I ALREADY SUBMITTED. I APPLIED ONLINE AND SINCE MY SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS WERE MANY, GOT NO SPACE TO ADD MY UNIVERSITY TRANSCRIPT ND WAEC RESULT. I THOUGHT THE VO WOULD UNDERSTAND THAT THE COLLEGE CANNOT ACCEPT WITHOUT THESE? IS THIS BAD NEWS, OR WILL THEY REQUEST FOR THE WAEC AND TRANSCRIPT? SINCE IT WAS STATED THAT THEY WILL EMAIL ME IF THEY NEED ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS. THANKS, AWAITING A KIND RESPONSE.
I think it's just unhealthy for u to panic about an application u already submitted. Left to me, the transcript is not necessary. And yes, if your WAEC cert is needed, you will be contacted. Don't worry yourself. Just hang on and remain steadfast in prayers.

There is a rule here on NL against typing in ALL CAPS btw...

All the best

Got delayed...bio 22nd oct..
Insufficient fund was the only reason ticked..
Didn't include sponsor's SOA because she has bin on maternity leave for close to a year as at the time I applied so she sent N3mil into my account for me to use..
Sorry about it. Some times and most times, you need to provide someone working or in business that will take responsibility for your finances while you study...

@redribs; you could call them up to know mode of payment.
Yeah, I just felt it was too late to call this evening and I was anxious for a quick response from my NL fam. But come to think of it, since it's a clinic, it should be fine to call at any time.

Meanwhile, did FGPS mail you that "threat" this evening?

Exactly what I was thinking!

Plus, what hospital do you plan using? And did you book an appointment?
I'll use the consultants on Ikoyi. I mailed them a while back when I was considering doing my medicals before the invite and they replied me with the list of requirements. They really don't need you to schedule an appointment, just be there b4 10am. They even do medicals on Saturdays too sef. I suggest you email them to get the list too or you can pm me so I can forward the email to u.

Those that did medicals recently, anybody know if the panel physicians have POS for card payment or I have to go there with the wad of 28k cash?

TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by redribs(m): 2:30pm On Dec 09, 2014
Ok, so guys, I couldn’t quite think of another way to lay this good news of mine than to brag about it being the first to open this thread. At least the first medical call sha. Might be inspiring to let you know that I drafted this post yesterday; b4 I got the medical call today. (As in I’m currently drafting this post right now with so much conviction that my medicals would land tomorrow). It’s called Faith. My guts have actually been so audacious since October because I had even booked a US ticket for late December as I have a valid US visa and I intend to connect to Canny from there… mad guts I tell u… but it was actually because it was a cheap offer at the time. No itinerary to Canada yet tho (I’m not that dauntless) but NY to Ottawa shouldn’t be hard I suppose. Anyway, so here’s my application story:

This is my second application. My first was refused (obviously), because I couldn’t prove a reliable “means of financial support while studying in Canada”. This successful application had the same sponsor as the first but more money to show for. I even paid a large sum to my school account and attached telex copies of the payment to my application. I submitted my online application on the 10th of October, did biometrics on the 20th of October, and here I am, December 9th with the ultimate medical news.

I don’t want to be the one to kill the trend of waiting till TRV is actually approved before listing out docs so I guess I’ll be back in less than 2 weeks to list them…

I feel like I just won a grammy, maybe because I’ve been dying to quit my job and this has finally become a real and perfect reason. I love my job tho, but I need the break and I need the further education. Ok, I’m blabbing now… (I guess it’s easier to do that now that I haven’t actually received the medi-call. When I eventually get it, I’ll be too overwhelmed to say much so just know now that this whole verbiage was copy and paste. Besides it’s a new thread so what are we mising space for?)

Meanwhile, shoutout to all the gurus that came through, can’t mention y’all, una too much #punintended. I really appreciate each and everyone actually, because I really can’t imagine how TRV applicants outside this NL forum pull thru the processing period without tearing their skin or pulling their hair out, lol. Even when I had nothing to say, I had something to read. And that list… oh that almighty list of hopefuls…CIC would be burnt that they dint get to be the ones to surprise me because the list already hinted me. A quick suggestion tho, rather than put date of application submission on the list, I think we should start putting date of biometrics submission.

Wishing other hopefuls success in their applications *hands baton to next in line*. God bless you all as you also receive great news in days and weeks to follow.

Cheers. And One love.

P.S please, guys that have done medicals recently, is there still need to schedule an appointment with any of the panel physicians? Thanks for your prompt response

... Contrary to what most people may think Canada dont want Students or dont wanna give study visas... just read how much money Foreign Students bring in yearly...

“Our government is proud that Canada continues to be a study destination of choice for international students. International students generate an estimated $8 billion in economic activity in Canada each year and thousands will remain in Canada permanently, putting their education and experience to work and contributing to economic and job growth in Canada.”

Chris Alexander, Canada’s Citizenship and Immigration Minister

Exactly my point... It's a big money-maker for them, why would they wanna plug that pipe?

Just a thought to share

Plausible home ties (in no particular order)

1. Professional body /organization membership certificate
2. A stamped bank statement/letter of introduction from bank (even if you are not your sponsor)
3. NYSC certificate
4. Land docs. CofO, DofA
5. Registered business docs, CofI, tax certs and other CAC docs linking applicant to business
6. Stocks certificate (even if you're not sponsor)
7. Driver's license.
8. Study leave approval from employer
9. Family back at home
10. A very convincing SOP to explain home ties.

