I'd never understand these Messi fans.

Same folks asking Ronaldo to go to Roma are the same folks asking others why Messi has to leave Barcelona.

The best players go to the best clubs.

-Lord

The best players don't always go to the best teams... Sometimes they improve the profile of their teams. Case in point? Messi

When Messi became Barca's main player, they had two champions league titles... Now they have five

Messi has won by 9 la liga titles with barca in 13 years... The preceding 9 la liga titles before that were amassed in 45 years...

So it's players like Ronaldo that change teams to win more titles... Some people are better than that

The point is that of all the 4 GOAT contenders, he's the only one to have played in one team all his life. If he was just an average exciting player, no one would give a sh*t. To whom much is given, much is expected.

Messi could play blindfolded in Barca and still win the Pichichi and at least one trophy.

That's why it's funny when you guys complain that the football world no longer recognizes Messi's genius because of his consistency. Dude is compared to Pele, Maradona, and CR7. What he's doing is what's expected of a legend of his status that has played in the same team since he was 13. Dude should do more based on his status.

Messi is not competing with Griezmann, Hazard, Salah, Neymar, Modric who'd be forgotten in 10 years time. Dude is competing against legends with eternal GOAT status.

I'm very sure if Maradona, Pele, CR7, R9, Cryuff, or Zidane played in the same Argentina team Messi played in, either of them would have at least one International trophy. If they played in the same Barcelona team for the same time period, they'd have as many trophies.

There's nothing wrong in staying at one club. But Messi is not just any player. If that's what he wants to do though, as CR7 said we all respect it. But don't make it seem like the request is ridiculous.

-Lord

With all due respect, this comment is absolute trash

Messi only playing in barca doesn't reduce his status... He is playing in the best league in the world against the best teams in Real Madrid and Atletico and as at last reckoning has been d highest goal scorer in both derbies

LA liga has produced more ballon d or winners than any other league, and most ballon d or nominees during Messi's career have been from LA liga... And yet has won the LA liga best player so many times now, the award night is a mere formality...

Pele played in a Brazil team that won d world cup without his help, Maradona was in barca and never won champions league, Ronaldo has moved to a dead rubber league and is still dragging boss status with d likes of Mandzukic.

But you're coming here to say you're absolutely sure as if you're omniscient

Not true. The average freekick conversion rate is around 5 percent.
On the other hand the average conversion rate from a cross(freekick, corner kick, open play) is about 1 in 40 or around 2-3%.

Why are u using d conversation rate of all free kicks? We are comparing long range free kicks to crossing the ball from a free kick position...

If d conversion rate of all free kicks is just 5%, imagine d conversion rate of only long range free kicks

We are talking about the quality of the freekicks: distance, angle, and all.
Pirlo didn't score much freekicks but is hailed as one of greatest specialist of all time.

Long range free kicks are beautiful to watch but statistically, they are waste of opportunity. Crossing the ball in is more likely to lead to a goal than trying your luck from 40 yards....

I know. He has been consistent. But beckham was better. That's my point.

You're comparing Beckham's entire career freekicks to messi's at 31.

Messi has scored 10 free kicks in 2018. If he keeps up this rate and recent history suggests he was will, he would have surpassed Beckham by d end of his career...

So, just chill!

And he has the record number of goals and assists against Real Madrid, the most successful team in football history...

Ronaldo left the second richest club in the world for the richest and most successful club in the world and his fans will say he's challenging himself...

