Joe980:Typical UOttawa. Did u register for the buddy program Nick was suggesting tho? |
Padike:No, not yet. It's on its way tho ![]() |
mrnilobrawn:No I haven't registered. I have this condition for course registration which requires me to physically show my official certificate. They won't even accept a scanned copy of it. So I have to actually get there before I can register. I deposited some funds already into my school account tho, I'll know how much my semester bill is after registering and it will be deducted from my school account thereafter. |
Padike:Carleton and Ottawa are neighbouring universities. In fact they have some collaboration programs in their engineering faculties. I am headed to Ottawa this January. |
Padike:Don't give yourself headache about that since you've already submitted. Just be positive. All the best |
lilspiceyy:thanks for the encouragement dear. I celebrate in advance... the anticipation could be really tense tho. phew! |
Nice, nice... let's keep 'em coming guys. Congrats Snappyfingaz. |
okemi:Great! Great! Really good to know. Congrats. |
gbemisolaw:lol, that's like saying you want them to assess your credentials for free. You can try it tho, I really can't tell you not to. |
Snappyfingaz:lol, u dey mind am? only God know who hin dey deceive for here. Pesin wey no wan involve for here again, how u go trust hin talk? |
This must be the fastest moving part of this forum's series. It's normal tho; that's how records get broken. Sorry, if I'm digging out a buried issue. I think a school with relatively low competition in the intended course will admit a 3rd class degree. But such schools are very hard to find, especially in a developed country like Canada. It could be true that there's no ratio or formula for CGPA conversion because really, there's no valid basis for comparison between our education system and Canada's. So what they look at are the prerequisite courses for the programs. Even if you didn't pass them as required by the program, and there is room to still consider you, then you may be offered a provisional admission into a program (sorta like a pre-masters), which is not the real program and is NOT FREE. Every school has its own strategy so don't bank on these concepts I'm suggesting. When it comes to issues of low CGPA, it's better to mail the department directly. If you're lucky, they'd tell you your chances straight up without requiring you put in an actual application, which is usually NOT FREE. This is not for debate purposes, they are just my thoughts and I hope it answers the question someone came here asking about his chance with his 3rd class. That being said, I know of some people that got admission into dip and adv dip courses in Canada. Meanwhile, CIC is still hanging our list o. No medical call yet. *fingers crossed* |
Joe980:Yes o. He knocked my door too. ![]() |
tianadiva:Sorry about your health. Make sure you take along with you some malaria drugs. Very important against a possible relapse in Canada. They would hardly have malaria drugs because they rarely get such cases. So take precaution. Get well soon ma |
Joe980:Lol. See dis guy trying to steal my role. No be me dey preach the positivity? 2011? Baba I even think sey u don get like 10 yrs experience for the matter. I've been on this matter long enough too. There's no definite trend with the way CIC works bro; if you have been observing well, you'd have noticed that their policies change anyhow... |
Joe980:As long as it is not stated on the CIC site that there is a quota, it remains an issue of "whatever anyone wants to believe" and I'd rather go with the positive idea; which is "no quota exists". Granted, the bar may have been raised...for other reasons; maybe a new policy implemented, but let's not think too far. All I'm just saying is that we should remain positive and look on the brighter side. Thanks tho. That's more like it . Wishing you well also.P.s: I'm surprised you particularly do believe in the "injury time" tho, cause I can see you just applied this month. Did you do upfront medicals? |
Cufs:That's the spirit... keep it alive |
I still believe these VOs are not out to chastise anybody in particular. And I don't believe there is any such thing as "injury time" blanket negative decisions as well. In fact, I think it's commendable that reasons are given for their unfavorable decisions; at least you can get a hint of where your application went wrong and then reapply. I know how disastrous application refusals could be (I've been there) especially if you have planned your whole life while banking on the visa approval but I think it's unfair to spread fears about a weapon of mass destruction just because shots were fired. Besides, this is an online forum filled with anonymous members; we shouldn't always take everyone's words as 100% truth. I mean, it's easier to make the VO look like the bad guy than to take full responsibility for omitting something important from your application. Applications are treated on a case by case basis. Pls let's be positive about things rather than make negative assumptions. For those that were recently delayed, I empathize... but don't bask in it for too long; move on and make your next move. There is definitely and always a way to fix it. All the best. |
