i am happy there are people who have been following the game long before papilo went down to highbury, actually my official arsenal game as a commite follower was during the cup winners final against real zaragoza in 1995 which we lost 2-1 with the morocan born spanish player nayim scoring from almost the centre circle if i can recollect, that day i was baptised a gunner. i have a magazine ( shoot) from 1979 which featured charlie nicolas there and then because of the superlatives i was entralled. i have beign a gunner for 12 years now and i will be 30 come july 30th. anyone that says there is no post kanu gunner should bite the dust. thanks for the thread email andy123ng@yahoo.com for more info or call 08069194675 lets talk |
its not really a bad thing to support a team, but the way chelsea fans are going about it is so annoying. last nite during the aston villa v arsenal game a guy sittin next to me at the pub kept shouting insults at arsena wenger and even claimed he was a pig? imagine, he made so much noise about chelsea and i asked him if he really loved football or he was all about chelsea which he answered in the affirmative, he kept shouting i could hardly keep up with the commentary, imagine a chelsea fan at an arsenal game and making or trading insults, i now asked him how much he new about the blues and he said he was an expert, asked who peter kenyon was and he could not but stammer, i apologised to him for taking the trouble to banter with him BECAUSE 90% OF CHELSEA FANS HARDLY KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE TEAM BUT MAKE SO MUCH NOISE ABOUT AS IF THEY ARE GOD AND WE ARE ALL FOOLS, SHOW SOME RESPECT PLS, GUNNERS, RED DEVILS AND LIVERPOOL HAVE BEEN THERE DONE THAT. i also pray romans divorce will not make the cah flow cease pray for chelsea, we still need the competition though |

i have never really thiught of chelsea as worth yarning about, with all the cash spent over the years if he didnt win the leauge then i would think he is not a coach imagine arsene wenger or sir alex with all that cash to burn, damn chelsea will be no where, i think the money that works for them will bring the same anger that is pervading mourinho and abramovich, imagine spending all the cash and no champions league win. i pray that mourinho wins the ecl so that his job will be secured |

It is amazing how one seemingly-innocuous tug of a shirt can spark such a heap of trouble and completely change the thinking of what had been a wonderful Carling Cup final. Up until Kolo Toure's over-reaction to Mikel Jon Obi's misdemeanour, Chelsea and Arsenal had served up a feast of football that was a fitting finale for what could be the last major cup final to be held in Cardiff's magnificent Millennium Stadium. It was one of the best games I've ever had the privilege to watch. Arsenal's much-hyped young Gunners had delivered on the big stage, with a mind-bogglingly impressive display of free-flowing football that left the fans and Chelsea's midfield breathless. 606 VIEW Great game, shame about the journey, James Clarke - BBC News 606: Have your say Their pace and movement was a joy to behold and even the staunchest of Blues could not fail to admire their quality, typified by Theo Walcott's slick opener. Chelsea started slowly and with Didier Drogba and Andriy Shevchenko struggling to keep their feet on the greasy surface for most of the first 15 minutes, Jose Mourinho's men couldn't get a foothold in the game. But the champions battled back with a spirit and togetherness and more than a little bit of quality of their own to prove the team is still a strong unit even if the boardroom and manager are not. Manager Jose Mourinho's parting shot after guiding his side to their fifth trophy in two-and-a-half years was a telling one. Mourinho has now won five domestic trophies in his time at Chelsea "The fans have been fantastic to me," he said. "We have known some very happy moments together and the players have been fantastic too." And the board? "I have a contract until 2010 so they must be happy with me too," he said, but surely he should know? Drogba's equaliser - fractionally onside or not - was scarcely deserved and Arsenal could and should have wrapped things up long before the Ivorian's glorious headed winner - his 28th goal of a wonderful season. Wenger was certainly in no doubt: "We had chances to have won the game and didn't do it and we should have," he said. "We had three or four clear opportunities but we lost our nerves with seven minutes to go." That was when Toure reacted to Mikel's annoying shirt pull as if someone had threatened to kill his family. 606: DEBATE The melee wasn't great to see but neither was it a disgrace to football RC 606: Have your say Both teams waded in and in the complete chaos that followed, three players were sent off, both managers came running on to the pitch trying to restore order and any hope of the game being the main talking point vanished. That was a shame because the game deserved more. But it was still a great final. Those poor souls who had to turn back halfway through a soul-destroying and ultimately pointless journey along the M4 may disagree, but not because of the football. News: Train problems hold up 2,000 fans Hundreds of supporters arrived late for the game because of the train chaos and the wisdom of sending 70,000 fans on the trek from London will once again be questioned. The queues, cancellations and delays at Cardiff Central after the match were a nightmare and thousands endured a miserable end to their day. Chelsea were thrilled with their victory and the players danced and jigged their way around the blue end of Cardiff. It may only be the Carling Cup but it clearly meant a lot and Mourinho had plenty to smile about. Petr Cech's return gives them genuine hope of success in any or all of the three competitions they are still competing in, Lassana Diarra gave another accomplished performance at right-back and Mikel and Arjen Robben both shone after coming on. And thankfully John Terry recovered from the sickening accidental kick to the head he suffered in the second half to return from hospital in time to join in the celebrations. Walcott slotted his first Gunners goal more than a year after joining Wenger too had a great deal to celebrate despite the defeat. Walcott - England's most hyped player since Michael Owen - scored a fabulous goal and despite his tender years, he is still just 17 remember, proved he has the ability and temperament to deliver when it matters. Wenger felt it was time for Walcott to prove his worth and he did that with a scintillating display in Arsenal's midfield quartet. "It was important to show a very good performance. He did that and scored a great goal too," said the Frenchman. And he had no regrets about his decision to play his youngsters: "I had a vision for this competition and I was committed to it - I have no regrets." Hopefully Toure has a few. |

i am an arsenal fan for about twelve years (yes) i fell in love with the club during the 1995 uefa cup winners cup final with real zaragoza.hen there was no dstv, we had to struggle to pay 50 naira, then i was 18 years old and a football nut. then all i had were friends that were rossonerri, nezaruzzi, red devils, or at worst from ajax amsterdam, we use to have wondeful conversatios, but now, we have chelsea fans screaming obsenities at us and they know little or nothing abut the club, who is peter osgood, they do not know, how about ed de goey or bjorn goldbaek, still they make so much noise that we cannot breathe, i know onlyone true chelsea fan allmy life, the rest are decampees, so pls we should advise them to learn all they can about club instead of making noise, u can send me questions or meet me online to ascertianmy football involvement. those of you around jos and bauchi might know me on the saturday sportshow "sportsextra"on nta. |
