Food / Re: 4 Fruits Nigerians Don't Know The English Name by Raypawer(m): 5:30pm On Jun 25, 2016
This fruit is called udara

sugardad1:

4. African Star Apple
Try searching for African star apple on Google and watch the search engine struggle to come up with results. But search for “Agbalumo” and watch Google turn to superstar with numerous results. This is because Nigerians only know this fruit as Agbalumo, not as the African Star Apple.

bro better go learn c#, java or golang as you will be able to develop native android with any of them, deliver youself from the shakel of php, this and many more will happen in the future if you still dwell only on php.

ClintonNzedimma:
Good morning ProgramLanders.
I would like to know if its possible to develop simple android apps with PHP as backend, HTML and CSS, JAVASCRIPT as front end?.
It will be a non-server side app but the app will make use of XAMPP in the local host just like PC to interact with PHP.
I want to develop the app for my Computer Science department in school and i dont code in Java or C++ yet

Business / Re: Facebook Now Charges In Naira. Awesome! by Raypawer(m): 12:12am On Jun 18, 2016
they would'nt do that cos now the banks are left to source for their doll, so no bank will answer any foreign coy say change, i see even paypal bowing to naira

socialmediaman:
This may not be exactly Good News Yet, Read Why

Amazon has been accepting payment conversion in Naira for at least 2 years now (i first used it in 2014), the problem still is that they will bill you the naira but demand the money in USD equivalence from your bank (usually high).

Bottom line is that Nigerian banks will still require customers to use USD debit cards to make purchases from foreign companies like Facebook because they pay these companies in USD. Except of course foreign exchange ceases to be a problem for the banks.

bla... Job do you know what is called Job? that because Most of Nigerian Programmers are just too lazy to use what is right, the few that are trying to start something are just to lazy, so they tend to use what is simplest forgetting that the disadvantages are more than the advantages. Mind you most of Nigerian University Portals are on c# asp.net, about 97% of banks uses c# asp.net for their transaction, even atm uses c# angry, Exxon Mobil Uses Java for their HardWare and JSP for their web app sad, i mean check out, etisalat, NYSC, just to mention but a few, there is no company out there that is doing something serious with Security Consciousness will ever dream of php, its just a wack, have you ever asked yourself, why did facebook stop using PHP why did google move youtube from php to phython?? why is the so called wordpress planning to move from php to javascript Dude, do favour yourself while you may, if php is the only code you can write, then you still have places to go!

GoodBoi1:
I'm talking from a jobs perspective. Just go to any nigerian job site and search for programmer jobs most will require PHP alone or with other languages.

its others first, if you care so much for php, then you can go
dhtml18:

That is exactly what i have found out. That is why i always tell developers to make sure they sabi PHP if they want to survive in the Nigerian market.
PHP first, then all other languages can follow - you can thank me later.

hey man, you code with Go? love the lang so much

pcguru1:

Not really companies use it but it's rare personaly I don't like it , am more used to C type syntax even python don't like it, feels like a Lang for people with OCD. Barely coping with Golang syntax but ruby is just too weird a syntax.

which school in nigeria do teach all these?

Fulaman198:

Thanks for your kind words. It's quite possible to be well-rounded in all aspects of computer science if you allow yourself to be. Sure, you should have one area that you know the most, but you should know a lot in each field to be able to effectively communicate with other engineers of different specializations.

When you go to school for Computer Science or Computer Engineering, they give you a well-rounded education for software engineering and networking knowledge up to the CCENT/CCNA level depending on which classes you take.

If you are studying Comp Sci or Comp Engineering, I advise that you take the general comp sci classes you need, a data structures & algorithms class, a discrete math/structures class, an operating systems class, a compiler theory class, a database class, a network class, and a class for mobile app development.

Those classes give you a very well-rounded knowledge.

Am not totally condeming those video, but what am saying which is the truth is that they will not and will never show you or teach you everything, not even up to fifty percent of what you ought to know, from experience, but as a newbie, u can watch it, i once used them, even when i had a teacher, mentor, so what i would advice you is
- Be Determined to get to the top!
- Ask God For Help
- Get A Tutor, at least the learning process would be faster by half the time
- Read Book, this is where you'll be taught almost everything
- Join Forums, forums like quora, nairaland sha though its becoming childish, codeproject, stackoverflow
- Let Others Review Your Work
- Don't Be Too Money Concious, at least till when you are a big shot in the game, this will help you build portfolio for yourself
- Have A Repository With Github
- Work With Others, join a team of programmers
- Etc
ajsans:

So what's advice will you give to a newbie like me. An advice will be highly appreciated.