Pep Guardiola was eager to be reunited with the Barcelona superstar at the Etihad Stadium, but lucrative terms were knocked back by the Argentine.
Lionel Messi turned down Manchester City’s offerto “triple the salary he has at Barcelona”, Khaldoon al Mubarak has revealed. The Argentine superstar was linked with a shock switch to England back in 2016, as Pep Guardiola took the managerial reins at the Etihad Stadium.
Speculation resurfaced last year as Barca struggled to get official confirmation of a new deal over the line, with it suggested that a five-time Ballon d’Or winner could be ready for a fresh start. In the end,Messi committed to an extension in Catalunya through to 2021.He had, however, been approached by City long before putting pen to paper, with Guardiola eager to be reunited with the mercurial forward in the Premier League.
Asked at a media conference in the UAE about the one player the Blues would have loved to have signed, City chairman Al Mubarak said: “Messi.“We asked Guardiola to talk to him, we offered him triple the salary he has at Barcelona, but he never accepted.”
At 31 years of age, and with rumours now circulating regarding another new contract for Messi, it appears unlikely that the South American superstar will be leaving his current surroundings. If he is to see out his playing days at Camp Nou, then he will hang up his boots as a one-club man.
Barca are confident that they can make that happen, with club president Josep Maria Bartomeu telling the Times: “He doesn't want to leave.“We always tell him he can be a one-club man. That is his project too.”City appear to have accepted that Messi is out of their reach, with other targets having been chased down. They remain one of few clubs in world football that could afford to finance a deal if the exit door were to ever be opened in Catalunya, but they are being offered no encouragement in that chase

I repeat, Hazard to be likened to Messi style of play is a complement and not comparison.

It's not only goal scoring that separates messi from hazard.

Messi's passing is vastly superior to Hazard's... Not to mention free kicks and general decision making...

If it was only goal scoring sef, it will still be a very big difference because their goal scoring stats are not close at all.

Teenage Messi was the best player at u-20 world cup, dribbled past six players to score, and scored a hat trick against Madrid at the bernabau

What was young hazard's most remarkable act in his teenage years?

stop being stüpid, it's not a virtuous trait.

if Modric with his one assist a season, is more important than the top scorer each season for almost 10 years, then he should be able to carry Benzema and Asensio to UCL final easily.

This fool is asking where Ronaldos individual award is when:

Ororo won WPOTY in 2016 after wining Euro 16,
Has an airport named after him in his hometown, and is literally a knight in Portugal

Oga in your industry, after you, na you. Your own gbolo na world class cheesy

Who asked this one about Ronaldo's airport now... what has that got to do with anything...

Modric averages one assist per season, yet wins best midfielder award in UCL consistently...

Ronaldo played four UCL finals, he flopped in three of them...

And the 2016 WPOTY he won, was it won while playing for Portugal? But you want to subtly imply that it's an honor he won playing for Portugal...

Modric has world cup golden ball, where's ronaldo's? You won't answer because he doesn't have...

Ronaldo fans always claim Messi has it easier than Ronaldo but ignore the fact that ronaldo has played for d most privileged clubs and d best managers

How many assists does Modric have in UCL? His highest ever tally in a single season is 3.

Modric has not made more than 1 UCL assist a season since 2013, but he's more important than the top scorer in the competition every year since 2012

Ororo is a 5 time WPOTY for scoring goals. Kane and Lukaku are nowhere near his level. Infact, Ororo has more league goals in Spain alone, than their combined career totals

Comparing Kane and Lukaku to Ororo is literally proof that as a child, you aspired to be a Balon Dor contender in the industry of stüpidity. Congratulations, take your award.

please stop quoting me. I don't even know how you managed to rope me into your insane rantings in the first place. It's not as if I was even discussing Ororo's exploits.

You can quote me again when Modric drags Asensio to UCL or World Cup final cheesy

Gbef.

An ediot is someone who wants to judge central midfielders by the number of assists they have when history has shown that that's not the case...

Dani Alves had more assists than xavi but we all know that xavi was the more important player in the the team but I guess a 'genius' like you would pick Alves before xavi in your team...

I don't have the time to write long epistles anymore today but I'll say this, Modric dragged brozovic and Lovren to world cup final while winning the golden ball for his efforts...

So where's ronaldo's individual award for portugal

Ronaldo was not responsible for improved UCL performance, but he's the all time top scorer in UCL history

Ronaldo was not responsible for improved UCL performance, but he's the only player in history to score in 3 UCL finals, 2 of those as a Madrid player

Ronaldo was not responsible for improved UCL performance but he scored 105 goals for Madrid in UCL

Ronaldo was not responsible for improved UCL performance, but every season from 10/11, he scored at least 10 UCL goals

Ronaldo was not responsible for improved UCL performance, but has been UCL top scorer, every season since 2012

Ronaldo was not responsible for improved UCL performance, but he has 9 UCL semi-final goals.

Ronaldo was not responsible for improved UCL performance, but Modric the world best cannot beat 10 man CSKA Moscow without Ronaldo.

