Update on UKVI keep my passport application:

Thank God with me.
Collection TLS mail to drop off passport received 28 Mar.
Biometrics 11 Jan.

UKVI this morning - "decision has been made" and escalation shows decision mail was already sent previously......UKVI promised to resend decision mail, which thankfully they did a few hours later.

Unless absolutely necessary, avoid "keep my passport"!
Am glad you are point the “Keep my passport” bit out to others. That option doesn’t seem like a good one if you live in Nigeria.

If you live in the UK then absolutely because you might need your passport for HR, to travel etc, the fact that a lot of people get stuck with waiting for an email from TLS is disgraceful.

Pls I need your humble piece of advice in here. I am in a dilemma.
I need to rewrite this wrong at the British high commission in Nigeria. How do go about this with my finger print biometrics linked with another name totally different from my real names, pls note I was naive then and misled to apply with another person's details but with my own finger print 14 years ago.
Boss honestly I doubt there is a way around this. Your biometrics is linked to another name! Not sure if there is a way back from that. It’s great that you are being truthful and maybe that is the only way forward, by applying and telling them exactly what had happened in the past, the ECO might like your honesty.

Maybe there are some posters who might have experience of someone who had been in your shoes, I would like to know how they went about it too.

Maybe another country would be an option for your course/studies? Hope you haven’t paid for the course yet.

Anyways good luck. And I hope this is a lesson for younger people who are seeking a quick get out and listening to wrong advice, we all make mistakes when we are younger.

I was not too sure when I saw the news of UK visa application suspended due to unrest in Ukraine so I stop during that time. I pray luck find me
Yes it’s affecting most applications but you shouldn’t have stopped unless you have decided not to go anymore, as someone else pointed out the priority option would have been the best, but they stopped that recently to focus a bit more on the Ukraine thing. Either way put your application in ASAP, good luck and hope you get the right decision and enjoy your sis wedding.

My brother is securing an MBA for me in the UK for me to relocate to the UK. I'm afraid if it's a wise move or I should reject the offer. I'm married with no kid yet.
Why not? If he can secure it for you then go for it 100%. The fact that you haven’t got any kids yet is a bonus. Being married doesn’t stop you. If you somehow finish your MBA and get job offers here then you can always stay and have your partner to join you for a new life, giving you a good start to a family life. Not saying you dont have a great life in Nigeria or anything. But good luck in whatever decision you go with (Wink wink - Come to the UK lol).

Wow that’s a very short window!!! If they get it done for you within that period then you have to be one lucky fellow!!! Why did you leave it that late? Good luck anyways.

After printing the checklist, do I have to fill anything on it apart from the ticks?
Not really, they also would just check what you have against the checklist, they would sign it once they see that you have everything on the list.

The system is that porous? I mean, no document requested huh
The nigerian in me is asking if i can tweak my lenght of stay and job status cheesy
@lexusgs430, any implication? I know today is sunday cheesy
They don’t really ask for documents if you have a credit profile. So if your credit scoring looks good on your credit agencies, then you can get a lot of these cards without much documentations. Some would ask for proof of address (Bills dating back 3 months etc), but if your name is on the voters list then most wouldn’t.

I know it’s really not my business, nor anyone’s, for that matter. But I thought I’d sound a note of caution about credit cards. Please, please, and please, only get a credit card if you really need one and you understand what you are getting into. Nothing ruins lives and dreams in the western world than debt and credit related issues. You see that plenty money you suddenly have access to? Think twice before you touch it, and be double sure you know what you are doing. Otherwise, please stay away from it, to avoid stories that touch. If you however genuinely need one, do a lot of research and avail yourself of the technical knowledge and understanding of how a credit card works before you apply for one. Please don’t join the bandwagon or do it because you see others doing it. Everyone’s circumstances are different, and like someone used to say on part 1 of this thread, it’s not a credit card, it’s a debt card. Thank you for your time.
This is a very good post. It’s always important to understand the uses or need for a CC. I use mine but I already have the cash, so it’s paid back right away. It’s just a way to build your credit profile, and make you more credit worthy when it comes to bigger things.
RomanceRe: Single Mother's On The Increase by Ray7878: 8:21pm On Mar 26, 2022
I met 2 ladies in Nigeria whilst trying to connect with my roots, both beautiful, both around 30 years old. Both single mothers to one and two kids.

Where are their fathers? No where to be seen, what was their stories? Dating the guys, didn’t know those guys have other girls, got pregnant, had the kids, no input from their fathers, no financial, no emotional or any sort of support.

This common theme happens in western countries but you get chased and would be made to pay child maintenance. When I ask these ladies about that it’s non existent in Nigeria, they literally have to beg the relatives or the childrens fathers to help with hospital or school bills.

The sad part is they make those children bear those father’s names. If you are NOT contributing in anyways shape or form why are you ladies allowing these kids with these absent fathers surname?

