really sorry about your refusal.
Are you currently working in Nigeria? If yes, try and get a letter from your office clearly stating that you are traveling to visit your husband and you plan to return back to work. Also, do you guys have any properties that are in your name? If yes, include them in your next application (if you choose to reapply). These will serve as ties to Nigeria.
I also believe you can apply for spousal visa as well as reapply because the spousal visa takes a much longer time to process.

Hope this helps

adveert002:
Good afternoon everybody
I was refused visiting visa: reason being that they are not sure I would leave the country because of my family ties in Canada (I applied to visit my husband)

Please should I apply again or I should just focus on spousal Sponsorship instead.

Secondly does any body know know long it takes for spousal sponsorship to be approved

Thanks a lot

You need to combine both documents into one file (use pdf converter apps online). You can only upload one file per placeholder.

Efeosa5:
Hello house ,

Please, I need clarification. After I've uploaded a file and I want to add another. But it's only the change file option there, when I still use it , it changes to the file I just uploaded. Is there another way to go about it ? For example, the proof of funds , I want to upload my own and also that of my sponsor.

Hi All,
Hoping someone can advise. My parents sent their passports to VFS Lagos in two separate envelopes, and tracking showed both were delivered by DHL on same day, Nov 17, just 30mins apart. Now my mum's passport has been dispatched and is currently with IRCC, my dad on the other hand is yet to receive any email from VFS. We have tried contacting them, but been unsuccessful so far.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what we can do as we are worried his passport won't get to IRCC within the required 30 days

Hi Sweetness24,
Have you received email from VFS confirming your passport has been sent to IRCC? I am trying to check how long they take to send passports as my dad's own was delivered by dhl on Nov 17 and he is yet to receive an email.

We won't know the validity of visa until their passport is stamped and returned. They're currently preparing to submit passports for stamping. Yes, I applied by myself. If your sister is a citizen, PR/TR then it should take about 30 business days to process your application using the new IRCC portal.

Efeosa5:
Hi, good evening
Please I'd like to know how long the visa your parents got is for? Is it 6 months or more? And did u apply yaself or you used an agent. ? I want to apply.to visit my sister, and I dunno how long it takes.

A simple Google search shows that the Hospital in Kitchener is Grand River, not Grand Rive (noticed incorrect spelling in the logo and the signatory on the doc you attached). Doubt the real hospital would make such a mistake, (I attached screenshot of their logo below).
Tread with caution

JerryUS:
Please someone should help me confirm this hospital appointment.
I did this through an agent I saw online (Instagram).
The told me that the will arrange for medical for my pregnant sister.

Please someone help me confirm the authenticity of this appointment

Yes, I used the new portal. I answered a bunch of questions, and purpose of visit was family reunification, didn't have to mention covid-19
nitrogen:

@purplerain, did you use the new IRCC portal? If yes, did you have to put covid-19 as purpose of visit anywhere in your application? My understanding is that one can choose 'other' and write COVID-19 in IMM 5257e, however, it looks like the new portal does not require form 5257e.

Hello,
The estimation completion date never showed, just asterisk like you mentioned. Their PPR didn't indicate a particular VO

galala123:
Hello,

While waiting was it showing the estimate completion date? Mine just shows an asterisk leaving me to wonder if something is wrong.

Secondly, which office processed your application eventually as per the PPR letter?

I wonder if new portal applications are processed in a particular location.

Thanks.

Hi,
No,I didn't include my baby in their application. It was just purely family reunification.

Selzsky:
Hi @Purplerain, congrats on your baby!
Please did you include any evidence in your application (maybe like a confirmation or writeup from your Gynae on due date and all) to support your application when you applied for the visa for your mum for the omugwo?

Please is there a way I can reach you so I can ask some other questions, if you do not mind? Thank you.

Hey,
Contacted VFS, they do not accept in person submissions.

Eddy4400:
Sorry I read this late, the amount is NGN 8,920 to this account - CANADA LOGISTIC COLLECTION ACCOUNT
(Account no 0065165839) Sterling bank. Include proof of payment with other documents if sending through courier.

If going in person, he'll likely pay cash. Can you pls confirm if in-person submission is now open?

Update;
My mum's PPR came this morning grin (suspect I was right, cause I filled webform yesterday, could also be a coincidence).

purplerain:
Hello,
I applied for my mum's visit visa on Sep 30 & my dad on Oct 1(i didn't combine the applications because I felt my dad being retired had a weaker profile and I need my mum as I just had a baby).
I had previously applied for them back in March, but reapplied after IRCC more or less suggested I do so (sent them a dm on twitter which the responded to).
Anyways, last week my mum received BVL, and her eligibility review was also initiated but I am yet to hear anything else from them and it's almost been 30 business days (their timeline for new applications). This morning, my dad received PPR along with his BVL and a part of me is worried that the visa officer forgot to attach my mum's PPR (you never know with these people smiley).
I want to send a case enquiry but I do not know which office is processing her application. What do you advise I choose; Accra or Lagos. Also, should I just call them as I am the representative for her application?

From my little knowledge I know people often times just send to the usual likely offices, you can send to Nairobi, copy lagos, London. If it's not them handling it they will usually say so especially London.

Please where did u see they now handle applications in 30days? Are your parents vaccinated? I need to apply for my mum asap but waiting for her passport.

Thanks

Hi Eddy,
Can you please tell me how much the package transmission fee is, can't seem to see it online. My dad plans to go there in person to submit his passport.

Eddy4400:
Chatted with vfs rep and got a response, yes It's okay to submit their docs in 1 package since they applied together

Hello house,

I understand there's a Package transmission fee that must be paid per applicant before sending Passports to VFS Lagos or Abuja. I intend to include the proof of payment with passport and other documents.

My question....since I applied for my mum & dad together, is it okay to send their Passport/docs in one DHL brown envelope and pay for one 2way return courier OR I must separate their docs and pay for 2 separate brown envelopes. Any response will be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Mama,

You can try using a breast pump to bring out the nipples before feeding the babies. A nipple shield could also help.
I have inverted nipples and the lactation consultant advised I use a nipple shield. It worked for a few days before it started hurting so I gave up and now exclusively pump.

dubaby:

This is actually incorrect. I took my vaccines while pregnant and my baby was born healthy. Here in Canada, pregnant women are advised to take the vaccine because they have a higher risk for Covid complications. Also, antibodies are transferred from placenta to the baby providing some immunity against the virus.

Let her consultant with her Doctor.

You can try using Wealthsimple app if you want to get into investment. Their trade app allows you to do it yourself while with their invest app, they choose stocks and ETF to invest.

I have used both although I prefer trade cause I do my own research and buy stocks and ETF and my portfolio is performing better than when I let them do it for me.
