Okay, this is awesome ![]() The built in Network Manager connected to the Internet with my Nokia E71, sweet ![]() When I selected my country during the setup, it had all major careers listed [list][li]MTN[/li] [li]Zain[/li] [li]Glo NG[/li][/list] -[n3rve] |
I feel, infact I know that we should not choose to be with a person merely because of love. Understanding and compatibility play a key role in a happy married life. If you have a great comfort level with someone,you are bound to love that person and hence be happy. Poster, you need to understand that love is not instantaneous. It is a seed that grows over time, when two people commit to each other the goal of becoming one person. A symbiotic relationship. From him the woman draws strength and logic. From her, the man draws emotion and compassion. This is not something that happens overnight, or even in a few months. It can take years, provided the right beginnings are met. In your case, I can't say the right beginnings were met, but you can always try to fix things, if not, a divorce may be the only way out. I feel sorry for you ![]() |
wanville:Simple, grab a copy of iTunes http://www.apple.com/itunes/ Add songs from your PC to the library, create a playlist of the songs you want and sync them. What kind of iPod did you get? -[n3rve] |
@4llerbe, I think you got the wrong fellow ![]() bigrovar:Then that's great. I'm in Abuja so I'll drive towards the airport one of these days to see you ![]() I tried with the built in Network Manager, that didn't work with my Nokia E71 on Jaunty, however, I tried another Linux distro 'Arch' various similarities with ForeSight and it was a 1-click thing but the OS is a bit empty for me. BlueMan, from what I've read, sounds good so I'll test that when I can get internet connection on ubuntu. Regarding the 3G limitation, I understand your concerns, it's a big PITA at the moment. However, there's this YourFreedom thing, not sure if you can run it under wine, cedega or any of it's alternatives, might be possible to connect that using MTN and initiate torrents making them use 127.0.0.1(localhost):8080, i.e connecting the torrent application to the internet via the proxy but using a direct connection to the internet for your browser to avoid the weighty 'cut-down' the YourFreedom thing brings into play or even a virtual you know. Sorry about the silly restrictions at work, although I understand the concerns, torrents just suck up every ounce of bandwidth :-/ The routers at my former office were set up to block them as well or anything originating from the systems to initiate a P2P connection. To bypass that I use some freeware that tunnels the data over HTTP (port 80), the forwarding technique effectively bypasses firewall restriction(s). I'll definitely see you before going back to school so we'd look into these things more ![]() |
(Shoutout: Hey Bigbrovar, wassup?) Regarding 3G, I'll offer my opinions based on those I've tested (MTN and GLO). I tested both in Abuja. Glo is far too unstable for me, apparently I was helping them 'beta' test the package, the connection turns out to be pretty slow even with decent weather conditions, I have to say it was a bit disappointing after all the noise they made ![]() MTN is by far the best IMO, connection springs up to about 300KBps at night (in Abuja), but with that type of speed, you'd be tempted to initiate multiple downloads which will, in no time exhaust the allowed 3GB limit. I found myself spending above N40,000 (12GB) in a month. I feel our local carriers are being unfair with all these limitations ![]() ETA: Being a fellow Linux user, how do you intend to use the phone as a modem? I've been unable to accomplish this, sadly. So I currently dual boot with Windows 7 (taking that down soon to replace with Vista). However, on both Windows operating systems (Vista and W7), I can use my phone (Nokia E71) as a modem, but trying to make this work on Ubuntu jaunty Jackalope has been a PITA. |
NAIJAVOICE:Why ask when you have http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubuntu ? @BigBrovar; What's the name of the app u use to build those custom ubuntu application CDs? was it k3b or something? |

As earlier stated, get your ISP to look into the issue. It's hard to give instructions as I don't know what your setup is like, and if you're using just a laptop, a router isn't really needed so I doubt you have one, but if you do, you could secure the network with a bit of search ![]() |
saxywale:It's harder to give a decent opinion of the product since you haven't tested both builds, however, I believe both have decent build quality and use quality parts. |
Nyc getn tu talk 2u again, your awesome voice seals your sweetness, take care hun ![]() |

Simply uninstall it and purchase a legitimate copy of Kapersky, it's around 6k but be rest assured you're safe when u get it. ![]() -[n3rve] |
tonysmart:It seems like both AntiVirus applications are not effective, probably not up to date and they're not picking viruses, which is why you have the control panel and the task manager disabled, altough, the antivirus apps may have gotten rid of those threats but didn't unlock the task manager as well as the control panel and other things. Enabling those is not much of an issue, simply run gpedit.msc and they'd be options to enable / disable all those things, can't be precise now, TwoTwo:I don't see why any of those applications shouldn't be active and deleting viruses, perhaps, they're not legitimate copies or are not up to date. If you want to use another product, simply uninstall the current AV, grab a copy of avast off the internet and run the setup script. However, keep in mind that a free product may not be as active as the pro editions and such. Now, finally, always ensure you have just one antivirus running on your PC, what viruses / malware apps do is search for your files and infect them whereas antiviruses search the same files to heal them, in a situation where Norton notices that Avast is searching the system, the OS is at a lost as to why it is doing that and tries to get rid of it whereas the other av app tries to do the same, so you put the system under much work load which slows it down, etc. I wish you luck getting that fixed, I also suggest you get a reliable standard antivirus, I just bought Kapersky Internet Security 2009 for N7,000 and it's been working fine, running virus free ![]() -[n3rve] |
[me=Ralvy]likes this kinda stuff[/me] Good one ![]() |
Unfortunately, Nairaland doesn't have any module that will enable users stream YouTube videos (I think). You can simply post the URLs here and we'd sure get to them ![]() |
Can't beat the addiction, SMF Rules ![]() It strives to use minimum server resources, has a butt load of modifications / themes, an awesome support community (yeah we do our job ) and is so simple like the name implies, Go SMF ![]() |
Your topic says 'Install on Ubuntu', You install VirtualBox and have XP run in a virtual drive inside ubuntu, although, they may be performance issues depending on your hardware. Alternatively, you can install Xp and Ubuntu side by side (dual boot). More info at ubuntunigeria. Note that if you proceed installing XP as normal, a new master boot record will be written. -[n3rve] |
'yo, just checking ![]() -[n3rve] |
You're experiencing a similar issue with the thread starter, The XP Installation CD you're using doesn't have the SATA drivers embedded. One of the links I posted should help you resolve that issue ![]() -[n3rve] |
