barcanista: So you mean we should be patient with him?I'm saying we should give him the benefit of doubt as this is a delicate diplomatic issue, which requires co-ordination of several offices to handle. There is no proven or supposed motive why he would deliberately put a spanner in the works. Or am I missing something? |
barcanista: We have waited for ove one week yet no official statement from him. If his "hands are tied" then why didn't Tinubu's hands get tied in 2006/7? Remember that earlier this year, there was also a case/allegation against Pastor Sign Fireman that has to do with the pastor's involvement in ritual. Today, fireman is a freeman. He was neither tried nor properly investigated by the justice ministry of Lagos State.Let's keep our eyes peeled for his next action, it would be sad for him to soil his reputation in an attempt to shield a questionable man. What possible motive however, is there for BRF to to allow justice to be perverted by shielding the likes of Fireman and TBJ? Quite puzzling I tell you. |
NgeneUkwenu: Why do you think so?To put it simply, because he is a seasoned lawyer, a Senior Advocate in particular who knows his onions and would not be at a loss as to how to prosecute the offender(s) in this case. He is also a progressive with no patience for sentiments and is result oriented. He has also been particular about building safety in his administration, and has developed several regulatory measures, certification requirements and response systems to avoid and manage the seemingly rampant cases of building collapse in LS. These form part of the reason why i believe his inaction so far is not as a result of lack of capacity. |
barcanista: Up till today we have not heard nor read any official statement from the LASG to know government position and their next line of action. I am begining to assume that Gov Fash is somewhat overrated. The amazing aspect is that Fashola is supposed to be a Senior Lawyer/SANI doubt he lacks the capacity to prosecute TBJ, however I have a lingering feeling his hands are being tied by some powers that be, while that is not excusing his docility with the whole issue, it's a good reason to give him the benefit of doubt. For now. |
Fashola should not allow himself to be ridiculed by these Saffers by foot-dragging on this issue. |
This is akin to flogging a dead horse. What any intelligent person should look for in that article, is an alternative formula apart from population, based on which PU's should be distributed. Anyone can be an armchair critic, anyone passionate enough to write an article in a newspaper should not be too lazy to do some research into solutions, instead of whining like a jilted teenager. |
barcanista: One Mr. Shuaibu Lili and another person once instituted a Suit in a Federal High Court Kaduna against Jonathan's 2015 eligibility, the Court struck out the case on the ground that the 1st defendant(Jonathan) has not declared yet. Howver, such will not be the case should Jonathan officially declare his intention. though the Court ruled that Jonathan enjoys immunity, the immunity is for criminal and civil case and not electoral. Jonathan is only buying time, once he declares...legal war will commence.Yeah, and thats the reason it's possible he is delberately _pussy-footing around expressly making his declaration. As it is now, his candidacy is implied, and is technically admissible by INEC as he is his party's sole candidate. Pressure should therefore be put on him to expressly declare his candidacy for the next general elections in order to block the legal loophole. |
I want those PDP chieftains to follow up closely on this case. We have been surreptitiously hood-winked to accept that Jonathan is eligible for the next elections, forgetting it's an issue that was left in murky waters. Nice analysis barcanista. |
snowprince07: contest for what,d kingship of lagos??Exactly, when his name is not Sanusi Chiedebere Osisikankwu Sanusi? |

Sirniyeh: Three (3) Conditions presented to President Jonathan by PDP Governors which he accepted before his endorsement according
|
Astuteleader: As far as the opposition fail to produce credible character that will challenge Goodluck to a stand still in d poll,Jonathan remains d only option come 2015.Who would you define as credible character kind sir? |
egift: Isn't it funny how INEC place a ban on Campaigns but look the other way when this is happening. If it were the Opposition, their tongues will be everywhere.Nigerians are in trouble if this man is returned next year, I hope part of his campaign is to tell Nigerians the evil deal he had with Governors, which made them unanimously present him as their party's flag-bearer without primaries. |
In any sane democracy, this kind of audacious behaviour will result in a scandal that will see the governors snitching amongst themselves to save their offices, albeit in vain. This monumental selfishness if true, should be exposed to all Nigerians, from the church to the streets, so that they can be reminded ahead of elections, what a wicked, selfish, evil, tyrannical and dictatorial party the PDP is. Jonathan in other words, has agreed to subjugate democracy, and promote rigging and electoral malpractices by denying the people the basic right of selecting their governor, and giving the right of millions of people to one pot-bellied governor. This slap is on two sides of the faces of Nigerians as they will also be robbed of their liberty to choose their Senators. By accepting his unanimous nomination based on these agreements, Jonathan has also agreed to cover-up corruption and promote looting as soon as his tenure begins, by refusing to investigate corrupt practices of past governors. Nigerians must be warned before making fatal mistakes at the polls in 2015. A vote for Jonathan is a vote for oppression and corruption. |
kettykin: Will yoruba wipe out mile 12 or mile 2 apapa or ojota. This is very funny and that under a brutal igbo dominated army that is being accused of crime against humanity in the north. You can check those who committed the mutiny in the north, yoruba should not use their hands to turn lagos into another borno, it would be worse than the Biafra mistakes igbos made 40 years ago. ![]() |
MayorofLagos: In fact the two visits were back to back...While there might be other purposes for the visit, both royals have had a long-standing relationship since Oba Akiolu's days as AIG. Emir Sanusi might also be reciprocating the Oba's visit to congratulate him when he was turbaned. Regardless, I believe only the positive can come out of their relationship as it stands. |

