The fact that el-Rufai in his tweets abused our Lord and
Saviour, Jesus Christ, and Christians ignored him doesn’t give him the
impetus to make unguarded comments about Pastor Ayo (Oritsejafor) who is
the leader of Christians in Nigeria. As Christians, we respect other
faith and never have we abused the Sultan of Sokoto and
President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs,
Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar 111, who is the leader of Muslims in
Nigeria. The fact that Christians are not violent doesn’t mean he should
go far with his utterances. He is not in a position to tell us who
should be the leader of Christians in Nigeria.”

Can you beat this people? El-Rufai can abuse Jesus Christ but he must not abuse Oritsejafor? Who is bigger? This is misplaced priority! CAN ought to have told Nasir El Rufai what an ignorant man he was when he reportedly abused Jesus Christ. He also needs to take fresh Quranic lessons so that he can learn more about Jesus Christ whom the Quran refers to as Prophet Yisa and who is well respected by any knowledgeable Islamic Scholar.

Yusphull: WHO ARE THE LEADERS OF TOMORROW huh?

In 1983, Bamanga Tukur was the Governor of the defunct Gongola State (now Adamawa & Taraba) and 30 years later, he is today the Chairman of the ruling Party, The PDP..

Dr. Bello Halliru was commissioner in the Old Sokoto State (now Sokoto, Kebbi & Zamfara) and 33 years after he is today Minister of Defence....

Major General David Mark(rtd) was the military governor of Niger State in 1984 and 28years later he is today the Senate President....

Gov. Murtala Nyako was the governor of Niger State in 1976 and 36years later he is today the Governor of Adamawa State....

Ogbonnaya Onu was governor of Abia State in 1992 and 20years after he is today the National Chairman of ANPP...

Gov. David Jonah Jang was the governor of Benue State in 1985 and 27years after he is today the governor of plateau state....

Martins Elechi the Ebonyi State Governor is over 80 years old!

Only in Nigeria is this possible, where the youth of today have no hope into the future! Where do we go from herehuh??

People Deceive People (PDP), 1985, IBB was the president of Nigeria and our teachers told us that Buhari was the former Head of state.. Our teacher also called us "the leaders of tomorrow".. 27years later, IBB and Buhari are still contesting for Presidency.. Its either our teacher lied to us about being the leaders of tomorrow smh Or tomorrow is yet to come.. Who's fooling who?

Some of us ran out of the country, Obasanjo went abroad chasing them, telling all nations to deport Nigerian youths.

Let's stand and fight for our right coz we are the leaders of Today... Pls let all of us employed and unemployed join forces together in making this dream of ours a reality and fight for the unborn. We can't continue like this....

Yusuf pls let's correct this. Its not about who has been in office or returned again. It wouldnt happen if we have a good system running. We have a bad system running since we got independent which still continued when democracy came in 1999, which also has given birth to corruption at all levels which in turn created this high level of unemployment and underemployment. If the system was good there would be no need for the movement against unemployment, would it?

I leave you all for the answer.

FamilyGroup Unveils 150 Virgins To Boost Good Morals by realteflon(op): 9:56am On Sep 09, 2013
A non-governmental organisation, VirginsBride Network, unveiled about 150 maidens on Friday in Lagos to encourage the virtue of sexual purity among females in the country.

The girls, who were dressed in white gowns as evidence of their chastity, also took a pledge to remain undefiled till marriage.

Parents were encouraged to safeguard their daughters from corrupting influences.

Convener of the event, Mrs. Nkechi Odebiyi, told the gathering that the girls were selected based on their status as virgins. She said the project, which was in its fifth year, had influenced more young females to see virginity as a virtue.

She said, “There is no religion that supports sex before marriage. I wish I had that privilege; it was a virtue I lost early in life. I want every maiden to carry herself with pride. When you are a virgin, you are not afraid of disease, unwanted pregnancy, or abortion and your husband will respect you.”

She explained that the network, with the motto, ‘No ring, no sex,’ focused on restoring the pride of womanhood and building strong family ties through teaching and counseling.

One of the participants, Demehin Funmilayo, said she had been keeping her virginity through sheer determination and the help of God.