Japa out of my mentions abeg.

People like you never disappoint.... You are oversimplifying my comment so you can sneak in absurd and moronic statements as usual....

You, comically avoid the main point in my comment, then make a few general statements in order to sound smart to other Ronaldo apologists who seem incapable of thinking on their own...

Of course, Ronaldo is in some way responsible for Madrid's ucl success, he is very important part of the team, but so is Ramos, Marcelo,Kroos and Isco.

Even football novices know that u don't just assume a player is the best in a team because he scores the highest number of goals. If that was the case, Kane and Lukaku would have been adjudged the best players at he World Cup, hazard or kante would not be Chelsea's best players and maradona would be regarded as having had an average career since he didn't score a sh*tload of goals...

U claim Ronaldo is the best because he scores most of the goals but how does he score them. Is it by dribbling entire defenses or by firing in pile drivers from 60 yards away from goal? No, most of his goals are tap-in which leads to the logical inference that his teammates i.e. Modric,Marcelo and co are responsible for creating the chances that he feeds off.

But no, since Madrid lost to CSKA Moscow, you must be right that Ronaldo was Madrid's all in all since Madrid never lost to small teams while he was there. Oh wait! They did! Several f*cking times...

BTW, Modric has proven his quality by dragging underdogs, Croatia to a World Cup final, winning the golden ball while at it... Show me any individual award Ronaldo has won when playing for a team that's not the richest or second richest club in the world

It's not only deceitful to claim messi's legacy is somehow lessened because of his commitment to Barca, it's downright stu.pid.

In an age where players sign for the highest bidders, loyalty to a club should be celebrated not derided. Messi could have easily signed for man city for 800,000 pounds or a million per week, enjoy the benefits of the better coverage that the Epl has or worse still pulled a figo and moved to Madrid but he decided to stay back even after the other better players of the club had moved on... That's not cowardice, that's bravery.

Ronaldo moved from Portugal to Man U, the second richest and most popular club in the world, in the most watched league in the world, under the most successful manager ever. When he decided to leave, he didn't move to some struggling team in Spain, he moved to Madrid, the richest, most successful club in the world. At that time, Madrid were struggling in Europe but had won two out of the last three la liga titles and bought the immediate past ballon d'or winner e same transfer window they bought Ronaldo.

Ronaldo was making a step up and making a lot more money. That's just normal and not special at all.

And no, Ronaldo was not responsible for their improved ucl performances. In his first season, nothing changed, Madrid crashed out in the earliest stages again. It was Mourinho that turned their ucl fates around.

Ronaldo was there another three years before they won the ucl and that was after they signed modric. In fact, all the ucl titles he won had modric at the center of it. In essence, in six years after signing modric, Madrid have won the ucl four times.

Now because ronaldo has tax issues and because Madrid have decided not to pay him a lot more, he's moved to in a league where players are known to play into their late 30s with ease, in a club that is so far ahead of its domestic rivals the league table is a mere formality.

So LordAdamX and nihilistjnr may spin it whichever way they want, but we know how it is.

Faux intelligence! It's cute!

Except that there's no objective top 3 GOAT list that everyone agrees to. In a class, everyone knows the top 3 as they'd have objective results due to the fact that they do the same subjects, go to the same lectures, answer the exact same questions in the same exams, and have their respective scores compared by the same teacher who is the only authority.

Conflating an objective school report with a subjective GOAT list ranking proves how shallow you are!

So no one would say R9 isn't greater than Pele? What could Pele do that R9 couldn't? R9 won 2 world cups. He could have won 3 if he didn't have a convulsive fit before the '98 final. He is the only GOAT to have a 3 year catastrophic knee injury, come back, break the transfer record to Real Madrid, then won a Ballon D'Or and the World Cup scoring 2 goals in the final and winning the Golden Boot. No one would ever be able to do that. This guy won two FIFA World Player of the Year awards before he was 22.

LM10 dribbles mostly using feints. CR7 dribbles mostly using skills. R9 dribbles using both.

Watch this clip and tell me you've ever seen anyone do what he did --
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaBvBjOJ5SI

And you think he can't replace anyone on the GOAT list in any position.

