What's the length of the street road?

We can take the width to be 9m. 7m for the carriageway and 1m each for the shoulders at both sides.

The road we're currently working on is a 16.74km road and the award price is 4.72B and it was awarded in 2021. It comprises 12 ring and box culverts, 4km toe beam and drain. My projected construction cost is about 5B.

By the way, what kind of road do you plan to construct?

At bolded, that means you're not considering the fact that there are many procurement routes in the construction industry.

Design and Build is of of the methods of procurement whereby a consultant can also act as the contractor.

UC92:
I doubt if the "Architect" is a professional. An Architect can't act as a consultant as well as a contractor in the same project, it is unethical.
The guy needs to be questioned.

Chronicles from site.

A client hired an architect to design and construct a small scale hotel development for him. Both the client and the architect happened to be friends prior to the job. The client paid money to the architect and by extension the contractor and work commenced immediately.

The contractor did not bid nor submit a bill or quotation for the job, just oral agreement. Being friends, the contractor comes for money anytime he runs out of money given to him by the client.

At a point, the client felt he has spent enough for the project to have been client and the contractor said more money is still needed to take the project to completion. They got stuck. They both hit an impasse.

The client, in his own way, to get the contractor to complete his job without further payment resort self help by threatening the contractor and having him beaten up by hired thugs on several occasions. The contractor reported the case of threat yo life to the DSS.

What happened to be once a blossom friendship has turned sour and created serious enmity among these folks.

DSS hired us as Quantity Surveyors to value the total work done on site on order to reach a reliable solution to this situation.

This is one out of many of disputes that do arise from construction contracts. Even contracts that are well intentioned, planned and necessary documents in place prior to execution do lead to disputes.

So, my call to clients and contractors is to have well defined scope of work, specifications, written contract agreement, all working drawings, contract bill of quantities and bond in place to stem this ugly trend.

Currently have a project in Abuja . A penthouse with 3 rooms down and 2 on the first floor. One sitting room down and a smaller one up. Currently doing the foundation to dpc level. Asked the Engr to give me an estimate for what it'll cost to take it from dpc level to just b4 decking and he sent this. How fair is this pls. This is my first project though.

I asked for this because I was considering doing the one bedroom at the back of this immediately after they finish the ongoing work to dpc level so I can stay in this one bedroom and finish the main building overtime.

You want to do block work, columns, lintels, roofing and first fix of plumbing and electrical installation works...That's my own definition of what constitute a carcass.

Please state the area of the building or the numbed of bedrooms and other important space in the building. That would help to have an approximate estimate.

My engineer said it will cost 10m to get the building to roofing(carcass) I wasn’t expecting it to be that much. If it will cost me 10m to get to roofing at just Caracas, does it mean it will cost me 20million just finish just a 4bedroom bungalow? It is too much. 4bedroom all ensuit, please any help?

Fascia board that you loosely called facing comes in 25mm thickness by 300mm width with a common length of 3600mm in many parts of the country. While on Benin City, for instance, the length comes in 5400mm...Due to this varying length, the price also varies. Need I add that we've both softwood and hardwood for fascia boards. Softwoods are used for formwork while hardwoods are used for works such as roofing, furniture etc.

For ceiling purpose, you would need hardwood. The average price of 25mm x 300mm x 3600mm (commonly called 1' x 12' x 12 feet) is around 3300 to 3800. But for the longer length, 5400mm, it is around 5300 to 6000.

That's asbestos ceiling boards... It comes in 1.20 metres (4 feet) x 1.20 metres (4 feet). The price of one board is between 3200 to 3800.

This is also mean that 1 asbestos board can cover an area of 1.44 square metres...So, if you can the area of the space that needs ceiling, there you get the quantity of ceiling boards to be used after factoring allowance for waste.

The wall needs to be measured, to get the total Sqm. Once the total Sqm is known, it's easy to know the amount of materials you'd need.
