He can’t prevail. Wike May also lose in the long run but on this round one o…Fubara is a goner!

All these stooges never seem to learn. Be it Ambode, Osinbajo and now Fubara. If you ride to power on the back of a godfather, calm yourself down. Politics is different from being a technocrat. They always seem to get there and start believing their own hype or sychophants. It’s a different thing if you got there on your own merit or had a followership.

Of all the people to take on he chose to take on Wike? Wike will take both of them down than have Fubara triumph over him. That is why I say Wike May lose in the end but Fubara is going down!!!

I believe Wike's 'famed' political sagacity is just overblown way out of proportion.
His politics has always been of violence (run up to 2015 and after) and money, both of which can be matched by Sim, if he wishes to.

Amaechi almost run am street in 2019 when he manufactured a million votes in one night with an unknown party. grin

Bottomline, if Sim acts smart, he will swat Wike aside.

You cant compare Lagos APC (in the case of Ambode - which Tinubu controls through the GAC) or the presidential primaries (in the case of Osinbajo - where there are way too many inlfuences and variables) to Rivers, the gladiators are few and mostly un-aligned or guided by their own personal interests (the Abes) - plus, the anti-Wike elements, the Amaechi camp.

All eyes are on Sim and what he chooses to do.

Fubara cannot pass his budget without approval of the house. He does not control the house. He cannot spend money. If he spends money without approval of the house. he is committing an impeachable offense.

As at today there is no 2024 budget for Rivers state.

Its going to be a long winter for both sides, but with tact, the governor may prevail.

This brings me to the observation, I once read that Rivers State budget for years 2016-2018 wasnt out in the public or in other words, there was no budget for those years, guess it wasnt an impeachable offence then.

Fubara should resign!

He should know its game over already!

Why should he?

Gameover for who actually?

As Adamu Garba rightly pointed out, Wike's only saving grace right now is the FCT position, without which (or inspite of which), his own followers may desert him, classicalwhat goes around comes around.

The APC cant be claiming the moral high ground (supposed progressives and democrats) and be shifting the goal post or redefining fundamental truths everyone knows whenever it suits them.
Politics / Re: Tafawa Balewa's Letter To South Africa In April 1961 (Throwback) by Raheeqilmaktoom: 7:52pm On Dec 10, 2023
9jaRealist:

In fact, Nigeria did economic harm to itself in the course of Africa’s COLLECTIVE struggle for South African liberation - expelling/nationalizing UK and US businesses in Nigeria (Barclays, Standard, Chase, BP, Esso, etc.), blocking direct investment into a Nigeria by several Western companies doing business in Apartheid South Africa, and refusing to sell crude oil to or trade with nations deemed friendly with the Apartheid regime. All of these had a long-lasting (and some would argue, probably still has a) residual effect on the Nigerian economy.

This was in addition to military and non-military support for the ANC and other freedom fighters, material support in form of cash and supplies (including the Southern African Relief Fund, which mandated the deduction of a certain percentage of the wages/earnings of every working Nigerian towards the acquisition/distribution of relief material/supplies to South African exiles), educational and capacity-building support in the form of university scholarships and so on, diplomatic support in the form of the standing UN Committee Against Apartheid that was championed and chaired throughout its existence (bar a couple of years) by Nigeria, as well as accommodating South African exiles in Nigeria (including Thambo Mbeki and, in the initial days of the anti-Apartheid struggle, the late great Madiba Nelson Mandela).

Even though these events occurred well before my time, I do not believe that Nigeria did it with any expectation of reciprocity, but rather for what Nigerians believed was their “manifest destiny” (with a population at the time that amounted to 1 in every 4 Africans and 1 in about every 5 black persons being Nigerian) underpinned by a philosophy that injustice and oppression of black people anywhere is the oppression of all of us. That’s why Nigeria paid the salaries of Antiguan civil servants in the West Indies, endowed HBCUs in the US, supplied crude oil to several African nations at a significant price discount, and donated to minority communities after the Brixton Riots in the UK, among others.

So, you start what you cannot finish? Google is not the one that mentioned those names in your comment. A sensible and sincere person will answer my question without directing me to Google unless I doubt the answer.

Scholars generally classify ignorant people ino 2 classes: the ignorant person that knows he is ignorant i.e does not have sufficient knowledge of the topic in contention, and so is open to getting better information than one in his possession and the ignorant person that does not know that he does not have the knowledge or information in contention i.e ignorance coupled with arrogance.

The first is OK as we all belong in that class on many topics, the second is dangerous and should you meet such a person, flee from their presence for his ignorance is darker than the darkness of the night as no good comes out them.

Take your pick of the class you belong to - whoever comes across this will have a class to put you in.

Politics / Re: January 15 Coup Was Not An Igbo Coup Check Out What This Man Said Before He Died by Raheeqilmaktoom: 11:40am On Dec 10, 2023
BitterTruth0001:

1. I don’t know about Akintola but that Sardauna was a bad man.

2. I watched African high school debates from the 1950s/1960s organized by the British and one 16 year old boy from the north who was representing Nigeria was boldly talking about how Africa belongs to Islam. Saying white people should leave Africa

At the time , the middle belt was referred to as pagan provinces by both the northern Muslims and southern Christians as they were mostly practitioners of traditional religions. I believe that Jihad would’ve been unleashed on them eventually if this guys didn’t step up

Unfortunately igbos bore the brunt of the whole thing . And the Yorubas knowingly or unknowingly joined hands with the North to consolidate the fallacy that is Nigeria

What I don’t understand is why Awolowo didn’t take advantage of the situation then to secede . He was the one who suggested inserting a secession clause but Azikiwie and Balewa kicked against it. So when the chance came and Biafra seceded , why didn’t Awolowo seize that opportunity and take the Wester region and federal capital Lagos and leave ? The north would have not been able to fight on two fronts .