All these can go into the letter of explanation if you are applying online.

Disclaimer: These are just suggestions and the VOs might be looking for more. Also, having good home ties is just one box in the VOs checklist. Having it ticked does not guarantee visa approval

Cheers

TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 6 by redribs(m): 6:45pm On Dec 05, 2014
So the 8th week has passed and I still haven't gotten any response from CIC. Although I just saw 2 missed calls from that same number Anugoson talked about a few wks ago. I wonder if that is really vfs/cic. I just tracked my app online and there's no update so I guess I'm waiting till next week again.

Sorry about the denials lately. I'll keep yall posted on things. Have a great weekend guys.

What course did u apply for.... An important factor is Course correlation and academic progression, I think @redribs missed that in his write up, also a proper explanation of any academic gap which including a CV would do...
Yeah, that's another idea, but I'm not sure it can prove financial sustainability. There are jobs in Canada but but none is actually guaranteed if there's no job offer to show for it.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 6 by redribs(m): 11:52am On Dec 03, 2014
@standupguy I get u bro. Pele.

I know I may have sounded confident in that post but I was only giving educated guesses. Justwise gave u a very valid perspective which I agree with. One thing I know is that there is no amount of money that expenses can't take away. It's easy to close a SOA on 50M, but keeping it floating around that figure for an extended period is another thing. That's just d point I was trying to draw out.

sorry, but banks are not legally bound to disclose financial information different from balances shown on S.O.A's already submitted to embassies. they can be sued for that in the law courts.
Well, like I said, I'm not sure how valid the information is, it was just something I heard and it sounded plausible. I agree it seems like some sort of violation but there's got to be a way they run checks on authenticity and sustainability of the accounts they are assessing. But hey, I'm just saying, I dunno anything for sure

TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 6 by redribs(m): 2:34am On Dec 03, 2014
@pchax I understand your concern and the idea you are proposing. Using PMs (and emails) still can work...and is safer too. Using a cloud method simply brings back same issue you are trying to address; the problem of having so many advises and not knowing which is best to choose. I am of the school of thought that "you are the best composer of your SOP" because... well, it's your purpose and not anyone else's... only thing one could need help with is how to use the words technically and properly (punctuation and grammar edits, basically) and this can be gotten from friends, family and even anonymous friends here on the forum (using PMs and email).

I have also been analysing this rampant refusals because really, it is getting worrisome ... but contrary to your idea, addressing the SOP was not even on my list (maybe I'm missing something). First thing we should understand, is that, simply listing out docs submitted does not give a true and exact picture of our file. It only gives hints and ideas. Having said that, I prefer to play within the stated reason for refusal because... well, at least it points me in a direction to start with my analysis. The only reason I suspect that can emanate from an incoherent SOP will be "purpose of visit"...and that's not as common as the baba of all the reasons; "insufficient funds". Ok, maybe the letter of explanation might explain the financial docs to a clear perspective but if anything, I think being able to display sufficient funds from a reasonable sponsor can even be self-explanatory... as per u know? MONEY TALKS na.

Been trying really hard not to drop long posts these days because I dread my medicals not coming in this part 6 but since I've started lemme just kuku finish. Pardon my long talk, I'm a very expressive guy grin. Besides it might give good insight to people that have plans to apply.

So as I was saying, financial statements, as simple as they might seem, they can tell a lot about a person's financial behaviour. (Especially for the fact that the one CIC requires is over a stretch of 6 months). People are highly trained to be able to analyse these docs. I can imagine that these VOs are ACCA professionals and stuff. I'm just trying to point out that it's possible that these VOs actually do immerse themselves in these financial docs to the extent of getting really personal. Like they can use the financial docs submitted to make out a story that they think you are trying to portray and if a confusing part of the story can not be explained, they tell you they are "not convinced". That's what I suspect really happens. I even heard (but don't quote me o) that they also contact the banks during the processing time to verify the authenticity of the financial statement and as well as the funds/balance at different times because they are legally bound. It's a plausible thought because really, why else will it take so many weeks to process an application?

In summary sha, applicants should ensure a good bidirectional flow, a reasonable balance, a reasonable sponsor, an authentic sponsor's consent and lastly, ensure that the balance remains reasonable throughout the application process ... and this is where I think most people need to address. Also, if you are using a sponsor that you are not a direct dependant of, I suggest you try to pay your full tuition for a year and have some reasonable funds in your personal account to cover living expenses for the first few weeks/months.

Just my thoughts sha, cos really, I don't know sh*t.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 6 by redribs(m): 12:58am On Dec 03, 2014
@standupguy sorry about the refusal. I'm really shaken by the development cos trust me, watching an applicant right in front of you get hammered out is a really scary and discouraging sight...but God dey. Just like someone suggested already, you could reapply with the same docs (which btw I think were not bad) and your application will be approved. What to do now is to contact your school about the refusal and ask if you can be considered for the next available semester. You might need to pay a new application fee and fill a fresh app form but they will most likely still have your transcript so a decision will be reached in a few days or weeks. If that happens, I guess you can just wait it out will till then. Might seem like a long wait but you shouldn't let it bother u. Good things take time.
