This is arrant nonsense from all these Yoruba, hausa and other nigerian minority folks. When it's to kill Igbo people by any means, that's what unites you foolish nigerians. Until other Yoruba dominated markets are closed on such idiotic excuse, then you people can come back here to talk. As for now, this is pure and complete witch hunting of Igbo business, trying your other means to check mate the ever expanding Igbo Business.

Asking people to pay tax by force of closing their shops where you don't have a serious tax collecting system in place is nothing but pure insanity. Those of you using America and Europe as your comparison, have you ever asked yourself why tax payers in those countries rush up to pay their taxes instead of waiting for their IRS to come asking for it? Have you ever seen anybody who in his whole sincere most heart is ever willing to pay taxes?

You can claim there is, but fact is there is not, but the solid systems in place makes it possible for people in those countries to pay up their taxes or face the law. Yet under such solid and tight tax collecting systems in those countries, there are still people evading and finding their ways through it and successfully avoid paying taxes. In those countries you are blindly using as comparison, every official registered businesses, how ever big or small must have their own accountancy office where they are affiliated to and this is by law and they pay this accountancy office at the end of the month. The job of this accountancy offices is to account for everyday sales of their customers who are these business shops, industries and so on.

Some accountancy offices might have up to 20 business shops under their care, this in turn makes them to employ more workers. Such is part of the job creation that you porous heads in nigeria doesn't know about. You have fresh university accountant graduates roaming your Lagos streets without work and all you idiots are here hailing your fashola for closing down Igbo businesses. Each an everyday, this accountancy offices knows each and every sales that their client's selling machines recorded for the day.

All the sales receipts are turn in to those accountancy offices on daily or weekly bases depending on your agreement with your accountancy office. The accountancy office in turn is responsible for calculating your everyday business sales and turning in the record to IRS which in turn sends you your tax bill for the month. Now, don't pay and face the IRS music. Do you see that IRS don't deal directly with business owners, rather they deal with your accountancy office. Now, i am giving example about holding the little business shops accountable for paying up their taxes. Check out how many accountancy offices that will spring up in Lagos if every shop is forced by law to be affiliated to an accountancy office. Check out how many fresh graduates those accountancy office will employ and finally check out how easy it will be to collect taxes from those alaba shoppers.

What makes these accountancy offices attractive in those countries to have them account for your business is that they will also in turn help your business to grow. You don't spend unnecessarily when you know that someone is counting all the money you made in your everyday sales and that tax will be deducted from your money according to the account he made and presented to your country's IRS and not according to your own very account which "must" have cheating inside it against the government.

In those countries you are quick to blindly use as comparison, no registered business does their everyday sales account by themselves. It is not allowed by law. You must be affiliated to an accountancy office that does your everyday sales calculation and you pay them for their services. Check out how many accountants such offices will employ in your nigeria if such rule is being used other than sending Yoruba alayes in uniforms with tax office receipts in their hands to invade Igbo shop/businesses in the name of collecting tax. That is not an efficient way of collecting tax from anyone. Don't expect anyone to pay you tax through such way.

All of you opening your dirty stinking mouths here, have anyone of you or your parents and siblings ever paid tax at anytime or the other in nigeria? Tell your almajiri government in connivance with their Yoruba servers to copy the American and European tax collecting systems and put it in place in your rotten country nigeria and lets see how people are going to evade taxes. In those countries, we hear that so and so individual is being hunted by the tax officials, not a whole group of people and their businesses. You people are claiming to be blind to read the wicked writing on the wall because it involves Igbo people and their businesses.

I disagree, the problem does not lie with putting people who can "tolerate" each other together, but having an effective police system that can enforce law and order and having an enforcement agency that is able to bring culprits of a crime to justice even years after the crime is perpetrated. As things stand and as far as i am aware, there is no notable detective or forensic agency or section in the country and if they exist they are doing a very lousy job. How many people have been killed throughout the north as a result of "riots" and how many people have been convicted as a result of such? When you hear stories of police officers standing by while hooligans carry out their despicable activities then what do you expect? What is the message being sent out? When crimes put under the umbrella of "religous riots" are treated as childs play then what on earth do you expect? That it will stop automatically? A people are being given a message that there is nothing wrong with what they are doing and you expect them to stop? I can't wait for the day when a leader with balls will be able to throw a few imams and even pastors in jail for inciting their followership to violence and i am not afraid to be blunt and i may be wrong, but this problem is more pronounced in the north and with imams. Wasn't IBB quoted as saying it was "god's will" in response to one of the earlier riots in the 70s as i am led to believe? So what is the message?
Until Igbo president emerges, expect no president of your nigeria to do such thing. Obasanjo, a Yoruba president was there and it happened under his nose, what did he do? nothing and no arrest till this date because the victims were Igbos. This is why i support General Laurant Nkunda 100% for fighting to defend his people who are being killed on daily bases.

