Image123: GDP, Gross/Total Domestic Product is the total value of all goods and services a country produces in a year.
In simple terms, it's like adding up everything a country makes—like cars, food, clothes, and services like haircuts or teaching—to see how rich or productive it is. When your salary, business, my salary and that all Nigerians are added together. This is then converted to dollars.
That's the point that fellow made about exchange rate. GDP is just a di.ck measuring contest, it is pretty much useless asides bragging. You can be in debt in the trillions and zillions and have GDP. That current $188.3 billion dollars is about 302,001,904,540,000 naira. That's 302 trillion naira. If the government foolishly pegs the dollar to 450naira per dollar as offical rate, our GDP will simply be recorded as 671 billion dollars. You can wonder why anyone should deceive himself this way. GDP is NOT a dick measuring contest. If companies are folding up and others leaving the country and people no longer able to buy as they used to, there'd be a dramatic decline in GDP. Note below, how we went from higher GDP to $200bn lower while exchange rate stayed the same

ibux: a lot. if our GDP is N1billion in 2022 (During Buhari, N500=$1) and has become N3billion now (under Tinubu, N1,500=$1). then our GDP in dollar terms will still be around the same value, despite that our GDP value has tripled in naira terms, yet it had depreciated in dollar terms, over the same period . GDP is the total value of goods and services produced within a country's borders during a specific period. See below. Nigeria went from having a higher GDP to being 200bn behind. Tell us how exchange rate did it

There are killings and hunger and many people getting kicked out of their apartments because they couldn't afford it. There are lots of Americans pushing drugs...but they're not getting the media attention like Africans portray themselves. One lesson you folks should learn: NEVER, never, never make declarative statements about a country until you've been there and lived there!! |

ALTERNATEID: In terms of real output, our economic performance has not dropped since 2023. In fact, more businesses are making huge money and recording crazy profits.
In Naira terms, our GDP has grown astronomically. Funny enough, when it comes to discussing national debt, hypocritical folks like this guy would argue that we should discuss in Naira terms since Naira is our reporting currency and not the USD but when it comes to discussing GDP, they switch quickly to the USD and ignore the Naira.
Every sensible person knows that the fall in our USD GDP is basically an exchange rate valuation issue and has nothing to do with a drop in the real economic performance. If Tinubu decides to peg the exchange rate at $1/N450 today like Jonathan and Buhari did, our USD GDP will rise immediately to over $600billion. But then, will that add anything to the real performance?
Only a person with a brain full of cow dungs would see the figures of our net foreign reserve and national indebtedness as at 2023 and still argue that we should have continue to borrow to subsidize both PMS and our currency. The era of that pure foolishness is over.
Despite Argentina’s GDP, why are they still borrowing to subsidize their currency? At a time Nigeria’s net foreign reserve has jumped up to over $23 billion, Argentina with big paper value USD GDP is still running to IMF to get bailout loan of $20billion to subsidize their currency. As at today, Argentina is the most indebted country to IMF. Is that the ruinous path you all want our dear country to continue on? You want us to be using N99 out of every N100 revenue that we earn for debt servicing? Don’t you guys pity the country at all? Do you know what is GDP at all? What has GDP to do with exchange rate??! |

The Corruption that often goes with giving such a project to Nigerians can kill the project completely .

It was Gowons project
Gowon had big big vision to build National Unity with the National Theatre See the building they copied below. Carbon copy! You are right. Credit to whom credit is due. It was Gowon's vision (or rather there was just too much money slushing around - I'm sure they told the Bulgarian builders: "money is no object". Only excess money can produce such shaped building. Such would be impossible under civilian rule. Also, I wonder why they didn't opt for architects like Ekwueme and other thousands Nigerian architects.)

If they tell you to compare infrastructure between two airports, will you premise your comparison based on behavioral acts like food taste, human begging, and etc?
You went on Google to search for rating without first looking what was rated.
If you see the most train station in major USA cities , they are usually dirty but it still count as infrastructure. Because it is not sparkling clean does not take away the “infrastructure” in it. My friend, did I ever use the word "infrastructure"? That's your word. I said Kenya runs an AIRLINE and runs it well, while Nigeria CAN'T - despite having in-built large customer base. You conered it into comparing airports and posted some ridiculous photo. Come to find out even at that Kenya is rated better. You then conered it into nebulous "infrastructure". Haba oga! Don't you know when to give up??! |

LegendHero: We are discussing about infrastructure. Then you mentioned airport and I showed you Lagos airport is better infrastructural wise.
Then you mention about a useless rating about food, security, and customer. How does that relate to infrastructure?
We all know Nigerians will hustle you irrespective of the sector. That is not the topic on this thread. I know you are not retarded. We are comparing two airports in totality - the experience. What does a passenger care about "infrastructure" (whatever that means). They care that elevators and escalators work, bathrooms are clean and aways fully functioning and light on 24/7. That's what Kenya has! |

LegendHero: Don’t be an illiterate. Below is the reason why skytrax gave Lagos 2 star. It has nothing to do with infrastructure.
International wing of Muritala airport has a new terminal and that terminal is fantastic when last I used it. Mind you, I use the busiest airport in the world almost everytime (Atlanta one) and I can tell you the new Lagos terminal is fantastic. Even tho it’s very small. Instead of hiding your head in shame for posting that ridiculous photo, you're still talking. Seems like you're the illiterate. What has what you posted to do with Murtala deserving 2 stars?? I've used both airports severally. No one tries to hustle you at Kenya airport and it is more organized. Things actually work though more expensive. At Murtala sometimes the water doesn't run or comes out red and NEPA can take light anytime. Never happens at Kenya airport |

They don't even know that both cities are not in the top 10 best cities in Africa. If Nigeria were as less corrupt like Kenya, there'd be NO comparison. I mean, we have 5 times their population and more natural resources and even smarter and more hustling people. But corruption and scamming won't let us! |

LegendHero: Dangote is also national, NNPC own stake in Dangote refinery.
Tell me the national airline in USA that made USA airline some of the best in the world. Is Delta, United, Spirit, or which of them is national?
Below is Kenya airport, see how useless it look. Do you want to compare this to Muritala? Funny guy😆. He forgets we all have internet. See the real comparison below. Note how Murtala is 2-star airport, while Kenya is 3-star. So, what is the national theater of US? Comparing apples and akara. Dangote refinery - which he famously runs with Indians is what you are are comparing to something 100% owned and run by Kenyans. Look, Nigeria is 5 times the size of Kenya. That is not what we are comparing. Kenya is one 100% black country that can actually run things (without France in the background) and much, much less corrupt than Nigeria!
|
Travel › Re: Pictures Of Some African Countries' National Theatre by QuinQ(f): 3:20pm On Apr 30, 2025 |
LegendHero: Check my post you quoted. What did I mention there?
I can’t compare Nigeria and Kenya because the whole Kenya GDP no even reach Lagos own. It will be an unfair comparison.
Dangote refinery alone is bigger than any investment in Lenya. What da faq is airline business, how much is their airline business worth?
Their airline business is just $193m in capitalization. Dangote refinery alone is worth over $20bn.
Again what is the basis for comparison? We're talking NATIONAL!! National airline, national theater! Dangote could have built HIS refinery anywhere. Different from what the country runs and owns. Nigeria CAN'T run an airline despite having the frequent-flier customer base! |
