Thanks for that tip as well.

Some customers might also like to wait for minor fixes to be completed. Some even prefer to stay around while their car/vehicle is being worked on.
Already a no-no before the virus. Thanks.

Copy this if you haven't started doing it.
Or just have a drop box, set appointments etc by phone and customers do not wait for vehicles...

An auto shop was recommending this 20W-50 for me for my next oil change. See attached picture saying that it's is semi-synthetic.

Also is Mobil SHP recommended for an 09 Corolla?. According to them, it's cheaper and I can change that with filter every 3months. My last change was a 5W-30
NO angry

Also, ATF doesn't not need regular changing. Usually at over 100k miles. Each vehicle specifies when.

my 2002 QX4 is having MAF issues. This was confirmed by OBD II scans. Codes erased and it keeps popping up. Bought a brand new MAF (not OEM ), it didn't make any difference. Tried different used MAFs from the parts market here in Enugu, they were all misbehaving.
Is there any Nissan expert that is based in Enugu in this forum?
Radautoworks , for how much can I get an OEM MAF sensor from you?
It's not in stock and will take 7-10 days maybe now with all this upheaval http://weblink.carquest.com/acl/?mfgName=MAF&partNumber=MA205 N72,945 with a 2 year warranty at current exchange rate

I don't think that's your problem though... What's the exact code you are getting and is it the only one? Include exact code description as given by scanner too.

I’m referring to downstream. Margins are shit in downstream. Upstream is another story.

Downstream is the part of the industry that sells petrol and diesel and lpg directly. The margins are shrinking and it is harder because there is poor regulation. The majors for instance try to build environmentally safe stations which can come to a cost of 150 million or more per station. Your independents will say fk that and build at 40million with a station whose tanks and pipes will leak in 5 years. The government is inconsistent on ‘regulation’ of pricing as so called deregulated product like diesel have price margins dictated by ppmc. In this environment it can take a station 10 years to return on its investment. The only business still doing 100% safe stations is total, probably because they use procurement from French businesses to repatriate money back to France.

I assume radautoworks markets lubes . So if you buy lubes at 50k/ liter from Carquest and then you get a mandate from them to sell at 47k per liter, without any guarantee of reimbursement for existing stock, what do you do?
Carquest is not a government body so they cannot mandate that. I keep having to reveal things that I don't want to. Then someone will come and call me condescending.

FYI, my dad created JV and NAPIMs and my mom was one of NNPCs first employees and retired as one of NNPCs chief legal officers. It was expected that I follow their paths but despite having the qualifications I refused to to avoid nepotism.

I remind you that I only comment on topics I know about.

You win sha. Please let's leave Uber thread for Uber discussion.

Say fg is owing me 12 billion in subsidy arrears. They have been promising to pay this for four years. Last month, fg sold me 12 million liters of pms at 130n / liter ( I do not have the exact figure NNPc sells). I am expected to sell this ex depot at 140. The station will sell at 145.Now the government then tells me to start selling at 135 per liter ex depot ( depot to trucks) when I have not cleared the 12 million liters. They say we will resolve it. Based on my previous experience can I trust the fg?

It is even worse because the margins are next to nothing anymore. This is why Texaco and Mobil puller out. The word is total is also looking to exit the market

There is not really a subsidy anymore. Previously majors brought in product and were reimbursed by the fg. Now only the fg brings in product which is sold to the majors. NNPc calls it under recovery. The old structure when people imported and were repaid by the fg is gone . I hope this clarifies. smiley
They have to sell at the mandated price so all that is moot. Also, a lot of your assumptions are incorrect. wink

P.S. Texaco and Mobil pulled out because they were late to the party offshore Lagos and their holding in the Delta are no longer at a point where the margins support their huge operating costs. A smaller outfit will still make a killing in the Delta. Offshore Lagos is where it's at now. If you know, you know.

The government is still owing all of the majors billions from the devaluation exercise of I think 2014. No one is going to trust any commitment from a government that has repeatedly reneged and is stone broke
Not sure what this has to do with subsidy that has already been enacted?

The same subsidy that was removed in 2015 (N87 to N145 ) that caused scarcity and suffer all over nigeria
Now you saying govt increased subsidy again. So what was the reason why d price increased from 87 to 145 ?
Nigerians or our leaders , keep telling us different stories.2day no subsidy 2mro increase subsidy
If you think they can sell at those prices a product they sold for more than that, was refined and sold back to them without a subsidy, whatever you say you are right.

And if hopefully was not the case.... As in if 20W50 was used.
Two, maybe three choices
1. Stick with 20w50 till the engine packs up
2. Gradually shift over to proper oil so engine doesn't get clogged and knock
3. Have engine taken apart to check for sludge, cleaned if necessary then use proper oil (my personal favorite choice)

hmmm. i do keep a keg of water in the car. for emergencies. [like one fine day when number two came at me out of knowhere] i used to keep a full bottle of sunlight liquid soap but that was before i got a pickup with an open back and no case/rear box. for me hand santiser is more convenient. washing my hands means i need water, soap and a means of drying my hands after. in a taxi with a stream of clients - it gets even more difficult, esp as nigerians can be stubborn. i think its faster to dab on your hand than take soap, , pour water, wash hand pour water again , then dry hand. plus if you dont have liquid soap, bar soap is also difficult to manage in a car. but those are just my thoughts as a lazy engineer who wants to do everything quick quick

but now that you mention it, i can get a small bottle of liquid soap to keep in a cranny in the car. thanks.
Faster but less effective. Also causes the virus to mutate. There is now a second strain...

The last time I checked you can still get hand sanitizers at shop rite for 670. It is Nigerians that are inflating the price. You should also get spirit and a rag. Put the spirit in a spray bottle. Better to by the1.5 liter container. You need to constantly spray surfaces in your car. Door handles etc.

My understanding is that there are no surgical masks anywhere.

I am buying all these mini containers from miniso so I can have multiple containers of sanitizer round the house rather than a single one
You're better off buying all the bars of soap or liquid soap and keeping a jug of water in your car for washing your hands regularly than you are with hand sanitizer. Mix bleach solution for wiping down surfaces and wash hands. Ditch the hand sanitizer.

From what I read from from the person who put out the story, the issue was the land on which she has the facility and there is a case in court over the said land, so how do you go destroying things over a case that is in court, if not high handedness...
Read again. She built a commercial property on what was clearly restricted as a residential area. Same thing that happened to Lekki phase 1 and now there is a loud ass night club across the street from what should have been my parent's quiet refuge.

It's like putting a workshop in NICON or banana island and expecting nothing to happen.

Not really. Price you were paying before was highly subsidized by the government at a loss. Saudi price drop would reduce loss but they increased subsidy to get you a lower price anyway forgoing the reduction in loss of revenue so yes, thank sai baba.