Pls House Self services or assisted services for TLs does it has any impact on decision making for visits being issued?
Not at all. The individual decision are based on each applicants case/documentation provided. Personally prefer the self service because you can go through your check list, upload everything yourself and then turn up with your passport, photocopy of your passport and checklist for your biometrics at TLS.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Ray7878: 7:37pm On Mar 26, 2022

Thanks for your reply. I didn't see self-service, so I booked a slot at TLS. I paid for them to keep my passport until the notification from the UKVI. Is that alright or not?
Plus, do I need to do a tuberculosis test, as I'm applying for a visit visa?
You don’t need a TB cert as specified in the screenshot below. If you paid for assisted service then print all your documents on a A4 size paper and take everything with you, make sure you take your checklist with you too.

Leaving it at TLS.

Thank you. I've been trying to book TB test online, it's not going through. Is there any other way of booking a spot online?
From what I have heard it’s best to go to the centre and speak to the people around the place. Booking it online is like looking for manna to fall from heaven. You can or not get lucky with dates.

How do I upload myself? I'm helping my mum with her visit visa process, and we are at the point of booking an appointment with TLS
So once you have paid the visa fees and IHS fees you would be redirected to the TLS Website. That’s where you choose which service that you want. You can choose a self service, assisted service etc.

Self service (You get to upload everything by yourself, stuffs like Bank statements, payslips, sponsors letters, accommodations etc or whatever is on your checklist)..

Assisted service (You would print off all your documents in A4 size and take it there for them to check over for you).

See the screenshot below.

Once you have uploaded all your stuff, the only things you need would be your passport, photocopy of your passport and your checklist.

Hello y'all,
I got married in December, before then my spouse had already started his visa application (student visa) so he registered as unmarried. He left about 5 days after we wed, now he wants me to join him in UK.. How would this work please? I'd really appreciate any suggestion right now.
If you guys got married in December then Spouse Visa would be the best option.

3 to 6 months? It is the enhanced one. My friends are getting theirs within one week. Although they paid themselves through ucheck. dont know why mine is taking so long and i did mine through ucheck.
Yep if you are the unlucky one then you could wait up until 3 to 6 months before you get your DBS. I had a job offer and by the time my DBS came through I had already had a promotion at my work. So waited over 9 months for nothing, since that time I do the yearly £13 sub, I have job twice since it happened to me, and my new employers were about to check my DBS within a minute, rather than wait until whenever it turns up.

Good evening elders. If a company funds my dbs for me. Will I be sent the physical copy of the DBS?

Intend using it to apply for another support job.

Kindly assist with information
Yes 100%, is it an enhanced one or basic? Either way you would get a copy. If it’s an enhance one I would advised you to do a year subscription. And register the copy that you get on the sub.

So that in future when any one offers you a job you wouldn’t have to wait for 3-6 months in some cases before your DBS arrives.

Hello everyone,

Trust we are enjoying the sunshine. Sorry to take us back to the mortgage discussion. I am just curious to know what role the kind of bank you use play to help your mortgage case better. I would imagine the bank one uses may offer you the best deal around in such a situation (not all cases obviously).

I think it is a known fact that Barclays have a low risk appetite. I have been using them to receive salary for over a year and what I could get was just a £260 limit credit card to which I have applied for increased limits and they have repeatedly bounced despite salary increases. My colleagues get 3k with HSBC and 5k with Natwest with unbelievable interest rates upon account opening. Though I applied for BA Amex in February and got 10k.

So my question is which banks are most likely to give you the best deals whilst 'generous' with the mortgage amount when you begin to shop for it. make I know if time don reach to carry my banking relationship elsewhere now we are still saving for deposit.
Not sure why your Barclay card limit is so low. How good is your credit scoring with Trans union and Equifax?

What I found out with Mortgages is the bank that you expect to offer you a good mortgage probably wouldn’t. I had bank with Halifax for 17 years, ask them for a mortgage and they didn’t give me one, who did I end up with? Halifax (After getting a mortgage advisor to sort everything out).

You must have applied for the gold Amex card. Was that your choice or that’s the one you qualify for? Because they DO have the 0 fee ones.

Hi guys. Pls I need ur answers .

I applied for a visit visa to go n see my fiancé and got a refusal letter this March .
We are planning to have our trad this June and we thought it’s best for me to apply for a study visa for this September so I can come over , since our white wedding would be coming up sometime in dec.
Pls is it too early or risky to apply for the study visa since I just got a refusal this March ?
If we are able to do our court marriage ASAP.
Will applying for a spousal visa be a safer option ?
PLS I NEED ANSWERS
Isn’t it safer to apply for a spousal visa once you guys are married? Just asking, why were you refused a visiting visa? What sort of Visa does your other half have ?

Hi guys. My UK visit visa was refused yesterday.
My application was air tight - if I do say so myself.
However, the officers reason was that he checked my employers business registration online and it was inactive. I work for a company with over 250 employees
When I checked the registration website , realized that almost all companies register before 2020 were appearing as inactive. The website isn’t updated.
Please house, what can be done in this situation ?
As per their reply to you they are claiming that the company are “Inactive and NOT trading” which they interpret as how can you work at a company that isn’t active? Are this company current active and they are paying you monthly wages? Have you been able to prove this? If so maybe it is their error, because there are a lot of companies whose websites aren’t currently active, that doesn’t mean they are not currently trading.

Maybe you need a letter from the trading company to prove that they are currently active and trading, show them payslips? Monies coming into your account from the said company?
