There is nothing good about the new NL. Just leave NL as it is otherwise you'll see people leave in droves.

it's amazing the kind of trash that makes its way to nairaland front page these days - this piece has been over the internet for the past five years, and somebody has just copied and pasted it today and it becomes front page material. The so called "moderators" should be more selective and discerning when making front page choices if they want this website to remain relevant  huh embarassed lipsrsealed undecided kiss
Yes, it has been all over the internet for the past 100years, why didn't you copy it and paste since you read it? Leave people like 'us' that are seeing it for the first time to enjoy the joke. Na by force to comment on every thread? Mumu like you.

Exactly my point. You do not wait for someone to commend you about the posting before you reply that you copied it. You are supposed to cite the source at the moment you posted someone else's work. Even though you admitted to copying the jokes from somebody else, you failed to provide the source from which you copied it.

And you do not have to directly attribute someone else's work as yours to commit plagiarism. You commit plagiarism when you fail to give credit to work that was not yours.

Since you are most likely a product of Nigeria's failed educational system, you believe it is proper to copy jokes from someone else's website, post it on Nairaland,  and fail to give attribution to the source as long as you don't state that it was your own work. That thinking is flawed, my brother, and in civilized societies you could be expelled from school and be guilty of the act plagiarism or, even more serious, copyright infringement.

Just take this as a learning experience and move on. This is because next time you post something, no one will know whether it was copied from another source or whether it was your own work product. There is a presumption that a literary work without citation is the work product of the person who wrote or posted it.

What's biting you mister? Abeg free the guy joor. Is the original work yours that you are accusing the guy of plagiarism? It is not a must to post on every thread. You even went ahead calling him a product of Nigerian failed educational system. You have exposed how stupid you are. If you've got nothing meaningful to contribute, just f.cuk off. Mr 'Sabinus'.

Why would somebody even think of buying a device/gadget he/she cannot afford/maintain? What's so special about BB that some users are making other non-BB users look like they aint normal? Someone recently asked for my pin and i told her i aint got no BB and she couldnt believe me! Why would a student spend his/her poor parents hard earned money just to own a BB while his/her poor parents go to bed hungry everyday. I think it is plain stupidness. BB is a very important tool in the business world today for people who have the need for it, but these days most users (eapecially students just wanna keep up with the Jonses by owing a BB.

EducationRe: Can Educators Reveal Their Experience With Nigerian Students? by redsquare(m): 5:33pm On Feb 13, 2012
I'm not an educator per se, but the only time i was opportuned to teach was during my NYSC in Kwara state. To my greatest surprise, SS1 students were being taught how to recite A,B,C,D in their English classes! I also found out that most of the teachers do not follow the school curricula. They're either too lazy to teach or they're not just motivated. These students will of course be promoted to the next class since nobody fails in schools these days. What do you expect the students to do when they are faced with an external examination like WAEC?
PoliticsRe: Nigerians Living In Poverty Rise To Nearly 61% by redsquare(m): 5:02pm On Feb 13, 2012
How come the number of people living below $1 a day almost doubled between 2004 and 2010? This has shown that this PDP government has nothing to offer this country. The number of Nigerians going to bed on empty stomach everyday is more that the total population of the UK and France combined, yet we want to achieve vision 20/2020. If nothing is done and done fast, by 2020 only about 0.01% of the population would live above the poverty line and guess who that 0.01% would be? Our politicians of course!

"Inyo gwee" is not used in Ogidi, not even by the elderly, maybe it's an Oba and umoji word. In Ogidi,we equally have words that other idemili towns don't use.
My bad! Maybe 'Inyo gwee' is not used in Ogidi town, but i'm very sure of Obosi and Ojoto. My granny is from Obosi and she uses 'inyo gwee' up to this day to mean 'have u returned?'. I'm interested in knowing some typical Ogidi words that other Idenmili towns dont use.

