Pls peeps I need a help on this issue.....if someone's app got delayed and then notify the school about the delay, does it mean that the admission is forfeited and one will have to apply for another admission?
If that acceptance covers only up to winter 2015, then you will have to reapply for another admission. But you need to contact the school to know what exactly works in your case because I am only suggesting that based on a similar personal experience. They still had all the supporting files (transcripts and test scores) I used to apply so all I had to do was to fill a fresh app and pay another app fee.

Habeeb, hw u dey?.....so, does dat mean dat all study visa applicants approved must book a round trip ticket., to tell d airlines dat dey r returning back to naija....wont dat be a waste of money, cos, not all airlines wuld welcome refund....pls, explain more...#gbayi
I don't think so. Study permit holders can book one way tickets. It's TRV holders with business and/or pleasure motives that should get return tickets.

Meanwhile, the airline has no problem selling one way tickets to anybody, it's only Immigration that checks business/pleasure travellers' itinerary at departure to ensure arrangements on when to leave the country have been made. Students can fly one-way.

Actually considered that. i did that LOS-NYC-YYZ route a few years ago when i went to Toronto but struggled with baggage allowance on Air Canada. Will see how many hours by road it is by Greyhound. Might just save me tons of money. You know we women don't know how to travel light.
Oh yeah! You women sure don't know how to travel light and u def don't even wanna learn how to either, lol. Whatever the case, if you are doing the one way to NY, try to book your outbound ticket to Canada b4 you leave naija cos I heard that with a visiting visa to US, immigration at MMA need to see proof that you will leave US after some time... just advising that you shouldn't leave your Canada flight booking till when you get to yankee

I have 2 years American visa so should be fine.
That's whassup! Having a US visa just makes the travel cost like half. U can book a one - way flight to NY with arik (if u don't hate them), probably chill in yankee for some time and then you can even continue to Tdot with a Greyhound Bus. Congrats dear.

Thanks for the advice. I guess I dont have luxury of choice.. I might just tuck my head in.. I actually feel lucky.
Yeah. And as for the multiple start dates, bear in mind that schools that offer that privilege will want you to indicate which of the start dates you prefer to join. So if you select winter, you should ensure it's clear in your visa application that you are going for winter. In fact, let me give you a personal story to explain things. I had the privilege of multiple start dates to choose from also; FALL 2014 and WINTER 2015. On the offer, I was given a deadline to fill (and indicate preferred semester) and scan back an offer acceptance form that was enclosed in the offer. I filled it, chose FALL, scanned and emailed it back... then few days after, I received an email stating that I was welcome to register into the Fall semester. Unfortunately, visa wasn't approved and because I knew there was really nothing I could do at the time to improve my chances so as to re-apply quickly, I decided to just email my school explaining that my Visa wasn't approved and that I was sure I wanted the winter 2015 semester instead. That's when I now got another email, this time, inviting me to register in the Winter semester. I now included it in my visa application docs just for the VO to understand that I am applying for winter semester this time around. Also, in your study permit app form, you will have to indicate the start date (and end date) of your program. All this long story is just to make you understand that your visa application is not going to be considered for all the start dates on your offer letter so if the timing goes off for the winter application, I doubt (but I'm not totally sure) that your application will be automatically considered for the fall semester.
Really hope you get my point cos this took me some time to draft, lol.
All the best

Its amazing how effective these threads can be and how effortless/selfless the experienced posters are.. I am a prospective student of University of Guelph ON. I wanna know if I can go ahead with my visa application at this time for a January term... having in mind processes takes an average of 3 month but I have actually read on previous post of very few people pulling it of in 4 to 5 weeks. please advice. Thanks
Depends on how lucky you're feeling about it. Noone can really say... If you submit online tonight or first thing tomorrow and they don't come thru with the TRV approval in 8 wks; b4 the start of the school semester (which is averagely enough time to process online submissions these days), you really can't put it against them. Why? Because they already gave a disclaimer on their website saying that it takes 19 weeks on average to process study permit apps from naija.

So, how lucky do you feel about pulling it off in 5 weeks? It's up to you. In my opinion, I think it's "risky" late.

Sup gee? I'd rather you draft like an essay. At least, that's what I did. The one for visa app might need to be addressed to the VO tho. But I guess it doesn't really matter.

Academic history attended up to date it's on the item number nine of the questionnaire
Oh! You mean the checklist that should be included in the paper route submission. Ok. I don't remember how it looks and I don't recall where it was required to enter names of schools attended. Regardless, academic institution certificates should be enough to detail your academic history. I'm not agreeing nor concluding that that's why you were refused tho... I just wanted to be sure I didn't carelessly omit that information. Let's wait for the VO's report.

Have a great weekend and don't party too hard. Cheers.

Yeah my sponsor is a permanent secretary in the federal civil service and he gave me all the necessary documents which I know could not be d problem... It's only ID OF A THING I DID NOT INCLUDE. On my own part I feel for every school u mention on the app, u must show proof. Those are the things.
Yeah, I feel so too. ... but I just checked my forms and I don't see where the disclosure of secondary school(s) attended was required in any of them. Where did you (need to) state it in your application? I hope I'm not mixing things up.

