naptu2: Did you read the article? Did you see where Segun said he had gotten him deals with First Bank and Super Sport? (Segun wrote about the deals earlier this year, but didn't name the companies cos they were still negotiating).
Do you think Yekini's problem was money? The guy withdrew all his lifetime savings and threw then in the street for people to pick. He was just plain crazy and there is no conspiracy

Ganiyyah: Abnormal behaviour is not a life-threatening illness, that's what Odegbami meant. Get it!
Did you read stories about the guy's last days? He was a wreck and danger to even his neighbors. Whatever was wrong with him ate his health out and his decision to throw everyone out of his life ended it for him.

The guy was just sick and what the mathematician is saying does not hold. What prevented him from helping Yekini if he really cared that much about him?

naptu2: Yekini Was Killed —Odegbami

Former Nigerian international, Segun Odegbami, MON, alleged in a stunning interview Friday on Channels Television that former African Footballer of the Year, Rashidi Yekini might have been killed by those who forcefully took him away from his home.

Odegbami also called on the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar to probe what led to the reasons the late Yekini was chained and taken away from his residence by unknown people.

The former captain of the Green Eagles of Nigeria opined that the former Vitoria Setubal of Portugal striker was sane but depressed after losing a huge sum of money in a business deal.

He opined that the deceased, who scored Nigeria’s first goal at the World Cup in 1994, was a recluse, stating that when some people alleged that he was insane and took him to the police station, they were rebuffed by the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State.

“Is it a hospital or herbal centre? Why did they take him there? There was absolutely nothing wrong with Rashidi. You’ve been hearing stories and all kinds of reports about Rashidi being mad, walking the streets of Ibadan and all those things, saying he was abnormal. Who would have done normal things, if you lost your fortunes the way he did? He suffered huge financial loss, about two years ago and because he didn’t have any friend.”

Odegbami, who has just returned from Harvard University, USA where he had attended a conference, added: “he could not even share his pains and burden with people. He could have committed suicide but he didn’t. Rather, he behaved abnormally for a while and that was the cause of his depression and it was something that time has healed because the Rashidi I saw was okay.”

He further argued: “how could an insane person drive a car? Rashidi and I met at Onireke Guest House. He carried me in his car, just the two of us and we sat for over one hour. He unburdened his challenges to me and he decided that from now onwards that Rashidi was going to get back into the limelight.”

Odegbami also disclosed that plans were in top gear by First Bank of Nigeria to make the late striker of Gateway Football Club of Abeokuta an ambassador, where he would distribute 5,000 balls to young footballers and when the late striker heard that his eyes lit up.

Odegbami, who owns The International Academy, TIA, Wasimi, Ogun State spoke about the planned programme with First Bank. “I was not going to arrange interviews for you, where people will laugh at you. The plan was to make you do what you know how to do best, play football, train with kids, distribute balls to kids,” Odegbami said he told Yekini.

He also disclosed that SuperSport were interested in what was happening to Yekini and when they heard First Bank was about to make him an ambassador they tried to do a documentary on him.

On how he heard of the demise of the former striker, Odegbami said: “I came back from Ethiopia, called his mobile phone but it didn’t go. I called one of his friends, Bayo and he said he too had been calling Yekini but, no response. It was a premeditated death. Who were those that went to take him away? Why did they take him away? If he was ill, who certified that he was ill? He played football on that day, he was driving his car, he was not disturbing anybody. He had his own problem. Rashidi had always been a recluse, even when he was playing for Nigeria and getting all the awards and everything. Rashidi was not somebody that you will find in the party, he never smoked, he didn’t care about material things.”

Odegbami spoke on how Yekini was abducted by some people after he parked his car, arguing that those behind his abduction must be fished out.

“His neighbours said they saw two spiritual people, one was a relative, the other very close to him. They said they wanted to cure him or something and the police had said that when Rashidi had this depressive problem, they took him to the Commissioner of Police and the commissioner told them that ‘it was you people that have problems not this young man that I’m seeing. Nobody should take him anywhere without the presence of the Police,”

Odegbami called on the Federal Government and the National Sports Commission, NSC, to pay closer attention to ex-sports people because a lot of them have been forgotten after winning laurels for the country.

How true...We are supposed to be the salt that influences the world. As Christians, our lives should be the light to this dark world. I guess we will all give account on how well we did those things when we meet our MAKER on the final day. GOD bless us all!

The Zims and others have the Bible right of territoriality. Acts 17:26; Romans 13:1. Usually Presidents invite their Christian Leaders for advice. And if they aren't satisfied with what they see, they can exercise powers of Romans 13. Preachers have to make sure they stand well before God, and men. This liberty is for all.
I understand but what makes these people say that he is from the devil? Did GOD reveal that to them? Remember that the Jews said JESUS was from the devil and they were wrong on that! If you do not know a thing for a fact, especially spiritual things, it is safe to always keep quiet.

