Good evening house, just need clarity on an issue.
So basically, I’m in the process of changing apartments and I did go for a viewing. They took my details and Missus’ own and ask about our pay and stuff.
Fast forward to earlier this week, they asked for ID’s and proof of address and details of employer & landlord details. My current landlord I think he replied to their email and same as my COO at work.
Afterwards they asked for employment contract and last 3 months payslip and I sent that as well.
Got another email hours back saying they needed to see last 3 months account statement showing salary being paid. Had to drop a mail for my bank asking if they can send that to my address because Monzo allows me to either generate for June or all time statement.
Told Missus about it and she’s not a fan of being pushed around that much and she told me these requests are really off. I felt that way too because my current apartment, all I had to do was show proof of residency and that was it.
These new guys have ran credit checks and asked for literally everything. It’s not like I’m applying for a mortgage or something.
Has anyone moved apartments recently and is this like the new normal?
Because I can’t seem to recollect people on student visa being asked for this amount of documentation.
Ps; I’m sorry this is one hell of a long read
You are quite lucky that your current landlord didn’t asked for the exact things that this new agents are asking for. The last time I rent a property this was the norm.

They would usually asked for a month’s deposit and a months rent.

Your statement of account with the payslips showing the exact monies going into the account etc

Work contract to make sure you would be able to afford to pay for the property. Unless things have changed over the last years or so, but that’s the standard requirements.

reading your refusal letter again… this is so heart wrenching. I guess these guys are overwhelmed with many applications & they making inexcusable mistakes. The reasons the eco wrote doesn’t make any sense. You tick all boxes & your visa ought to be approved. No genuine reason at all. What again do they mean by credits/ deposits linked to your source of income? This is ridiculous. Did you submit your company’s bank statement? My thoughts is that …. they just need to turn some people down all in the name of making money. 6 months visa, spending 700k might be of no benefits to them economically. I would think maybe the decision could have been different if it were a 2 years visa & maybe you said you were spending 2 million. The UK needs money this period.
I bet you it was just the annual income instead of monthly etc hence the “Credit/deposit” bit from them. Massive error on their part.

They should have just asked if the 11k per month was indeed an error or not.

Africankel:
1. My longest stay in the UK has been 14 days. I've had 6 months and 2 years visa in the past. I applied for 6 months this time.

2. I quoted N6m annually (that's 500k monthly), I wonder where they saw N6m monthly, when even on the application form, the question was "how much do you earn from this job every year". I stated this in the application and a cover letter. My bank statement also shows this figure (500k) as monthly salary deposits. Source of deposit is from my company account. All documents were submitted.

3. Budget for the trip is 700k. This was well outlined.
Reading your “Refusal letter” and am glad you asked for admin review. Where did they get the 11,400 pounds per month from? Am guessing this is why/where they made an error on their part to refuse the application.

Instead of working out your income as annual they see it as monthly, thus your finances didn’t make sense to them. I swear they could have asked you for more details since you have already been issues Visas in the past, this is so shady from them.

Hello Guys,

I just got an email from TLS VI, that my travel documents are ready for pick-up if applicable. I don’t know if this means my Visa was approved.

NB- My biometrics was done on the 20th of April, 2022.
You are almost there, it’s usually a yes when that happens, congrats!!!

Am glad you went with the last page. That page is important as most have said. Hence why it has an “applicant and officials ” signature and date bit on it.

Nope she didn’t need to, once you have put it in and it was valid at the time then you are safe. Ours expired on the 22nd of April. The same question that you ask was how I found this forum.

Exactly, the complete checklist is needed for those who needs assistance services. In my case I printed all pages and they took only last page which is signatory page beacuse i am self service applicant other pages are where those assistant service applicant will tick the documents they will upload at the center.
Yep, that’s exactly what happened. Hence why I put the screenshot out there. The last page needs to be signed by the applicant. My wife needed that page. She printed all the checklist page but the last page was the one that they used for her. It doesn’t cost much to make it off and make sure any applicant take it with them. We are talking about Nigeria here.

Aaemeen to your prayers. Thank you

Was your application standard spouse visa? And did you get a Non- straight forward e.mail?
I think the ones that we did is different. Yours is settlement just like our one. Which usually takes longer to sort out. I think their one is a work/partner/dependant visa. Which is less fees, no IHS fee.

The month of June started with UK Visa for me.

Submission of Application: May 8
Biometrics at TLS VI. : May 11
Application Transferred to VAC: May 31
Passport with Visa Collected: June 1

Note: Some people raised concerns that I didn't do any test of English and that the test is compulsory. I didn't take the test. I guess it's not required.

I wish those expecting theirs success.
Congratulations, amazing news. I think the English requirements is probably for settlement/spouse visas. Yours was probably work/partner dependant. Anyways glad you are sorted.

Good morning All,

So far, so good the prompt responses and quality information I have read here has really helped a great deal. I appreciate you all.

However, I have a question regarding the application I am about to submit.

My wife has just completed her divorce process and she’s been issued her divorce papers here in Nigeria in March. April we got married and I am about to submit my spousal visa application. She’s a British citizen.

Now my question; Is it compulsory she go for a change of name before I submit my application? Is our registry marriage certificate and her divorce papers enough to justify her not having my name officially yet? Needed to clear this doubt before I proceed.

Thank you.
As said already, decree absolute, marriage certificate, you can add a few of your wedding photos on the application as well. Change of name means nothing to be honest.

Just a follow up question, about your wife’s previous marriage (Where did that happen….in Nigeria or UK?)