Oga Siga this chemical night of a thing wey u dey mention... Hope no be alcohol because d way u sound is more cool and holy to be taking chemical ooo. I mean no disrespect....

I never get my documents from Ghana to know what could be the loophole to my app. But there are somethings I feel could be the problem which are: 1. I did not include my sponsors ID card( int. passport, then I went to three different secondary school before I finished and I mention those schools in my app but did not explain why i went to three different secondary school. So those are the things I know for sure could be d probs. And my sponsor's SOA reads 8m but mine has little cash in it. Please look into these matter pls and tell me what's up Big Bro.
what did u submit as regards your sponsor. Like was it just his statement of account? Any employment/business document that suggests his identity? If he/she is not your parent, did you define ties in a convincing way? I mean, a lot of us did not include sponsor's id. Well, I didn't (speaking for myself). It's a little oversight but I believe those other proofs I've mentioned should suffice.
Why (and how) did u suggest you went to 3 secondary schools? All you had to do was submit WAEC/NECO certs?
Anyways, until you collect your docs, we don't know why you were refused so let's not draw any conclusions yet.
Cheers... (Oh and yeah! Really sorry about the refusal).

@Ipain

Ok, at least now we understand that it was sheer ignorance… which really is not an excuse (especially in 2014). Sorry about the perceived insults. A safer approach would’ve been for you to observe first to understand that there is a procedure to follow before “Travelling to Canada” and it’s that procedure we discuss. On a day to day basis on the thread, we refer to links on the CIC website. There’s a simple questionnaire there to determine your own eligibility as your case proves. The idea of a Canadaian or anyone sending you a visa raises suspicion of a scam; only the CIC can approve one for you and if you didn’t know that already, I’m sorry, you really cant blame anyone for that miseducation. Almost any information is out there on the internet… on Google, which is probably your browser homepage. I don’t expect anyone to apologise to you for the harsh responses because anybody with illegal intentions will post that kind of message u posted. But now that I can sense some sort of innocence in your other posts, I guess my conscience is too soft to not give an apology cos I also may have remarked too harshly at your post. A lot of people here have been through a lot and are going through a lot still so this thread could be really sensitive at times. … in other words, Mr/Ms ipain, no be only u dey pain… No vex.

I think you should visit and navigate www.cic.gc.ca. Make it your homepage if possible…

All the best.

Am the student. It happens that am gonna b extending my stay here in canada soon and am hoping to use that as an opportunity to apply for my wife visiting visa since I can invite her. The main issue am having is that I answered the questionnaire on cic to knw what documents to submit ....the only document requested is our wedding certificate for her. Am ok with my own documents applying for extension. Am jz curious they r nt asking for her job letters, acct n so on . Here see the snapchat of the documents required

The 1st snap is for me. The 2nd snap is for her
I think you are on the right track sir; apply for the condition change/ pgwpp/student permit extension as it may apply to you, then add your wife to the package by declaring her in the Family information form as your company. Then she fills a TRV application form too with the necessary requirements for a TRV app. Just my humble opinion because honestly, I have had no personal experience on this issue, I'm only trying to draw up educated guesses on it. But I'm sure it is possible, only that it's not a common case discussed on this thread. I'll love to know how this goes tho... and I'm sure other house members would, as well, so keep us posted on the matter.
All the best sir.

Pls house, I need help from someone who had gone thru applying or sponsoring their wife to canada as a student. I need the list of documents submitted because after goin thru the cic questionnaire , the only document requested is our wedding certificate and as we all know the online application can be trickish at time. Do I need to submit more documents or I shud jz submit wat am asked for ?
Any opinions will be appreciated! Thanks
Morning boss,
I'm not sure I get you correctly. Who's the student? You or her? As in are you asking about how she can accompany you while you study or how you can sponsor her to Canada to study. Both are possible and in both cases, you will need to submit your marriage certificate along with the usual complete study permit app requirements. You will also need to show substantial available funding in your statement of account, to cover the total living expenses for both of you. I hope this helps. The house is here to share other opinions.

Mehn, congrats to your friend. I believe mine will turn out this way. I was also refused twice this year, deferred to Winter, did upfront medicals, necessary adjustments and reapplied October.....waiting on God for that good news in Dec grin
Need to understand this upfront medicals properly. Does this mean I can (at my own risk) go ahead to do medicals at Asaju (or wherever) without it being solicited, and when it's needed Asaju just uploads my result to CIC?

I'm asking because I'm considering it as an option. My workplace is about 6-7 hours away from Lagos (and Abuja too)... and getting time off work when I'm on call is very difficult. I'll be free next week and I plan to be in Lagos, but I haven't been called for medicals yet. Wanna know if it's ok to go ahead and schedule an appointment for medicals anyway.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 6 by redribs(m): 7:11pm On Nov 03, 2014
@castiello You have submitted already and it's now in the hands of CIC so unless you are looking to hear from someone to make u panic by telling you what you should/shouldn't have included b4 submitting, you don't need a response on the matter. All we can do is to back it up with prayers. It looks pretty solid to me though, let's pray the VO agrees with my opinion.

All the best bro. God bless all our applications and aspirations.