Me for instance, I wouldn't want any pastor to put his hands on me. However, I will be careful not to call anyone fake because I don't know all the picture. As Paul rightly said in 1 Cor. 13, we now see through the glass but when the LORD comes, we will see things clearly.

Until then, I have no basis to judge TB Josh

ckkris: rastamouse,
As Paul challenged Peter for wrong practice, Christians generally have the right to challenge any teaching, or practice, that doesn't seem to conform with the Scriptures. Every genuine preacher, like Paul, will happily present his message to others, to help evaluate and ensure he's not amiss. But anyone has the right to preach, just as anyone has the right to reject it.
So what exactly are these guys saying about TB Josh? Do they have anything specific? In Paul's case, he spoke specifically about how Peter was being a stumbling block to the gentiles because of the many Jewish rituals. What are the Zim and Cameroun guys accusing TBJ of?

As Sounso intelligently put it, we will give individual accounts and unless you are very convinced, I don't know why you should judge another man's life especially when he says it is from GOD. Who will not love it when he can make predictions and they come in?

killafree: hmmmmm....why is everyone calling him a fake prophet? Is there some truth to these increasing statements of contempt? "Yawadey" news desk reports that several church leaders in Zimbabwe have attacked popular Nigerian prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua (TB Joshua) claiming he was not welcome in Zimbabwe and his teachings were “judgmental, partisan and unorthodox and fake.” full story at http://yawadey..com/2012/05/church-leaders-in-zimbabwe-blacklist-tb.html
Only GOD have all the facts and can judge. Why will another pastor judge him? It is because his congregation has grown past his own? If they have seen anything specific, let them come out and say it, else, they should stop this jealousy!

1) You were not "sinning" because you were an atheist. You were a christian

2) Your wife might have prayed but redemption could only come from you

3) There was no Jesus in your dream
You are right in all those observations but the bottom line is that I am now a better person. I was a hypocrite at first but now, I am serious about my relationship with JESUS.

These are the kind of answers that you should expect with your kind of question grin. On a serious note, I will tell you that Christianity is a choice. We don't go into it for what we will gain but because we want to be in it.

Since you shared your life today, let me also share mine with you...

I have been a Christian all my life. Like every other mortal being, except JESUS of course, my walk with GOD has been anything but perfect. I have fallen many times than I had risen. I have struggled all my life to live the life that I believed GOD wanted. My breakthrough however came about just a year ago under very strange circumstances...

Before the experience, I had grown to be a worse person. I was involved in all sins imaginable, not the criminal ones though. I will go out and drink with my friends and chasing girls was the best part of my life despite the fact that I was happily married with two beautiful kids.

On that fateful day, I was heavily drunk as usual and returned to the house. I just called our house girl and told her that she should go and sleep naked (my wife told me this). When wife heard it and confronted the girl. The girl was also very surprised and repeated what I said to my wife. I was so drunk that I never knew when I slept off that night...

However, at about 3 am, I felt a shadow on me. When I opened my eyes, my wife was standing over me and praying for me. She was crying as she did so. Nothing changed inside of me but I remember that I laughed in my head and went back to sleep...

The very next day, my life changed. I had this strange dream. In the dream, I was in a bus traveling with a lot of people. There were in fact two buses and I was in the smaller one. The bus got to a rest stop and I got down to buy something. However, after some time, I found myself wandering very far from the bus. All of a sudden, it occurred to me that I was traveling. I had all along forgotten that I was in a bus and traveling. Strangely enough, I was all alone when I was out of the bus. I then decided to get back to the bus.

I walked for sometime and saw the bus parked at exactly the place that I went off. The two drivers of the buses were standing beside the buses and as soon as they saw me, they hugged each other in a happy mood and beckoned me to come to the bus quickly. I ran to the bus and entered it.

The other passengers were complaining that I had kept the bus waiting but the drivers were very happy for me. They got into the buses and we continued on the journey. I woke up as soon as the buses started moving.

When I woke up, I found that something had left my body. I was light and immediately saw the mess that my life was in. I quickly got on my knees and started praying for forgiveness of my sins. I cried for hours while confessing each and every sin. Afterwards, sin became so irritating to me and my walk with the LORD became a very easy thing. I have been falling along but I am definitely a better person and my wife is of course my hero.

I thank the LORD for a praying wife cool
STOP TWISTING MY WORDS YOU MUMUS! i said we can sacrifice the criminals who deserve death penality, OK?? angry

and i just said this to remove all the negative stigma attached to human sacrifice. Infact, in Papua New Guinea, where unlike useless statistics, most tribesmen are educated and EVERYONE knows some form of English. Even there, the tribes know the importance of sacrifice and once in a year, they have mutually cooperated and agreed to stage friendly wars in a festival, whereby the killed are usually eaten by the winners. This is the choice of their people and they are happy with it. now again, I AM NOT SAYING WE SHOULD DO THE SAME IN NIGERIA! all i am saying is that sacrifices are important and there is nothing wrong with it. The sacrifice concept is based on balancing the forces. In order to obtain something, we must give something in return, just like when you want to earn money, you sacrifice your effort, or when a mother wants to have a baby, she sacrifices 9 months of pleasure.

