Electronic Voting on national level cannot be compared with local election within a state. Reason is that this electronics have more than 500000 ways of manipulating it. Believe you mean, the memory slot where the votes are store can be manually changed, hacked or destroyed remotely. Moreso, results can be intercepted during transmission. There are tons of loopholes desperate politicians can exploit to manipulate results. The Government might also collude with INEC to pre-programmed to favor a candidate.

Judging from the attacks on irev portal in the recent president election, report has it that there was more than 10000000 attacks on a single day. Now factor that big electronic distributed in about 180000 Polling units, imagine the different alterations, disruptions and manipulations that can be deployed to favor a politician?

That's right. The manual collation & counting of ballots that is subject to manipulation & human error would be no more.

Not a lawyer, but I think there is a legal requirement for ballot paper. Though Constitution amendment can take care of that.

We need such a high-sensitive finger-print device for Electronic Voting.

Yes, a fingerprint-recognition touchscreen would be perfect but we can manage without it.

The idea is once BVAS has successfully accredited you, a touchscreen opens up with pictures of Candidates/Party Logo.
You simply vote by touching your candidate, which is immediately captured & transmitted.

A plug-in printer can even be attached to print out your choice (for the ballot box)

I handled BVAS in my PU and face capture is faster and more better than finger print capture which failed for many voters.
Some elderly people and artisans have bad or swollen or injured fingers which make a difficult to capture but face recognition can never be wrong. So its better.

Your missed the point. The electronic voting itself doesn't have to be via thumbprint capture.
Idea is once BVAS accredits you either by Fingerprint or Face Capture, it takes you to a touch-screen with candidates/logo pictures where you vote by touching.
Which is immediately transmitted.

BVAS/IREV has been the game-changer. But we need to improve by adapting BVAS to capture thumbprints for electronic voting.

We struggle to get simple things done in this country. Probably because the most competent people are not occupying critical positions because of Nepotism.

Reason many of us sacrificed time to go and vote on Feb 25th & today was because we trusted INEC to stick to their guidelines & transmit results immediately from Polling Units.
