Ronaldo scored several important knockout goals on the way to the final, including 2 equalisers against Hungary, and a semifinal goal against Wales.

He would surely have scored a hattrick against France if that fat thug from the banliues of Marseille did not assault him greviously on the pitch.

Ronaldo walked so that Eder could fly. His president is black and his lambo is green.

Messi meanwhile has not scored a knockout goal for his country in SEVEN competitions

That's why Portugal named an airport after their national hero, while the Real Argentines in Buenos Aires think Messi is a fake Togolese, like Adebayor

You said Ronaldo scored SEVERAL important knockout goals... then you mentioned only one knockout goal. What happened to the others? Did they disappear like Ronaldo in finals for Portugal?

you said he would have scored hat-trick in the finals against France? Is it the same hat-trick he couldn't score against "almighty" Iceland?

And resorting to lies to argue your point is really desperate... How can you say Messi has not scored in knockout stages for Argentina. Have you forgotten the beautiful free kick against USA? Well, it's understandable, people try to forget traumatic experiences....

Regarding the airport, Nigeria named it's airport after Muritala Mohammed, he must be greater than Franklin Roosevelt...

Don't worry, Ronaldo can keep the airport name, Messi will keep the ballon d'or, golden boots and the GOAT status

You said Messi is in the same league as Ghandi.

Ghandi used to run around wearing pant and slippers to fight for his country men.

He led his country men to boycott imported wears and focus on locally produced fabric.

Ghandi was not running around parading his multiple individual awards...he was championing the political equivalent of international trophies.

Every W he go was a W for India

Same as Jesus Christ who died for our sons

Same as Ororo who brought two trophies to a previously trophiless Nation.

Messi is the equivalent of Deontay Wilder who was beaten black and Blue in Black History Month. He could not even rep for his People.

Ororo is the gypsy king, repping his people wherever he goes and winning for them.

In biblical terms, Ororo is King David, Messi is Onan

Ronaldo is not Ghandi in this scenario.... Eder is...

Eder was the one that delivered for Portugal when it mattered most...

Eder is Ghandi and Ronaldo is the guy that was hailing Ghandi from the sidelines

When Madrid lost 1 vs 3 to Juventus only to qualify at the end, was it in anyway significant or did it mean they were useless?

The point is simple, in a league game, you play for points, in a knockout competition you play to qualify...

If Liverpool wins the return leg at Anfield, will all you're saying now make any sense to you?

Even if Liverpool end up qualifying, it doesn't change the fact that over 90 minutes they were bested by the first la liga team they met...

All the other epl teams had the same opportunity to do the same but fell short

If the EPL is garbage and the UCL is the standard, how come all the teams in the garbage league made it to the round of 16...Spurs,Chelsea and Manchester City are in the UCL round of 16 just like Spain has Madrid, Atletico, Barca and Valencia but no, the EPL is garbage whilst La Liga is the best...Some jokes write themselves.

Out of 32 teams, 16 teams qualified for the round of 16... Qualifying for the round of 16 is not a big deal at all...

He does not have to wait till they have qualified... This was a victory over 90 minutes. Something all the epl clubs have failed to achieve for months..

I think he's playing well.

I do not think something's wrong with him;

I think he's only having bad luck with scoring,
Something we've seen before with Messi.

But he will overcome like he always does.

There is some indication Messi has a problem with his thigh and it has affected his shooting.

If Suarez was available, Messi would have probably taken time off to treat the thigh... but the squad is already thin as it is...

Yes.. let's talk about Argentina

Highest Goal scorer in Argentina's history

Highest Assists ever

Joint highest goal scorer in South American qualifiers

golden Ball in multiple tournaments.

Everything Ronaldo has done FOR his country Messi has done for his....

Messi has not scored in final... neither has Ronaldo... The difference between their international careers is luck.

Barcelona was already a big team before messi joined but Madrid, Man Utd and Juventus were minnows, right?

As at the time messi entered the first team, Barca had 16 La liga titles and 1 UCL trophy. Right now Barca has 26 La liga titles and 5 UCL trophies... And he's not done yet....

Balon D' Or ba popularity contest. Sorry if i dont join you in hyping it.

U're already hyping the competition again.
We've been here since 2014. We'll see how Argentina do in the next Copa.