The story of the Killings in Jos town is just re-writing itself again, they are out there again and have start another set of Riots, Yeah I support a one Nigeria but what happens when someone comes to your house then brings in his brothers and discovers hes got a larger family then from there he wants to take over your house what will you do? Allow him take over or what? is that how its done? when a Visitor wants to rule you because you were friendly with him and the next thing he wants to claim your property. We have to do something about that and in my own opinion our Visitors are taking us so much for Granted I don't advocate Violence but the Government should stand up to it and spell out things clearly.

We are for Peace but be carefull not to push the goat to the wall, he could develop teeth.
Yeah, keep supporting one nigeria. You aint even started supporting and you aint even seen anything. And by the way who are you calling visitors and who are the hosts? Is it Cameronians, Chadians, Ivorians, Americans, Lebanese, Europeans or whom exactly? In your so called one nigeria, why shouldn't anyone have the right to live and school and do his or her business in any location of his or her choice inside your so called one nigeria if such person is a full blooded nigerian which you are supporting to remain one country?

Since you don't want the so called visitors in your areas of the country, why don't you support the division of nigeria so that everyone will answer their fathers name in their own country, then when such person visits your new country, you will have the full right to call him or her a visitor. Until nigeria is divided, you don't have any right to call any nigerian a visitor to any part of the country where him or her decides to reside. Unless if you are referring to a non nigerian, so come out here to let us know.

Why should you called anyone inside a country him or her owns together 1000% with you a visitor? Are you mad or something? If you can't move out your lazy arsss from your own area of the country and travel to other areas to do businesses, work, educate and compete in other areas, then shut the mess up or call for the division of your so called one country so that you will have your own personal country and have the full right to call someone else other from your country a visitor. Friendly my arrssss.

Niger ex-slave wins landmark case

A West African court has found Niger's government guilty of failing to protect a woman from slavery in a landmark case for the region.

The court found in favour of Hadijatou Mani, who says she was sold aged 12 and made to work for 10 years.

A judge ordered the government - which says it has done all it can to eradicate slavery - to pay Ms Mani 10m CFA francs (£12,430; $19,750).

Despite being outlawed, slavery also persists in other West African states.

"I am very thankful for this decision. It was very difficult to challenge my former master and to speak out when people see you as nothing more than a slave," Ms Mani said.

"With the compensation I will be able to build a house, raise animals and farm land to support my family. I will also be able to send my children to school so they can have the education I was never allowed."

Mossi Boubacar, a lawyer for Niger's government, told Reuters news agency that the government would respect the court's decision.

BBC West Africa correspondent Will Ross says the ruling is embarrassing for the government of Niger and sends a strong message that it needs to do more to implement the law and end slavery.

It could also have huge consequences for thousands of other people who have been kept in conditions of slavery across the region, he says.

Jailed

Ms Mani, now 24, says she was sold to a man called Souleymane Naroua when she was 12. The price was the equivalent of about $500 (£315).

She says she was forced to carry out domestic and agricultural work for the next 10 years.

Ms Mani says she was raped at the age of 13 and forced to bear the man's children.

"I was beaten so many times I would run to my family," she told the BBC's World Today programme. "Then after a day or two I would be brought back.

"At the time I didn't know what to do but since I learned that slavery has been abolished I told myself that I will no longer be a slave."

In 2005, her master freed her and gave her a "liberation certificate", reports Anti-Slavery International, which helped her bring the case.

But when she left him and tried to marry another man, her "master" said they were married.

A local court found in favour of Ms Mani and she went ahead with her new wedding.

But this was then overturned on appeal and she was sentenced to six months in prison for bigamy.

She took her case to the Court of Justice of the West African regional body Ecowas earlier this year.

Ms Mani accused the government of Niger of failing to protect her from slavery, which was criminalised five years ago.

A local organisation fighting to end the practice says there are more than 40,000 slaves in Niger.

But the government has said such figures are exaggerated.

Binding

Anti-Slavery's Romana Cacchioli told the BBC that her group had managed to free about 80 women from slavery in Niger over the past five years.

