Politics / Re: Criminal Organization: Where Did El Rufai Get Millions Of Dollars For His Start- by Raheeqilmaktoom: 2:16pm On Dec 05, 2023
SSFeedsNigeria:
Someone called Nigeria a criminal organization and I felt bad. However, events that are happening in recent times have proven such damning assertions right. Just a few days ago, police authorities stated that anyone with huge amounts or assets they can’t prove how they amassed them, would be prosecuted. Even though I was skeptical about the police holistically carrying it out, I still felt it was a welcome development.

Moments later, news broke out that El Rufai, the diminutive former governor of Kaduna state has floated a start-up where he invested personal funds running into millions of dollars!

The question any sound mind should be asking now is, where did El Rufai get millions of dollars from? Did he win a lottery? Did he create anything that had investors from Silicon Valley pouring in heavy funds?

At least, we can easily verify El Rufai’s work history dating back to the time Obasanjo made him minister of FCT to the time he ruled Kaduna state for 8 years. How much did El Rufai earn during those years?

For someone to easily drop millions dollars for a startup, he most likely has other millions of dollars stacked elsewhere!

Can former governors in other countries, even developed ones like USA or UK throw millions of dollars around in such manner immediately after leaving office?

Does it mean that governors like El Rufai and others are at liberty to steal public funds as much as they want without institutions in Nigeria asking questions? It’s on record that Kaduna state is one of the most indebted states in Nigeria. Did this man help himself with borrowed money?

Can Nigeria ever develop with such massive corruption going on in high places?

1. It isnt a start-up as we call them here, its a VC.

2. The inner workings and framework (along with investors) in the VC is not out in the public, meaning everything is just conjectures and theories right now.

3. Mal. Nasir El-rufai I learned has worked privately for over 2 decades before his appointment by OBJ. He has contacts and associates along with experience needed to raise such money from people, without making noise (and believe me, there are Nigerians that can raise such amount within a month).

Given the above, nobody can say for sure the funds are proceeds of crime except people in authority.

Sometimes, its better to focus on whats clear than to bug your mind with what-ifs and hows over things you have absolutely no input or effect on.

Politics / Re: Enough Of Online Ethnic Contest On Nairaland by Raheeqilmaktoom: 9:23pm On Dec 04, 2023
Tjra:

There is a difference between Yorubas and Fulanis.

Fulanis don't do social media, so it's very likely most of them never saw those divisive comments. Besides, the harsh reactions during Buhari was directly linked to his body attitude whenever killer herdsmen are at it.

The situation is different now because Yorubas are Tech savvy. They are everywhere from Nairaland to Twitter, etc. The heat generated when to ferocious groups clash won't be funny.

For someone like me, I never attacked Igbos until they started insulting Yorubas because Tinubu won the elections. Infact, I voted Peter Obi in February.

Like OP says, the blame goes to both tribes. And it's unfortunate our children will grow up to continue this if care is not taken.

Funny reverse psychology.

1. The fulanis (or the northerner) didnt become an object of attack on NL during Buhari;s regime, there are threads from around 2006-2008 when this platform had more sane people than insane ones that glorify insulting northerners.

2. If the fulanis arent on social media as you claimed, does that make all the falsehood, cosnpiracy theories and lies spread against them OK by the horde of hell allergic to reasoning?

3. If the fulanis are only derided as a result of Buhari's body language as you claimed, what makes the current tribal idiocy between the ibo and yoruba any different, as the ibo attack the yoruba for something they feel is right (or they were cheated out of) and the yoruba reacts in like manner.

All these hypocrisy and double standard wont do anyone any good.

Those who call it an Igbo coup are the same people who never call Murtalas coup a Hausa coup, or call Buhari's coup a Fulani coup

They are the same people who honoured coup plotters like Murtala and Buhari. They named airports after one and put him on the N20 note. They also elected and re-elected the other one President

But the only time they remember that coup is bad is if they can call it Igbo coup

1. How many people did Murtala and Buhari's coups killed?
2. Those who became victims of the coup, where are they from? Their ethnicities?

Lets start with that.

Its high time people accept their responsibilities and put the past where it rightly belongs, not try and justify whatever atrocities the committed and tweak history to suit their warped mentalities.

