Baroba:I'm his media assistant, sir. Ermm, he's still in shock. He instructed me to tell you: "I no do again" ![]() Thanks, gentlemen of the press. No further comment ![]() |
nani667:What I meant was that you can't update via OTA. You just download the update via OTA ... It takes you to recovery, and then you flash the update from there. |
gidieberry:I assume you meant it'll get worse? Yeah, I've been on Pie, and I wasn't impressed, trust me. Sometimes battery discharges in 2%s..Strange. That, with the display colour, convinced me to embrace Oreo. I ported back in hours. |
Drizzle007:That's EU rom...He flashed it. EU roms doesn't support OTA updates. |
nani667:Wow. Fresh material design.. Looking good. The stable release isn't out on RN5 pro yet. Patiently waiting. Miui 11 may force me to give pie another try... Let's see. Rocking my EU Miui 10 Oreo for the meantime. Mind giving us a quick review of this stable release, bro..? Battery performance, display colours (very important), cam and all that. We'll appreciate. #Xiaomi.euForever |

maclawrence02:I use Xiaomi.eu too...have been using it ever since I got my phone. I'm just interested in the content of Miui 11. I don't just upgrade because it's "a new update", there has to be hugely significant change(s) before I do. You may not believe it but I'm still Oreo just because of its superior display colors and insane stability. I installed pie minutes after it came out but downgraded in less than 2 days because I don't like it - the dark mode is cool tho, but Oreo has it too. Until there's absolutely a need to, I may never leave Oreo/Miui 10. Thanks for your review tho. |
salvo583:Is that what you're using? |
maclawrence02:Looking good. Pls bro, can you give us a quick review of Miui 11? What are the major differences compared to Miui 10? Would you pick 11 over 10? |
genius43:Never heard of Amazfit. I'm just saying Xiaomi should consider going full smartwatch mode on the fit tech, or they can accommodate both - designing a smartwatch while also retaining their MiBand series. |
genius43:Sure Mi band 4 is awesome. However my only problem with it is the design...It has this 'toyish' look despite its incredible features. The look is not even remotely close to what you call a watch, which, I guess, is why it's called "band" in the first place. I personally prefer the smartwatch design. Fitbit is what Mi band 4 should be. It's arguably the best... Very popular in the US, but very expensive. My uncle uses it.
|
ityP:Lol. I was going to ask same thing... You beat me to it. |
Gptech:I agree. I've never been really interested in Redmi series. My friend asked me to order it for him, so naturally my interest peaked when I got the phone. Had to compare. The Note series is without doubt more superior. |
Mekanus:Yeah. RN5 pro.. ![]() |
genius43:Yeah bro. That was my original belief. But feeling it firsthand today removed a few doubts that have been lingering from the day it was released. Some persons will still go for R7 tho. |
Ordered Redmi 7 for my Infinix friend... Arrived yesterday after 15 days. He's absolutely loving it. Personally noted a few things tho during unboxing (which I made sure my fairly noob friend didn't notice, to avoid dampening his joy). I use Redmi Note 5pro, and I can confidently say RN5pro is a better phone, both in display and support, having felt both phones. I'm not a fan of notch which happens to be the only design feature missing on RN5 but present on R7. Both phones have same camera pixels, but RN5 produces sharper images... And some other slight differences like absence of front flash & notification light in R7. RN7 has software advantage tho - comes with pie OS out of the box. RN5 - Oreo. I hope this info will be helpful in the future for prospective Xiaomites who may find theirselves torn between RN5pro and R7.

ORIJIN201:Nice shot plus great angle, but poorly edited.. Colours lack clarity. Very deem. |
Realboygenius:Nice view but the pic looks washed out probably due to overexposure... Poor saturation... Doesn't look natural. Still a nice shot tho. |
genius43:UC browser is a faster download tool in my opinion... |
genius43:One of the major problems of Mediatek soC is lack of development... Don't expect much on custom rom dev... App porting (like Gcam) etc. |
genius43:Sure, man . The phone is what you call machine ![]() Upgrading is very far away from my plans for now. ![]() |
Redmi note 5 pro. NL took away a huge chunk of quality, sadly.

2kurupt:Louder, pls. Some would even finally settle for MIUI secretly after hopping from one AOSP rom to another. Have been using my RN5 for almost a year now... Flashed Xiaomi.eu (pure miui) rom the day it landed - smoothest, cleanest rom ever. And switching to a different rom isn't even in my wildest plans. I used Samsung for 5 years plus (Galaxy S2, S4 & S5) before switching to Xiaomi, and in those years I flashed a lot of custom roms (from Omega rom to Paranoid android to Resurrection Remix to AOKP rom to PACman rom etc). And I learnt one thing: NO custom rom will ever be as perfect as the original roms from OEMs! Forget customizations. There is always gonna be bugs here and there compared to original roms. There's always something the original rom does excellently that custom ones don't. Don't forget that most of these guys creating custom roms are just like you and me.. They do it at their leisure times without much critical considerations. They're not really professionals compared to the OEMs who created One UI (previously Samsung Experience and Touchwizard) for Samsung devices, Miui for Xiaomi devices, Oxygen OS for One plus devices.. The list goes on.. Look, guys if you can, stick to Miui..It was specially designed and created for Xiaomi phones for a reason. However if you can't control your urge to explore customisations & the urge to always be ahead of others, then AOSP roms (and some very customizable miui-based roms like masik, miuipro) are always there with open arms...It comes at a cost tho - random bugs! ![]() |
KoiceReloaded:You're saying the series has Spanish as it's original language, pls?? |
Donkelzy:Google Product Sans. |
Reddington:Finally downgraded. My beloved Oreo is back. I have my display colours back! So happy now. Pie is a little overrated. Same way lollipop was when it came out... Kitkat was always better! Upgrade is a 50-50 stuff. Won't be shifting an inch from Oreo again until Android Q roles out on Xiaomi.eu.
|
Reddington:Mind made-up. Even after few complaints on forums plus my feedback reports, the newest RN5 xiaomi.eu update (10.3.3.0) on pie, still retained the horrible display colours. I no just fit shout... I'll be downgrading to Oreo tonight. Pie is great with the dark mode and all, but I can't stand the display colour...it's beyond horrible. #BackToOreoTonight! |
Drizzle007:Yes, coz you're coming from stock miui. It is always advisable to clean-flash when flashing Eu the first time... It's stated on their website. |
zainkay:Yeah. If you're coming from AOSP-based rom or stock miui, you'll lose all user data, but not files on internal storage like songs, videos, pics etc. Just wipe data/factory reset from twrp before flashing and you're good to go. |
Drizzle007:Lol. You sound like you're new to roms. I manually installed it. Xiaomi.eu is a miui-based custom rom... Just like miuiPro |
Drizzle007:Eu roms are actually ported from Chinese roms, with few tweaks but far cleaner. Eu roms doesn't support incremental updates.. You flash the whole rom for any update. But you can dirty-flash, that way, 0 data will be lost. |

). As for camera, even the Redmi note 4x can hold its own against the Redmi 7 both on gcam). As someone already stated, theirs a tiny notification light underneath the phone, you won't see it if you already installed any tampered glass with black borders. For support, the note series naturally get better treatment, no surprises here.
