there is something essentially wrong with our educational system ,it is creating job seekers and not job creators,i was actually thinking lack of capital is the problem.

How can a graduate with 6m at hand be looking for job, with that amount you should be able to make 700k to 900k monthly without stress going a business of your own.but you prefer to wake up very early every morning to beat traffic and go work before your boss ,just to be paid ones in 30 days wich they may even delay your salary some times. And your salary as entry level may be below 500k

This is bad.

The useless foreign company wronged Nigeria and it's people, yet we paid them penalty for breach of contract when according to the report, they are the one that breached the terms of the contract.

Not just that, we've been dashing the company 1.5billion naira for three years and they want the fourth year included in next year budget to pay their staffs.

Nigeria, just when you think you've seen it all.

A few weeks ago, a memo was reportedly submitted to the FCT minister seeking for about N80b for the construction of an estate, FCTA will provide land (you know how expensive land dey for Abuja), provide the infrastructure (roads and what not), provide the money (the N80b to be signed by the minister) while the developer or contractor will build and thereafter sell to the public, and still walj away with the profit. The director in charge was confidently defending the s*** to the amazement of everyone, even Wike had to retort "I have never seen something like this".

You begin to wonder if there is Akamu in place of brain in some of these guys heads.

Yesterday, it was Obj saying he never awarded the contract for Mambilla, the Minister went ahead to commit the country to 30 years of back and forth and lost opportunities to the tune of $bs.

God deliver our country, but we seriously need to standardize our contracting and procurement system, plus comprehensively deal with the civil service.

SSFeedsNigeria:
Unknown to many, Nigeria is tottering on brink of total economic collapse. However, while the South is still managing and may probably bluff its way through, the North is already doomed.

Before you call me prophet of doom, I will explain the situation in black and white.

If Tinubu's so-called reforms is bad for the South, just know it's a death sentence on the North's economy. Although, their politicians also share in the blame alongside Tinubu, whenever the story of how Northern Nigeria failed, is told in the future.

Here are the factors that indicate how Northern Nigeria is hemorrhaging to a terminal collapse:

1. Poorly executed fuel subsidy removal: when Tinubu abruptly removed fuel subsidy without first putting in place cushioning policies, it was like the forceful removal of oxygen on a patient in coma. Automatically, North's economy crashed and became both unviable and uncompetitive relative to South. ShopRite announced their closure in Kano but it's remarkable to note that they will still continue operation in the South. Kano is North's most viable industrial and commercial nexus, if businesses can't survive their now just know the entire North is doomed.

2. North's abysmal purchasing power: prior to fuel subsidy removal, North's poverty rate was already the worst in the world. Now that even Southerners have become a lot poorer and struggling, then one can only imagine the situation now in the North. When as much as 90+% of a population is deeply entrenched in multidimensional poverty, then every service sector would be badly hit. It's no surprise that ShopRite is closing down in Kano. With extremely low patronage due to extreme poverty in the area and coupled with very high diesel/fuel cost, virtually every business will run at a loss. It's not just ShopRite, every other industry, factory, business or services will continue to run at a loss until they eventually close down.

3. Why South may survive regardless; unlike the North that has no fall back position, South has several shock absorbers that will help it to pull through relative to North. Remittances, Yahoo, sports/movie/showbiz exports etc. Is now helping to boost purchasing power and patronage of local businesses. Also, fuel is relatively cheaper in South which makes it possible for businesses/industries to pull through with the little patronage they're getting.

Nigeria's future has never been this gloomy but that of North is already spiralling into a disaster.

Ok, next.

Its funny how people to whom the north and northerners are nothing more than goro chewing almajiri are developing some concern and care for the north.

Politics / Re: RIVERS state assembly: Why defect if you have a veto proof majority? by Raheeqilmaktoom: 7:12pm On Dec 14, 2023
Blue3k:
Nigerian politicians are probably the dumbest creatures. The actions of the Rivers state assembly men had no strategic value. 27 is greater than 4. More importantly, it's a veto proof majority. This means they could impose their collective agenda regardless of the governor's opinion.

Defecting is simply a symbolic gesture that accomplishes nothing that they couldn't do in their current party. If they did want to defect, it could wait until the next election. The only reason for the theatrical mass defection is to say APC controls one more houses of assembly.