Politics / Re: Atiku Voices Frustration As American University Of Nig. Struggles To Stand Firm by Raheeqilmaktoom: 11:40am On Nov 28, 2023
SoNature:
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar expressed discontent with the progress of the American University of Nigeria (AUN), which he established 19 years ago, lamenting its failure to fully realize its potential under current management.

During this year’s Founder’s Day celebrations, Atiku revealed that his primary goal in founding AUN was to contribute to society, not to gain political office.

In his address, titled “AUN in the Age of Socio-Economic Crisis and Emerging Disruptive Technologies,” he indirectly criticized leadership transitions and managerial challenges that hindered the institution’s development.

Despite investing personal funds without seeking financial returns, Atiku emphasized the need for AUN to become self-sustaining and generate surpluses for further development.

He warned of the changing educational landscape, urging institutions to adapt to emerging disruptive technologies and the impact of artificial intelligence on teaching and learning.

Atiku questioned AUN’s preparedness for these changes, emphasizing the importance of addressing challenges in the context of Nigeria’s socio-economic crisis. Despite expressing cautious optimism, he identified a shared “mistaken” philosophy afflicting both AUN and the Nigerian state.

Source: https://platformtimes.com.ng/atiku-voices-frustration-as-american-university-of-nigeria-struggles-to-stand-firm-19-years-after-founding/

AUN was established on weak foundations.

Right from inception, it wasnt an institution that the children of the middle-class from their immediate environment (the NE and the greater north) could attend, it was built as a place for the children of the high and mighty and such, middle and lower families coudnt even aspire to send their wards there.

Today, the children of the high and mighty dont consider it 'posh' enough to study in Nigeria no matter how 'posh' an university presents itself.

Another thing, AUN came with certain policies that literally pushed away a bulk of their would be customers. Religion and culture are sensitive issues in their environment yet, AUN was adamant on introducing not just American style education to the region (which was OK) but American values and cultures, this prompted many people to avoid the Institution as they saw it as an instrument of American soft power that could influence how things turn out within their very traditional communities.

Today, the NE boasts of (give or take) more than 15 public universities and more than 5 private ones most of which are very affordable for people and also do not pose any threat to the value system of the people.

AUN needs to either adopt and correct or see to its closure within the next decade.

Car Talk / Re: Things You Didn't Know About Evs by Raheeqilmaktoom: 3:20pm On Nov 25, 2023
DomPerignon:
1. No EV manufacturer or EV subsidiary of a conventional car manufacturer has ever posted a profit. No, Tesla and the entire Musk operation has never posted a profit since it's inception. Conventional car companies lose money making EVs.

2. EV batteries account for as much as 80-85% of cost of manufacturing EV cars.

3. EV batteries have a shelf life and depreciation in battery life and quality is one slippery slope. Once the batteries go out, it will cost as much as buying a conventional luxury car to have them replaced.

4. EV batteries constantly discharge even when parked and turned off. The batteries require climate control to keep them warm in winter and cool in hot climate. You are not going to escape battery shelf life by keeping the car parked.

5. Manufacturing EV batteries have more environmental footprints than drilling for oil. Those rare earth metals locked in the Congo rainforest need heavy equipment running on so-called fossil fuels to mine. Large swaths of rain forests are depleted to get to those rare earth metals. Huge amounts of water are used in both mining and refining Rare earth metals . The waste waters end up polluting the ecosystem irreparably.

6. EV batteries need power from conventional power plants to charge. Solar panels and wind turbines will not cut it. You need 240volts charging port that will be generated from coal , gas , nuclear powered stations or from Dams.

7. Spent EV batteries are a pain in the ass in disposing off. No one has a clue on how to safely dispose of them. They most likely will end up in land fills. Now imagine the entire planet switches to EVs and imagine how that will be a problem because conventional ICE cars can easily have every component recycled including the engine.

8. You will never see an EV heavy duty truck, trailer .

Nigerians needs to criticize evil when it’s evil but that’s not the case here , when it goes your way in Nigeria you call it grace or luck if it turn sour we call it corruption. Wike’s name was accredited to him in 2019 election when he did Abracadabra for PDP in rivers same people who named him are crying today because he’s no longer working for them .

