An understandable decision given the circumstance. Sadly, a heartbreak for a few outstanding players worthy of Ballon d’Or this season, and perhaps a sigh of relief from the two GOATs. Realistically none even came close.. The battle resumes 2021, hopefully. COVID-19 practically sucked life out of 2020... It'll be impossible to forget the ordeals of this year. |

Sirheny007:I understand bro. Actually I wasn't referring to the title you had in mind. It was just a plain comment devoid of any associational award. Pleased to know tho that there is actually an association of that sort with such title. Learning they say is a continuous process. |
Sirheny007:Yet to read Block's work. Just like most people commenting, my assessment was limited to authors I've read. I hope to try Lawrence Block someday. But currently it's Dan Brown for me. If truly, Block is globally recognised as the daddy of mystery as you suggested, then I'm sure Dan Brown would be a very close second.. He's magnificent at mysteries. |
Tough one, really. There're quite so many great writers with different styles and approach to writing & storytelling. For me, in the indigenous aspect of things, I'll go for Achebe and Chimamanda . OMG they're glorious writers! Chimamanda Adichie could literally blow your mind with her ingenious ability to describe. She's a genius at describing even the faintest detail! Foreign writers? John Grisham & Stieg Larsson. Like me, if you love legal/court dramas laced with thrills, Grisham's got you covered! Dude is gorgeous entertainer! Honorable mentions: * Dan Brown (Grandmaster of mystery) * James Hardly chase (the grandpa of thrillers) * Anthony Doer ( Tells powerful stories.. "All the Lights we Cannot See" will get tears rolling freely down your red cheeks without your knowing it!) * Gillian Flynn * Markus Zusak (History master "The Book Thief" was artfully written!) * Jeffery Acher (A gifted humorist.. He could get you giggling all alone with his brilliantly written books) |
AgbariOjukwu1:For fvck's sake, can you just address the real issue at hand.. Tribal bigotry will take you nowhere! |
genius43:Thanks bro. Can you share the Ali link |
Hi guys, My charger just got burnt this morning. Pls can someone recommend Original Xiaomi charger for RN5. Thanks ya all |
micxwell:It looks like I must wait it out to the end. Just a couple of hours remaining. Did you wait for yours to completely run out? |
micxwell:Lol. Still nothing bro .. Dispute to be opened on Wednesday (27th). Can't wait. |
Poshguy2:Hmm. The highest my battery has ever gone down overnight is 2%, and it happens occasionally. |
olayinkajnr:Couldn't have said it any better myself. BlackPlayer has one of the best UI design and interface you'll ever find on android, but music isn't about aesthetics - it's about sound output, and that's precisely where PowerAmp thrives. I can't believe people are still bringing this up, TBH. The music player issue was done and dusted threads back. |
queenfav:Couldn't agree more. My own 1 year anniversary will be due in less than 3 months. RN5pro is a real machine in any sense possible. Will not be looking at any other device at least for the next 2 or 3 years. Now before you start thinking "it's not possible" or "we'll see about that when a better phone at a cheap price comes up", I used my Galaxy s4 for 4 years and 3 months before I sold it. Yes, you read that correctly. What's the point of getting a new device when the one you've serves you PERFECTLY? Happy anniversary @queenfav. |
2kurupt:Alright. Is your bootloader unlocked? Do you have a custom recovery installed? If yes is your answer to both questions, then all you have to do is go into your custom recovery (could be twrp, orange fox etc) and then select wipe from the menu and swipe right to confirm. The wipe won't tamper with any file in your internal or external storage... It's just gonna wipe user data, that's all. After that, you can install the rom. I can share rom link with you in case you get confused as to the exact one to download.. |
Shegun010:Yes! Just don't flash beta EU roms, wait for stable builds. I've always been on stable builds and I get more than 10hrs SOT |
Shegun010:No, it doesn't have that feature, but it has something that does similar job. Just go to Settings - Lockscreen and toggle that switch off and you're good to go. For gestures - Yes, EU roms fully supports Miui gestures.