Well, they've shot themselves in the foot.

Two national secretaries, with the courts involved, is that one not division

Thats no division or crisis to warrant defection.

The PDP constitution I believe should be clear about the procedure of an NWC member resigning to contest election and the conditions for having his post back in case he loses the election.

So, thats no division, all thats needed is for a lawyer to interpret and advise the party or as a strong headed person that Wike is, a court of law can do the interpretation for the party.

For a supposed tough guy, this is beyond sloppy from Wike.

If those lawmakers lose their seats, he has lost all leverage he has and likely, any relevance and importance at the centre. So, any hope for 2027 may be dashed, not to talk of his ambitions beyond that.

Good riddance I must say though.

They have a right to say "We dont that here in our land".

The constitution you keep referencing to gave constituent states the power to tinker with laws for their locailties, its why Ebonyi can choose to create Egbuge or whatever and implement anti-open grazing laws (the fulanis can also ask, why are you against us grazing our cattle in our govt houses?) and Ondo can choose to create Amotekun.

If it pains you so much that Kano is implementing laws that respect their traditions, cultures, religion and wishes of their people, please take the next bus to wherever and never look back. You wont be missed.

In a country of diverse religion and culture. For chaos not to break out, the constitution must be supreme and supercede any other regional laws. If the Nigerian constitution does not prohibit alcohol sales and consumption, no other law should do that. You cannot be enjoying proceeds (vat) from alcohol production and consumption and at the same time be destroying people's business just because they're not your tribals men. Just like in the case of Lagos, I can see the comments of some northerners here saying business men should relocate their businesses if the locals do not like their business. Many times, people have fought to disintegrate this country so that everyone will be in his own country in peace and practice whatever they believe in but it's always met with strong resistance from the government supported by the hypocritical public. Since you want us to remain in the same country, the constitution must be followed and not some regional wishes. We are being treated unfairly now, the south east. We are being targeted everywhere in Nigeria. We the young ones are not as tolerant as our elders. We have come to discover many truths. Let it be on history that we were attacked first in Lagos by the Yorubas, our business was always attacked in the north by radical islamists for some flimsy excuses. Before the biafran war started, this was how our people were being targeted and killed in the north. But the moment we said enough, revisionists have it that Igbos started the civil war. When we start , which may not even be now, no looking back until everything is avenged.

And the victimhood starts.

"We are not as tolerant as our fathers", grin and so?

The ingridient to living in harmony in a diverse community is respecting each other and knowing our boundaries, its that simple.

Cows - purely business and economic.
Alcahol - subject of religious and cultural rebuke.

Its the same problem as that of Lagos, just in another direction.

1. Kano people say they no want as its against their cultures and religion, the wise choice is to go where you are un-hindered and do your business.

2. As for the guy that said northerners are using religion to tame southerners investments, this is so funny is pathetic.
So, northerners should allow prostitutes so as not to be seen as going against southerner's investment?

If your states find eating beef and cow meat culturally and religiously intolerant, make laws to control that, and the northerners doing such businesses will find other places to ply their trade.

And this is funny coming from people that want to wreck ibo investment in Lagos cause of politics, even when these investments in most cases dont pose any threat whatsoever to you people.

3. As for the op whos lived in whatever country, they have their traditions, we have ours.
The hausa man wont go to Imo and demand (as your entitlement mentalities make you) that he observes durbar in front of government house, but other people are free to come and shove whatever they like down pther people's threat because they have a higher precedence as 'superior human beings'.

Take your busines to Delta, Hisba no go follow you there but as for Kano, their land their people, their traditions and values - their laws to make.

So is no more one Nigeria you people are fighting for?

One Nigeria means a diverse group of people living under a single country while accepting and respecting their boundaries and differences.

Kano city is an ancient town with an overwhelming muslim population of the hausa-fulani stock, the cproduction and consumption of alcahol abhorrent to them as it goes against their religious and traditional practices and teaching.

The constitution empowered them to set certain laws for the good of their city and its people and in their wissdom they banned alcahol, the wise choice would be to accept that 'Oh yeah, there are people different from me in religion, culture and life style and they are the overwhelming majority in Kano and the've banned alcahol'. If you must do that busines, take it to Aba where people see alcaholis as akin to drinking water.