You're just grappling at straws here...

If ballon d'or was not a popularity contest but given to the actual best player every year Messing would have nothing less than 8....

Statistically, he's been the best over the last 10 years, no one even comes close...

If anybody benefited from popularity contest then it was Ronaldo.... He played in the most popular league, had the media machinery of both Madrid and Mendez, the most successful agent.. Not too mention the fact that he speaks English and has the body of a model....

The fact that messi is outshining him inspite of all the above shows that they were never close in the first place...

So playing with Barcelona for over 20 years is what??

And is he the only player to play with these richest teams?

That's how you clownlona fans downgrade Pele's achievement too

Playing for Barcelona for over 20 yearsis loyalty...

He could have left Barca to another team and be probably paid three times what he's paid at Barca ....

Messi left his comfort zone at 13 years of age to another continent and converted Barca to his new comfort zone.... That's GOAT stuff

Yes, messi and maradona have/had the same roles... Maradona formed an attacking trident with bruno and caceres, the same way messi formed one with neymar and suarez...

Maradona was the creative fulcrum of the teams he was in, same with Messi... the only difference is messi is a prolific goalscorer...

National level there is no May be. Maradonna has a god status in Argentina.

Club level Messi has always enjoyed the luxury of playing with world class players all through his career in a dominant team and in an era that favours attackers. Is winning trophies with the strongest team in a two team league more impressive than what Maradonna did at Napoli? Winning Serie A with Napoli at that time trumps anything Messi has done at club level. If the roles were reversed and Messi had to play in the 80's and early 90's Serie A with Napoli, do you think he could carry them to any title? Maradonna carried a Napoli side that finished 2 spots above relegation the season before he joined to 2 league titles and two 2nd place finish. This was when Serie A was like the Premier league and La Liga Combined. Club level Maradonna is still ahead.

Not only is the logic in this comment questionable, it;s even replete with lies and inaccuracies...

Maradona got to Napoli in 1984, they didn't win the scudetto until 1987...

Napoli actually even broke the world transfer record for him... so obviously they had the money to buy good players which they did with Bruno Gardiano and Careca... Also good players...

The same barca you claim is responsible for messi's success signed maradona and he didnt produce anything close to what messi has given Barca.

Maradona and Messi play virtually the same roles for their teams, yet while maradona only has about 300 goals, messi has doubled that and still counting....

Go to bed.

You're typing off point.

The statement you made was that the football world opinion is what matters. So last year when it collectively said Messi was not in the top 3 and you had a problem with that, you were just being a petty two-faced hypocrite.

And since I have to explain it to you clearly, it means whatever you have to say about the awards is irrelevant because your opinion changes whenever the recipient is not Messi.

Whether I hold a gun or you hold a gun, it's a gun. It is not a gun in my hand, then magically becomes a garri turning stick in your hand.

I'm not surprised you're having difficulty understanding this very simple explanation. Because it's not your fault. E pass you.

Even if you tried to understand it, your brain go knock. So don't bother yourself. Jor go to bed. Kpele!

#dazall

-Lord

God! You're daft.

So you cant see that what you are criticizing messi fans for is the exact same thing you're doing. All the years that Ronaldo won it, you celebrated it and applauded the decision to give Ronaldo, now suddenly the award is crap and fraudulent.

You're speaking with both sides of your mouth and no side of your brain.

Na only 2 years, if that, nai e use tk senior Messi.

And Messi went from La Masia to main team. CR7 had to go from Andorinha to Nacional to Sporting to Man U; sat on the bench for several years; before he conveniently blew up in the exact same year as Messi.

If he had the same path as Messi, guy would definitely have 10 Balon D'Ors today. It's a marvel he's still performing when he should be tapering off into obscurity.

Again as I said, he sees Messi as a nuisance.

-Lord

Was Messi born into la masia? NO. He had to be good enough at 13 years old to make barca sign him and even pay for his treatment.

Messi changed not just countries but continents at just 13 years old but Ronaldo stayed at his home country till around 17 years when he was basically an adult.

It's not Messi's fault that Ronaldo wasn't good enough at 13 to be signed by any big club.

Messi was better than Ronaldo at 13 and still better than him at 32
