According to Nunnally (1998), cost control of a project involves the measuring and collecting the cost record of a project and the work progress. It also involves the comparison of actual progress with the planning. The main objective of cost control of a project is to gain the maximum profit within the designated period and satisfactory quality of work. A systematic procedure of cost control will give a good result in collecting important data in estimating and controlling of the cost of the coming projects in future.
After preparing the reports based on the actual costs, it is important to distribute the remaining budget for the future periods and estimate or re-estimate the cost of the work yet to be completed. Any new information must take into account since the commencement of contracts.
It is important to ensure that there should not be any under claim or over claim of the work done. This is required to maintain a steady cash flow. Also it helps the client and the contractor to manage their expenditure and income.
The cost control techniques generally used in construction projects are: Cost Value Reconciliation, Control of Project Cash flow, Break ¿½ Even Analysis, Budgetary Control, and Contractors cost Control, Cost Comparison, Schedule Control and Asse

In a laymans language, the (BOQ) Bill of quantities is document that shows the cost breakdown of a construction project from pre to post construction stage.

Why you need the BOQ?
The BOQ guides you during selection of contractors for your project.
Now you contact different contractors who all give you their different cost for your project, now since you dont know how much the project itself is supposed to cost, you might end up awarding the contract to the lowest or highest biddest,in each case your the looser.

The highest bidders case: he quotes a sum which is higher than the projects cost and as a result makes more profit, than he should have made and this case you loose money.

The lowest bidder: he could quote an amount which is lower than the other bidders and because you see him as cheap, you quickly cash in and award him the contract.Because the quoted sum has way too low the contractors carries out some sharp practices, cuts corners, uses substandard building materials all in the name of making profit.Which might even lead to building collapse in the near future.

So BE wise today and get A BOQ For your building project.

Now heres what The BOQ means.

A bill of quantities (BOQ) is a document used in tendering in the construction industry / supplies in which materials , parts, and labor (and their costs) are itemized. It also (ideally) details the terms and conditions of the construction or repair contract and itemizes all work to enable a contractor to price the work for which he or she is bidding. The quantities may be measured in number, length, area, volume, weight or time. Preparing a bill of quantities requires that the design is complete and a specification has been prepared. The bill of quantities is issued to tenderers for them to prepare a price for carrying out the works. The bill of quantities assists tenderers in the calculation of construction costs for their tender, and, as it means all tendering contractors will be pricing the same quantities (rather than taking-off quantities from the drawings and specifications themselves), it also provides a fair and accurate system for tendering

oga hussle,

it gets more and more interesting. you did the job in 2015, you do not have soft copies of the drawings used [though you somehow still have hard copies lipsrsealed]

everything you post makes you look more and more amateurish. you posted a picture of a hard copy layout of a site. one single drawing. is that what you derived your 800 million costs from? The drawing even looks as if it was used to clean water
i would have thought at the very least, that you would have posted jpgs from the dwgs or pdfs - instead you give me this low quality scan?

from the drawing , your 800million project actually looks like an aviation depot - something like this [ yes, i just feel like showing off small]
Yes,Something like that And its cost N600M not N800m. The truth is, I just had to ransack my apartment for that drawing yesterday ,Luckily I found the siteplan and that's the only drawing I have, and I answered your question on the storage capacity of the tank farm and the number of tanks.

Can we put an End to this argument. Abeg
Am working on a project , dont want to end up putting N13M in place of N30M.

I am calling you out because you are making dodgy claims. Like I said, our in-house architect does the same thing all the time. He tells clients he is a project engineer. Sometimes the guy gets in over his head and starts lying that he is on oil rig, will get back later.

If you had said you did only the civil, or you did only the basic structures, I could even attempt to believe you.

Here you are claiming billion naira terminal, no bund wall, no forecourt, no loading gantry, no separator pit, no tank base.

BULLSHEEET
For me,I have seen you have never liked me from the start, dont know why you dislike my personality even without meeting me.It would have taken me nothing to call my boss or even google to find out the litres and number of tanks, but I have told you I only remember a few details from back then.

lol.I should not be arguing with you.

Like I told you its been 2years for Godsake,How will I remember what I did IN 2015 ,Through i left somethings out but that doesnt take away the fact that i did the BOQ for a tankfarm. when its not my specialty. My expertise is building only and that's what I have stuck to. Only had s stint in heavy engineering during my time at FAAN.

WHETHER YOU BELIEVE OR NOT WHAT I KNOW IS THAT I HAVE DONE IT.For 3 different Oil and gas companies.

So? We engaged TLD to design our proposed terminal. Running into billions. Multiple teams. And here we have you, a QS of undermined years of experience, claiming you single handedly did the review, proposal, scope and boqs for a billion naira project.

And you are the same person pretending to be an architect for hussein.

I can also forward the entire feed documents from TLD and claim its from me.

Our in house architect runs the same scam well. Tells clients he can do everything, then raids our old drawings and boqs, tweaks and presents as his own.

No be today them dey do that format.
Well that's your in house architect,I can take you FAAN when your free to see my former bosses yourself then you can I ask or I can message you their numbers.

Dude, your forwarding the bill means absolutely nothing. The fact that you even say bill rather than bills is enough cause for doubt.

I can easily share any document from my office and claim as my own.

Your claims do not match your attitude. A person working on projects of that magnitude would not be doing 'hussle' as you called it.

It also does not match your LinkedIn profile which indicates you are in a real estate company.
IF I forward the bill you would see the date, year 2015 and time it was sent to my BOSS.

The hussle thing started recently. As at 2015 I worked at Federal Airport Authority Nigeria (FAAN)as an assistant QS.So me Preparing a billion Naira BOQ dosent mean money go enter pocket. And if you dont know mainly QS firms work in teams. At FAAN its a QS To an OGA,OR 3QS's to an OGA.

Pls dont come and put sand in My Garri on Nairaland.