Standupguy, how far? Any show? Anxiety wan kee person for here, lol |
Joe980:Cool stuff. We'll keep in touch. All the best |
Joe980:Yep, I'm looking to be out b4 New years... no definite flight plans yet but I'm making shadow moves already. I see we're both heading for the capital city. What course are you going for? |
This is a public service announcement from Redribs to all TRV hopefuls... If you know your application processing time is clocking 42-49 days this coming week and you don't already have 30k on standby, go and start looking for it o. No panel physician will do medicals for you for free. It's at least 28k but I have factored transport money into the total amount. ![]() Brace yourself guys... good news on its way by God's grace. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. |
MrArams:just curious tho, how much did you deposit? or what percentage of the tuition? |
MrArams:No problem sir. I figured you already got your TRV (and went AWOL, lol), that's why I went on with it, but yeah, a proper handover is in order. Congrats bro. More blessings to come your way. Cheers |

Kaynine59 Thanks man. If you can still be this positive then what's my excuse? I appreciate the encouragement. |
meritdee:Mehn me sef, my morale is lower than a broke man's fuel tank guage. All these refusals and delays that CIC is sharing. I don't even understand what's happening again. I just need to remain positive. We all need to just remain positive. Everything really does happen for a reason. God dey... we can only hope for better things to come in days to come |
kaynine59:Sorry about it. It's never a nice feeling. But you will surely recover from it. Stay strong bro. We wish you all the best as well. Thanks |
justicia:It's pretty late to apply but since you have a special case with the letter from the school soliciting to CIC on ur behalf for a faster process, I guess you can give it a shot...well, ofcourse if the supporting documents required of you are set too. If you do decide to take the shot, I will also suggest that you go all in by doing an upfront medical examination rather than wait for it to be requested. Note that upfront medicals can only be done b4 your application is submitted. Just my thoughts sha. All the best |
pchax:Nice one. Congrats. Just what I've been looking for... |
Dear TRV hopefuls, That injury-time concept that suggests that CIC uses a quota-guided system for their TRV approvals is a plausible explanation for the silence on medical calls and refusals lately... but I don't think it's a blanket hammer on all TRV hopefuls this period... Especially for the fact that it sounds like something that can violate human right/immigration laws (I'm not a lawyer, just being logical...and optimistic too)... Also, I believe it would've been spelt out one way or the other on their website. And as possible as it might seem, I don't believe applications are refused for reasons other than the ones stated by the VOs. We should consider that these VOs are humans too and humans are as different as their perspectives. We should all just be prayerful that only reasonable VOs that can understand the exact picture we've painted of our unique cases, be the ones to assess our apps. There are other ways to control visa issuance and placing a cap on the number of visa approvals only sounds to me like a malicious approach on Nigerians. I mean, they can rather just play on the disclaimer that apps take 19 weeks to process naija applications and simply pend the apps past school resumption date if they really wanna deny all apps in the suggested injury time. Or they can also just increase scrutiny on apps a notch higher and investigate on stuff they rarely did with earlier apps (which might just be what is really going on right now). In my humble opinion, Canada has plenty room for qualified immigrants and even if in the off chance that they might be trying to close the entry gates for the year, we just need to stay positive that we all will get in before it is finally shut. And to those that got delayed recently, it is not over; you can pick yourself up and try again (might be too late for winter semester tho). I wish us all the best God bless |
No medical call up yet this week... the anxiety is crazily dreadful... k'Olorun shaanu. Lol |
So no medical call today also abi? Ok o... there is kuku God. All these tension these VOs are sharing *sigh* na to remain hopeful and positive regardless... Goodnight guys |

I dey hail oooooo. God ain't sleeping brother.
