vacanci: i was laughing when i saw NL1960 post when he said "There are people who liked to be called landlords (aka baba landlord) even if they are not really making money from their properties. Once you have a property, almost everybody in your family knows and....."
i didn't know that we have one of them on this thread.
Baba landlord, keep acquiring houses in your name so your family will know there is a legacy you left behind.
by the way, go and use compound interest calculator to find out what N23M will earn you in 20 years while you concentrate on side investments for cash. If you average 15%, you will end up with over N415M. how much do you think the value of N23M house will be in 20 years. I do know that cost of houses reaches peak and the next thing that happens is a curve, just like small letter n or upside down capital U. Just the way glass dey shatter.
abeg feelamong, NL1960 help me if i am wrong with this calculation
Power of compounding is undisputed. I look at this frequently to remind myself of that power.

GonFreecss1: Definitely too much hope. Optimism is good but basing investment strategy on optimism is not a good way to go. did you hear the news about CBN Retaining MPR at 14%? That should tell you something about my basis for "optimism". However, I am not optimistic, if anything. Buying power is the same weather your money is in dollars or naira. Except you are buying a commodity that it's pricing doesn't follow the dollar (local agro goods) But even those are reducing fast! I choose to gamble on treasury bills; it suits my temperament. And I understand it and it's "risks". That might not be same for everyone. GOOD luck |

GonFreecss1: I am wondering, did you ever see me say "do not buy Tbills?"
This is why I dislike advising Nigerians. They become hostile towards the truth. The same reason why the country is in shambles today.
I just stated some facts about what we are all putting our money in, me included. Also the importance about hedging and the risk of higher rates, inflation and not considering buying power.
Tell me, are we only to come here to discuss how good 16/18% rates are good? How we are becoming richer? Without understanding anything about Tbills? Or factors that affect rates? Or why higher rates should make you scared? It's almost like investing in something and expecting more returns without understanding the implications or why there should be more returns.
I am sorry for saying the truth about our safe investment, Tbills. I am sorry for trying to make people understand money more. I am sorry for saying anything at all in the first place. I can see I might be the enemy to so many people's dreams of becoming rich through Tbills, I apologize.
from your previous post, you don't seem to realize the power of crude oil exports and the dollar earnings from it. When you do, you will know why Nigerian treasury-bills is such a solid investment. Hmm.. In short... When you buy treasury bills, You are loaning government money and expecting to get A cut from their total earnings. So as long as Nigeria sells sweet crude she must pay up! Otherwise, when next she needs money BEFORE her crude sales checks clear, She will be begging us with higher rates! Higher rates don't mean bad for us, it means the government needs money fast! Understand the business you are doing and sleep like a baby. Think of Tbills like building a house that is foldable and movable every year or less. |

In order to tap into the ongoing discussion. Looking at the dollars rate, its obvious that the CBN has been doing a good job of saving the naira. My question is. What is the probability that the dollars rate will remain stable before the general election? Will it be worth the risk? it will remain stable : Buhari needs it to stay that way or his toast! By the way, crude prices are looking OK for now so our dollar income is way above budget.. CBN can keep up with the defense. |

Can't convert to Naira to buy Tbill. Bought at N400 and now it is N360. I have decided to forget it until something positive happens. so you are down 11.2% so what? For how long? Tbills is at 14+% right now. Convert to naira and invest now and get 2% profit UPFRONT. And please stop praying for bad things to happen to our naira - it affects us all as long as you live in naija Reinvest the upfront if possible to increase your profits. Happy investing |