The 20-year-old said she was almost a victim of rape when she did not succumb to pressure from her friends to have a boyfriend.

She said, “I was almost raped in SS 2 when my best friend asked for my picture. She later took me to see a guy who said I was beautiful. I quickly ran away when I saw the suspicious moves he was making. I fought with my friend and told her I had chosen to be a virgin till I get married, which shocked her.”

She said her parents had been helping her to overcome challenges she had faced in her bid to remain chaste.

A parent, Mrs. Morenike Durotoye, who commended the initiative, said she also married as a virgin.

She said it was the duty of parents to protect their children from the bad elements of society.

She said, “It is important for parents to always show care and concern for their girls. You need to listen to them, get closer to them no matter your schedule. Love them, protect them and let them trust you.

“It is a parent that places value on virginity that will encourage it. It was my husband who deflowered me on my wedding night and when he saw I was a virgin, he was happy, and up till today, he respects me for that. That is the reason I encourage my daughter who is also here.”

A family life counsellor, Mrs. Florence Udu told our correspondent that many young girls fell for sexual pressure because they sought to be loved and cared for.

She advised young girls, who had lost their virginity, to practice secondary virginity by making up their minds to start staying off sex.

She said, “The guys will always come and make advances. Our girls fall because they are made to feel they are old-fashioned. But that is not true. The best thing a lady can keep is her virginity.”

Pastor Moji Awokoya, who represented Pastor Taiwo Odukoya of the Fountain of Life Church, urged the participants to avoid giving in to distraction so they can be useful members of society.

Jonathan Paying More Attention To PDP Crisis Than ASUU Strike – NANS
Posted by: daniel on September 8, 2013

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has noted that if President Goodluck Jonathan gave the same level of attention he has been giving to the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the strike by Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU would have been called off since.

The students, who slammed Mr. Jonathan’s “uncaring attitude towards the future of Nigerian Students”, expressed their dismay with the way he is handling the ASUU Strike and called on him to personally wade into the matter instead of leaving it in the hands of the Gov. Gabriel Suswam-led Needs assessment committee.
In a statement issued by its National Financial Secretary, Comrade Timileyin Ayenuro, NANS said it is disheartening that Nigerian Students in public varsities have been at home for over two months without the federal government finding a lasting solution to the strike.
The statement read in part: “It is sad that ASUU has been on strike for over two months now without government acceding to their demands

“The committee set up by Mr. President to look into the matter has failed woefully, hence the need for the President to personally take over from the committee.
“President Goodluck has been having series of meetings towards resolving PDP crises but he has no time to attend to ASUU’s strike.
“If President Goodluck Jonathan gives maximum attention to ASUU strike as he is presently doing with PDP crisis, ASUU would have called off the strike by now.”

Disenchanted by the effects of soccer maladministration in the country, Nigerian football-loving fans shifted their attention to Europe, where football leagues are better organised. During football seasons, Nigerian fans watch thrilling soccer matches with frenzy.

A recent trend has, however, shown that the passion associated with soccer could come with some health implications. Ironically, it is not only the players on the pitch that are susceptible to injuries or fatalities. People who watch football matches in the safety of their homes or at viewing centres also run the risk of injuries or fatalities.

On the evening of Sunday, September 1, 2013, when many people were thanking God for seeing a new month, 60-year-old Murtala William, an avid football fan, went to a viewing centre some metres from his house at Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos. William’s favourite club, Arsenal, was playing against Tottenham in a Premier League fixture. Although Arsenal won the game by a lone goal struck by Olivier Giroud in the first half, William never lived to celebrate the win. He died while watching the match.

The tension-soaked game was filled with many breathtaking episodes; a miss here, a near-goal there. The match, which was replete with several nail-biting dramas, left not a few fans glued to the edges of their seats.

On Tuesday, our correspondent visited William’s home where some women sat around the deceased’s wife to sympathise with her. The deceased’s sister spoke with our correspondent and shed light on what occurred on the fateful day at the viewing centre. She said, “My brother was perfectly fine when he left home. He went to the viewing centre not far from here. He was well known there. He was very passionate about football. He loved it very much.