There's a reason why he isn't called a magician, a genius, or something else. He's called O Fenômeno. The Phenomenon. He cannot be logically explained.

“I love to score goals after passing all the defenders as well as the keeper. This is not my speciality, but my habit.” – Ronaldo

And then you say CR7 can't displace Messi? Is that a joke or what? Any GOAT can displace any GOAT in any list. That's why everyone can't agree to anybody's list. And that's why it's disrespectful to talk about a TOP 3, as tho' there are 3 legends that others can't displace. And even more disrespectful to say legends like CR7, Cryuff, and R9 can't displace Messi in any list. That just shows you're irredeemably ignorant. You think football started in 2010 and ended in 2012?

Messi is the only GOAT to go to 5 international cup finals and not win one. Not even a tap in. How do you go to 5 finals with roughly the same players and you can't even inspire them to one trophy? And you want to put him before Pele, Maradona, CR7, Cryuff, R9. What insolence!

-Lord

How i wish the length of a post was directly proportional to the rationality of its contents, then your comment would have been worth reading- or even typing in the first place..

There's no objective GOAT list but one there is a majority opinion, and that's the opinion that Messi, Pele and Maradona are the three greatest of all the time i.e. the three of the them are greater than any other player...

Now, lemme explain the concept of majority to you, since you can't seem to grasp the idea: It simply means that more people hold a particular opinion...

For example, if we randomly pick 100 coaches, footballers and pundits and ask them to pick their THREE greatest players of all time, the most frequent answer you would see is the one that contains Pele, Maradona, and Messi

These are just opinions but there is a reason they are popularly held, because these people have watched, played with and played against these players... And apart from that the facts show that Messi is superior to Ronaldo..

He has more combined goals and assists in about 150 less games, has won more individual awards and team honors...

You seem to think, surprisingly, that you're intelligent person... so consider the above facts and explain how you arrive at the conclusion that Ronaldo is better

The same way, I can compile a GOAT list of 10, 5 or 3 players. it doesn't make it less accurate...

Now, the point which u seem incapable of grasping is that if we make a list of the 3 GREATEST players, Ronaldo would not make it...

No one with sense would say R9 is GREATER than Pele, therefore he cannot be on that list ahead of Pele, the same way CR7 cannot make the list ahead of Messi...

Di Stefano is a legend. He definitely would get on the GOAT list. But in the post you quoted, we were talking about legends who could slide into the top 3 easily. Do you even read what you type? Or are you just trying to make cheap shots.

And what happened to closing this chapter or are you suffering from chronic indecision? At least Di Stefano won a South American Championship with Argentina. He only got to one final. What has your magician won in four finals? Every one gets on the GOAT list with significant club and country achievements, we get to lower the bar for Messi who couldn't step up to score a solo goal tapin that you guys say he does effortlessly in 5 finals. And yet you guys have the effrontery to be arrogant and cocky.

Stick to your own decision. Stop the flaming. grin grin grin

Really, how many times have I expounded the uselessness of that poll. Is that all you can come up with?

One would easily confuse you guys with a bunch of teenage pubescent girls discussing who's the hottest guy in the One Direction band. grin grin grin

All GOAT rankings are subjective, but everyone agrees on who the GOAT contenders are. And I'd prove it. Make your top 10 GOAT list, and I guarantee you everyone here would have a problem with your ranking.

Why top 10, why not top 3...

Even if we make a top 10 list, Messi would make that list before Ronaldo

Majority of footballers, coaches, and pundits do not have the same opinion. They have vastly different opinions on any GOAT contender.

Stop making untrue statements.

There is no GOAT list without Ronaldo in it.

That is a FACT. And people can make 3 man lists without Messi. CR7, Cruyff, and R9 can slot into the 3 man list easily.

In fact, it is immensely disrespectful to limit the GOAT list to 3 players.

Do closer? Please how many senior international trophies have your GOAT won?

How typical for you guys to keep bending rules for your GOAT contender. Put Pele, Maradona, Cryuff, CR7, R9, R10, heck even Neymar in this present Argentine team and see if they wouldn't win one of the last 5 international finals Messi's been to. That's GOAT level.

Learn to respect the legends and you guys should stop making baseless statements. That's all. grin grin grin
