Pls can anybody tell me how long it takes to acquire a study permit,I applied online route and biometrics was done Monday..pls I want to know how long it usually take..

6weeks on average to medicals... about 2weeks extra to TRV judging from statistics here.

There's a list of hopefuls we normally use to "manually" track applications of nairalanders here... you can check it out (and maybe add urs to the list as well and repost)...

So I'm still last on this list... I think I should just check back in 6 weeks b4 I use hypertension to trouble myself... the wait is too tiring *yawns* Thank God the list is moving at least...

phew! I was away from the forum for just 24 hours after it was showing some long silence.... and when cman4good's news broke, that was it, the forum came alive again with so many pages added...So people are lurking in the background like this? abi is there a way to receive alerts on updates on the forum

Anyways, for Winter hopefuls that have not yet applied, just try to make sure you do it online, don't even contemplate paper submission at this time. It's too late for it if you want to be realistic. And like I have suggested earlier, paper submissions are eventually going to be processed into scanned copies (if not for evaluation on the pc, at least for electronic archiving), so why not cut to the chase by scanning and uploading yourself?

And for everyone out there on the waiting list, keep the hope alive and stay healthy as well.
I have a dream... that processing times will start to diminish from now on...

I actually like the rate at which the goodnews are flowing in this week...

Meanwhile, what's in the document? maybe you should try to screen out the less important ones if all reduction option fails... cos I'm sure you cant upload more than 4mb. no 2 ways about it.

seems like the online application site is down. i tried starting an appliocation today and it isnt going.... please for those that have applied already did the bank sign on the statement as a means of certifying it or was there another means?

having it signed and stamped makes it more authentic but I believe the visa officer also gets to verify anyway so I guess it doesn't really matter. Only my bank reference letter was vetted on. Hope this helps.

2 to 3 months? Before medicals? Are you kidding me? So people who applied on October for winter start date are already late?

I dont see it that way. I dont think the embassy intentionally keeps application times at 2 or 3 months or whatever period. I believe it depends on how inundated they are with applications and how many workers (Visa officers) are available to evaluate them. For Winter, there are fewer applicants and that's why most of their processing times during the period may seem faster than those processed for Fall. The online route, typically just cuts out delays at the VACs and other naija factors and logistics that posess that inherent "african timing" nature. I can also imagine that paper applications are eventually scanned as well and eventually evaluated on the computer, just like the online applications (I may be wrong tho, but I think it makes sense). Scanning so many docs and grouping them properly could also take time...

So in essence, if anyone is just about to apply for the Winter semester (2015), I reckon you use the online application...Altho, using the paper route might take less time now sha (compared to earlier applications) because most of the prospective applicants have thrown in their applications as far back as august so this is not really a rush period for study permit applications.

These are just my views sha. (Or maybe just ideas to keep me relaxed about my "late" submission, lol)

It is well, you will not be delayed any further by God's grace. Just have a positive and calm mind while fixing the application. And of course stay in sync with this forum. I have also been refused earlier in March but I've shaken it off now. You should shake yours off too.

Again, I suggest you follow what is in your letter of acceptance if it is stated there. If it's not, then I think you should say 2 years so that you dont receive visa for just 16 months.

I believe the form should do. Why didnt you pay using ur debit card? Those charges can make person learn fast ooo. It was after I made the first payment thru wire that I learnt my school accepts our debit cards. I was so pained eh

I woulda been very pleased if my school could accept card payment... they recommend only wire transfer for int'l students