NRI PRIEST:
Just wondering where you are from in Idenmili,if at a ll you are from there; Reason:"inyo gwee",this is nothing but core Umuoji spoken mostly by the aged folks. The modern set dont use that phrase anymore! Tell me how much you know about the GREAT IDENMILI!
I'm a true son of the GREAT IDENMILI, i am from Oba town (we share common boundary with Umuoji). The 'inyo gwee' phrase is widely used in my town too, just like you said by the elderly. It is also well used in other Idenmili towns like Ogidi, Nkpor, Obosi and Ojoto. Idenmili/Onitsha dialect is a very unique one that one cannot mistaken. I've been following this interesting thread from the beginning and noticed that what an earlier poster Ada Ide (i dont think she knows what that means) posted was nothing close to our beautiful Idenmili dialect. Nwannem jisi ike, Idenmili ayi amaka. Daalu rinne.

I dont think eating at the funeral of an elderly person who died at a ripe age (say 80 and above) is wrong, but doing that at the funeral of someone who died in his/her prime is not proper. I once attended the funeral of a 14year old and believe me, i saw villagers (mostly elderly men) fighting over drinks! It was very sickening!

I am sorry but I have no mercy for those stranded in their village now. Are they telling me that they used all their money to travel to the east for celebration? What if there was no issue of subsidy and while travelling the vehicle breaks down. Yes I am from the east but it makes no sense for igbos to always insist on travelling and at times even borrowing to waste money in the east because u can not travel without dashing out lump sums of money to visitors.

Bottom line, if u have made so much moni, travel and if not sit down at home.

How would they have paid their kids fees this january sef if they returned?
You are a big F.O.O.L. So people that have one event/ceremony to attend during xmas should not travel? Or what is wrong in someone joining his kith and kin to celebrate the xmas in his village after spending the whole year in the city? Or would you blame someone who kept N8,000(which ordinarily is more than enough) for his transport back to Abuja from Onitsha who got to the park and noticed that transport fare to ABJ has quadrupled?

1. When did I ever call myself an Hausa man ? I have called myself Yoruba, Nupe, Igbo, bini, ijaw and kanuri Never HAUSA so please don't refer to me as hausa.

2. The problem in Nigeria has nothing to do with ethnicity rather individuals. Instead of insulting and blaming the yorubas today and hausa tomorrow I rather you give a solution to corruption in Nigeria
Hypocrisy is one deadly disease. Now you know that the problem in Nigeria has nothing to do with ethnicity. But you Alhaji Boko Haram is always the first to call the Igbos in every crime committed in Nigeria. Take it or leave it, Prof Aluko betrayed the late Ikemba who was even agitating for another Yoruba man (Ogundipe) to be at the helm of affairs. Sorry Ikemba, your detrabalised/open minded nature made you  loose the civil war. RIP.

Ok yorubas are cowards, How does that affect Nigeria or Igbos ?

Yorubas are betrayers, then don't make deals with them undecided

Yorubas are tribalsitic then, don't go to Lagos or any Western state for commercial purposes or schooling since you know they are tribalsitic

Abi, what is it self that u people keep looking for that you keep to blame a group for the Nation's woes ?

Today it is yorubas fault

tomorrow it is hausa

next it is fulani

next month it is Ijaw. LOL funny from someone that has low self esteem
Ewu hausa, you and your illiterate almajiri brothers are the least of our problems now. Go and address the issue of Boko Haram in your desert encroached north before spewing trash here. Nama like you.
PoliticsRe: What Ojukwu Told Me Before, During And After The War —sam Aluko by redsquare(m): 11:11pm On Dec 03, 2011
This Aluko guy has gone senile. He just waited for Ojukwu to die before he said all these crap. He betrayed a man that trusted him with all his life. A man that consulted him before he made any arrangement. This has shown Nigerians who the Yorubas are. I swear, they are the problem we are facing as a country. Forget the Igbos, the Hausas, the Ijaws, the Ogonis, the Idomas, the Fulanis etc, the day the Yorubas cease being Nigerians, the day this country would live in peace. So they were not comfortable with the way things were going pre 1966, but they lacked the balls to make the bold move. Hear them, 'the day the Igbos leave the confederation, the day we would leave'. Buncha cowards.