The Ecowas court ruling will be binding on all member states and so will have consequences for people being kept as slaves beyond Niger, the BBC's Idy Baraou reports from Niger.

For generations, the children of a slave have automatically become the property of the slave master.

Ms Mani says one of the reasons she has taken this court action is to secure her two children's freedom and ensure they do not have to endure the same fate.

Slavery is also still practised in Mali and Mauritania.

Aidan McQuade, the director of Anti-Slavery International, told the BBC the case would be crucial in highlighting the plight of slaves in Africa.

"This is very important in terms of the community of nations, and particularly the African community of nations looking at other countries within that region and saying: 'What standard are we expecting each other to be held to in relation to international and national law?'"

While you are at it masturbating. Point out for us where in the article it was mentioned that the group you and your people fears so much for fighting against the injustices perpatrated against their people by your people, MEND carried out the raping.

Investigation? Before you BELIEVE it? Because it didn't happen in the niger delta where you will immediately BELIEVE that MEND actually chop the money of the people they are fighting for?

I didn't see all Yorubas coming into this thread to start BELIEVING and condemning bankole as they rushed and started BELIEVING and comdemning the freedom fighters of the niger delta on the raping of the youth corpers in the niger delta without waiting for investigation to be done first.

Do you see why i call all you people hypocrites? Why didn't you wait for investigation on what happened to the corpers in niger delta before BELIEVING it was perpetrated by the freedom fighters? But you are full of your self now to wait for investigation before BELIEVING that your bankole have chopped money?

Now all you hypocrits should shut up and mind your business in your own area of the country. The story said clearly "suspected militants"   now all you hypocrits are taking advantage of the hatred and fear you have for the true niger delta freedom fighters to associate them to this evil act.

What if those evil men are nigeria's military in disguise and perform such act that will lead big mouths like you all to start painting the true freedom fighters bad? I am sure they will be somewhere laughing at their success of scoring cheap point to discredit the good work of the freedom fighters while reading all these nonsense some of you are posting here without reasoning. They know well that such evil acts like this one anywhere in niger delter will lead all hypocrits like you all to associate it to the freedon fighters.

What if those people are ordinary street criminals that just arranged themselves and went on this evil act? I am 100% sure that MEND and other freedom fighters, the groups you fear so much will never and i repeat never engage in this kind of act. The people that did this evil act are simply ordinary street criminals and have nothing to do with the niger delta freedom fighters fighting for their people's rights.

Someone in one of the above comments is even quick to insinuate that all they know is to spend crude oil profit for themselves alone and went on to add that that is never going to happen! Who will stop them? Your people abi? so that your people can spend the same money recklessly at Abuja and Lagos and hide the rest in foreign bank accounts. Sorry, the freedom fighters will never allow you again. Gone are those days when they were sleping.

My question to you is, does the crude oil belong to you? Are you from the niger delata? The crude oil belongs to them the niger deltans and they have the sole right to spend the money accrued from it in any manner they wish. Let it not be your headache. You better go and mind your own fukcing business in your own area and spend your cocoa and groundnut money the way you feel and stop these jealousy.

The raping is an evil act and i hope the police and other security agents track and expose those evil men that did this. Yet again the question should be, who actually did this? So, stop associating this evil act to the niger delta freedom fighters when you are not sure. Until those evil men are found and exposed and convicted, you should shuut the Bleep up. What if the evil act was performed by ordinary street criminals or the same military that were sent to protect the lives and properties of ordinary citizens. Are we not talking of nigeria where anything goes?

yes, I'm very afraid. shocked

You should be, cause Igbos are coming with a bang. Have you ever wondered about the factors that led USA to predict that your country will breath last in an about 15 years time? Read my posts above and stop to have a rethink. Those are just few of them. You know very well that if everything that i wrote above is allowed to happen, then it will be the authomatic and RIGHTFUL blockage of the illegal source of your people's gari.
Can your people agree and allow such to happen? Your guess is as good as mine. Can the Igbos let your people to have your way when power is already in Igbos hands? Your guess is also good as mine. Where will such disagreement lead your country to? Now rethink Americas prediction.
You must be really really afraid. Status quo is nearing and end. Abeg, make una remove ya'radua at any time his health fails him and install another awusa person to continue and finish their 8 years jo. Igbos are waiting to take over their rotational turn. It's getting sweeter everyday.

