LordAdamX: The best players don't always go to the best teams... Sometimes they improve the profile of their teams. Case in point? Messi When Messi became Barca's main player, they had two champions league titles... Now they have five Messi has won by 9 la liga titles with barca in 13 years... The preceding 9 la liga titles before that were amassed in 45 years... So it's players like Ronaldo that change teams to win more titles... Some people are better than that 5 Likes |

LordAdamX: With all due respect, this comment is absolute trash Messi only playing in barca doesn't reduce his status... He is playing in the best league in the world against the best teams in Real Madrid and Atletico and as at last reckoning has been d highest goal scorer in both derbies LA liga has produced more ballon d or winners than any other league, and most ballon d or nominees during Messi's career have been from LA liga... And yet has won the LA liga best player so many times now, the award night is a mere formality... Pele played in a Brazil team that won d world cup without his help, Maradona was in barca and never won champions league, Ronaldo has moved to a dead rubber league and is still dragging boss status with d likes of Mandzukic. But you're coming here to say you're absolutely sure as if you're omniscient 2 Likes |

Evangkatsoulis: You're comparing Beckham's entire career freekicks to messi's at 31. Messi has scored 10 free kicks in 2018. If he keeps up this rate and recent history suggests he was will, he would have surpassed Beckham by d end of his career... So, just chill! |

I only laugh when people say that Messi is not as good as Ronaldo because he has only played for Barcelona because they obviously don't understand the concept of loyalty... Ronaldo left the second richest club in the world for the richest and most successful club in the world and his fans will say he's challenging himself... Lalasticlala 1 Like |

Pep Guardiola was eager to be reunited with the Barcelona superstar at the Etihad Stadium, but lucrative terms were knocked back by the Argentine. Lionel Messi turned down Manchester City’s offerto “triple the salary he has at Barcelona”, Khaldoon al Mubarak has revealed. The Argentine superstar was linked with a shock switch to England back in 2016, as Pep Guardiola took the managerial reins at the Etihad Stadium. Speculation resurfaced last year as Barca struggled to get official confirmation of a new deal over the line, with it suggested that a five-time Ballon d’Or winner could be ready for a fresh start. In the end,Messi committed to an extension in Catalunya through to 2021.He had, however, been approached by City long before putting pen to paper, with Guardiola eager to be reunited with the mercurial forward in the Premier League. Asked at a media conference in the UAE about the one player the Blues would have loved to have signed, City chairman Al Mubarak said: “Messi.“We asked Guardiola to talk to him, we offered him triple the salary he has at Barcelona, but he never accepted.” At 31 years of age, and with rumours now circulating regarding another new contract for Messi, it appears unlikely that the South American superstar will be leaving his current surroundings. If he is to see out his playing days at Camp Nou, then he will hang up his boots as a one-club man. Barca are confident that they can make that happen, with club president Josep Maria Bartomeu telling the Times: “He doesn't want to leave.“We always tell him he can be a one-club man. That is his project too.”City appear to have accepted that Messi is out of their reach, with other targets having been chased down. They remain one of few clubs in world football that could afford to finance a deal if the exit door were to ever be opened in Catalunya, but they are being offered no encouragement in that chase |

hensben: It's not only goal scoring that separates messi from hazard. Messi's passing is vastly superior to Hazard's... Not to mention free kicks and general decision making... If it was only goal scoring sef, it will still be a very big difference because their goal scoring stats are not close at all. |