“I am not sure about the stage the match got to when the man who sat beside him realised something was amiss. The man told us that my brother would always offer an opinion excitedly on match days. But he suddenly realised that my brother was not talking, he turned towards him and realised his head was on the shoulders of the next person to him. It was at this point that they tried to revive him.

When our correspondent visited the viewing centre, it was under lock and key.

William’s sister also explained that she was not aware if her brother had a heart disease that could have been triggered by the excitement of the football match.

“He had a medical check-up recently and there was no word about a heart problem. But we all know that that kind of problem could come up anytime,” she said.

The woman explained that the hospital did not offer an explanation as to what killed her brother. “No autopsy was done because he was buried within 24 hours according to Islamic rites,” she said.

William’s case brings to fore the impact football excitement, passion and tension has on fans’ wellbeing. On a major match day in viewing centres, it is very common to see football lovers crammed in congested rooms with poor ventilation. Hot arguments and shouts occur during matches involving big teams such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Bayern Munich, Borrusia Dortmund, AC Milan, Inter Milan, among others.

A 44-year-old football fan, Seni Folawoye, who nearly died when he developed a partial stroke at a viewing centre in Surulere, Lagos, relived his experience.

He said he was recently discharged from the Randle General Hospital, Surulere, Lagos after recovering from a partial stroke he suffered in April 2013.

Folawoye told Saturday PUNCH, “It was a match between Chelsea and Manchester United. I cannot really recall what happened that day.

“I knew I had high blood pressure before that day but I had no idea it was such a big deal or that excitement during a football match could trigger a health problem.”

Seni’s brother, Akin, explained that he was at the same viewing centre where the incident occurred.

He said, “My brother slumped when the game was in second-half. The tension and excitement at the centre was very high that day. He could have died if there was nobody around to quickly help him.”

Seni said he would think twice before going to watch any match that would excite him because he was under constant medication and observation.

In 2012, a lecturer at the Creative Arts Department, University of Lagos, Akoka, Mr. E. A. Bassey, died of heart attack during a European Championship match between Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

He was said to have slumped and died during the tension-soaked match which Chelsea won 4-3. It could not be confirmed which of the teams Bassey was supporting.

The same day the UNILAG lecturer died, a football fan, identified simply as Obi, was reportedly stabbed in the eye after shoutng ‘Down Chelsea!’ at a viewing centre at Alafia area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. A hotel manager was also stabbed to death in November 2012 by football fans at his hotel along the Isheri-Igando Road, Lagos for asking them to vacate their seats during a crucial match.

“There are many ways one can die while watching club matches, especially in Lagos,” a die-hard football fan told Saturday PUNCH at a viewing centre at Ojodu, Lagos.

There are also dangers that have to do with the animosity that may develop between fans of rival clubs. A commercial motorcycle rider narrated to our correspondent how a young lady and her male companion were attacked after a late night match at a viewing centre in January 2013.

A viewing centre owner at Ketu, Soji Adelupo, explained to Saturday PUNCH that there are some areas of Lagos that a lily-livered businessman dare not establish a centre for watching club matches.

Adelupo said, “Six years ago when I wanted to establish my viewing centre, I was living in Mushin. But I knew that if I wanted to make it a place for people to watch their matches in peace, I needed to move out of the area. I left the area and came to Ketu because I knew the mentality of youths living in Mushin. I knew there was no way I could avoid violence. They are very passionate and violent when it comes to their clubs.

“Right now, it is not that fight does not break out once in a while where I am currently at Ketu but we are able to control such fights. I don’t allow people to bring bottled drinks or beer inside my centre because I know that will readily become weapons if a fight breaks out.”

A former doctor of the nation’s female youth team, Falconets, Dr. Bukola Bojuwoye, who specialises in sports medicine, spoke on the risks associated with watching tension-soaked matches at viewing centres. Bojuwoye said it would not be surprising if someone with a heart problem suffers a heart attack during matches with high stress level.

He said, “What you must understand is that everyone has his own medical peculiarity. But an increase in tension will automatically bring about increase in heartbeat rate which in turn puts pressure on the heart and may trigger a heart attack. For instance, I will not watch a football match that will increase my stress level because I know what impact that may have on my heart and blood pressure.

