It was even in response to one of Asari Dokubo's verbal diarrhoeas where he said Jonathan MUST return as president in 2015. Seun and the Mods, by pushing it to the front page, are just showing that they are jittery over the overwhelming support GMB now enjoys on NL as a result of the realization that Nigeria needs to eject the failure called Jonathan if we are to move forward.

I have never insulted anyone on this forum, and my records bear me witness, but I must state that you're extremely foolish for insulting an entire region. Would it be fair to say that your entire population is full of grandmother rapists and cannibals? Respect yourself sir.

Thanks! The bolded part above is answer enough to your question as to why it was retained. It's also the reason why Ironsi and his ibo advisers foisted this form of govt on us with even consulting us beforehand. It's for this reason also that you ibos were all for one nigeria even as it's obvious that your so-called potential nigerians especially from the north, hate your guts and want nothing whatsoever to do with you greedy covetous beings.

They slaughtered you lot with gusto to emphasis how much they dislike you ibos but yet you insisted on been one with them hoping that eventually you will outsmart them and enslave them in their own region. Afterall, they are not as educated and hence not clever as you guys. They had their first graduate in 1953! You have forgotten that one does need a masters degree in Human Biology to know when you are been sodomised.

After killing most of their leaders whom they have willingly chosen to look out for their interest in the new nation, you "smart" ibos now want the northerners to accept your own definition of "united" Nigeria. You thought, the ibo domination you promised us in 1949 was here but alas! you did not bank on the northerners paying you back in your own nasty coin.

Bottomline is, the ONLY reason why you guys wanted One Nigeria with the northerners was because you thought you can outsmart them and over-run their region but your insidious plans failed, ojukwu then 419 you emotional beings into fighting a secessionist war that you were not fully prepared for.
Epic cool.

I am full of thanks for his challenge because he is unwittingly raising awareness about the General's sterling qualities. All the achievements listed here are just what he achieved as HOS within 18 months, and exclude his achievements as Federal Commissioner (Minister) for Petroleum and as PTF Chairman.

@Rawani

Among all you listed, the one that stands out is that of cutting the budget.
I just cannot understand how that equates to or supports development. If it was reducing the recurrent expenditure (as was expected because of the collapse of all democratic institutions) while increasing the capital expenditure and the budget in general, then that would have been a good thing. Or even leaving the budget as it was and reducing the recurrent expenditure wouldn't be bad. But just reducing the budget by 15% for the sake of reducing it is a very bad economic policy IMO.
Maybe you can explain better why he did it and how it translates to increasing development and the socioeconomic status of the populace.
Budget cuts tend to have the greatest impact on programs that benefit the poor and vulnerable (GMB's constituency and support backbone), as other items, such as interest on the debt, the public-sector wage bill, or military expenditures, are more likely to have first claim on scarce funds. What would be a source for concern is if the budget cut was on capital projects, if however unnecessary costs of governance were being incurred (e.g expansion of the presidential fleet) then it would be a relief on our scarce national resources if they are done away with.

lol..shagari killed the leader not him
Buhari, as the General Officer Commanding the 3rd Armoured Brigade, Jos, played a leading role when President Shehu Shagari crushed the Maitatsine riots of 1980 in the Bulumkutu area of Maiduguri. When he became the Head of State, a rump of the Maitatsine group that escaped to Jimeta in Yola, in 1984, exploded in another wave of attacks on Christians and moderate Muslims. Their agenda was exactly the same as that of Boko Haram. Buhari sent a military expedition and defeated the uprising. Musa Makaniki, the leader of the Jihadists, fled to his hometown in Gombe and Buhari pursued him there, eliminated him and stamped out the insurgency.

Feel free to replace #10 with - He defeated and successfully uprooted the Maitatsine Islamic Sect which terrorised the North East in the early 80's killing thousands.

Here are some of General Buhari's numerous achievements while in office; for FREE

1. The wrestling of a major concession from OPEC in 1984 to increase Nigeria's oil production quota from 1.3 million barrels to 1.45 million barrels per day.

2. The initiation of a public campaign against indiscipline known as "War Against Indiscipline" (WAI). This policy won him national and universal applause, as a result of its effectiveness.

3. In order to reform the economy, as Head of State, Buhari started to rebuild the nation's social-political and economic systems, along the realities of Nigeria's austere economic conditions. The rebuilding included removing or cutting back the excesses in national expenditure, obliterate or remove completely corruption from the nation's social ethics, shifting from mainly public sector employment to self employment. Buhari also encouraged import substitution industrialisation based to a great extent on the use of local materials and he tightened importation.

4. General Buhari in 1984, was able to achieve 15 percent cut from Shagari's 1983 Budget.

5. The victory of Nigeria's Under-17 Team (the Golden Eagles) at the Kodak World Cup Soccer Competition in China in August, 1985.

6. Even as a Military Head of State, Buhari maintained and enhanced diplomatic relations with all countries and international organisations such as the OAU, UN, OPEC, ECOWAS and the Commonwealth of Nations. He also honoured all treaty obligations entered into by previous governments.

7. The freezing of accounts of political parties and corrupt ex-political office holders in the Second Republic in 1984.

8. The change of colour of the nation's currency notes (except the fifty kobo note) in April 1984 to stop currency trafficking. The exercise rendered almost half of the estimated N6 billion in circulation worthless at the expiration of the change.

9. The launching of the Expanded Immunization Programme (EPI) in May, 1984.

10. The wrestling of a major concession from OPEC in 1984 to increase Nigeria's oil production quota from 1.3 million barrels to 1.45 million barrels per day.

BONUS:

11. The introduction of a new Customs Tariff, which reduced the range of import duties from between zero and 500 per cent to between 5 per cent and 200 per cent.

12. The granting of import duty exemption to only twenty items including agricultural implements, air craft, fuels, lubricants, educational films, technical assistance materials etc.

13. The imposition of a levy on dormant companies

14.The rescheduling of the nation's short term trade debts valued at over =N=5 billion and the subsequent issuance of promissory notes to the uninsured creditors.

15. The procurement of new Air Buses by Nigeria Airways in 1985 to boost air transportation.

Note that all these were achieved in less than 3 years, and his outstanding achievements as PTF chairman have not been mentioned.

Jonathan's cluelessness is a cancer which is spreading to different arms of government. What kind of irresponsible labelling of an independent news organisation is this? Doesn't it portray the NA as a toothless bulldog by identifying SR as a supporter of terrorism within its territory and doing nothing about it apart from getting emotional and hoping that 'the collective goodwill' of Nigerians will do the trick?

My brother GEJ and his gang of thieves seem to live in a utopian world, completely disconnected from the painful realities of life as a common Nigerian. If the money spent on this misadventure was used in providing basic infrastructure like the establishment of decentralised power stations, would it not attract the much needed FDI that in turn would strengthen the Naira instead of window-dressing? They seem to forget that even if you put lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig.
