Well, what I know is that if you are going through 2 European cities/countries to a final destination, so long you are getting down from that Aircraft in Europe, you need a transit visa or a valid Visa. He/she can confirm from the airline before paying for the ticket. Austacus: 1 Like |

Everybody mustn't go to Canada, most Scandinavian countries offer loads of Scholarships for Int. Students. Eastern European Universities have cheap tuition, you can go there study first and later on apply to Canada when your condition improves. It's very unfair to limit other people's chances unnecessarily via their fraudulent acts. |

This issue of fake statements. That 5 years isn't even enough,in my opinion. They should prosecute and jail such offenders, they simply cause problems for other jnnocent applicants. Nigerians need to stop all this criminality. 6 Likes |

The reasons clearly are related to the financial aspect of your application. Adding to what others suggested, I think you should add the following : a letter of support from your sponsor;if that was not provided earlier. Considering your account isn't very strong, you could demonstrate financial muscle using Assets, properties; acquired or inherited. This will also serve as home ties. Also, you should detail why and what your Brother stands to benefit from supporting your education. Furthermore, detail how many dependants he has and explain how financing you would be sustainable for him and not turn out be too much of a burden on him. In addition, you may need to include his payslip, employment letters, business docs etc to show some sustainability & consistently in his financial position. Lastly, since you are self employed you should add your tax papers, contract papers/agreements with your clients,LPOs etc if available. Better luck next time. bennyg24: |

But we've seen people who are even 100 years old get Study permits here and outside. So,the poster speaking from an absolute point of view has already gotten it wrong Truth is, what could count as an advantage for a 100 years old to a VO could count as a disadvantage(and vice versa) for a 20years old, example a 20years old would most likely demonstrate less home ties than a 100 years old. There is some element of truth to what he put up, but an application is all ab9ut profiling in its entirety(age or work experience or gap years etc aren't the only consideration), it's up-to you to counter the grey issues in your profile you think would be a concern for the VO and provide some clarity. The age factor and gap years can always be countered. It isn't illegal or a crime to want to study even if you are 100 years old. top4b: 5 Likes |

They probably are having technical issues, it may drop, if not, then simply print the letter they just sent you as they instructed. This letter they just sent should suffice. Congratulations. SmallerB: 2 Likes |

This your post is confusing. You said she was asked to submit a new statement because the one she submitted online was ineligible? No medical request, so why did she submit her passport to VFS considering it was an online application ? If she applied online, and no call for medics, how did they accept her passport? gg4real: |

It's also fine to use just your savings account if you have enough cash there or you can move the cash in the loan account to your savings if the savings account balance isn't sufficient, it saves you the explanation. But I think an account to show your salary inflow is necessary,it shows proof of employment even better than just a mere payslip. To substantiate your employment status add your RSA pension statement; no matter how little the balance is or other documents that proof your employment since you are eliminated your salary account. If I was you I will explain the 40,000 as a "Mortgage payment" and use both accounts. I think sometimes, it isn't just the balance that's important they want to see some activities and history in the account provided. That's what makes a salary account important. It's up-to you to decide. Follow your instinct, it never fails. Jerido: 1 Like |

"Substantial " means Large, Significant How large is it relative to your balance? How significant is the amount relative to your income? etc. If it's significant and the narration came how you said it, if it's me I would bring it up in my LOE. If it's substantial and you don't explain it, it COULD be interpreted that you perhaps have a debt issue and you are looking for an escape Jerido: |

In my opinion consider the following : Is the monthly loan liquidation amount substantial? What's the purpose of the loan? It could be a mortgage loan, in which case it even becomes a plus for you. How was the debit on the statement narrated? They wouldn't know if you took out a loan except you tell them, the debit could be anything except your bank narrates it clearly as "Loan liquidation" then you may need to explain . If it's a substantial monthly then you could explain it off as a mortgage or whatever it is. If it isn't substantial then no need even raising it,except if the narration clearly says "loan liquidation". Jerido: |

Another way to fix the Heavy statement of account issue is asking your bank to send you a soft copy of your statement of account. Just upload what the bank sends you. The soft copy sent from the bank is always smaller in MB size than when you scan a Hardcopy with a scanner. Note: most ecopies of statements sent by Banks sent via email are often times "locked", so ensure you get it "unlocked " |

One major advantage of Paper route over the online route is this issue of a 4mb documents limit for online applications. If you have heavy documents and you are having issues with compression and there is really no documents you think you should leave out to create space, I guess Paper route is a good option. Once you submit via paper, you link online. |

Property Docs are better off included with other documents under "Optional Docs" column ; Sponsorship Affidavit - "Financial Requirement " column along with the Bank Statements. Phatkings: |

Exactly ,so long it has CAD whether before or behind the digits along with the $ sign it shouldn't be an issue. When its an issue is if you use just the $(without mentioning CAD) in a Canada application ,it may be translated as USD Frankrobbn1: |
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by raymege: 3:10pm On Aug 15, 2019 |
I don't think its even an issue at all. The most important thing is that he included CAD, so they know he meant Canadian dollar not US Dollar. This people know you are a foreigner, hence such minor things are immaterial. If dem go give you visa such minor issue like using CAD or $CAD wouldn't be an obstacle. Use of Grammar would be more of an issue than the currency symbol. There's no application you pick up that there wouldn't be minor issues. The important thing is ensure the major requirements are met and your SOP is situation specific and communicated effectively. And pray for God's grace, the race is not to the swift. Give your best shot and ask God to do the rest. 1 Like |

@bede What you do for a living is actually inconsequential here, so long it's legit; it shouldnt. be anyone's problem or business. How a man makes his money is up-to him, so long it's legit - it's fine. It doesn't matter if you are a CEO or a cleaner;we all start from somewhere. The problem with you post is your insensitivity(she mentioned she was recently widowed - that alone is enough for you to be courteous) and you choice of language. You should be apologizing ,no need dragging this issue it's just a distraction . Apologize and move on, we all make mistakes sometimes. 1 Like |

You do have a chance, you just need to work hard on your SOP and argue your case properly. Ensure the program is close to your past qualifications or your current work experience/Job; also provide sufficient home ties ; assets etc to show the VO you aren't migrating. I have a much older friend, who is close to 50 years and was a Bank manager, he applied for an MBA and he got a study permit. I don't think age is much of an issue,if you argue your case properly. amintacarrie: |

With the attitude the guy just put up here and his other post on Nairaland, it shouldn't come as a surprise if he's unemployed or underemployed. Who would employ someone with such a poor attitude.? People just think freedom of speech is a license to be irresponsible and uncouth. Blema111: |