And finally, these sacrifices can be continued on animals. it is just a small issue. In Nigeria, we can overlook it for now. we are now at a stage of spiritual immaturity. you dont need to get so excited about this things.
You need to be checked in the head for this dangerous thing you wrote here. I don't know if you have children but no child or even feeble adults (women and the elderly) should be allowed near you. You are just a time bomb waiting to explode. How can you even think like this in this age and time?

logicboy: That there, is the problem. You can not describe what a relationship with God is. There is nothing you can tell me as a christian about christianity that I dont know or at least, have a basic idea about
Do you genuinely believe that you had a personal relationship with the LORD? Christianity is not a religion, it is a way of life and that is how you should approach it.
Christianity EtcRe: Logicboy Was A Christian For 22 Years by rastamouse(op): 4:53pm On May 08, 2012
OLAADEGBU: You were deceived because you were indoctrinated with dogmas that have no basis in the truth. The irony is that you have jumped from the frying pan to the fire because you have just started another form of indoctrination of lies that would lead you to nowhere. Let me reiterate my point again. A religious man especially many of us who say that we are Christians in Nigeria today live their lives as if God doesn't exist. When a religious man becomes an atheist he is just being consistent with his lifestyle.

Our Lord Jesus Christ has come not to make us religious be to make us righteous and set up a living relationship with our Creator. Jesus said you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. It is the truth you know that will make you free and when you are free you will be free indeed.
You have really been one of the guys I truly respect here on this forum. Keep it up!

logicboy: I was a catholic but have always been a bit secular. I grew up watching MTV and Cartoons. I also made fun of protestant churches with their fake miracles and speaking in tongues.

When I moved to the UK, I became more secular. I found it a waste of time to go to church during winter. Freezing my azz off to go to church on sunday when I can watch premiership football.

However I was still a christian then. As someone that likes to get facts and argue, I started reading about the major wars and civilization. I read about slavery, Roman empire, medieval Britain etc.

The fateful day came when I was racially abused by an atheist white man, who said that "blacks are stupid because they are accept a religion that enslaved their people and they still like the image of a white Jesus; It is a curse to be black". Normally, as a London black boy, there are two ways of dealing with racists; beating sense into the racist or logically exposing the fallacious argument supporting racism. However, I was rooted to the spot. The part about slavery was right. The racist was mostly wrong but there was an element of truth. We had statues of a white Jesus in the 3 biggest catholic churches in Lagos.

I went home and started reading on "christianity and slavery".....that was the beginning of my alter-ego; logicboy. Logic became my Master.

Christianity is a foriegn religion to Nigeria and is no less of a fairytale than Shango or Ogun or thor.
I must admit that this experience will really affect many people including myself. If there is ever anything I have learnt today, it is that people have reasons for doing what they do. I honestly want to say sorry for the experience. However, what you were doing was a follow-follow type of religion. Why don't you try having a personal relationship with GOD?

That might be what you need

Even after he builds all this schools, he makes the school fees so high that the average/poor man which makes up more than 60perecent of his entire congregation can not send his child there......does that mean that the school was built for ONLY THE RICH?
I tought that christianity advices its followers to seek the kingdom of GOD and hate worldly things because they belong to the devil......but it doesnt seem to be the case with the bishop. I even heard that the plan to build an estate (winners city) is already in motion and i saw the prices of the houses in that estate, it ranged from 6million to abt 35million. What does a 'MAN OF GOD' need all this worldly things forhuh........what is he gonna preach to his congregationhuh:/
undecidedhey guys lets not decieve ourselves........!!!
WHERE DOES HE GET THE MONEY FROMhuh........and is he not suppose to face church work and leave all this worldly things for 'sinners'??
#just saying
That is where he gets his money from. Being financially successful is never a sin as long as the person is not possessed by the material things. GOD can choose to bless someone without measure. HE did the same thing to Abraham, Isaac and of course Solomon.

Christianity EtcRe: Is Time Endless? by rastamouse: 1:53pm On May 08, 2012
During an interview in 1930 regarding creation, this is what Einstein said (Quoted verbatim!)

"I'm not an atheist. I don't think I can call myself a pantheist. The problem involved is too vast for our limited minds. We are in the position of a little child entering a huge library filled with books in many languages. The child knows someone must have written those books. It does not know how. It does not understand the languages in which they are written. The child dimly suspects a mysterious order in the arrangement of the books but doesn't know what it is. That, it seems to me, is the attitude of even the most intelligent human being toward God. We see the universe marvelously arranged and obeying certain laws but only dimly understand these laws. Our limited minds grasp the mysterious force that moves the constellations. I am fascinated by Spinoza's pantheism, but admire even more his contribution to modern thought because he is the first philosopher to deal with the soul and body as one, and not two separate things."