People like me? So who exactly am i? Is this just trying to make a mountain of assumptions when you don't even know the first thing about me so that you can easily fit me into a category to justify your arguements or reasoning? When have i ever said i am not in support of federalism? You know what? I won't indulge you any further, have a nice day.
You have to run quick quick and don't look back. Whilst running out of this thread, remember to bend well so you don't hit that your ogbonge head on the door out. Anyone that opens his stinking mouth in nigeria and yarn this rubbish quote below must be an idiot for knowing exactly what obtains in nigeria, but prefers to act ostrich. This is what you said by comparing USA to nigeria in the ways both are being run and such can only be said by a certified idiot.

Now, go ahead and tell people if NewYork get any share of money from Washington as states in your nigeria does from Abuja, or if Washington takes any money from New York if not federal taxes paid by New York to Washington. In your sorry case, Abuja takes all of the money from niger delta and other states and share peanuts to states while the remaining money goes into foreign bank accounts of your illiterate awusa masters. Come back to deny this. Ewu awusa.

lmao!!!!!

Quotasystem: make up your mind what you want:

Igbo president on the "throne"

or

The breakup of Nigeria.

is it just me or are you very confused?
Yes, i am all for it cause it will eventually lead to the breaking of nigeria. Reason being that you awusas and Yorubas will not/never accept his revision of lopsided policies that have been keeping Igbos down. Yes, Igbo president will review and quash all old idiotic policies and replace them with new ones that will let everyone participate in a fair environment.

Can awusas and Yorubas imagine new gigantic TRUE and REAL INTERNATIONAL airport in the mode of MM at either Onitsha, Enugu or Umuahia where i can fly direct from abroad into Igbo mainland area? (Yes Igbos deserve such by merit) Can awusas and Yorubas imagine new gigantic sea port in the mode of Apapa warf at Onitsha? Can awusas and Yorubas imagine convening a true national conference which will give birth to true federalism where all regions can manage their wealth and affairs and develop at their own pace?

Can awusas and Yorubas imagine the quashing of quota system where every posts and appointments will be done based on merit? Can awusas imagine the debasing of nigeria's military bases and equipments equally to all regions of nigeria in such a way that no region can have more military power than the other to avoid any military threat by any region against the other? Reorganise the military and restore it's seniority and discipline to the sort obtained pre Biafra/nigeria war? Scrap military enrollement grade which at present starts from JSS and upgrade it to SS? Make sure that all regions are represented equally in the number of military men.

Can awusas stand jailing for life or sentencing to death as your nigeria's constitution states, anyone that kill any Igbo person in the name of religious riot? No one have been sentenced despite the death of more than 100,000.00 Igbos through awusa insitigated religious riots since time immemorial.

I haven't even listed several other abnormal things in your nigeria that must be changed by Igbo president. These are just few and little things that Igbo president will bring on plate on mounting the throne. These are also things that awusas and Yorubas can not stand and see happening as it will affect their source of gari, which will inturn lead to national chaos and in turn give birth to the division of the luggard's cage as Igbos will take nothing less other than to bring true changes through one of their sons as the president of your nigeria. You must be afraid.

So government is the only way to bring development? Is washington more "developed" than New York? Perhaps a good idea would be asking people to focus on developing the area they are in instead of waiting for government to reach them, which to me just sounds like a euphemism for national cake sharing?
Don't be silly by involving USA, aka New York and Washington into this. One question to you is, does New York get the money being used to run and build it from Washington? Rather, it pays only tax to Washington. Does USA share national money to it's states as it's been done in your failed country nigeria?

It's easy for you to open your mouth gboa gboa and ask for people to develop their own area, but when real federalism is called for which will bring the real development to the regions through each region using their hard earn money to develop their own areas at their pace which you hinted on and same as it's done in the same USA which you used as a reference, people like you will be the first to block such true federalism.

If its' in the USA that you prefer out of your ignorance to use as a reference here, what reason does Abuja/Washington has to hold on to the money that is been gotten from Niger Delta and share it to other lazy states in the name of national cake?
Do you know how much development such money if left alone to Niger Deltans would have brought to their area? Since you can not practice it as it's been done in USA, then the originator of this thread is right by calling for the rotation of federal capital so that Niger Delta money will float to other areas as it has done in Lagos and now Abuja.

Monkey can not be working while baboon will stay idle and be chopping only. Once Igbo president mounts the throne, (that is if your nigeria still remains one then) Enugu or Umuahia will be declared the new capital of your country nigeria and all money from the Niger Delta channeled to there for rapid development. After all, what is good for,             is also good for             .You fill the blank space if you agree.
