To say that blogging has diverse areas is a truism. It is like saying fish lives in water or that the sky is far from the ground. With this, I would like to state it clearly that while this post evaluates blogging generally in the Nigerian environment, it particularly revolves around CELEBRITY BLOGGING. One common thing I have observed about most folks who address themselves as celebrity bloggers is the fact that they do not put factors such as creativity, hardwork, risks, boldness and 'go the extra mile spirit' into consideration when they blog. They can be equated to traders who rent empty shops and call on passersby to come and buy from them. The question then should be: What are they buying from you? Most Nigerian celebrity bloggers are just too lazy to carry out thorough research on celebrities while blogging. They lack that spirit to think and go the extra mile to find certain secret things that are true about these celebrities. Finding out secret things that are true about famous people is not and has never been an easy task. It involves so many stressful situations, risks, hardwork, perseverance, rejections and other things that may not come pleasantly. People are more interested in patronizing you when you offer them something they cannot easily get access to. You will have an upper hand if you possess or have access to things they may not be able to know; shocking or interesting things that are true! The exact reverse is the case with most celebrity bloggers. They do not carry out complete ground work to ascertain stories or lives before posting things. Some other bloggers just go on social media pages of celebrities and copy posts! There is basically no creativity or hardwork in that because anyone can equally do that. A pupil of 8 in Pry 3 can do that as well. Why would you think that you you would become exceptional when what you are offering as news is accessible to anyone who cares to access it? You may continue to post but you may not be moving. Nobody travels in a circle without getting to where he or she has been. There is an extra mile to go in order to stand out. Nigerian celebrity bloggers should take enough time to do thorough follow up on celebrities to unravel secrets, mysteries, stories, activities, etc in their lives before putting same as news. Why should I visit a blog to see Ini Edo's Facebook posts when I can easily visit her Facebook page to see them and even more? To stand is different from standing out! THE TRUTH: You cannot be successful in blogging when you decide to join the bandwagon of mediocre celebrity bloggers who invade social media pages of celebrities to 'copy and paste' or go to online foreign discussion platforms to do 'copy and paste' on mere gossips! Fishermen who want to catch mackerels should go to the sea; you cannot get them from the shallow stream at your backyard. Kelvin Ukachukwu, media consultant, writes from Warri. |
DuBLINGreenb:If he is not a Nollywood actor, then what is he? Come on man, this dude is one Nigerian actor that's so funny. I don't usually do Nollywood movies, especially those ones that revolve around love but comedy folks like this guy can really make one have a good laugh. |
Scam!!! |
Na wa for some pipu sha! I find it hard to believe that some folks would gladly take their own lives Money no dey, money no dey, but life sweet pass sardine!I can't even touch one strand of hair on my head because of a lover. When men and women full everywhere like sand? ![]() |
The hype of Ugwuanyi continuously on this platform is nothing but a political scam! A lot of people believe what they read online without visiting the state to see for themselves. Enugu is just like my second home and I have said it over and over again that most of the projects in Enugu State were done by the immediate past governor, Sullivan Chime. Gburugburu is just doing window dressing. |
Bobotiribotiti!!! |
KenOne:I'm sure you are still a teenager living in your parents' rented apartment. |
Prompto, so you have decided to carry your foolishness from your father's mud house to Nairaland? Na wa! You be real mugu. |
etrouble:Your post sold you out as an ignoramus! If you don't know the meaning of 'ignoramus', check it out in the dictionary. You are not only suffering economic hardship, you are also suffering mental hardship. Instead of thinking of how to better your life, you are boasting about elected politicians who do not give a hoot about you and your entire family. |
Bloooody:Hear which side of story? What were they doing in someone's house by that time of the day? |
That's their problem. I wonder how people see life to decide that their life would be spent with members of same sex ![]() |
liberalchick:Does that face look like someone who's barely 30? ![]() |
The Nigerian system is messed up! If the economy and social system were good, cases of internet fraud would have been very low. My take though. |

Enugu politics is highly predictable. I knew Ozege would return as speaker. |

Whoever that's offended by what Bruce said doesn't read as well. Let's leave the messenger and face the message. |
It's very clear that she did it just to trend. |

...and Buhari behaves like a cultured democrat. Hypocrisy everywhere. No matter how yansh make yanga reach, legs must still first am enter house. ...and snake wey say na tortoise back e wan bite, nai be say e money dor plenty reach to see dentist! Lesson for APC: Every dog has its day. You have had your turn. |
F3dan:Thanks for correcting him. He would rather stay online to type rubbish than use his time to learn new things. |
hollah123:Your words betray you as someone who has not grown. I'm sure you still live with your parents. You insult people because they express their views on a public forum? That's the height of childishness. |
Bigmikedagod:You type as if you're not a Nigerian. |
Power is transient. It's something everyone should know. |
Na wa oh! |
If your girlfriend, wife or fiancée tells you she's going to see her pastor, be more worried than when she tells you she's going to see her ex!!! |
Egbami o!!! I have discovered that most of these recent musicians in Nigeria do songs that promote immorality in the society. We hear all sort of useless expressions such as '36 million ina me ganja'...'I want to use my cassava to shift your womb, permit me'. I mean, these guys don't know what damage they are doing to the society! Oh where are you? Raskimono, Mandators, Edna Ogoli, Essien Igbokwe, Isaac Black, Oris Wiliki, etc. These were the ones who used music to create a positive impact in the society. Naira Marley or whatever you call yourself, una no dey try for the lives of our children, I swear. |
Nice write-up |
chukxie:For the pronunciation of MILD, I stand to be corrected because I'm very sure of it. ...it should be local farmers discussing mechanized farming. Thanks. |
Originalsly:Do not be too quick to judge. That's a typo. |
