Brotherman, if Obasanjo as the then President saw the need to come out publicly to address the issue in a bid to clear the air, Atiku Abubakar as the then Vice President is equally expected to do same. There's absolutely nothing wrong in me postulating that he has questions to answer.

Everyone in Nigeria is innocent until otherwise proven. I haven't roped Atiku into anything. As the sitting Vice President of the country during the period this heinous fraud was perpetuated, Atiku should equally answer questions and no amount of sentiments should wash that away!

See pesin wey dey question another ones thinking capacity. grin

If Nigeria existed as a nation "under normal circumstances", you will be in the right place to ask these questions.

But where corruption has always been celebrated and promoted like a national virtue, are you trying to pretend that you do not know a VP can circumvent his principal and issue approvals to contracts? Or should we begin to list the atrocities Atiku committed as a VP to Obasanjo?

For you to even begin to hold a torch to this argument, having existed in this same country, puts your reasoning ability under scrutiny.

Yours definitely.

You seem to be staying in the villa, or used to stay in the villa to know the atrocities Atiku committed first hand that you have to rope him in even in issue that has no direct relationship with him.

I find it difficult to understand how of all conlusions you can make, bringing in a third party from a above report stands to logic.

What Obj said is he never gave approval (even asked he person to stand down his proposal), the onus is now on the person to prove that he indeed got PRESIDENTIAL APPROVAL NEEDED for such project or he takes the fall, since it will be assumed that he acted unilaterally when he holds no such power.

2. Going by your logic, we can append any failure in policy and administration to that one supposed crooked fela even without any evidence linking him to it.

Obasanjo has never been known to be a man who loses administrative control of the structures under him. This man is over 80years old, but still lucidly runs his existing businesses and farms.

If going by this his rebuttal, a Minister had no unilateral authority to award contracts beyond the 25million naira valuation, and if he didn't give the approval for this one, then more questions should be asked and me thinks Atiku Abubakar should answer some of these questions.

After all, we all know the infamous roles Atiku has played during his days as Vice President, which have significantly impacted our electricity, negatively.

Sometimes, no matter how much I try to stay away from waste of time I end up getting sucked back in.

If as a Minister, your overall boss orders you to stand down on something and even withheld his approval for a proposal, how can a vice president overwrite that?

What powers does a VP has to order a Minister to award a contract against his Boss' orders a day after FEC?

Sometimes, simple reasoning look to be beyond certain people. smh.

The truth, no matter how long it takes, cannot be concealed forever.

Amidst the high level of banditry and insecurity, the same people chanting ”crude oyel is for Nigeria but gold is only for the North” still found their way to Zamfara’s gold and are planning to invite other southern leaders to join the party up North.

Thousands of Nigerians, very smart individuals have given up some ambitions due to circumstances (not in a way justifying Nigeria's limiting factors) when it could have been much easier for them to get guns and rob people, commit fraud or every other illegality just to answer chief, senior man and odogwu.

Another annoying thing is his blaming Nigeria, "I am ashamed of being a Nigerian", TF he wants the country to do for him? Invade Thailand and demand that this brother should be allowed to sell drugs afterall he has ambitions to chase?

This guy is justifying the evil he does - for his future as he said, while jeopardising the life and futures of thousands.

The kidnapper should kidnap because he has to drive a corolla, the murderer should kill because he has to wear gucci and the thief has to steal because the survival of his larger than life image is more important than the decades of hardwork from person he is stealing from.

It seems we need more mental institutions in Nigeria than we care to have.

A private organization with government money in it sir. And even if, it's a reputable organization of international standard and such a act should not be seen in there. You grab now?

This is funny.

The Nigerian government invested $2b into a $19b refinery? What does that make it? A minor investor.
The refinery is therefore still under the operational and mangerial oversight of Dangote group as the major shareholder.

Someone just posted NLNG stuff above, walk to Bonny and demand that you be given a job there, FG holds 49% stake.

By the way, even in NLNG, the FG has little say on operational matters, talkless Dangote.

2. The company may have a policy to source for candidates from a certain part of the country for reasons best known to them or to address certain deficiencies, companies do that all day every day, in every zone in Nigeria, banks, FMCG, etc

3. Besides, what tells you that this is the only recruiting process they will undertake?
Read recently that they have a number of engineers that have been in training for the past 9 and above months? Do you mind finding out about them? Do you know what plans the company has for the future?

Infact arguing with you is not Worth it .

Move on before you look for who you will accuse of blasphemy

Looks to me you've got comprehension problems.

Your post that I first quoted displayed obvious bigotry, and thats why I called you out.

Paraphrasing it : "Vulture, in SW holds spritual or traditional significance, in the SE seen as outcast yet northerners are eating this unacceptable creature", this was similar to what you said.

