As long as a skewed quota system that relegates academic excellence then the north has an advantage.

Let me give you an example how this skewed system works

There was a scientific organization that needed 50 graduates to fill vacancies due to retirement of long serving staff.

Owing to quota system requirement, the director general wrote to all the state governors requesting they submit list of candidates.

The northern governors could not meet the least minimum requirement in the relevant field being a scientific field but owing to quota system the vacancies for the north had to be changed to accommodate their qualification and as such the agency recruited admin staff alongside that of the required scientists. The north supplied admin staff.

The consequences of this is that the agency did not get the required number of scientist but got bugged down with more support staff.

This same agency if merit was the guiding principle would have employed more scientists to fill their vacum!

The Catholic Church has washed its hands off the ongoing controversy over the strong criticism of President Goodluck Jonathan by Rev Father Ejike Mbaka of Adoration Ministries in Enugu, accusing him of double-speaking.

The church said it did not authorise Mbaka to speak on its behalf, insisting that it is wrong for Mbaka to endorse the president and later warn the electorate not to vote for him during the February 14 presidential poll.

The church added that it did not have an official position on whose candidate the Catholic faithful should vote for, saying that as the largest Christian group, it is illogical for it to direct members to vote for certain candidates as the voters have the prerogative to exercise their inalienable rights in such a situation.

[size=14pt]A catholic faithful, Mr Callistus Ebue, disclosed this during an interview with LEADERSHIP last night in Enugu.[/size]

He said, “The Catholic Church did not authorise Rev Father Mbaka to speak on its behalf. There is no way the church, with millions of its members, make a pronouncement on who to vote for during the February 14 presidential election. The church does not have an official position in this regard. The decision to vote for any candidate is the prerogative right of the church faithful just like any other Nigerian.”

While some of the Catholics in Enugu argue that Mbaka might have been led by the Holy Spirit in his pronouncement over Jonathan’s re-election bid, others said that the cleric ought not to have dabbled into the murky waters of politics.

The Catholic bishop of Enugu Diocese, Rev Dr Calistus Onaga, could not be reached at the time of filing this report last night.

this your argument doesn't hold water at all.........why no make the cut off mark for the south to be 10 and the North to be 250 let's see how well we would enjoy the quota system.....

Quick questions:

1:Does it mean that attending an institution is equivalent to obtaining a certificate/degree?

2: What is stipulated in the constitution? Attendance or a certificate?

3: Will this now set a precedence that I can now apply for that job I like that requires a Doctorate Degree because I can present a verifiable list of my classmates though I didn't graduate?
