beamtopola: Institute of Peace, an ordinary advocacy group made up of government officials, diplomats, and even Nigerian officials...released that statement. The undersigned official is just a member of the group who works with the DoS. Don't get it twisted. "The appeal was made under the auspices of the United States Institute of Peace in Washington DC when the agency convened a gathering of U.S. officials, diplomats and Nigerian leaders." |

Maduawuchukwu: Did you read where I wrote that the North (especially NW which dictates the northern political trajectory) is too politically strategic and electorally dangerous to mess with due to its electoral might? Secondly, politics is not a tea party. Interests must be served and common sense dictates that the interests of those who gave the winner their mandate will naturally be have a higher priority than those who worked tirelessly against his success. However don't forget that the constitution protects those that didn't vote for the winner by specifying certain appointments (e.g. one minister per state) that must be made regardless of the voting pattern. Finally you wouldn't expect OBJ to work against his own region because of the electoral outcome, especially as his opponent was from the same region. |

Shayetet13: The Army were already there for a widely publicised military operation and were attacked by an approaching angry mob armed with bottles and stones, you sound as if they were specifically sent there to quell a riot. attackgat: The agitators should have not been so stupid as to try attacking a military procession. The Shiites were not half as lucky as the Aba agitators. As for the invasion, blame the cowardly chest beating runaway Kanu for threatening national security by instructing his legion of followers to burn down the country to ashes if he was rearrested, and daring the military that it would meet its end if it also tried to do so in Aba. Read Reuben Abati's letter. |

OjukwuWarBird: Simply because you cannot blackmail or arm twist the government to achieve your secessionist goals. The only constitutional channel is through your reps in the NA. Anything else will definitely end up in blood and tears. |

attackgat: If you watched the IPOB video it would be clear that the soldiers tried to retreat in their armoured vehicle but were continually attacked by the agitators. If a blaring siren wasn't enough warning then I wonder what would be. Besides you think an approaching angry mob armed with deadly bottles and stones does not qualify as a clear and present danger? Puuhleease. Take it from me, the hundreds of innocent lives taken in the US already this year involved minimal confrontation (not even physical attack with bottles and stones) from the agitators. You're sounding really ignorant so I'll recommend that you google #blacklivesmatter for more enlightenment. |

Maduawuchukwu: No, first of all because he actually won some northern states in 2011 like Adamawa, unlike the SE where 99% of the 2015 votes were against Buhari. Apart from that, politically, the North is too strategic a region to mess with because of its electoral muscle. |

attackgat: Have you been living under a rock? You mean American security agents don't shoot their own citizens whether armed or unarmed? The same American officers that would shoot you dead for moving your hands nearer to your pockets talk less of attacking them with bottles and stones? Wow you either gotta be kidding or need to read more. 13 Likes 3 Shares

Is this an official U.S. Govt position or an idealistic peace advocacy NGO/agency? I'm asking because the America I know will never tolerate anyone that tries to undermine or attack their military whether with bottles, stones or grenades like IPOB. maddock: Unfortunately PMB is a brutally honest man that calls a spade a spade and I'm in full support of that. Ironically they initially pretended to be proud of being tagged 5% and even printed t-shirts to celebrate it in their usual defiant manner that always ends up in futility, only for us to have been disturbed by their wailings a few weeks later which has continued for 2 years now If anyone is looking for someone that will walk on egg shells around s/easterners so as not to hurt their feelings, it's definitely not Buhari.

LionDeLeo: They try to derail the thread by screaming almajiri and poverty, forgetting that due to the great northern population amidst limited national resources, the poorest are bound to be found in the North. They however also conveniently forget that the wealthiest Nigerians and best public infrastructure such as roads etc, are also found in the same North. Don't mind the parasites, numbers are more stubborn than they can ever be 6 Likes 1 Share |

The statement was not necessary politically incorrect as politics is all about interest and it was only the minority who incidentally never voted for him that found it offensive, but it was the plain and simple truth. You cannot reap where you did not sow and this is a universal rule. |
Politics / Re: Niger State (northerners) Looking For Oil To Avoid Been Called Parasite by Rawani: 4:46am On Sep 29, 2017 |
LionDeLeo: Very good question, because statistically they're more parasitic than the entire North (minus the war ravaged NE). In fact Kano and Kaduna IGR alone dwarfs the entire IGR of the South Eastern states combined; they're actually dragging with what's in Davido's account. In other words, no other region is more dependent on FG allocations to survive, and no other region is as parasitic as the SE and this is a verifiable fact. 14 Likes 1 Share

legitnow: All actions have consequences, trying to arm-twist the FG into allowing you eat your cake and have it will never work, as you have seen so far. You never gave Buhari your mandate, so apart from what you're constitutionally entitled to, you cannot expect that you'd be treated exactly the same way as those who gave him their mandate. Common sense. Blackmailing the FG is an invitation to disaster. |