“The fact that people watch some of these matches with others at viewing centres may increase their risk of suffering heart attack because anxiety may be transferred from one person to another. It is not that watching a match alone at home does not have its risks. For instance, what if one suffers a heart attack when no one is around?

“There is the need for people to go for comprehensive health checks regularly to know the state of their cardiovascular system.”

However, Saturday PUNCH findings showed that Nigeria is not the only country where watching football comes with attendant health risks.

In Europe and the United States, football-induced heart attacks are already getting the attention of medical researchers.

PoliticsAsari Dokubo: President Jonathan Is Too Weak, And Incapable As A Leader by realteflon(op): 11:22pm On Sep 05, 2013
Asari Dokubo And President Jonathan
The President of the defunct Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, Alhaji Mujahedeen Asari- Dokubo, once again took a swipe at President Goodluck Jonathan, stating that the Nigerian leader is a disappointment to the Ijaw ethnic nationality.
Asari-Dokubo said Jonathan is weak and unassertive as a leader.
The ex-militant commander, who was reacting to the latest crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which has led to the factionalisation of the ruling party, lamented that Jonathan could not take bold and courageous steps to tame the dissidents.
Asari-Dokubo, who spoke in a telephone interview with our correspondent, regretted that Jonathan could not act like a typical Ijaw man, who is famous for boldness and exceptional courage.
He asked the President to be guided by an Ijaw famous saying, “Ama Doko Doko Biokpo,” which he interpreted to mean “small, small towns but they are very courageous and keep hope alive.”
Asari-Dokubo said he was unimpressed by “what he called poor response” to the crisis rocking the PDP by the Presidency and advised Jonathan to emulate former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who confronted and dealt with the dissidents in the party during his tenure.
He recalled how Obasanjo allegedly wielded power to quench the insurgency led by a former Delta State Governor, Chief James Ibori, within the PDP, against his re-election in 2003.
To this end, he asked Jonathan to stop further peace talks and negotiation with the dissident governors and their collaborators, including Obasanjo and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.
He said Jonathan only needed to sit up and demonstrate uncommon courage to subdue his political enemies, adding that the crisis was orchestrated to frustrate his second term ambition.
Asari-Dokubo decried the recent statement credited to Abubakar Gumi that the killings in the North would stop as soon as Jonathan renounced his second term bid, adding that the cleric and his co-travellers were cashing in on the weakness of the President.
He nonetheless expressed the conviction that the plot against Jonathan would fail.
He said: “Jonathan is disgracing the Ijaw people and people of the South-South by negotiating with these dissidents. I am terribly annoyed by the way he is handling this issue, he is a disgrace. If he cannot withstand them he should tell us because there is no basis for negotiation.
“This is the time for Jonathan to act like an Ijaw man and he should stop disgracing us.
“Jonathan should hit them and he should tell us if he cannot hit them so that we can help him to hit them mercilessly. I have the potential to hit them hard. It is on record that I once held Nigeria hostage and Nigeria could not produce oil for 48 hours and my activities forced the prices of crude oil globally to rise by $30 one day. It was unprecedented and I can repeat it.
“The plot against Jonathan will surely fail but the President should be decisive with these people once and for all. Jonathan should assert himself as President and put these people where they should be. Obasanjo, who is leading these people did two terms and he plotted a third term.
“There should be no negotiation with dissidents. It should be total war, no retreat, no surrender and let us see who will run first. There is time for peace and there is time for war. This is the time to go into war.
“Jonathan should know that this is the time for war and if he cannot sustain the war, we will help him to sustain it. How many governors attempted to frustrate Obasanjo? Ibori and others were united behind Atiku Abubakar to frustrate Obasanjo and they failed because Obasanjo was strong, assertive, decisive and courageous.
“Jonathan should be strong to deal with them but whether he is strong or not, we are ready to support and stand by him. It is not a one-man battle but a total war and they must be totally vanquished.”
Besides, Asari-Dokubo asked Jonathan to hand over the Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, to the ex-fighters in the Niger Delta for a decisive action.
On Amaechi, he said, “Let the security men step aside and let us see how Amaechi can come to Rivers State. Amaechi should not be protected because he has betrayed the collective interest of the Niger Delta.
“Jonathan should be decisive and look at the other way and allow us to stand on the streets for 24 hours and we will see whether this madness by Amaechi will not end.”