nihilistjnr: People like you never disappoint.... You are oversimplifying my comment so you can sneak in absurd and moronic statements as usual.... You, comically avoid the main point in my comment, then make a few general statements in order to sound smart to other Ronaldo apologists who seem incapable of thinking on their own... Of course, Ronaldo is in some way responsible for Madrid's ucl success, he is very important part of the team, but so is Ramos, Marcelo,Kroos and Isco. Even football novices know that u don't just assume a player is the best in a team because he scores the highest number of goals. If that was the case, Kane and Lukaku would have been adjudged the best players at he World Cup, hazard or kante would not be Chelsea's best players and maradona would be regarded as having had an average career since he didn't score a sh*tload of goals... U claim Ronaldo is the best because he scores most of the goals but how does he score them. Is it by dribbling entire defenses or by firing in pile drivers from 60 yards away from goal? No, most of his goals are tap-in which leads to the logical inference that his teammates i.e. Modric,Marcelo and co are responsible for creating the chances that he feeds off. But no, since Madrid lost to CSKA Moscow, you must be right that Ronaldo was Madrid's all in all since Madrid never lost to small teams while he was there. Oh wait! They did! Several f*cking times... BTW, Modric has proven his quality by dragging underdogs, Croatia to a World Cup final, winning the golden ball while at it... Show me any individual award Ronaldo has won when playing for a team that's not the richest or second richest club in the world 10 Likes |

It's not only deceitful to claim messi's legacy is somehow lessened because of his commitment to Barca, it's downright stu.pid. In an age where players sign for the highest bidders, loyalty to a club should be celebrated not derided. Messi could have easily signed for man city for 800,000 pounds or a million per week, enjoy the benefits of the better coverage that the Epl has or worse still pulled a figo and moved to Madrid but he decided to stay back even after the other better players of the club had moved on... That's not cowardice, that's bravery. Ronaldo moved from Portugal to Man U, the second richest and most popular club in the world, in the most watched league in the world, under the most successful manager ever. When he decided to leave, he didn't move to some struggling team in Spain, he moved to Madrid, the richest, most successful club in the world. At that time, Madrid were struggling in Europe but had won two out of the last three la liga titles and bought the immediate past ballon d'or winner e same transfer window they bought Ronaldo. Ronaldo was making a step up and making a lot more money. That's just normal and not special at all. And no, Ronaldo was not responsible for their improved ucl performances. In his first season, nothing changed, Madrid crashed out in the earliest stages again. It was Mourinho that turned their ucl fates around. Ronaldo was there another three years before they won the ucl and that was after they signed modric. In fact, all the ucl titles he won had modric at the center of it. In essence, in six years after signing modric, Madrid have won the ucl four times. Now because ronaldo has tax issues and because Madrid have decided not to pay him a lot more, he's moved to in a league where players are known to play into their late 30s with ease, in a club that is so far ahead of its domestic rivals the league table is a mere formality. So LordAdamX and nihilistjnr may spin it whichever way they want, but we know how it is. 14 Likes 1 Share |

LordAdam16: How i wish the length of a post was directly proportional to the rationality of its contents, then your comment would have been worth reading- or even typing in the first place.. There's no objective GOAT list but one there is a majority opinion, and that's the opinion that Messi, Pele and Maradona are the three greatest of all the time i.e. the three of the them are greater than any other player... Now, lemme explain the concept of majority to you, since you can't seem to grasp the idea: It simply means that more people hold a particular opinion... For example, if we randomly pick 100 coaches, footballers and pundits and ask them to pick their THREE greatest players of all time, the most frequent answer you would see is the one that contains Pele, Maradona, and Messi These are just opinions but there is a reason they are popularly held, because these people have watched, played with and played against these players... And apart from that the facts show that Messi is superior to Ronaldo.. He has more combined goals and assists in about 150 less games, has won more individual awards and team honors... You seem to think, surprisingly, that you're intelligent person... so consider the above facts and explain how you arrive at the conclusion that Ronaldo is better 9 Likes |

LordAdam16: You have this incessant need to encourage yourself by making statements of grand delusion... Your comments portray a person of diminished intellectual capacity... Lemme try to break it down for you... since I have to assume the role of the teacher of someone that is mentally handicapped... If there are 100 students in a class, and I say the best students in the class should stand up... it's open-ended because I could mean the best 10, or best 5 or best 2... The same way, I can compile a GOAT list of 10, 5 or 3 players. it doesn't make it less accurate... Now, the point which u seem incapable of grasping is that if we make a list of the 3 GREATEST players, Ronaldo would not make it... No one with sense would say R9 is GREATER than Pele, therefore he cannot be on that list ahead of Pele, the same way CR7 cannot make the list ahead of Messi... Do you get it now, or I should explain in your local dialect 5 Likes |
