Politics › Re: Why FEC Rejected Amaechi’s N3.7bn Security Proposal - Leaked Memo by redcliff: 2:02pm On Apr 01, 2022
soojar:
The way some people reason on this forum, I wonder who they are in real life.

So you think this project should have been given to a company that doesn't even know the names of the equipments it's going to use? Chai!

Common sense should tell anyone that there is no security anything anywhere they are installing. This is the way projects are normally approved in Nigeria but this particular one was rejected maybe Ameachi did not carry some people along.

In case you are not getting it, let me point some things out to you, forget about the experience of the company for now (even though it matters a lot)

1. What is the brand name of the equipments so that we can look up the company that produce them or is it the 2 years old company that manufactures the equipments

2. What does each part of the component of the equipment do? Which one is camera, how does it operate, which one sends signal or alert, how does it operate. Which one fires warning shot at advancing bandits grin(if there is anything like that there)

3. Who are the personnel that will be responsible for this project, can they be trusted not to compromise with terrorists to go sell the anti whatever installed in the equipments to terrorists?

As someone who has been involved in several business negotiation processes (maybe a few tens of millions), I have a lot of questions to ask whoever is presenting this shoddily put together proposal. Not to now talk of of BILLIONS of naira and people's lives at stake.

Now back to your analogy, so you will be comfortable to give all your life savings to a mason who has never built any kiosk before, doesn't even know the name of equipment he will use in plastering or how it works while also asking you to give him 100% payment upfront to build house you will sleep with your family? Think about that.

If this is the way majority of Nigerians reason then all hope is lost on that country
you who claims to have been involved in a busiiness negotiation process before. I am sure that there have been negotiations you have engaged in, without experience but the conviction and know-how that you can deliver the job once awarded to you. There is always a start. The company may have had the know how but not the experience. How they put forth that know-how for the awarding of the contract was left to the awarder to decide. however, I would not rule out the fact that they may have had the know-how for implementation. periodt!

The truth is gradually coming out. Amaechi was crying out that they refused to approve N3.7B for him but failed to tell us the reason. He introduced a two years old company to handle a N3.7B project with no prior records of handling similar projects and still requesting for upfront payment.

And he will want us to believe that he doesn't like money
after na una go come out from interview dey angry say the employer dey find 10years experience and you had little or non. asking why people are not given chances? did the age of their company matter in delivery of the said equipment? most likely not, could they have delivered? maybe yes but you would never have found out if you used their age of their company to screen them out. Abi no be this same Nigeria una dye cry for opportunity to do something and not seeing one? or no be one day person dey start something? if they are requesting for upfront payment, is that not the way to do it? abi they should use their money to do it and be owed by the govt? if it was you who was in their shoes, what would you have done differently?

Nairaland General › Re: This Is What Will Happen If Nigerians Are Allowed To Defend Themselves With Guns by redcliff: 10:02am On Apr 01, 2022
Nazgul:
I agree with the op.

Nigerians are psychologically damaged to handle guns, the country would be far worse than it is currently.

What we need is good leaders and we can only achieve that by voting in the right people.
you are still in a fools paradise thinking that a good leader would solve nigeria's problems. except that good leader adjusts our constitution and restructure and or breakup the country (which they never will), we would go in the same circle for decades. Shebi na this same matter Ojukwu dey talk about/proffer solution to in the 60s before civil war and we are still talking of the same thing today without doing anything about it.

Romance › Re: My Girlfriend Sent Me Pregnancy Results And Ask Me To Fund Her Trip To UK by redcliff: 7:33am On Apr 01, 2022
finson:
Good day all,

I was working in Lagos as expatriate. I am married and she was fully aware at the beginning of the relationship.

I had sex with my gf on the 6th day and I pulled out.

I told her that month that my contract has been terminated by my company and I have to go back to my country.

On 27th day I met her (5 days before leaving the country) and she asked me if I am sure that I pulled out on time when we had sex last time and I told her yes and she told me that she is asking the question because she has not seen her period.

When I left the country 2 weeks later I chatted her and I asked if she is doing well. She told me that she is not fine. I asked "why ?" And she told me that she is pregnant. I was very surprised and I called her. That day she told me that she was just joking with me she is not pregrant and we talked about everything.

Last week she told me that she is pregnant. She shared with me a test results on a paper where the date of the pregnancy perfectly matches with the date we had sex.

She told me that if her family is aware of the situation they will disowned her and she immediately shared with me some requirements to apply for a job in UK where 2 million NGN are required and she asked me for support. She also deleted the image of the tests results.