The drama is unfolding and we are on lookers. This may make those apologist of an indivisible Nigeria to have a rethink. I have maintained that Nigeria is a false arrangement which can be corrected by taking simple rational and logical steps; but successive governments have been adamant on the need to practice true federalism. The Nigeria state as it is presently is a huge promise for looters who are prepared to exploit the weak institutions to their selfish advantage. The presidency is so lucrative hence all the jostling. These political gladiators do not have the interest of "Nigerians" in what they are doing. Their aim is to get there and loot the treasury dry before any possible recession which is in the horizon. The country is simply not working and no body cares a hoot except the poor frustrated and bitter masses whose sense of reason have also been so blatantly bastardized. All they can do is quarrel among themselves as they support opposing parties that do not have their interest in the equation. Now I know why Achebe wrote "There was a country". Ride on political gladiators. You are on the precipice.
PoliticsGroup Urges Jonathan To Resist Blackmail by realteflon(op): 3:20pm On Sep 04, 2013
An Abuja based group, the Media Network for Transformation, has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to resist alleged moves by a political clique to stampede him out of the 2015 contest.

The group also asked the President; the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party; and the President's supporters to discontinue the ongoing negotiation with the arrowheads of the "New PDP," saying they had "self serving and ill disguised ambitions."

The coordinator of the group, Mr. Goodluck Ebelo, alleged in an electronic mail on Tuesday that a group of politicians who walked out of the Special National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abuja on Saturday were conspiring to blackmail the President from running for a second term in office.

Ebelo urged the Presidents and his loyalists in the PDP to resist what he described as a treacherous act masterminded by those with presidential ambition.

CrimePolice Arraign Woman Who Killed Three-year-old For Vomiting by realteflon(op): 2:27pm On Sep 04, 2013
A 21-year-old woman, Rebecca Bassey, from akwa ibom has been arraigned before an Ebute Meta Magistrate's Court, Lagos State, for allegedly killing her husband's niece, Deborah Bassey.

PUNCH Metro had reported on August 2, that the defendant allegedly beat up the deceased for vomiting and defecating on herself.

Police sources had said young Deborah, who lost her mother in 2010, had been sent by her father to stay with his brother.

On the said date, Deborah was said to have woken up with a high temperature and started vomiting.

This was said to have angered the defendant, who reportedly beat her up instead of administering medical treatment.

It was reported that the victim started to bleed from the head before some neighbours rushed her to Ahmadiyya Hospital, where she was referred to Orile Agege General Hospital. She died at the hospital.

The incident occurred at Powerline Street, Ijaiye Ojokoro area of Lagos State.

Rebecca was subsequently arrested and charged with murder.

The police told the court on Tuesday that Rebecca killed the three-year-old by hitting her head on an iron chair.

The one count murder charge read, "That you, Rebecca Bassey, f, on the July 22, 2013 at about 0600hrs, at No 158, Powerline Street, Ijaiye Ojokoro, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully kill one Deborah Uduak Bassey, f, aged 3 years, by hitting her head on an iron chair and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011."

The police added that the accused made confessional statement, and although investigation was still on, there was finger print evidence to nail the accused.

Her plea was not taken.

The prosecutor, Inspector Frank Inah, filed application for the remand of the defendant pending the advice from the Director of Public Prosecution.

Counsel for the defendant, Mr. Olabisi Kolawole, urged the court to grant bail to the defendant.

He said, "The charge does not represent the true facts of the case. The scripture says spare the rod and spoil the child. It was a mere spank that led to the death of the deceased. She has been taking care of this child for a very long time."

The magistrate, Mr. O.A Komolafe, however, remanded the defendant in prison pending the DPP's advice.

The matter was adjourned till October 2.