Babygiwa: So I spent the whole of yesterday night listening to the so called Saraki Audio as released by the APC propaganda machinery. The first thing that struck me was the source of the video. One Kayode Ogundamisi a renowned OPC members that supervised the killing of more than five thousand Hausas in Lagos but still walking freely! Instead of diverting the attention of the polity with this video. The APC should tell us where Yemi Osinbajo an acclaimed pastor and his minions at NEMA kept the money they stole and why they had to award contracts without following due process. Can we also know why NEMA under the supervision of Osinbajo failed to distribute 160,000 bags of rice donated to Nigeria by China but left to rot away in NEMA warehouse! Can we also know why Oshiomole sold Sheu Sanni's ticket for two million dollars through Hadiza Bala Usman. And for Hadiza, I have read her rejoinder to Saharareporters.com and I laughed. This is the same woman that has destroyed the nation's port and maritime industry. As a Northerner, I advised that the Change government run an issue based campaign. We should ask ourselves why Polio had to come back to the North after we've won the battle. What has Buhari done for the North in the area of Education and Healthcare??

If the whole of Nigeria decide to choose PDP buhari will not agree. That how bad the situation is.
Buhari is really not intelligent, so if PDP change their name to pqp then he will agree even with the same people in the PDP. He should just say he wants to perpetuate himself in power. But it will not stand.
So if Buhari finds himself in the same position as gej found himself he will rather thousands die than for him to relinquish power because of his "INTEGRITY"

ConciousRapper: I am really depressed right now. Due to the heat I experience everyday in my self contain. I started saving money to get a good 1 horse power Split unit. Now the problem isn't the AC anymore.. But electricity to run the AC. I can't afford to buy a good power generator that will be running the AC 24/7.
Ever since I bought my AC.. Its been hanging there in my room like an Art work. No electricity to run it. I have been sweating day and night praying for light to come so that at least I can enjoy the AC I bought. The worst is.. I leave my house to an eatery, pay for a drink just to enjoy their AC on sunny days. I've been doing it for 3 months now. The nylon on my AC is still there cos it hasn't been used. They only flash the light in the mid night when I won't be needing it. Sometimes low voltage.
I'm damn fade up with this country. I was at accra last week and I marvelled at a lot of things there.. Not like accra is better than Nigeria. But imagine how electricity was wasted there.. For the first time I ignored charging my phone even when the light was there cos it was fully charged.
Coming back to Nigeria, I started regretting.. Now today came as a nightmare. .. As I'm typing this my singlet is soaked with sweat from my body. It is very hot and there's no light
My AC is even sweating too.. Reason why I came here to ask y'all what it will really take for Buhari and its government to provide us a constant power supply. How much will be spend to work this out? Because I heard that a small town like Cotonou runs a steady power supply..
Then what more of a big country like nigeria? Please.. Can buhari forget fighting corruption and give us just this one?
I don't care about the naira depreciating. I want to be cooling off in my AC everyday esp in sunny times like this.
So I wanna know what it will really take Buhari to provide us constant power supply in our dear country see... You are blaming Buhari! Have you forgotten or have no knowledge of the fact that It was ATIKU cut HATIFU that ate the 300 billion naira Former president Obasanjo gave him to solve our electricity problem Back in 2003 or so? EMMAACHILE: I know of a local rice mill in Lokoja where you pay N2,000 as at early March prices for parboiling, drying and milling for a 100kg paddy bag. A good variety will yield about 75kg processed Rice. Unfortunately, the local variety yields are much lower as some will not get upto 50kg processed bags from a 100kg paddy bag.
I was told the machines can also destone but i cannot confirm that. Most small scale people use the common rice sack bags like Mama Tomato, etc. Another thing i noticed is that most farmers in this area plant the local rice variety and i told some of the ones I met that there should plant the improved type and their response was baffling. "Oga where your own improved variety abi Na Government rice him dey talk?" No be grammar oh! Bring your own government rice if its good, we will buy from you and plant on our farms.
My late dad use to farm some hectares in Benue State in the late 90s and we were always using the improved variety as at that time. We normally had about a processed 100 bags stored in our store and used for years though some will given to close relations during festive periods.
If you must grow rice, buy the improved Faro varieties as i learnt the new upland and drought tolerant Faro 59 for example can give way over a tonne per plot with good agricultural management including use of fertilizers. I see... Thank you very much for your time and help.. I guess I should first start buying processed before growing. Thank you again. |