When I asked her to share with me she told me that she does not want me to be in trouble if my wife see that document in my phone. I insisted to get a copy and I told her that she can be assured I will not keep it in my phone. She shared back the document after cropped the letterhead. I insisted to get the full copy and she sent another one after striketrhoughed on her name.

I told her that I don't think in Nigeria the only option available for a woman who gets pregnant is to travel to UK even if her family will disown her. I understand that the situation is not comfortable but there could be other options. Even this process to go to UK can be unsuccessful, and if it is the case, this amount of money would have been lost.

I am not from Nigeria and this story seems suspicious to me. I am currently abroad, there is no way I can verify what she is telling me. I don't also want to open it some of my friends there.

To be honest, I never planned after I left the country to cut communication with her or to support her. But I prefer to support her whenever I have the opportunity to do. I don't know now if this story about the pregnancy is true or not.

If you have any experience in this kind of situation please share with me. Any advice is also welcome.
Please don't judge me.
Lol. I can see you are not Nigerian. She wants to milk you. Its their typical behavior. Tell her that you will want to keep the child but that she will have to go and do another test at your "doctor friend's" hospital. After that, that you will also want a paternity test. Watch her block you after you drop these two bombs on her. Lol

i can see that some people here are very fullish. You are here praising a consulate this big. Tell me, how can it be that in a third world country like Nigeria, they are building their biggest consulate in the world, nobody has even asked them how and why they are doing that. you guys have failed to realize that the US govt through its embassy has made a killing from Nigerians with their visa fees. Go to their embassy as early as 5am, and see how much of a marketplace that is. Mind you, that is the money they are using to build their biggest embassy in the world.

Kai Nigeria which way?!

A little force especially with internal security would displace this bandits but I wonder why we keep treating them with kids glove

Is it because of Fulani/Hausa Nepotistic sentiments or International sanctions from America and European hypocrites that is stopping us in using full lethal forces including massive air raids... Aerial bombardment.. Full missile attacks... Chemical weapons

That was how the sub Saharan bandits ended up killing Chadian President.. Now they are close to Abuja and already in Kaduna

I feel terribly sad, heart-rending to say the least. How did this slip off our hand? This Ghanian team is rusty and to think a star-studded team like Nigeria struggled to win a tie beats me.

Oshimen was outstanding!! The only positive thing in the game was Oshimen.

The problem bedeviling this team over time has been the goalkeeping department. They have been surprisingly abysmally poor! The say way we were ousted against Tunisia.

If we had a good keeper, it would have been fair. We dwelt more on individual brilliance at the expense of a technical team.

Was there any target this man didn't meet...this man took us from the scraps after a local coach undecided, Sunday Oliseh dismantled the team into pieces. He made us good again, he made us believe, he brought the best out of players like Iwobi, Iheanacho, Ighalo, etc...we qualified to the "2018 WC Russia" in style beating the then Africa champions Cameroon 4-0 at home, beating Algeria 3-1 at home also.

We also played well in the WC compared to other African teams, although we didn't make it out of the group stage (solely because of Argentina and Messi) but we played with confidence.

We also played well in the 2019 AFCON but we were just unlucky to finish third after losing in the semi finals to eventual winners Algeria. The fact that Nigeria was one of the favourites to win this year's AFCON was because of what Rohr's side did in the past.

Now we the officially the laughing stock of Africa that 1-0 win against Egypt was a curse in disguise.
Una mumu never do to move forward? Nigerians always retrogressing "forward". That is how everybody thinks Jonathan was a good option than Buhari forgetting that Jonathan was quite incompetent himself...

The moment, the young people in Nigeria realize that they need to support their tribal champions for a breakup the better. Nigeria is not a country and would never be. Nnamdi Kanu might be extreme, but he is a means to an end. in the quest for a breakup, there is no right and wrong way. The only way is consistency. If there is no breakup, in 50years, we would still be saying the same story. The ojukwu many people are castigating now, mapped out the perfect solution for Nigeria's progress in the 60s, today we are still talking about the same thing. How Ironic.

There are many educated illiterates in Nigeria and these are not even the old people, the very young ones that should be thinking at the top of their brains. You will never know how bad you have it here until you travel out of this hellhole.

I repeat, Nigeria is not a country. just watch as some Mumuni Alao people go still quote me telling me how much of a rubbish wey i dey talk. Under this current setting, even if Jesus come run our affairs, he would fail. its that bad.

I always tell people that Nigeria is at war they are always telling me that I do not know what I am saying. they are talking so because the war has not come directly to their door steps. Tell me where them dey bomb rail line anywhere in the world if not be war zones. Europe's strategy in war times is to bomb their rail lines so that the enemy cannot pass through the rail system. Nigerians, you are at war, dont let anyone tell you otherwise.