I have contacted NCC and they say there is no collecting body for Movie Producers (who actually sold the rights to marketers) and Movie marketers have an umbrella body that does not seem interested in forming a body to collect monies for third-party use. (Strange)

Can anyone please give me contact details or emails to these Nollywood Marketers
I also seek to speak with a marketer. Anyone know how I could get the contacts of these Alaba or onitisha movie with marketers. I need to speak with two or three on a movie we about shooting

PoliticsAtiku PDP Faction Give Jonathan Conditions For Peace by realteflon(op): 11:10am On Sep 02, 2013
The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rebelling group lead by the former VP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has given President Goodluck Jonathan conditions for peace to reign in the party.

Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, according to Hope For Nigeria, was sent by the group, lay the conditions in a meeting with the President in Aso Rock Yesterday.

CONDITIONS::
1] President Goodluck Jonathan Must step down from running for a re-election as Nigerian President in 2015.

2] That the PDP Must cancel the weekend Convention and arrange for a fresh One.

Shocking as it may sound, it is now apparent that all these noise about change from members of the PDP and APC is only to push President Goodluck Jonathan Out of Office.
Regrettable, the ordinary people's cravings for housing, good employment policy plan, how they want to reduce tje suffering of the masses, change Nigeria police force have NEVER been mentioned or considered.

In the last few weeks, persons from all parts of Nigeria have been gathering at the Civil Service club located along the Shehu Yar’adua express way, Utako, Abuja, ostensibly to collect the Civil Service employment forms in response to a directive from a circular issued by the Federal Government to the unemployed. The gathering broke into a protest a few days ago because of the seemingly endless waiting, temporarily interrupting activities along that route. After long hours of waiting, the job seekers could not obtain the forms, and were told in some instances that the forms were not available or had finished. This led to the protest which thankfully was not violent, even though some policemen got drafted to the scene, well armed as usual.

This obvious tokenist approach to alleviating the problem of unemployment is just not it. Trying to get the Civil Service to absolve the unemployed at a time when the government is telling us it is cash strapped smacks of irony of the absurd: How is it possible to employ when there is no cash backing and right in the last quarter of the year and with what budget? It’s beyond the understanding of those out there in the street. This is no way to create jobs or employment. If the government is serious about creating jobs and employment it must embrace a holistic approach that dissuades attention from employment into the Civil Service.

The best bet is to establish enabling environment to encourage individuals and groups exploration of their latent entrepreneurial skills and talents. This would demand the enactment of practical policies or a review of existing ones to accommodate innovations and creativity in different fields and sectors of the economy. Unless the government gives serious attention to such development policies, unemployment and consequent youth restiveness would remain with us for a time to come.

Unemployment is agreeably a global issue, but a number of countries have evolved policies that have not only halved their unemployment rates, but look to curtail future economic crises that would result in the reawakening of the scourge in unacceptable proportions. There is need to be proactive in this particular regard, as our army of unemployed grow, so do our fears of the resultant insecurities. Nigeria has seen and is still witnessing the result of government negligence and/or lackadaisical attitude to issues in the high spate of kidnappings for ransom, recruitment into insurgency activities and assassinations. The list goes on.

Economic revival in all its ramifications is definitely what we need. It should be beyond imported Bretton Woods’ ideas to something that must situate within our peculiarities and circumstances. We believe that there are ideas out there worth exploring, but which out of wrong attitude we choose to ignore them. We suggest that to start a sincere economic revival, we need to revisit those failed industries and provide them in all sincerity with the required interventions, not just on paper, but in all practicalities. Anything short of this will lead to a lot motion without movement and the next protest from the unemployed may not be that peaceful again.

"National Association of Unemployed Graduates"..to hold first Meeting in Lagos....
Good one bros. Remember we are fighting for a collective thing not individual thing. When you meet on 7th consider changing the name to "Movement against unemployment in Nigeria" (MAUN)

For graduates to have adopted this measure it shows you we have all killed our pride for our future. See our our government waste money on unproductive things without any plan for school leavers. Pls what of ABUJA. Can someone link me to abuja group.

Lastly I strongly suggest the name be change to "Movement against Unemployment in Nigeria" (MAUN)
