When I landed, I gave a relatives's address to a customs officer as where I want my pr card to be sent.
However he told me that they will only deliver the card to me so I have to make sure I will be there when the PR card arrives in 6 to 8 weeks.

I found this strange as I have read here many times that the PR can be collected on people's behalf.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Im here for short landing and I plan to return next year
Hello,

If the address you provided has a mail box, your PR card will be dropped in the mail box. That's how I got mine.

Also, link your PR application to your account so you can be on the alert to receive it once it is approved.

All the best..

You should PM @TEECANN. I think he was considering conversion at some point. Also email CPA for clarity.
Thanks, I sent an email to CPA Ontario already, but still expecting their response on the subject. I will provide an update if they get back to me...

Hello All,

Please has any chartered accountant - ACA here successfully converted to CPA after immigrating to Canada. Did you have to take all the exams afresh or are there other pathways to CPA you used?

Also, with the unification of all accounting bodies into CPA designation, how does this impact the opportunities from acquiring other accounting certification like CMA? Infact, from research, provincial CMA bodies have stopped admitting new members in Canada.

Kindly provide some guidance based on your experience and knowledge.

Thank you so much in advance...

Please At the point of signing ones COPR when the immigration official asks for a Canadian address, if the person is staying in an AirBNB, and hasn’t found his own place, what address does he put?
You will have to provide a temporary address, in this case the Airbnb one. Then if you get another accommodation before your PR card is finalised, call them on 888-242-2100 and change the address. Alternatively, if you have an address of a family member or close friend who is already settled in Canada, you could use that for your PR card because getting CIC on the phone is quite difficult.

Also, ensure you link your PR card application to your account so you will be first to know when the PR card is approved or further details are required.

Best of luck!

Hello Everyone,
Announced my PPR recently on our sister Thread. And i would like to get some information on short landing.

I plan to do a short landing (11 days) and return to Nigeria afterwards.

I am aware of the requirements and documents i need to bring along with me. However, i will like to know if there is anything else i can do while i am in Canada apart from applying for SIN and PR card.
Y
Thank you.
Congratulations.

You could also do some of these;
1. Open a Bank acccount.
2. Get a prepaid line since you won't be staying long. I got Chatr.
3. Check out areas you would want to live. Some estate mgt let you register ahead.
4. Try the driving knowledge test.
5. If you're in Ontario, try visiting the Niagara falls or Ripples aquarium
6. Get a Presto bus card. It will save you alot of money than Uber. You only have to plan your journey ahead. Google map shows the routes and departure time.
7. Take a passport photo and leave with family there just incase IRCC request for another passport photo.
8. Attend some newcomers services. You can register for most online.
9. Get a local Library card.
10. Watch TV and get some rest.
11. Do some shopping.

Enjoy your stay.

Hi, you could receive the card in 3 to 8 weeks but there's a 6 months ceiling stated on their website where you can change your address to receive the card, https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/new-immigrants/pr-card/canadian-address.html
Thank you for your response.

Although, from my research it's around 8 weeks from landing not from when application is approved on ones profile. I am already 55days post landing.

Am hoping for something shorter o!

Hello Seniors,

To God be the glory, my PR card got approved on my profile today. On the average how many days does it take for card to arrive mail box after approval?

Also, is there a way I can verify the address the PR card will be shipped to online or by phone?

Thank you in advance all...

Hi guys
Please I need guidance ASAP. I was asked to submit an additional document (IMM5406E- *Additional Family Information* ). My question are;

1. Do I print out the form, fill it manually, sign, then scan and upload? or

2. Do I fill it on the computer and upload (this method cannot be signed)
In my opinion, fill the form on a computer, then print and sign it, before uploading a scanned copy on the placeholder.

All the best.

You get a letter from IRCC asking you to send the updated passport photo, and you can send it via Canada post (if you're in Canada) or other courier service (if you're outside). Ideally, you ought to still be in Canada if you're waiting for your PR card before making any trips out.
By the way, you get the letter by email, so there's no enclosed envelope for your convenience... smiley
Thanks much for your response, it provided more clarity.

Although, when I linked PR card to CIC account, it prompted that all future correspondence will be through the CIC account after linking. So, maybe I will not receive an email as you did but likely a direct notification in the CIC account.

All the same, fingers crossed. Hopefully, Studio 24 will pass the test...

You may always ask them if there is any option other than providing the SIN.

Please check this link for more details

Hello Seniors,

So my wife contacted some newcomers services in Ontario who help immigrants with employment services. However, they requested she provide her SIN as part of the documentation needed to enroll her for their services.

When she enquired why they requested for the SIN, someone explained that because they are sponsored by the Govt. of Ontario and Canadian Govt., they would need to provide some form of returns on the people who have benefitted from their service.

Please is it in order for her to disclose her SIN to them?

Kindly guide us based on your experience.

kissoflife:
1) Login to CIC account.
2) Go to section "Link an existing application to this account". Click on "Link application to this account" button.
3) Select category as PR Card
4) Select "Unique Client Identifier (UCI) and Family Name"
5) Fill required details (please make sure of capital, small, comma etc.)
6) Provide landing date in "Date you became a permanent resident"
7) Click on 'search my application'
cool after application searched, make sure you submit application else it not link

Once you have successfully linked your application it will show you as "Submitted" status and once it is ready for dispatch it will go into "Approved" status.