3. Was it that Awolowo’s hatred for the igbos was greater than his desire for the establishment of a yoruba nation ? So he decided to stay back to fight and punish us . I don’t know

But according to recently declassified memo from Henry Kissinger, US Secretary of State under JFK, the only uniting factor in Nigeria that time was the common hatred of igbos . If not this , I don’t see any other reason why Awo stayed back

1. What makes him on? Cause you said so?
2. A link to video, and how does that relate to the Sardauna?
3. Nations and people do whats in their best interests and what they believe is right, Awo did that.
If the Ibo nation then, felt they are better off outside of Nigeria, doesnt make it same for the Yoruba nation.

Count your losses and move on.

I'd rather err on the side of caution. Buhari was more opposition friendly. In 2019, wike could have lost reelection but for buharis aloofness. Tinubu, i bet you, wont stand aloof. Putting himself in open opposition is what Fubara cant risk now. Its a tactical cold war. The easiest way to weaken wike is to get close to pbat while treating wikes fckup at the local level because all politics is local.

This is working with the assumption that there is value to be gained by aligning with BAT.

First, the governor hold the aces, he is favored and has more influence than either the President or Wike.

Second, Sim's fight with Wike might see him aligning with Anti-Wike elements from within and oustide Rivers, in their numbers, they will come for him and he cant stand them. Wike's politics have been of money and violence, both are being taken away from him

Besides, Buhari demystified the so-called Federal power/might, any high-handedness by Wike or Fg will see the opposition converging - across board, thats a worse outcome for BAT than losing Rivers.

All talks of peace in this fight is just freezing the conflict as you stated, both parties are working behind the scenes and the governor would be damned if he talks any peace talk serious, its a smokescreen.

Besides, can BAT be trusted by the governor? Going behind Wike's own back to make deals with his suposed enemy? This is what lead to the current situation in Rivers APC.

He actually needs pbat. Pdp is a lot weaker. Some of the ND govs are only pdp in nomenclature. If he openly goes against pbat, he'd have a stronger force than wike to contend with. To weaken wike, thats his only option to his political self preservation.

Pdp is quite OK, it only needs a stronger leader in the region. Besides, its one of the places the party entrenched itself, so it still has tons of foot soldiers.

Going against BAT wont set him up against any stronger force, which stronger force sef?

The man holds the ace if he chooses to act, many factors at play that he has more direct influence over than someone in Abuja.

Its even the fact that the man is calm that we are still in this chapter, if he were Wike re-incarnate, it would have been over the past month.

Wike will lose out in this fight. Sitting govs are enormously powerful. What fubara has to do is to create a corridor of constant communications with Mr President and swear his loyalty on the life of his children. Pbat is a very smart politician. He understands this game very well. Fubara ought not to hesitate in empowering several among wikes ethnicity. He should use them to fight him dirty from his home stead because wike fights dirty too. We all know how weak a divided house can be. No matter how you see it fubara has the aces.

The gov doesn't need PBAT, it's the other way round.

He is better off bringing any person Anti-Wike within and outside Rivers closer to him, and they are in multitudes.

Sentiments aside, for "Nigeria govt" to stand as his "guarantor", shows they're also benefitting from his empire which has stood the test of time.

One major business lesson to learn from Dangote regarding this refinery is finding an enormous economic problem and making it your own.

Govts in Nigeria have been singing of refineries since the 70s and 80s along with all the benefits the country stands to gain, but the govts couldn't provide them.

It got to the point that the country sinks or swims on the need for a refinery. The govt was r ady to give an arm and a leg to ensure that the refinery comes to life as so many things, the govts own stability rests on the refinery coming to life and working optimally.

Oloye Akin Alabi in his book - small business, big money puts it this, 'pray to have a starving markrt'. The country is a starving market for crude products and Dangote cracked the code, he's paid his dues.

I saw this coming a few years ago. I invited the Nordic founder of a leisure booking company to come and speak to a group of young founders. What you said above was exactly what he warned them about. Nigerians have hacked fund raising but they have not hacked character and momentum hacking.

Unfortunately we are seeing more and more of the "owambe" "pepper dem" mentality in the founder world. Founders are no longer doing "lean" They are doing optics. In a society where broke shaming is a major catalyst of "success" this is inevitable.

Right now it's a fashion trend, go into tech, dread and color your hair, put on lipgloss as a guy, wear shorts and do a day in the life of a software engineer, get an idea and make it startup, snap pictures and raise series A, B and C.

The so-called investors have more money than sense, hence the reason they invest in 'tech' companies that are ultimately doomed to fail.

Many of these so-called tech companies have nothing more than brightly coloured offices, a few computers/laptops and a half-baked, bound-to- fail idea that they wax lyrics around and sell to investors as a viable business.

Many of these founders have no tangible business or life experience - yet, misguided investors will give them money.

It is no surprise over 95% of them fail.

This particular company raised $2m less than a year ago, yet they're already out of business. No doubt the founders took very good care of themselves and left the naive investors licking their wounds.

Without getting their fundamentals right, they are dreaming of expanding to east Africa.

These days when you start ups, you just find a chair and sit and wait for the bubble to bust.

This could have been a feature of any of the major fintechs, but a startup has to be woven and raise $2m for PowerPoint.