As a northerner, like I said earlier, all animals you mentioned arent worth looking at with 2 eyes, nevertheless, this thread wont have gotten my presence save for your obvious show of disdain over an unfounded information you are ascribing northerners, whom you clearly know nothing about.

2. Talk of accusing you of blasphemy, you wont need worry yourself only if you can make a statement and stand by it.

Take a sample of 100 northern muslims as you said, how many drink? Less than 7 but you are using the 7 to reach a conlusion for the 100. Obvious flaw in logic.

Accept the mistake, its no big deal. Shikenan.

Number 13 Vulture

There is a belief that vultures are evil birds. In the southwest, vultures are seen as sacred in traditional spirituality. In the south east, the bird is vowed as unclean and unacceptable.
But I was shocked when I heard that this unacceptable specie of bird is eaten by the Northerners.

Yes

Lol,

Everything you mentioned from the 1st page to this is despicable to most northerners - snail? frog FGS? Rat WTF?. Even grasshopper is avoided by most people.

And no, vulture is not eaten, the people who can eat a vulture are the ones that can eat a frog or rat.

Education / Re: Differences In American And Uk/nigerian Grading Systems by Raheeqilmaktoom: 5:29pm On Aug 12, 2023
So. . .I was just wandering on the internet and found this page

https://www.econjobrumors.com/topic/us-vs-uk-grading
And I learned a lot.

I used to be amazed by Americans that get straight A's = 90% in all subjects until I learned about the conversion. Over here we use the UK grading system where A's start from 70% and the best students struggle soooo hard to get them. In the UK they don't use letters for grades.

The grading equivalents are:
UK US Nigeria
70-100 A A
65-69 A- B
60-64 B+ (still B)
50-59 B C
45-49 C+ D
40-44 C F
0-39 F F

I was already worried about how I was possibly going to score 90% and above in all courses in case I moved to the US for my master's degree.

Someone on the thread posted:

"70% in us gets you nothing, might even lose your scholarship
70% in the uk gets you first class honors and a ticket into oxford"

So basically if you graduate with first class honors over here, it means your average grade throughout your period of study was an A by US standards (AKA their 90% and above).

First class - A
Second Class Upper - B+ to A-
Second Class Lower - B
Third Class - C+
Pass - C

Also, in the UK most students that get A's score between 70 - 80%, especially at undergraduate/masters level. Someone mentioned that her professor (in the UK) had never had any student score above 80% before.

I also learned that in the US there's more emphasis on "breadth" than depth, that is, taking a variety of subjects/course that are completely unrelated to your field. How you could probably have no idea what degree you're going to graduate with until maybe you're done with your first year. Like, you just keep taking courses from different places all over the universities and then later on you define your 'major' based on the courses you've done and where your interests lie. You could start Universities wanting to be an Engineer and end up graduating with a degree in Gender Studies.

Over here, as we all know, when you apply to a university you also apply to a college within the university. (College of Engineering, College of Medical Sciences, etc) and you mainly take specialized courses only with maybe a few general courses in your first year.

There's also the thing about how a lot of different
daily or weekly activities contribute to your grade as opposed to one test and one exam in a whole semester over here. (The exam at the end of the semester accounting for 70% of your overall grade, sometimes its the only exam and accounts for everything).

If anyone has anything else to add please share,

cc Mynd44 Lalasticlala

Great piece.

Some of us have had to deal with the confusion that comes with studying in various jurisdictions and how we may make it in.

Some of Nigeria's asset runs through Niger republic. The $25 billion Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline runs through that country.

The military could destroy the pipeline, or the islamist celebrating the exit of France after the coup could take over the pipeline and use it for blackmail purposes. The french military had been helping the Niger republic army to hold back the jihadist trying to dominate the country.

The Nigeria-Morocco pipeline has nothing to do with Niger, even the Trans-Sahara gas pipeline has been put on hold for a very long time, it was Buhari that tried reviving it but there is nothing concrete regarding it.

Stop with the lies please.

Why do Nigerians suddenly care about spreading freedom and democracy? Is it because they're afraid of their military? Why is coup in Niger the inspiration for them overthrow the government when they ignored the dictorship all over west Africa the past 20 years.

Is it because France doesn't like these Coupist? It's also interesting the French don't care freedom in Cameroon. Should Niger Republic conduct fake elections so all the democracy livers can relax?

Is it because they're in ecowas? Niger could be suspended from the block. Is it because Nigeria is afraid they will cancel the Trans-Saharan gas pipeline? Did the new government make any such announcements? Is there an option of going around or negotiating with them.

The president isnt concerned about Democracy in Niger, he is only afraid of military rule in Niger as it is closer to home and may provide impetus for something similar on local grounds, thats what all the noise is about.