The steps above were copied from a Blackbuddy's post and it worked for me but after like a month of landing.
Thanks alot. I really appreciate.

My Dear Seniors,

I am landing at Ontario in a couple of days and have been thinking about the best way to show POF at port of entry. For now, I have decided to carry equivalent of C$9000 in USD and then have the balance POF as USD in my Dom. account with a debit card and internet banking access to it. Also, I have printed 6 months account statement of the Dom. account as further evidence of the balance.

Please from your experience, will above be sufficient in the worst case scenario or do I take the risk of carrying everything as cash?

Would hugely appreciate your responses.

Thank you in advance.

Please I have some questions
1. How long did it take you to finish with the process there? Is it something that takes the whole day?
2. Is it strictly cash payment? Are there bank ATMs around there to get cash?
3. Did they check the documents in the envelope or just collected it they way you have packaged it?
1. It took me about 2 hours. However, I must warn you that the security personels are very ill informed and will attempt to turn you back once its 12pm, So you need to hold your ground that you are only submitting passports and not there for biometrics.

2. It is strictly cash payment. However, there is an atm in front of the premises with a very long queue. My advice withdraw your cash before going there.

3. Make 2 copies of bio data pages before going there. All the documents will be checked and transferred to another vfs envelope.

All the best.

Please I need information. Are we to submit the our passport for ppr at The VFS global office in lekki?
Can we mail it in? Or do we have to be present ? What is the process like and what is the cost?

Pls answers
Hello,

From my experience at VFS, it has to be submitted physically but not necessarily by the applicants. Hence, you can mail all supporting documents to someone in Lagos or Abuja who will then go there and submit on your behalf.

If you choose to use a representative, then get on VFS website, print and fill out a consent form authorizing the person to submit and pick up for you.

It cost about N14,350 per applicant.

All the best.

Guys,

Please has anyone who sent passports to Accra around May 3, 2018 received any feedback on his/her CIC account or PUM from VFS?

I am getting impatient with them. After a long delay at London VO, now Accra seems to be taking their own time.

You should receive a mail when it is dispatched to your school for verification. Maybe you should give pause for 1 more week before contacting WES. However, ensure someone in your school's exams and record unit is on the look out for the mail from WES.

cheers.

Hello e-family,

Please for those who submitted int'l passport to Ghana via VFS, kindly confirm if you included the vac consent form?

Also, is there a way to send the vac consent form across to Ghana if it was omitted?

I just noticed this requirement on the VFS website, although it was not stated on the ppr letter.

Thank you in advance.

Dear e-family...........

With God all things are possible. I got the golden mail today.

Timeline -

Sept. 20 – ITA
Oct. 14 – AOR
Oct. 26 – Med passed
Oct. 26 – ADR ( travel history)
Oct 29- ADR submitted
Nov. 2 – NA 2
Nov. 29 – job mail
Nov. 30 – File transferred to London
Feb 27 – IP2 and ADNR changed to NA
April 25 – Ghost update
May 2 – PPR

This journey started Feb 1, 2017 with WES registration. God on our side, Spouse and I wrote IELTS in May and got the required score in the first sitting. Joined the pool in June and got the ITA in September. The rest you already know.

The information we have on this platform is immeasurable and on top of that, it is free. Let's keep supporting each other and when we scold people for not reading up from page 0, let's do it moderately.

On this journey, put your trust in God, stay focused, be resilient and very very very patient....

It will end in praise for us all.

One luv

[quote author=katyamizotta post=66580094].So my AOR is october 1st 2017. Wrote to CIC and got this response to submit bank statements showing salary payments for the last six months.

The challenge is I do not keep any funds in my salary account. I sweep it clean into my savings account which has a healthy balance
I want to get this right.

Questions are: is this a request just to ascertain my salary or is this another form of request of proof of payment? Do I send every proof of funds to be on the safe side or just my bank statement of salary account and adhere to instructions?[/quote

Congratulations! I smell your PPR.

I suggest your provide an updated POF, including evidence of salary for the past 6 months. This will put your mind to rest.

Did you send an email or raised a CSE? What's your visa office?

Wifey and little one's passport carries their names as 'Surname Other name First name' whereas, all other documents carries 'Surname First name Other name' Wifey is about to register for IELTS and confused on which combination to use. Moreso, Do you guys think this will affect our EE application. Please I need your advise both from experience and what you feel. Do we have to do a change of name on passport?
Thanks.
From experience you are advised to register for IELTS as your name appears on your international passport.

Hello, if the aim is just to do 3 weeks visit and return to resign, why not plan for madam and your daughter to stay on till the cards are ready before coming back to Najia? Although some people have done it in the past, to courier their cards either to UK or Najia, search the thread for those entries. So unless the brief seperation option isn't an option for your family at this time, then you might just have to go on with your initial plan. my 2 cents...hope this helps.
Thanks much,

Sounds like a good option except for the avoidable high cost of taking this option. Will do the maths. Thanks again.