Right from the run-up to the 2015 elections.

He used raw violence to make everyone cower, used the police - one CP Mba, the military, thugs, just about everyone to achieve his objective.

I remember one article in around 015-2016 'Rivers of blood' just to tell you the kind of moster the man is but people were hailing him then, because it was against someone that was not within their ranks.

So if I build my pharmaceutical company in port Harcourt I must use apapa to import raw materials I can't use onne in the same city

The battle has ended and the next stage is happening inside Israel where the far right politicians and PM Netanyahu will all be sacked if not being assassinated by aggrieved opponents.

Pm Netanyahu has nothing to show for his relentless bombing and killing of defenceless babies and women of Palestine. With likely war crime hanging around his head and the same people he believed he was fighting for now calling for his head, he lost and should by now be regretting coming back to that office by compromising for the far right politicians. His normalization of ties with the Arabs has been frustrated and shredded by Hamas as no Arab country is interested any more.

His investigation at ICC will still proceed regardless of his country's non membership of ICC and arrest warrant issued against him like it was done for President Putin.

All the killings on both sides must be investigated. Netanyahu won a battle but lost a war to Hamas that got what they wanted. Check my signature for free stuffs!

This is aside backing the State of Israel into a corner as they have lost completely the PR war all over the world.

And that isn’t even half of the Story!!!

Obi Ebbi who was a biafran Soldier confessed in his book “ broken back axle , unspeakable events in biafra “ they killed all the non Igbos along the biafran army’s withdrawals route it in order to prevent information on their biafran army’s Movement from being passed to the Federal Soldiers who were in Pursuit behind them

When the Biafran Soldiers Withdrew from Ore their was a massive bloodbath they Slaughtered every Non Igbo they found on their Withdrawal Route between Ore in Ondo State and Agbor
After the Biafran Army reached Agbor every Non Igbo they found in Agbor was Slaughtered
Peter Obe the Photo Journalist Of Daily Times took a Photograph Of it with both sides of the Road full of dead bodies as far as the eye could see
From Ore to Agbor and inside Agbor Town everywhere was full of the dead Bodies of the.Civilians which the Biafran Army had Slaughtered before Withdrawing

The only ones that managed to Survive were those that fled into the Bush

Ojukwu’s Biafran army Slaughtered all the Hausas they laid their hands on in the Midwest

Gen Gowon prevented the full details from being published in the interest of reconciliation and One Nigeria

Probably a more terrible mistake than the war itself, the mistake of twisted history.

I don't blame the misguided ill-informed people for trampling on the graves of those who were murdered by the Biafran Army, by protesting in Port Harcourt. I blame Gowon for forbidding accounts of the war being published after the war, but more importantly for not trying war criminals (like Col Ojeh of Degema) within the Biafran Army and holding them accountable for their inhuman and murderous actions during the war. 70 years after World War 2, we are still reminded on a daily basis the atrocities that the Nazi's committed. If Gowon had done what he was morally and duty bound to do, this matter of Biafra would have been put to rest once and for all.
By the way, in May 1968, my uncle (my mother's younger brother) was shot in his Warri street residence in Port Harcourt, his corpse butchered, his flesh sold as Biafra meat in Mile 1 market.

That same day the Nigerian Army opened up and started shelling Port Harcourt, which was ultimately liberated
Are those protesting and the other supporters of "Biafra" aware of these facts??
The war has been over these past 45 years, we are forging on as a country, setting aside our ethnocentric issues. That Ex-Biafrans have been assimilated into all spheres of our society (as they should), without any punishment meted out to the war criminals among them, doesn't give anyone the right to re-write history or bring these painful memories back.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!

I really wish Northern leaders would stop being so heartless and really invest in developing the Human Resources of the North as a way to rapidly accelerate the fortunes and progress of the region.

We all know the hate-filled ethnic group that will be unhappy when that happens I.e the ethnic group that never wish well for others and glorify in wishing misfortune on all Nigerians.

One of the major problems with northern leadership has been ignorance and seeking the easy way.

For decades, they thought and felt it was better to have NPA chairmanship and 200 job slots in the agency within 4 years than develop the region and have a hundred agencies in the level of NPA and a thousand more companies.

Times are changing though.