Amen you would get your result soon, my wife nearly went nuts, Especially when a lady she met on the same day got hers within 3 weeks. But then we found out later through here that there are different spouse visas.

Glad you made the complaint, because 126 days is unacceptable. I can totally get how you feel, we had to move our plan like 4 times, she is meant to be arriving on the 1st of July and you would get your testimony soon.

What a journey!

Thank you for the detailed breakdown May God continue to bless you and your wife.

I totally understand the frustration, My husband and I have been waiting since the 17th January but nothing, it feels good to hear a fellow comrade has been freed from this limbo.

Did you outline all of this in the complaint? And did filing the complaint speed up the process?

I’m contemplating going down this route, I haven’t seen my husband in over 18 months it’s tiring
Yes I outlined the fact that we are as a couple:

(1) That whilst we empathised with the Ukrainian people/crisis etc the fact that we as a couple have been separated from each other for over 7 months was unacceptable.

(2) That they need to draft in more staffs if they feel they cannot meet deadlines.

(3) That we paid almost £4000 to be told we have to wait another 60WD.

(4) That she needs to be here to support me, start her working life in the UK etc as she would need time to bed into the UK system.

(5) I want to know what the next steps are going to be in regards to her application.

I detailed her struggles of not being here, and how the wait has been affecting our plans for the future.

Honestly my wife couldn’t take it anymore, if not for the people on this forum who have been God sent to us, some would come here and update, and the updates reassured her that it’s NOT only us that’s going through the wait.

This is why I said I would come here and try and help from the little experience to reassure people that their would come too.

She cannot stop crying since last night lol.
TravelRe: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Ray7878: 7:22am On May 28, 2022
Okay so, not going to bore you with how it started but a few things to add to everything.

We got married in September in Abeokuta 2021. And I came back to the UK early October.

(1) She did change of name and applied for her passport (Got that at Festac?) sorry not good with names/places in Nigeria.

(2) TB appt was booked for 26th of October after going directly there, and paid one of the staff to book her because we just couldn’t get anything online.

(3) Passport came out on the 25th of October after she begged and begged the staffs.

(4) When he booked the TB we needed her passport number but because she didn’t have one I called my mother and put HER passport number in the bookings, because without a passport they wouldn’t allow you to book it. And thanks to GOD they didn’t notice this. So when she received her passport she just stay over in Lagos and took it to the TB place the next day.

(5) Booked for her English test for 3rd of December (Result came out on the 17th online as passed) - Awaiting certificate.

(6) Application processed by myself over here in the UK
- Documents
A. My UK passport, UK drivers licence, my NHS work contract, my previous job contract (Both showing how much I earn per annum), my house deed, my mortgage statement, my divorce papers, my payslips, my Halifax statement of account (I highlight every single money that was paid by my employers in yellow, which matches each dated payslips) all these covering a 2 years period (Because I moved jobs in September and was paid more than my period job).

B. She provided her passport, TB certificate, and English language test result, Wedding certificate, pictures of when we met in early 2019 and wedding pictures, WhatsApp chat taken from archives from early 2019 up until the application date.

(7) Booked Biometrics for the 11th of Jan 2021

(cool Biometrics missed because we didn’t have the certificate. TLS refused to complete this without the actual certificate, DLH left her certificate on their desk in Abeokuta from the 17th of December until she made a complaint in Lagos when she went there on the day that TLS refused the biometrics.

(9) DLH delivered the next day after 1000 apologies to her for missing her bio.

(10) Bio rebooked for the 28th of Jan AFTER paying some guy that was standing around outside TLS as the TLS staff were unhelpful.

(11) Biometrics done of the 28th of Jan.
(12) Transferred to DMC on the same day and received - 3 greens on the tracker.
(13) Paid email sent in end of Feb by me, was told decision would be early Mid March by a staff named Tanya.
(14) 15th of March second paid email - Told by a staff called Simon that no decision yet. But since ours was settlement it is usually 12 weeks (Which means end of April)
(15) Wife received an email 11th of May to say “60WD is now 120WD” due to the Ukrainian crisis.
(16) Next day I filed a complaint via gov.Uk (The link I found it on this forum).
(17) Tracking everyday but nothing - 3 green lines.
(18) 26th of May - Email received from TLS for collection.
(19) Wife picked up her “Partner visa” to expired Feb 2025.
(20) Received an email from the complaint side saying they have contacted my wife.

I think this was the timeline that I can remember right now. Prior to this I or my wife knew NOTHING about immigration/visas or how to do an application. I found this forum AFTER we put in our application. But this forum has been very helpful and it has been an eye opener.

I highlighted everything that I uploaded on the TLS document website, and they kept her passport. Hopefully she would be here in the next 2 months when she has sort out everything in Ijebu ode where she currently resides.

Lol! Wait until you receive the date for the court hearing. Then wait for your passport to be returned to them if you win the appeal. Then add the time for the passport to come back to you. You just might wait for three years. Don’t rejoice yet, calm down. It’s a looooooonnnngggg journey
I think you are right, I read most of the past 3 years on this forum, and most people with appeal process did take the length of time for everything to go through. I think the longest bit was the returning of the passport after winning appeals. I hope it isn’t the case anymore though, but people can only share their own personal experiences on here, they are not here to make people feel sad or dejected.

This is what we did with our WhatsApp chat, I have attached a screenshot of how we did our.

(3) export chat
(4) Attach with or without media.

It would give you from which year up until the day that you are exporting it. Hope that helps… You can then save it and upload it as your supporting evidence.
