12mm about 35-40lengths and he wrote half ton that's about 46 so the number is not bad, but confirm the price with transportation factor.
The 10mm half ton that's about 66 lengths 40 to 50 should do too. All these are dependent on the shape of your building externals.
My estimation are based on straight 72/24 exterior.

It depends on the floor and wall area.
If you have a plan of the building that will help.
If you want a rough estimate then list of spaces will be needed, number of rooms , number of bathrooms etc. Thanks

Truly construction of "Parapets" are quite expensive, but the quantity and price of materials are a bit inflated, labour as well though it's dependent on the site conditions.
But I think you can do purchase of materials yourself and pay them to do the job. Tell him to cut the quantity to moderate or you buy 75% of what he wrote.

For example; from 72/24 you wrote as the building dimension, the approximate perimeter of your house is 58m, this might vary if there are wall projections and depressions.

The 1*12*12, if you have 3 boards per section of profile that will make it 54 boards, at worst 4 boards per section of profile that's 70 boards
Then boards a re sold at 1,200, you will get 1,000 or even 900 depending on your location.
70* 1200 is 84,000. @1k is 70,000
54* 1200 is 64,800. @ 1k is 54,000
Then add sawing and transportation.

Cement 50bags should cast it, but even at 65bags
Cement is about 2,400/2500*65is 156,000/162,000
Then you add transport
Just cross check.

We can also affix 60*60 on walls.

Before, During and after... Mall floor and Column tiling.

Its been suggested that i would need 40 bags of cement for the job? I feel thats excessive but i want some input please

If it's wall tiling, you will need about 30-40
If it's floor tiling 25bags, depending g on how well prepared the surfaces are.

This is no technical question now, the nearest building material market can answer your question. And the pricing is relative depending on your location and "pricing-ability".

Labour varies from 250-450 naira per sqm depending on the total area and where to be screeded

For interior screeding, we use POP cement, POP emulsion and topbond. though there are other screeding materials like PVA and sorts but domestically POP cement and emulsion used.
Cement is good For exterior screeding.

Labour and material together varies from 500-750.

sizes 30*30, 40*40, 30*60, 60*60 etc
Product, China, italy, Nigeria etc
Market availability, and type... If vitrified, ceramic, porcelain Et Al

But all ranges from 1,100 per SQM to 3,600 for moderate of all sizes and product
Then there are ones of 5k persqm and above.

2. Is it compulsory to screed pop, some say it can be painted, am surprised to hear that.

My Brother I will advise u tile first before screeding, it's only if you are willing to touch up the screeding again after tiling because the tilers will mess up the bottom part of the screeded wall with their bed and raw cement water, the tiles and tools scratching the walls and as well with their hands on the wall.

But if you tile first, while screeding they just have to carefully clean up the tiles immediately after screeding, screeding is fast and swift and more like "pre-painting".

As for screeding of POP, I think it's advisable to do it together. while hanging the individual POP cast boards, they use screed to join it, I normally tell them to screed the entire POP and not just the joint. It's just to buy few buckets of emulsion for them. A bucket should do 3 Rooms or more.

But they are two different things. They don't have any relationship. The one on the DPC level is to prevent water capillarity so you don't have dampness coming into the house. And it remains there.

While the one on the suspended slab is basically to prevent excessive escape of water from the concrete thus help the concrete cure and as well ease the removal of the formwork.

Those are two different stages, levels and two different applications. So yes it is.