Reddington:Alright. It's been over 2 days since I got myself immersed in Miui 11, and like I promised, I'm gonna do a review. That way, fam members who are still on Miui 10 or lower versions will get to know what they're missing or not missing. For a start, Miui 11 is packed with some fresh and eye-catching features. Honestly it still beats me why some persons here opined that Miui 10 and Miui 11 are more or less same. I don't get it. Pls allow me to guide you through the new additions on Miui 11: UI Design. Perhaps, the most noticeable change on Miui 11 is the new material UI design. Although icons/UI look minimalistic, it's very bold, colorful, crisp and stylish. That of Miui 10 ain't bad to be fair, but it lacks the crispness of Miui 11. Miui 11 made major changes in the general looks of Rom's UI starting from the boot logo. Effects. Another new stuff is the transition effects - to be fair, it's quite pleasing to the eye and makes the whole Miui experience elegant and enjoyable. You notice these effects while opening/closing apps, navigating through settings and toggling the drop-down menu switches. Very sweet. Screen time. Miui 11 is equipped with a very special feature called "screen time". Now, if you're on android 10, then there's a big chance you already know about this. "Screen time" is very similar to Google's "Digital Wellbeing" feature (I personally think Xiaomi copied this from Google). This new feature basically tracks your activities, giving you an alarmingly detailed info on how much time you spend on your phone (daily, weekly, monthly), the time is further narrowed to apps, giving you precisely how much time you spend on each app. It even lets you set daily screen time limits for apps, individually. That way, you can control your addiction to certain apps and focus on more relevant things. I think this's a fantastic feature. It's one of my favorites. Font. Miui 11 also has a new font feature called "font weighting". It essentially helps you to adjust the boldness of your font without changing the individual font. Also, a new font (MilanPro) was introduced, and it's actually a nice font. Although it has a striking resemblance with Google's font, "Google Product Sans" - makes me wonder if Xiaomi got their inspiration from there.. Game Turbo. Quick Replies. Good news for gamers. With major improvements, the Game Turbo feature is also available on Miui 11 under Settings - > special features. It optimizes the phone's RAM & GPU and readies it for any game, ensuring optimal game performance. There is also a new feature called "quick replies" which helps you to conveniently send instant replies on supported apps. Status Bar. Status bar icons such as network bars appear to have been reduced in size on Miui 11. Network Type symbols such as H+ or 4g now sits on top of the the network bars rather than the sides as the case was on Miui 10. Also, the 4g symbol disappears when you turn off the data (creating space for more icons) and reappears when data is turned on. This wasn't the case with Miui 10. Battery. The battery performance on Miui 11, in my opinion, is better than that of Miui 10. No lies - I was able to squeeze out a couple more minutes (somewhat 40 - 55 mins). I use RN5 pro - so it's very possible that the performance may vary across other models. Thus, my assessment is not definite. To spare you some time reading this annoyingly long post, there're some other noteworthy additions to Miui 11 which I'm not gonna explain further. They include: * Improved Calculator (calculator now supports picture-in-picture feature) * Drop-down menu toggle button for Dark mode. * New dynamic sound effects. * Blur app preview (lets you blur apps on the "recent" menu) * MiShare (Similar to Apple's Airdrop. For sharing apps/files seamlessly) * Improved file manager (I still prefer the file manager on Miui 10 tho) * Ambient Display (Doesn't work as I use RN5 pro) Not sure if I'm missing anything, but these are some changes I was able to spot. The display colour I complained about on Pie is still there, but there is a slight improvement. TBH, with all the features on Miui 11, I'm not sure I'll be moving back to 10. It's just too much to ignore. ![]() The guys complaining about Miui 11, especially the ones planning do downgrade, I wonder if they're aware of all these features or simply chose to ignore them. Miui 11 is a masterpiece and it should be forward ever, backward never. It can only get better. Huge thanks to Xiaomi & to whoever came up with the idea of opening this thread. I bless the day left Sammy for Xiaomi.

micxwell:Lol. Nothing bro... |

Thanks man! |
flawless911:Not bad. Font name, pls? You flashed through magisk? |
Helloooo RN5 pro EU fans, stable Miui 11 just dropped. I'll be updating tonight. I'm giving Pie another try just because of Miui 11. Anything funny, I port back to Oreo. Pie display colour is awful in my opinion, not to mention the inability to use Wi-Fi & Hotspot simultaneously. Tonight it is! I'll review after 2 days of use.

micxwell:Lol. I honestly don't want mine to land... I'm not interested anymore. Just waiting out the time for a refund. |
abdsamad:Yeah, buddy! Can I DM my account number? ![]() |
micxwell:Lol. We're in the same ship bro. Mine is Mi Band 4. I already gave up hope few weeks ago. Besides, I don't even want the band anymore. 24 more days till I open dispute and get my refund. Will be going for a full smartwatch when I get my cash back, or maybe a decent digital watch. Mi band is just a fitness band - I may have been swayed by the insane popularity and great battery TBH, but what I actually want is something classy, smart & watch-like - not a band.
|
adamix:Looking crisp. Not on EU yet. My fingers are twitching...Can't wait. |
eby001:I agree. But MiBand 4 is a fitness band - not a smartwatch. We mustn't forget. |
UdyOgwoUde:You should give credit to Eric Cantona for copying his quote. |
Mfunkynation:It should be. It has been almost three weeks since the item was despatched. Nig-bound items reflects on Nipost web track minutes after getting despatched. |
Johnsonkelvin:You'll have to wait it out. SingPost, right? Shipping has been extremely unreliable lately. Ordered Mi Band 4 from HK Goldway...Stuck on "Despatched to Overseas" since 4th of October. First time experiencing this kind of delay. I've always been lucky with fast shipping. My timing has always been perfect... but not this time, I guess. I can't even track the item on Nipost web, getting "No Information, pls check your item identifier." Also first time experiencing this. I can track it on any site (17track, GlobalCiano, 24track etc) apart from Nipost. Maybe AE old-timers in the house can explain..

anonymousghost2:God. You take jokes that serious? I'm appalled by your choice of words, TBH. My comments were made on the lightest mood possible, but it's unfortunate you took it that serious. I'm very sorry. Just took note of your handle.. I'll be very careful next time |
