If Man U did sign Sanchez and Ibrahimovic on free transfer, the could have become the costliest team at present. However, why is Man U still struggling to win a trophy in England despite being the highest wages in football club.

City's spending is justifiable and necessary considering the release of players like - Hart, Calabaro, Clichy, Kolarov, Sagna, Yaya, Mangala, Ihenacho, Zabaletha, Nasri, Navas, Nolito etc within a season.

In fact, City is paying lower wages now as compared to then, but Man U is still paying the highest wages till date.

The ability of Pep to instill his philosophy and integrate the team to achieve result could not be under estimated.

Now we can say Tiki-taka can work in EPL.

at Barca he perfected the already well known style of play originated by Cruyff(TikiTaka)..at Bayern and Mancity that Philosophy was a new Total style to what they are used to so he needed time to perfect it but unfortunately he couldn't get much years at Bayern but his impact made Bayern seize Bak power totally from Dortmund....Now at Mancity,he couldn't win d EPL on his first season,He won it in his second season wit d Carling cup,Now he won all three,U can sense the improvement in d team and on personal level of Sterling,Sane and co...now by next season he will be All out for d UCL..watch out

He had more than enough time at Bayern and Man C ... he simply failed to deliver UCL success to those two clubs - period!

In respect to SAF, I think they are in vastly different situations, especially earlier on in SAF's career. Man United where not always this big. They had prestige but their relationship to Liverpool then was like Arsenal and Spurs currently with Spurs having more EPL titles and CL though.

SAF made the "knock them of their perch" promise when Man Utd were no where near the level of Liverpool with about half of pool's EPL titles. He came to surpass them at 18. Remarkable!

Pep's winning rate is actually higher than most. He will likely surpass SAF in a few more seasons. But the titles are just one (lesser) part of Pep. It is how he actually wins that make him so respected as the best coach in football.

Zidane won Alot with Madrid actually too, 3 CL. But I don't see football clubs scrambling to appoint him when he was free. Chelsea didn't make any effort to get him before they appointed Sarri. But Pep will have red carpets offering everytime he wants to change clubs.

You will not win EPL every year. In Pep’s fist season with Man C he also did not win anything!

I know many people will think otherwise, but the Champions League is not the best indicator of a team's strength. Madrid won three straight CL but only won the league once. Are you going to actually tell me that team was better than Barca's? The margin for error is too small in the CL and better teams could end up losing or going out.

Pep Bayern were good and capable of Winning it but there were other teams stronger then. But this City, they are the best team in the world in my opinion. They are better than Pep Bayern. Their individual quality is staggering.

The CL is hard. I expected them to win it this year but Spurs were ready and the rest is history. But what you can't deny this City team is that every year, they are going to be among the top 2-3 rated teams to win it. Once a coach gets his team to that level, LUCK WILL EVENTUALLY be on their side.

You make excellent points. Winning the domestic league is as prestigious as winning UCL. However, Pep has had access to massive funds in all his teams (Bayern/Man C) but failed to even take them to UCL finals. I agree with you that Pep is arguably the best coach right now but raise an eye brow when claims are made that he’s better than SAF.

Mou was won UCL with two teams that have half the payroll of Pep’s teams.
So yes, Pep does not yet have the success of Mou. Though, I agree, right now Pep is the better coach
