democrat101: Good Day everyone! there's this American woman (First Class citizen) I've known for years now. It never occurred to me to discuss traveling with her since I was still in school all those years and doing well plus things was still better off in Nig a little. fast-forward to now that I'm done with nysc plus finding job been difficult, the current situation of the country and so on. I then informed of my plans to come over to the US to work since I don't have enough funds to go via student route. She suggested she is going to get me a nanny job (ps I'm a guy) reason been that that's the best way to get me in. she said she's going to convince a rich American Family to sponsor me on work visa etc. After she told me all this I came online to verify but I didn't see any thing of such kind of visa (nanny work visa) so I need you all to help me shed light to this. 123JohnF: Wrong. I did see myself processing the maid visas in US embassy but it's when you know people and you are recommended well. In each country US embassy have the local group of recommended maids and if the diplomat likes the maid or nanny work, they have this option to bring her to the states. Other rich people does it too but it's not announced, you can't apply by yourself. Key word. DIPLOMATS. they are not subject to US law. Rich people are. Again, it doesn't matter who you know, it's not happening. Even look at the Trumps. |

123JohnF: They do, Work & Travel visa for instance, some American diplomats or rich people can make a contract and bring the nanny, cook or maid to the states. No they don't. You are mixing up things. Rich people bring in highly skilled au pairs with advanced degrees. The maids you are talking about are here illegally which is why they have no rights. They are promised work visas like this young man who asked the question but never have them. Even a white house hopeful had to drop their bid when they were busted for an illegal maid/nanny. I am an employer who has hired immigrants on work visas so I know what i am saying. I don't care who you are, you are not getting a work visa for a maid or nanny. There are people in America for that and it's not a skilled job |

123JohnF: They keep your papers but if you don't want to work for them, call the police and you are free to go, of course losing your job and visa. Usually with domestic help families try to protect the house from robbery and keep the passport but they can't prevent you from walking out and if there no problems, nothing disappeared from the house, the passport is given back to his/her owner. Nothing bad happens and unless it's a crazy sick family, nobody locks you up, it's more easy to accuse the employer than the worker. If the worker is legal, the employer has obligations and starting from the visa processing the employers signs.
But yes, illegal people gets in troubles because they don't exist in the system and they are afraid to call the police This is just one of many such stories https://www.houstonpress.com/news/katy-couple-charged-in-bizarre-servant-slavery-case-8141487 |

123JohnF: If it is the real visa and he travels to work as a babysitter, it's not scam, it's a work visa and America has the law to regulate it, how many hours to work, free time and weekend, etc. It's a low pay and visa is attached to the employer, same as IT professionals or agricultural workers but it is a LEGAL stay, nobody can make him slave. Maybe illegal workers can be used and abused, not even paid but not LEGAL visa worker, he can sue his employers and get paid. Do it LEGAL, no problem Umm.. NO. you must not be watching the news. They take and keep your papers so you have no choice. |

Adarich: HOW I SOLVED MY HONDA 1999 V6 OVERHEATING PROBLEM; The car started overheating in march this year. Immediately I noticed it, I took it to the mechanic village (Abakaliki). All I met prescribed their usual; "remove thermostat, connect fan direct, change radiator to double cell" Because I had a leaky radiator, I first changed it, but the overheating persisted.
Their next option was to remove the thermostat and connect fan direct, I resisted for days, while searching the net for solutions. Then, the only way to avoid overheating was to drive with AC on. But once AC is off, the temperature needle will climb to red. Eventually I succumbed to removing thermostat, but when the thermostat housing was opened, the thermostat was long gone, removed by previous owner.
Finally, the fans were connected direct. Yes overheating stopped, but I wasn't comfortable with the fan being on constantly, so I continued my search for solutions online.
My efforts yielded this week. I bought and changed the two coolant temperature sensors on the engine and that ended it. Overheating stopped, fan now picks up only when engine temperature peaks. I'm now enjoying my baby once again. So you are still riding without a thermostat?? |

MoonlightDrive: Remember a certain Mr. President of a populous black nation was almost killed via his Air Conditioning system, thank God for good medical care abroad, he is still battling the aftermath effect of the inhaled air from the vent system. My point is this, some of the refrigerants being sold do not meet the expected quality standard, quite frankly those in charge of such things in Nigeria do not care. Cancer and a lot of terminal diseases are on the increase in Nigeria, it is the food, it is the body cream ladies use, it is this,it is that nobody is sure, because we have a poor database and lack research facility. It may even be nylon tint coupled with the excessive heat from the sun, that might be releasing certain toxin within a closed and sealed space. We the drivers spend hours everyday under the excessive heat of the sun in such sealed environment, was the cheap nylon tint designed to withstand such excessive heat from the Sun on a daily basis? over to the appropriate standard organisation in the country. We may be slowly killing ourselves if we underestimate that the quality of what we breathe in on a daily basis matters, remember for every rider you pick, you need to put on your a/c.... Some of these low quality refrigerants may be slow poison to our system... the medical issues may come up 10 or 15 years later, when you should be enjoying the fruit of your labour, then you would be telling your doctor, such problem has never existed in your family. Prevention as they say is better than cure. Let us not be penny wise and health wise foolish! Well said. |