Even Sambo looks more regal. Their royal highness's look absolutely fabulous. This is a continuation of an enduring friendship and alliance. Long live the Kano Emirate. Long live the Lagos Empire. Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria. |
He sounded weak and defeated, but still dangerously ignorant of the intelligence of enlightened Nigerians. I think he's so used to dishing the kind of spectacular tales to his congregation that would turn alice in wonderland green with envy, that he thought Nigerians would swallow his airplane conspracy theory without engaging logic and common sense. What lacks reason at the moment, is why the LASG is pusssy-footing on the issue. If it has been established that the unfortunate incident was as a result of not just negligence on the part of TBJ, but wilful intention to skirt building codes for the purpose of profit, then there is no reason prosecution papers should not be in the final processes of being filed against the self-touted MOG. |
Wrong move. Never negotiate with terrorists. Kabiru Sokoto is not someone who we want to see near any armored tank, their war is based on ideology and giving them symbols of victory for their ideology to boost their morale is worse than giving them an entire barracks filled with AK-47's. |
There's no lie in his statement. Take a minute to think about it. |

cktheluckyman: Common sense indicates that boko haram would never name their sponsors without duress. They will rather die than name their sponsors. If any comment is to be considered baseless,it would be those who beleive Mr Davies's allegations. You only chose to beleive it because it tickles your fancy. Is this why you started a thread asking for the CBN sponsor named by the same BH to the Dr. Davies that you don't believe? I don't think you can be taken serious.

cktheluckyman: So FG is now paying european law makers ni? who knows who they will pay next, may be the CIANo they are paying their illegal arms dealer next. Remember the money is still frozen. |
cktheluckyman: How do you know PDP met with him?Are you now insinuating APC paid Davies to malign Ihejirika and Sherriff?Since you started following politics, who has been pointing fingers at the opposition? Who has been dealing with the European parliament? Who is desperate to divert attention from the FG/Boko Haram arms deal? |

barcanista: this is the height of stupidity from the Parliamentarian. The guy wants to mimmick Davies in the comfort of his bedroom instead of going to Sambisa forest. He lacks understanding on Nigeria's makeup and his logic is so flawed. His position is akin to market women and beer parlor gossips. His action is aimed at diverting public attention from Ihejirika and Rapper Ayo Bling Oritsejafor. But his tricks are dead on arrival. We shall meet with him in Court! The disgraced parliamentarian lacks any character to be taken serious. To think that the PDP went for a man engrossed in a forced abortion scandal in far-away China to push its propaganda speaks volumes of the characters within that party. Birds of a feather flock together. |
Poor attempt at mimicking Dr. Davis. The question for Mr. Franz is how the funds chanelled to the Nigerian government got into the hands of the APC considering the fact that on June 12 2014 at the London Ministerial on Security in Northern Nigeria, the European Parliament representatives met with the Nigerian government, our neighbouring countries and other international partners and agreed on measures to realise the recovery of the Chibok girls, which is the primary interest for assistance by the EP. Therefore, all correspondence was with the Nigeria PDP led government. It makes no sense that I will say i'm going to help you, and then give someone else the money. Furthermore on 21 July 2014 at the EP, the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs was asked what progress has been made on the delivery of the package of assistance pledged by the Prime Minister to the Nigerian Government, to which he responded that they continue to provide support to the Nigerian authorities. The question is why desperate attempts are being made to muddle the waters that are getting clearer about the sponsors of terror in Nigeria, by pointing fingers at the APC that has never corresponded with the European parliament. Nigerians must insist on investigating indicted culprits by Stephen Davies and determining the true destination of those suspiciously purchased weapons. What have we heard of the DSS promise to investigate Ali Modu Sherrif? http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201415/cmhansrd/cm140721/text/140721w0002.htm

This is exemplary leadership, compassion for the citizenry and commitment to duty. I'm sure GJ would have worn double blanket before entering the same room with these people, judging from the way he lacked compassion to visit the grieving families of the abducted girls, instead inviting them for the cameras. |
